A private citizen makes a comment from which, if a few words are excised and taken out of context, can be twisted to appear to portray a fairly benign slur on a very few members of our military, said members not being named or identified in any way. And the result of this highly prejudicial account of the alleged meaning of the out-of-context words is a public attack on the private citizen, ON THE FLOOR OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE, by an elected representative acting in his OFFICIAL role as majority leader. attacking this private citizen in the most personal and vicious manner, making personal comments against this private citizen which go far beyond the words in question. Furthermore, the body of the United States Senate is officially requested to publicly and officially censure this private citizen, on the flimsiest of excuses, because his poltiical positions are contrary to that Senator who mounted the personal attack and demanded that the government take action against him.
Futhermore, 41 Senators officially sign a document which is created specifically to punish this private citizen for what they concluded he said, contrary to evidence that no such thing was said.
The United States Senate was co-opted to mount a personal attack on someone for the "crime" of having an opposing political position.
Yet a few weeks later an ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE, acting in his role as such, in the context of a debate on offical government business, ON THE FLOOR OF THE UNITES STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. publicly mounts a vicious attack on the President of the United States in which the President is actually accused of finding "amusement" in the deaths of military under his command.
And he escapes any form of official censure, from his fellow representatives and even those Senators whose sensibilities were so offended by an inaccurate interpretation of the words of a private citizen exercising his constitutional right to free speech that they attempted to punish him for his dissenting opinion, using their positions as Senators to do so.
Gee, I wonder why the American public is becoming more and more disillusioned with the Democrat Congress.
As for me, I am offering to support any Republican contender for the seat of the disgraceful Pete Stark. I won't contribute to the RNC, till they get their act together and act like Republicans, but I will support individual candidates, and this is one of them, whoever it may be.
"I won't contribute to the RNC, till they get their act together and act like Republicans, but I will support individual candidates."
My wife and I have told the RNC fund raisers the very same thing.
My wife and I have told the RNC fund raisers the very same thing.
DITTO!!
Gee, I wonder why the American public is becoming more and more disillusioned with the Democrat Congress - Almiranta
And the Democratic candidates I might add. Edwards, yesterday, announced plans to pull out of Iraq, and this is following his statement in the last debate that he wouldn't commit to withdrawing troops by the end of 2013.
Additionally, he stated that the Pentagon budget needs to be gone over line by line, and any and all unnecessary expenditures will be eliminated. I wonder who will deem the expenditure unnecessary? Secondly, I wonder if he plans to go through the Welfare entitlements in the same manner. Do you think there might be any unnecessary expenditures in those budgets?
These people will say ANYTHING to get elected. It's beyond shameful and I think the voting public is beginning to realize the lack of leadership that exists on that side of the aisle.
So the Democrats killed the effort to censure Stark. Just like the Mob, Democrats take care of their own, don't they? It's obvious they cut a deal with him to avoid offending the netroots with a censure motion.
These people will say ANYTHING to get elected.
Yep, and they'll say anything from the safety of the chambers of Congress. You oughta hear some of the crap Laura Ingraham replays on her show--a lot of these Donkaroach pukes stay on the floor late at night, saying some of the most vile things about this administration and this country. And most of them will "serve" in Congress forever...
ooh! ooh! something to outrage about!!
Yeah, someone in congress said something offensive. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
What's more obscene? This Obscene War - or the obscene comments made about it?
Were it that you toadies would get as outraged by 4,000 US service men and women sent. to. die. for. no. good. reason. at. all.
Maybe Pete Stark's comments were too painful
because what he said was the Gospel Truth. You
and your Replundercan-Neofascist friends may
rack up a huge profit from the human suffering
you continue to promote as though it were a duty
to slaughter innocent people, but you are all
as despicable as the churning corruption which
you collude with.
When is "hot tub" Tom Delay getting a pardon?
A. Time.....yoo, hoo!! time to take your medicine!!
Why do democrats always apologize for saying it the way it is? It drives me crazy. Have the Swift-boaters ever apologized to Kerry? Has the President ever apologized to McCain for his South Carolina primary smears? Did Limbaugh apologize for mocking Michael Fox or for calling troops who speak out phony? Has the spokesperson for the RNC Ann Coulter ever apologized for calling 911 widows harpies or calling for the poisoning of a Supreme Court Justice? Has Bill O'Reilly ever apologized for saying a kidnapped young boy enjoyed his captivity with a child molester? Has the administration apologized to CIA agents around the world for outing one of them for political purposes? Has anyone apologized to the U.S attorneys fired for no other reason than they would not drum up charges against Democrats? The answer are no, no, no, no, no, no; because the extreme wing of the Republican Party is void of morals and has no shame.
I agree with Plainjane. Stark was only voicing what more than 70% of his countrymen are thinking. Why should the President be off limits when he started this fiasco knowing zero about Iraq or the probable consequences of his rash decision to invade without a post-invasion plan. He has been reckless and irresponsible with American treasure and American lives. We are stuck with Mr. Bush and his war because pulling out might cause a regional war. You know, the WWIII he spoke of a few days ago???
The President and his VP have attacked the patriotism of anyone who opposed his decision- calling them Neville Chamberlain appeasers, and accusing them of enabling the terrorists. His assistant, Karl Rove, came up with the plan to swiftboat Kerry and put a real hero, Max Clelland, who left half his body in Vietnam, in an ad with Osama bin Laden. That is the real atrocity, and the fact that Rep. Stark was pressured to apologize so no Republican feathers would be ruffled.
Eric,
I see that psychotherapy for your BDS isn't going so well...maybe its time to double your meds.
Gee plainjane, I'm sorry...that you're so angry.
Feel better now?
eric fuller, just looking at your post. Where did you cut and paste it from?
Libearls, thanks for showing your true colors THIRTEEN months before the election. Can't thank you enough. Keep it up.
What's more obscene? This Obscene War - or the obscene comments made about it?
You know what's more obscene, Airheadtime? The fact that you, plaindumbcowjane, and krispycritter are using up valuable oxygen. Why don't you three go jump in front of a train, so we don't have to read your regurgitated lies?
Disclaimer: By suggesting that Airheadtime, plaindumbcowjane, and krispycritter jump in front of a train, I was in no way, shape, or form threatening to force them to do so. I am a peace-lovin', libgressive-hatin neocon who loves his God, his wife, his daughter, his dogs, his cats, and soon, his guns. I wish no harm on anyone; I just want the left to be wiped off the face of the earth.
Disclaimer #2: By stating that I "just want the left to be wiped off the face of the earth, I was in no way, shape, or form threatening to do that myself. I am a peace-lovin,...you get the drill.
Airhead, why don't you, the cow, and krispy mosey on over to hate-americablog.com, where your stale rants will be heralded as brilliance? And take AgentFart and erica with you; nobody here with any intellect is influenced by their bilge...
mosey on over to hate-americablog.com

Recently, keefer, you have been pimping that blog at every opportunity. What's up with that?
Gee plainjane, I'm sorry...that you're so angry.
Feel better now?

Nope!!!! I am frustrated with the Democratic leadership. I know their actions are what is best for the long term future of our country; get through the next election with the Presidency and Congress safely in Democratic hands, but we can no longer afford to give this incompetent administration one more opportunity to make a critical decision on behalf of the American people.
I have two Blue Dog Democrat friends who live in the district represented by Pete Stark. I hope they are ashamed of him. His comments were meant specifically for the el cubos and also the his Muslim constituents.
When is "hot tub" Tom Delay getting a pardon? - AIRHEAD
Maybe AFTER he has been convicted of something. So far the Democratic witch hunt as brought any convictions against Delay. But airhead has already convicted him. That's the liberal justice system.
The president has admitted that he sleeps perfectly well at night, despite the quagmire he's enveloped his country in. He rides his bike, clears brush, and believes in his heart that he answers to a higher power. He has never answered to us or the Iraqis for the tragic mistakes he has made in the conduct of this war. Yes, the surge has decreased the violence in Baghdad, but we are no closer to a political solution, and it is obvious that Iraqis lack basic commodities like electricity, jobs and clean water after 4 1/2 years of war. Now, the rhetoric is pounding again, driving us towards an attack on Iran. Iran is not weak like Iraq was-they will not take an aerial attack lying down-but will likely retaliate against our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, shut down the oil supply in the Gulf, and sponsor terrorism worldwide. As little as we knew about Iraq, we know even less about Iran, since we have had no formal relationship with her leaders since the Shah was overthrown. But a sure way to unite the entire country, as well as the Muslim world against the US, would be to widen the war. That is exactly why Bush/Cheney will do it.

Keefer, so you think God would find your obvious rage and hatred of others as a Christian attitude? I understand disagreeing with the views and opinions of others, but the name calling goes beyond the pale. Seriously, if you consider yourself a true Christian, (and I am trying not to be judgmental) maybe you could look into yourself and discover why you harbor such hate towards those who do not agree with you and dare to voice a different view of the subject matter. Does this anger ever spill over towards your wife and child if they disagree with you?
Maybe Pete Stark's comments were too painful
because what he said was the Gospel Truth.
You seriously believe that President Bush amuses himself by getting US soldiers butchered, I take it.
Seek psychiatric help.
plainjane,
"Have the Swift-boaters ever apologized to Kerry?"
For what? For exposing that many of Senator Kerry's claims were untrue or distortions of the truth. Like his trip into Cambodia under orders of President-elect Nixon? Which Senator Kerry later had to recant. Or the questionable circumstances for which he received two of his Purple Heart? When there was no enemy contact and his commander turned down one of the recommendations, only to have LT Kerry resubmit it months later with a new CO. Or his testimony before Congress where he described war crimes that never occurred.
"Did Limbaugh apologize for mocking Michael Fox or for calling troops who speak out phony?"
As I remember, Rush questioned the accuracy of the Michael J. Fox ads and exposed the fact that Mr. Fox had manipulated his medications so to have the maximum emotional effect.
Obviously you have been drinking too much of the kool-aid. At this point, only you, and a handful of individuals with terminal BDS, still believe that Rush was talking about a member of our Armed Forces who speaks out against the war. The rest of the universe knows that he was speaking specifically about those paraded out by the left that have never served or who have fabricated stories, like Jesse Macbeth or Scott Beauchamp. Rush is one of the biggest supporters of our men and women in uniform, both with his words and his actions. How many liberals have donated millions to support the troops, as Rush has?
"Has the spokesperson for the RNC Ann Coulter ever apologized for calling 911 widows harpies or calling for the poisoning of a Supreme Court Justice?'
Earth to Plainjane? Ann Coulter is a private citizen with no ties to the RNC.
Has Dr. Dean ever apologized for saying that he "Hates Republicans and everything the stand for"?
"Has the administration apologized to CIA agents around the world for outing one of them for political purposes?"
Perhaps you hadn't heard. Ms. Plame was first "outed" by Aldrich Ames in the 80's, then by the CIA when the Cubans opened a diplomatic pouch being sent to the Swiss Embassy in Havana. Once you have been "outed", you cannot be "un-outed". There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people on the Washington cocktail circuit that knew where she worked. Joe Wilson made sure of that.
"Has anyone apologized to the U.S attorneys fired for no other reason than they would not drum up charges against Democrats?"
What flavor of kool-aid are you drinking? Some were fired for not aggressively persuing election fraud. Some had poor appraisals. Regardless, they serve at the pleasure of the President, and he can fire them at any time. The only reason this is a "scandal" is because it is part of the "Bash Bush Each Week" club. One week it is "outing" "spies" who have already been outed. The next week it is balming the failure of the state and local governments to perform during Katrina. This week, its the fires in CA. Who knows what it will be next week.
I'm sure the Bush Administration would apologize to the US Attorneys, as soon as President Clinton apologizes to all of the US Attorneys he fired for political reasons.
"the extreme wing of the Republican Party is void of morals and has no shame."
You mean like the Senate Majority Leader, who was involved in a fraudulent land scheme, orchestrating a smear campaign in the Senate against a private citizen. When will Senator Ried apologize to Rush Limbaugh? Or the leading Democrat candidate accepting bundled campaign contributions from obviously fictitious people. Or a subversive group running a full-page add questioning the patriotism of the Commander of the troops in Iraq. Was Moveon.org apologized to General Petraeus? Or a member of the House declaring the Hadifa Marines guilty before any investigation was done? We're still waiting for Rep Murtha's apology. Or the NYT disclosing classified programs. I wonder how many US service members have died because we were unable to detect their communications? Or the Speaker of the House trying to undermine our national security by pushing through a resolution about something that happened over 90 years ago, knowing that it could disrupt the logistics supporting the Global War on Terror. When will she apologize for jeopardizing our national security.
And you call Republicans immoral and shameless? The Democrats have got the immorality and shamelessness market cornered. You guys wrote the book on corruption (1960 Presidential election), immorality (Bill Clinton, need I say more), and the quest for power, regardless of the consequences (Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, etc).
Nothing that the leftist RATS do any more amazes me.
The whole traitorous party is beyond contempt!
from the name calling, to aiding the enemy, and visiting countries who are at war with us is showing that liberalism = insanity.
plainjane...honestly, I worry about you..how you can keep coming back here and getting b***h slapped with the truth and facrs , time and time again. Makes me wonder if you have a co-dependency. battered syndrome persona going on..
Does this anger ever spill over towards your wife and child if they disagree with you?
No, it doesn't, sunni, but then again, they're not stupid lib cows like you and jane...
