Margolis this might fool some people who want this to be the truest thing they read all day but to journalists like myself that follow politics all the way down to street level it doesn't hold water. You never mention, quite skillfully I might add, the person who holds public office that levied these charges against Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid Missouri or whether these charges had been brought before. And why take the CNS link, wouldn't the AP be a more credible source? Just another case of prosecutorial activism on the part of a theocrat trying to gain attention for his next run at a higher office.
Matt, I didn't even know that tax dollars were even going to planned parenthood. This is disgusting. I want no part of 4,000 children in america being killed everyday. If anything, these funds should be sent to various pro life groups around the country.
Look, you sad excuse for an intelligent being, we have 6.5+ BILLION people on this rock. When is enough enough? There will come a time very soon where your 'morals' will be tested. It will be live or let die. I wish I could be around for your 'revelation' as to the true meaning of life but unfortunately, I'll be struggling to survive as will you and won't have much time for screwing about on the nets as it were.
Good luck and God speed! We will need it all shortly. And, BTW, Planned Parenthood is and will be the least of my and your concerns, it's just a good start.
Not one more dime for Planned Parenthood, and not one vote for Rudy or Mitt.
Giuliani said: “I’m pro-choice,” He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded.
Romney was asked to clarify his position on abortion, Romney said:
"As governor of the commonwealth, I will protect a woman's right to choose under the laws of the country and the commonwealth. That's the same position I've had for many years."
We don't want either of these gentlemen in the White House.
It so funny that the right wing only associate Plan Parenthood with abortions.
There is also prenatal care, birthcontrol, HIV education and assistance with adoptions. I would much rather spend my taxpaying dollars to this group then Blackwater (Iraq or any part of that war).
With the SCHIP bill it is hard to listen to anyone who supports abortion try to put on some theatrics and showbiz by telling the press "look at these Republicans don't care about kids, when their abortion clinics are making hamburger out of kids by the millions.
markolio
to me this story is a almost a non issue
but i understand you ire due to the life/death core of it
our govt wastes so much more than $300m on life/death matters
but again, i respect your concern
i was hoping you'd do a story on hillary spending $1m on the woodstock museum
and then i read this:
Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is pushing $25 million in earmarked federal funds for a British defense contractor that is under criminal investigation by the U.S. Justice Department and suspected by American diplomats of a "longstanding, widespread pattern of bribery allegations."
i guess it doesn't matter which side of the aisle you're on
they are both incredibly corrupt
i can't vote for giuliani, mitt or hillary
who to vote for?
the lesser of the evils
or my prediction?
by the time next nov comes around
the u.s. people will vote for whoever "appears" to be the most honest and ethical
the other issues will almost become secondary
The name "Planned Parenthood" is an oxymoron to Catholics.
So, MORE THAN 60 people constitutes a story? Boy, that would take more than six people to count on BOTH hands! How about millions of people calling for the end of the Middle East Death Fest/war and the impeachment of Bush/Cheney?
Naw, they don't count. Every man, woman and child living in this great country should be GLAD to fork out $8,000.00 EACH to fund the Iraq debaucle. I'm SURE all the right-wingers here can't wait to write that tax check.
Onward Christian soldiers.
Margolis this might fool some people who want this to be the truest thing they read all day but to journalists like myself that follow politics all the way down to street level it doesn't hold water.
With all due respect, Diane, covering the "news" for a supernatural kook blog hardly qualifies one as a journalist. Sooo, where else do you practice your journalism--the AP?
With no due respect Diane, wouldn't the seriousness of the allegations merit an investigation? According to your prefered news source the AP, there are 107 alledged counts, 23 of them felonies, perpetrated by a man against women.
You do support womens rights right? If these women were in any way subjected to proceedures that they were not comfortable with and now feel unsure about speaking out against, wouldn't you want to know?
Or do you have an agenda to bide by? An agenda that really doesn't care about the women, c'mon, you can be honest.
Not one more dime for Planned Parenthood. Posted by: Matt.
I agree, Matt. Planned Parenthood has been the cause of more death than anything.
We need to lay the Law down on these kooks...kooks like Tillerman in Kansas who is a Murderer...and who needs to be put of the abortion industry for good, as does ALL Abortionists (Murderers)!!!
Jeremiah
Hey, Neo4life and I agree on something! This is a supernatural kook blog. His words, not mine. I would have written "religious enthusiast townhall" :-)
Hey, other neo, YOU ARE A CHILD MOLESTER! There. Given the seriousness of the allegations, shouldn't there be an investigation?
This is a classic example of why the judiciary must be separate from the legislative and executive, and especially the church. Brian Burch, president of the Catholic advocacy group "Fidelis" speaks out against Planned Parenthood. Big deal. He sends a letter. Big deal.
Phill Kline, who served as the finance director of the Johnson County Republican Committee, attacks Planned Parenthood, and spells his name with two "L's", clearly another closeted dysfunctional, who not only hates women's rights, but hates women, too.
How's that for a little Rovian smear-job? I ACTUALLY think he has Clinton-envy, given that he named his only daughter "Hillary" in 1992. What are the odds?
You can't make decisions for other people, boys. End of discussion.
USA
The inherent fascism of liberalism has never been more evident than with congressive. Any challenge to their opinion is met with false accusations (can you say Plame), personal attacks and the attempt to silence. Unbelievable that he would discard the actions of Dr Tiller to "no big deal", not too mention blatantly ignoring the opinion of Fidelis, which represents the millions of Catholics in this country.
Their way or the highway brand of fascism, and the voting public is tiring of it.
It so funny that the right wing only associate Plan Parenthood with abortions.
There is also prenatal care, birthcontrol, HIV education and assistance with adoptions.
...and Hitler made the trains run on time.
the u.s. people will vote for whoever "appears" to be the most honest and ethical

lenny, you're a bit delusional if you think that the MorOn.org and DailyKooks crowd are gonna follow this assertion. The left is running, once again, against Bush, and all things GOP. Hell, if Ted Kennedrunk suddenly switched parties and declared his candidacy for President, he'd still lose in a landslide.
neocon, great response to Broder. Actually, none was needed, since nothing he said made any sense. Especially his assertion that you're a child molester. Where'd he get that crap?
I see Diane's just a "hit and run" troll, as are most of the others over at her kook blog. I just hope they don't lay a satanic curse on me; my golf game's been bad enough this year...
“With no due respect Diane, wouldn't the seriousness of the allegations merit an investigation? According to your prefered news source the AP, there are 107 alledged counts, 23 of them felonies, perpetrated by a man against women.

Thanks for the lack of respect coming from the likes of you Neocon that’s a compliment pal. No I don’t support this diaphanous thing called women’s rights we’ve already got right what women need now is equal rights. Having a monthly menstrual cycle, functioning breasts and sitting down to pee should not cost women a quarter of every dollar they earn vice their cycle free, breastless [with the exception of Meat Loaf Aday] and standing to urinate brethren. It’s a canned political story meant to drum up the Overland Park republican base yet again on that terrible problem they have with too many Latinos and blacks moving in with educations and running a plow across that lily white playground that was theirs to do as they would from the day after Alf Landon [the Al Gore of the GOP in the Depression Era] left the governor’s mansion in Topeka.
I have neither an agenda to abide by, nor the time to bide here defending something I do not have. I and my colleagues at that “supernatural kook blog” as you call it are at dedicated to bringing the news as we see it and reporting BOTH sides of every story. You will never see us shade links to mask agendas as Margolis has done here with the wacko fundie former AG of Kansas a man half the bloody state would rather see in a landfill than holding public office. We give everyone a voice something you guys with your carefully moderated comments and weak sensitivities to a little swearing or laughable threats of violence or even worse to nudity, sex or dare I the lesbian reporter say it homosexuality. All of these things that have existed for millennia are suddenly planet killers or at least the weapon that of course along with Al Qaeda will destroy America by robbing you of your future generations because gays don’t breed.
Rubbish!
The whole “supernatural kook” thing has my panties in a bunch. No, I don’t mind being called names or having the integrity of those I associate with here in the great beyond called into question by the living. It’s all good. But what does “stick in my craw,” as my proud Iowan Methodist of a father used to say, is that people who think they are going to be taken up into the sky flying without the benefit of airplanes and everyone else is going to be left on Terra to suffer before going to Hell which is where everyone who doesn’t follow an impossible set of rules is tormented forever. Close, but no cigar. What you have in your minds is really quite different and I apologize for being flippant. What you believe is that those who are like you and a those you love no matter what they have done to the detriment of their fellow men will get a pass from the Almighty because you love them and they are special to you and thus must be special to the Creator of All Things. Taking this direction, however, this means that either everyone is “Saved” or everyone; at least most of them go to this next dimension to a place called Hell. Now if all of this salvation business is just balm for hot heads to cool fetid minds that would spend its hours short as they are weeping for each and every sin rather than rolling the ball up the hill for whomever they are trying to make wealthier with their labors then why not live your lives to the fullest. If everyone can get a pass on their death bed by going to church or reading the Bible why have any ethics at all why not just live lives of selected morality. Oh, that’s what you all are doing! It’s the forgiveness part that makes every Soul savable. I bet there are many of you who write here your comments in defense of conservatism and the Bush administration who have at least one person in your families or circle of friends that has committed suicide. You can read our Constitution and see what we feel about The Living killing themselves and I know what the Bible says about it but yet we’ve had folks tell us that their deceased loved one who ate a shotgun barrel is playing a harp and wearing wings. Well being on the supernatural kook end of things I personally had to set them right and inform them that no matter how much you loved your dad/mom/sis/bro/cousin/best friend/ex girl/boy/friend-lover/mistress. They are in Hell as sure as Al Sharpton can talk faster than the Mississippi River runs and Carl Rosen was the King of NY Garmentos."
"Religion is easy if it is a buffet of ethics that allows one to feast on sin and then expect someone else to pay for your meal."—Pain, On Reasoning, Terra Immortalis, codex cxviii.
Cavalor mentioned something about thinking that those in Hell spend their days going around putting curses on the Living. LOL! Now that made my day Neocon4life, but silly if you want your golf game to get better you need to play more, close your stance a bit if you slice and take the club away a little more slowly.
...republican base yet again on that terrible problem they have with too many Latinos and blacks moving in with educations and running a plow across that lily white playground...Diane
I had no idea you were such a racist and a sexist.
....wacko fundie former AG of Kansas a man half the bloody state would rather see in a landfill than holding public office...Diane
Not too mention intolerant of other views you disagree with, and an advocate of violence.
You obviously have a very empty soul and in the absence of a deeper understanding of His word, you have chosen to buy into the perverted interpretation and definition offered up those with the same lack of understanding.
You also have a deep seeded resentment of society, most likely as a result of your failings. If you harbor such negative attitudes towards society and towards others you disagree with, you're only hurting yourself.
Worry only about that which you can control. Work towards bettering someone elses life today and in turn, your life will benefit.
Oh whatever, Neocon!
To even speak intelligently about a soul you would have to have one. Wow talk about right wing psychobabble what does any of that shite mean neocon? Calling me names and trying to make me cry *sniff* because I am such a well paid violent racist/sexist failure because I didn't get the pony I wanted when I turned 9 and now I hate all fundie neocons like you and want to run them through the Zyklon-B wing of the Mall of Genocide as soon as you guys are done with most of Southwest Asia.
Get over yourself, neocon, or better go take some community college classes in a history that had nothing to do with white folks and how "great and civilized" we were supposed to be. Start with ancient China you'll need to know so you can teach your grandkids how to bow properly in respect to your new Masters.
I thought this was a place where people can really debate not just somewhere people come to call each other names and then go back to their cubicles. Well I was always told that in a battle of wits you must go armed to the field seems most of you wingers show up empty handed save for a Bible and a few talking points. Spend some time in Europe and grow up!
I wasn't calling you names, but you do play the victim card very well. I was merely pointing out to you that you are indeed a racist and a sexist evidenced by the very words you use. That's just a simple fact. Anyone who used the language you did would be labeled the same.
In your earlier post, you were debating NOTHING. Your diatribe was nothing more than an attack on Christianity and an attempt to silence those you disagree with. You then continued your hostilities in response to me.
You are an empty vessel on a sea full of them. Just another one of the masses. Sad.
You see Neocon that's where we diverge. You live in a place where being accused of something is worse than being something. Look to Senator Larry Craig for a shining example of that one. I gave my opinion if you think it's racist or sexist good on you but I am not going to act like one of the myriad of right wingers who go fully pale at the thought of being labeled because of their views. I think the great bulk of what white Protestants hold dear is out of the fear that they are being replaced in the power structure by minorities. In Iowa and all across America I have seen quite a bit of this. Abortion protests, support of low upper class tax rates, defiant stances on affirmative action and immigration are all knee jerk reactions to the state of race in America which is a topic most middle class white Americans cannot engage in without getting effusively angry.
That’s no surprise to me Neocon because my people are the same ones who will pay out 2.4 trillion dollars for a war that will result in the loss of more American lives than 9/11 and prove only that America sucks at building democracies in places where they would rather have the electric on 24/7. None of this matters though because you’ll have Hillary Clinton and women like me to blame for all the post Bush fallout. The recession that hit after Clinton was Clinton’s fault but the mess that will be left after Bush will never be left at the feet of Dubya.
But of course you are going to make more “empty vessel” statements and say how sad I am and that is par for the course. How is it when Dubya makes a blunder and the media calls him out on it and the bloggers pile on as they always do [I love a good dog pile] that anyone who wants to discuss such things and seek some sort of conciliation on the part of wingers they suffer from BDS? But when I want to talk about the smear campaign against Valerie Plame Wilson I hear crickets. Remember when you guys screamed to the rafters that she wasn’t covert now I can’t find three right wing bloggers who ever uttered a peep about her. Nuclear counter proliferation? Boy Cheney picked the wrong chick to mess with didn’t he? And you know what if you are going to walk around with your be all and end all religion on your sleeve like a giant red eyed horsefly then of course not caring to be proselytized on a daily basis by people who can’t follow what’s in the Bible then I’m a big old fly swatter. If you can’t defend you religion’s place in the public sphere maybe you ought to take it back to the house of worship the home and your hearts where the essence of faith belongs.
If you’re gonna play with the big girls Neocon you’re going to have to find a better field to play in than Noonan’s little fiefdom here. Read a book, talk to an illegal immigrant, and watch something other than Fox News. Hey, that’s a great idea try watching the BBC for a week and get some news that trumps anything in the US.
I think the great bulk of what white Protestants hold dear is out of the fear that they are being replaced in the power structure by minorities.
What about the "black" Protestants? You think this way because you are a racist, and have no soul, and lack the basic understanding of Faith.
...white Americans cannot engage in without getting effusively angry.
The racism continues, along with a dangerous inner rage.
That’s no surprise to me Neocon because my people are the same ones who will pay out 2.4 trillion dollars for a war that will result in the loss of more American lives than 9/11 and prove only that America sucks at building democracies in places where they would rather have the electric on 24/7.
Who's "my people"? And what??????????
But when I want to talk about the smear campaign against Valerie Plame Wilson I hear crickets. Remember when you guys screamed to the rafters that she wasn’t covert now I can’t find three right wing bloggers who ever uttered a peep about her.
I utter a peep about the fraud that is Plame. She shouldn't have sent her husband and lied about it if in fact she was covert. She is a committed left wing ideologue with an agenda that ended up ruining her. It's nobodys fault but her own, oh and Armitages. You know who Armitage is, don't you?
I was humored by the rest of your post which essentially amounted to NOTHING but to further reveal your utter contempt for Faith and anyone who disagrees with you. In fact, with each post, you're becoming more and more unhinged. Can you say fascist?
Boy Cheney picked the wrong chick to mess with didn’t he?
Let's see, Plame and her Greatful Dead wannabe husband have become a laughing stock and had their baseless lawsuit against Cheney dismissed.
Yes, that's one tough chick.
I agree that no one should give money to planned parenthood, but people have their rights, and it's not like they only give the option of abortions, they have other stuff too.
And i love how you people "fight" online, i bet you would never do it in real life... you're just doing it because you have a computer screen in between you guys...
Stefanie,
The one punch that it would take would not constitute a fight . . .
Neocon,
The last time I checked white people pretty much run the good ole USA and you boys on the political right seem to like it that way. Every time someone like Bobby Cutts comes up or murders like those of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom happen you can leave respectable blogs like this one Noonan and Margolis run and head off to vanguard and speak your mind to those who feel just like you.
I could give a flying pig what you think about me but there’s a generation or two of people coming up behind you guys that are going to have to clean up your mess. How important do you think that being “right” today will mean to them if they can’t make ends meet because you’ve made it impossible for them as middle class people to ever become rich or carry the debt and tax burdens on their shoulders? I haven’t even mentioned the cost of the Baby Boomers consuming the Social Security funds well before 2035. So you think because of your religion [which is what I loathe not Faith which is honest while religion can be corrupted by the ego, lust and ambition of Men] that it is noble to save the collection of cells that are in a woman’s womb 48 hours after conception but not a starving child in East St Louis because it’s his mother’s fault that she’s on drugs and didn’t just keep her legs closed? What sort of Faith can say “starve because you have no business having been born yet will carry around signs with dead fetuses on it? All viable life is sacred cannot be your motto because then you would have to take some responsibility for all children that are born not just the ones with blue eyes like me and blond hair and fair skin that might vote the way you like and follow sheep like the preaching of idiots like Hagee and Falwell.
I support abortion rights and all the other good work that Planned Parenthood does because without people like them and me Men like you would delight in reading in the newspaper about another 15 year old woman who died in an emergency room from complications from a back alley abortion, or had to be sent away to a place like a Crittenden Home, smug that they had taken a freedom from an entire gender they wish to control. All this harsh dealing, death and suffering of women would be pushed out of the clear sight of society into the dark closets where things relating to sex and intimacy belong in the tiny little minds of this virulent strain of theocrats and those not claiming to be theocrats who still have the gall to think their religion is the one and only way to salvation.
"What manner of Hubris is this that raises a stink up to the very cupola of the sky and makes the birds of the air fall to the dew moist ground lifeless and dares claim that is anything short of the worship of an Idol made by Man at best and blind self worship at its most sinister?"—Pain, Terra Immortalis, codex cxviii.
Plame did not send her husband to Niger the CIA did not Plame herself she was asked if Wilson might be keen to go she asked him and he agreed to meet with the section chief in charge of the fact finding. This was not something thought up by Plame but an operation by the White House Iraq group to come up with compelling evidence the American people could nod to for the invasion of Iraq and the removal of Saddam Hussein al Tikriti from power. Got that son? This isn’t some game you need to deal in facts not cherry picked points out of the GOP written version of a report on Wilson’s trip.
Was she covert Neocon? Did you join the drumbeaters saying she was by no means an agent and if she was she couldn’t have been covert? Well it turns out she was covert and working to make sure that Iran of all places doesn’t get good plans for building that bomb you all have your panties in a bunch about. Now wouldn’t that be hilarious that in the future children will be taught that Iran got the A-bomb because Cheney needed to have a scapegoat for Rush Limbaugh to tell all you willing accomplices to vilify. You want sad? Sad is how poorly a nation that could have greatness like America falls prey to superstition and petty bigotry in the name of religion while people of real Faith suffer as middle class wage slaves. That sirrah, is truly sad.
Well done Diane! We, Ourselves, applaud you!
There is more to moving America forward than wrapping up in the flag and marching to the beat of pious rhetoric that contradicts in its lust for slaughter while swearing an oeth to "protect life."
The fact of the matter is the the White Christian male is responsible for building the world greatest nation, the greatest economy with the greatest civil rights, the greast Bill of Rights, the greatest constitution, the most benevolent and successful on the history of the planet. Period.
There is nothing that you or your liberal secular morons COULD EVER DO that will top that. You, and people like you will destroy this nation and relegate it to third world status because you're too stupid and lazy understand the hard work required to continue.
Armitage is a free man. Speaks volumes of your beloved covert spy.
Neocon
Those "liberal secularist morons" you speak so ill of were named Franklin, Jefferson and Madison.
And as far as Armitage goes do you recall what happened to Bill Colby?
I suggest you read John Dean's "Conservatives Without Conscience" which will explain some of that fuming racism disguised as race pride in your accomplishments. No white man built America Neocon you might have had grand designs but the heavy lifting was done by black slaves, Chinamen and native Americans. Only the whites without profit generating land did any hard work and they hated the landed aristocracy in the Sotuh just as much as Abolitionists hated slavery.
For references on how the Southern Baptist church used the Bible to support white men keeping their black brothers in bondage I suggest you find Fredrick Douglass' "My Bondage, My Freedom." You never know Neocon you might gain something from a Liberal education.
