Gore to Win Nobel Peace Prize

Ah, sharing a prize once won by a murderer like Arafat, a fraud like Rigoberta Menchu and a communist apparatchik like Le Duc Tho...Gore would be in the sort of company he's earned:

OSLO (Reuters) - Former Vice President Al Gore and other campaigners against climate change lead experts' choices for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, an award once reserved for statesmen, peacemakers and human rights activists.

The man who had "no controlling legal authority" will now join an increasingly long list of people awarded a prize due to the Nobel Committee having "no controlling truth authority". Back when Teddy Roosevelt won it for, ya know?, actually helping to secure some peace, the prize actually meant something...now its just a way for international leftists to give prestige to leftwing ideologues and favored tyrants while thinking they are giving the United States a poke in the eye.

UPDATE: Gore is afraid to debate his global warming alarmism.

There was a time when we as Americans would have been proud of another American winning an International award. I guess that time has passed.

Casper,

Yes, that time has passed!

There was the time the Nobel Peace Prize actually meant something!

So AAR, would you feel the same way if it was Bush winning it?

Casper,

We'll never, in a million years, have to worry about a Republican President winning the Nobel Prize...but supposing, poof!, I am made President and they award me the prize - I'd make great play in chucking it into the gutter out in front of the White House, and I'd donate the money to a fund for helping children of American soldiers get college educations...you know, actually honor some people who do positive actions for peace.

To award what once was the epitome of world honor to a man who's accomplishments, to say the least, are extremely thin and to do it merely because he put out a movie on global warming shows that the Nobel Prize isn't any longer about recognising excellence, but about making leftwing political statements.

"We'll never, in a million years, have to worry about a Republican President winning the Nobel Prize."

Let's see Henry A. Kissinger won it in 1973 and unless my math skills have gone totally to heck, that was less than a million years ago. Look, I don't agree with a lot of the winners, but that doesn't mean the award itself is bad. I still follow the Oscars even though my favorite actor Bruce Willis has never picked one up.

Posted by: Casper [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 09:27 PM

Casper,

Though my history is a bit hazy in the early
1970's, I don't recall Henry A. Kissinger being the President of the United States. Advisor to Presidents, on several President's staffs yes but never elected as President.

Posted by: Ken at October 5, 2007 10:18 PM

Kissinger was president? Whoa - missed that one. When?

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 10:20 PM

"Kissinger was president? Whoa - missed that one. When?"

What were you on drugs for those four years? Just kidding.
Okay, you got me. He wasn't president, but he is a Republican. Are you suggesting that Republicans are incapable of coming up with a winner?

Posted by: Casper [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 10:32 PM

No, we are saying that the Nobel Committee is a liberal, Socialist organization that delights in sticking it to capitalist conservatives.

Any organization that will award their Peace Prize to a terrorist responsible for killing thousands, is a joke.

There are plenty of deserving conservatives, but they will never be considered, for the above reasons.

Posted by: A-10 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 10:55 PM

Honestly Casper - '73 was a long time ago. In the current insane and hate filled environment? No, no I don't think a Republican could win if he or she cured cancer or solved world hunger.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 10:57 PM

Kahn: No, no I don't think a Republican could win if he or she cured cancer or solved world hunger.

How would we know?

"No, no I don't think a Republican could win if he or she cured cancer or solved world hunger."

Let's find a Republican that does one of those things and I'll join you blasting the award if he or she doesn't get it.

Posted by: Casper [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 11:11 PM

I still follow the Oscars even though my favorite actor Bruce Willis has never picked one up.

I don't follow the Oscars because the good guys like Willis don't ever win. And I don't follow the Nobel Peace prize crap because idiots like Jimmuh Carter win. The Nobels have become the Oscars. Gore will probably win, although he's poisoned thousands of young minds.

So there you have it; there are just some Americans whom I hate. And AlGore is at the very top of the list.

The point I'm trying to make is that if Bush were getting the award, I would be cheering as an American. The same way I cheer the Rockies, Broncos, or the Nuggets regardless of what party the players belong to.

Posted by: Casper [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 5, 2007 11:27 PM

1H8L1BS,
Sorry to hear you have so much hate for some of your fellow Americans.

"...now its just a way for international leftists to give prestige to leftwing ideologues and favored tyrants while thinking they are giving the United States a poke in the eye."

Really? Leftwing, anti-American ideologues? Interesting. I guess that doesn't apply to Shirin Ebadi, who won the prize in 2003 for her efforts in support of women's and human rights in Iran. Or Aung San Suu Kyi, who won in 1991 for her brave opposition to the military regime in Burma - you know, the one that Bush has recently started to condemn. Or Elie Wiesel, the American holocaust survivor who won in 1986. Or Lech Walesa, the leader of the Solidarity movement, which fought for human rights under the communist regime in Poland. Or Mother Teresa, for her humanitarian work with some of the poorest and most wretched people on earth. Or dissident Andrei Sakharov, who fought for human rights in the Soviet Union.

And Kissinger, and the Red Cross, and Albert Schweitzer...

Another small point. I go to a baseball posting website, thecubsuck.com. Obviously, these are people who hate the Cubs, my favorite team. I get into arguments with them, defend my team, all that. Kinda the same thing as I do on this board, only...I don't think the other teams are evil over there.

Know what we call the folks on that board who are like "1H8L1BS!!!!!!!!!"? We call them "haters." They contribute nothing. They just hate.

Welcome to the world of the haters, pal. You have a lot of unseemly company. Congrats.

Posted by: Cyberactor [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 6, 2007 01:16 AM

Casper,

I would have gotten a little more excited if they had given the prize to one of the other nominees -- Rush Limbaugh!

I've had little doubt that Gore would get the "prize"; although, it could just as easily have been Michael Moore for his efforts to promote socialized medicine. After all, they gave it to Carter and Arafat the terrorist! It wouldn't surprise me if they gave one to Osama bin Laden or Ahmadinejad -- rationalizing that their efforts to unite the world under one religion would ultimately lead to world peace (facetiously or sarcastically speaking... I think). I really wouldn't care, though, if they gave it to that proverbial little yellow liberal dog... or never gave one again!

I don't pay much attention to the Oscars either; although, with all the attention heaped on them by Hollywood and the media, it's hard to avoid hearing something about them. The fact that a movie, actor, or related individual or group received an Academy Award or Oscar or cart full of 'em is of no value to me in predicting that I will like a particular film. In fact, I have found that the opposite is far more likely the case (and rapidly becoming a certainty) -- the more awards, the less chance I will like it, and the less chance I would ever watch it -- let alone pay for that privilege. ...Seriously!

Cyberactor,

You want to read real hatred? Go back to your liberal blogs!

I know what you Liberals call "folks like 1H8L1BS!!!!!!!!!". I know you call all people "haters" who disagree with your liberal agenda and Liberalism! I know you believe "they" contribute nothing to your socialistic goals!

I know too what you call the posts and comments of those "folks like 1H8L1BS!!!!!!!!!" on your hate filled Liberal blogs -- non-existent and banned -- although, you may permit a few of the more moderate ones to provide objects and targets for your hatred, ridicule, and jokes!

It's your Left-Wing fringe kooks who are the real haters in America -- they even hate America!

AAR, you really need to drop the whole, 'Democrats hate America!', nonsense. I'm a 17 year-old Democrat and I love my country. So does my liberal mother and veteran liberal father. And since when did you guys begin to tell everyone else who doesn't agree with your agenda, who is a true patriot?

Aaron,

They gave a Peace Prize to Jimmy Carter...that, in and of itself, is sufficient to condemn the Nobel Prize...but there was also the mentioned Rigoberta Menchu who MADE UP A STORY about being oppressed and was given a Nobel Prize for it...and even after it was proved she was a fraud, the Nobel Committee refused to revoke her prize.

Johathan,

I accept your statement that you and your parents do not hate America, but you support and enable those who do and you ignore or deny their anti-Americanism!

A person does not have to stand up and shout "I hate America" to demonstrate their unpatriotic, anti-American views and in effect, hatred of America. It's apparent from their words, actions, and deeds -- intended or not -- the effect is the same! Have you read the anti-American propaganda, rhetoric, and hatred produced by Liberals (Democrats) right here in the United States and spread instantly to the billions around the world by the world media, press, and Internet -- more often than not repeating the same identical articles? It's impossible for Americans to sort through the bias and understand the truth and facts, let alone those billions around the world.

Are you going to deny that the incessant anti-Bush, anti-war, and anti-American hatred from the Liberals (Democrats) has continued non-stop for the past 7 years? Is there any of it you would admit to or accept as fact? Or do you deny it exists? Have you read the Left-Wing blogs and read what real hatred is? The perceived hatred you see from Conservatives is frustration and hatred from what they see from Liberals and what it is doing to this nation -- perhaps not by you and your family, but by those with whom you associate, identify, and support!

Do you support the values and things that made America the great and strong nation it is, or do you support the Liberal agenda and socialism? Do your advocate requiring people to work harder and longer to support themselves and their families, or do you accept that they are "victims" and believe instead that others should support them through more and higher taxes and socialism?

Perhaps when you're 47, you will start to change your views, look back, reflect, and understand what happened! I don't expect you to see that now; although, I know people your age who do!

Really sticks in your craw doesn't it? Here Gore has become a rock star of international fame, receiving multiple prestigous honors, while W has ensnared the nation in an endless, costly quagmire, hid out at the ranch during the worst natural disaster in our nation's history, and has dragged the nation's international reputation through the mud, maintaining an approval rating in the high twenties or thirties. As a result, most predict that the Democrats will not only widen their margin in the House and Senate, but that the Clintons will be back in the WH. Its making me nostalgic for the 90's-----"Don't stop thinking about tomorrow".

Really,Its a political "Prince and the Pauper." At least we now know that Gore would have made a stellar president had not Katherine Harris made sure he lost Florida.

But, hey, if it makes you feel better to slime an honorable American- go for it!

I never really liked Al Gore, or his (The Earth needs to be saved rhetoric). but the idea of going green and exploring alterative energy is a great idea. His style is just lame, the selling carbon credits and calling people "global warming deniers" that disagree and all that baloney.
But, If you look at what is causing the American people finiancial trouble, it is Energy prices. What did you pay to fill up the old pick-up truck recently? I just got a 600 dollar utility bill for just the natural gas use alone. The democrats oppose drilling and have not offered any solutions to the American people. They spin the media before the elections, as (we are going to recover oil profits.)and make it sound as if it is going to benefit all Americans. But all they did was increase the taxes on oil royalties, which drove up the cost of oil. George Bush mandating 10% ethanol was actually doing something. I think the republicans need to be the party of action and not empty rhetoric and throw out ideas that actually help everybody in the U.S.A, Their are companies that make oil out of coal, ethanol out of garbage or wood, companies that have a film you put over your windows that generate solar power. Alternative Energy needs to be mass produced and affordable for everyone. The Energy Demand will keep growing as the earths population gets bigger. So the energy that is not renewable will continue to have a higher and higher price. Constant inflation

Mark...I came to the conclusion that the Nobel Peace Prize was a joke the second they gave it to Yasser Arafat.

Yea. Lets bash a nobel prize winner.
Talk about sour grapes. I'm not surprised, however, since you are the people who voted this jerk into office. The bigger question is this - How nice is your trailer (the kind you live in)

Algore should get the prize for being the biggest crybaby in the world. He tried to steal a close election based on lies, fabrication, and a left wing media.Losing his case,he appealed to the state supreme ct of florida, who illegally tried to change the voting law.The US Supreme Ct ended the nonesense.Algore, the man who invented the internet,is now selling fairy stories about global warming.Knowing nothing about astronomy,Algore still has a following.Redic
