Carefull, or You'll Catch Patriotism!

ROFL:

WASHINGTON — Being around NASCAR fans requires no inoculation.

That was the word Thursday from Republican officials after they learned that a congressional committee's Democratic staffers had advised aides to get vaccinated for hepatitis and other diseases before visiting NASCAR events in Concord, N.C., and Talladega, Ala.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said his committee aides were visiting health-care centers, detention facilities and other operations where they could be exposed to communicable diseases. He said the immunizations were routine for health-care workers.

"Democrats should know that there is no preventive measure yet designed to ward off the blue-collar values and patriotism that NASCAR fans represent," said Linda Daves, the chairwoman of the North Carolina Republican Party. "If they aren't careful, they just might catch some of it."

Republican Rep. Tim Walberg, whose district includes the Michigan International Speedway, said Democrats must not understand the term "rubbin' is racing."

"To suggest that vaccines are needed to attend NASCAR races is insulting to millions of hardworking Americans who love their country and the smell of burnt rubber," he said.

Yep, gotta get immunized before you go to them, thar ferin' countries...like Botswana, Burkino Faso, or Alabama...can't be too careful, ya know? Some Democrat staffer might lose his taste for tofu and pick up a hankerin' for pork rinds!

Big news flash...
Anyone that's visited a Red State knows they're no different than the Third World. Get your shots before you go, don't drink the water while you're there, and watch out for the Opossums sleeping in the middle of the road.

Thanks mack.

This just in: When attending Democratic Party events staffers are recommended to have plenty of KYjelly and an open attitude.

Kahn-

I thought buttless chaps and astroglide were standard issue at all RNC functions, Foley, Craig et al.?

Naw, their a tiny minority over here.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 12, 2007 03:25 PM

How's that go?

Not all Democrats are convicted felons, but most convicted felons are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are gay, but most gays are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are closet socialists, but most closet socialists are Democrat.

Kahn: Naw, their a tiny minority over here.

I thought that was Ahmadenijad's line.

Posted by: Ricorun [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 12, 2007 03:29 PM

Rico, well he said it after killing some didn't he?

Here, it's OK to be gay if you're Democrat but democrats and the press (same thing) hound you out of office if you're gay and Republican. Unless you're the New Jersey governor.

What a fluff piece. Obviously the vaccinations were for the "health-care centers, detention facilities and other operations where they could be exposed to communicable diseases" that were also part of the same trip.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said his committee aides were visiting health-care centers, detention facilities and other operations where they could be exposed to communicable diseases. He said the immunizations were routine for health-care workers.

Yep, liberal media bias at work..

Posted by: winnowhead [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 12, 2007 04:01 PM

However, the staffers' itinerary for the Talladega race shows the only medical facilities they toured were a mobile emergency hospital with no patients present and stations for minor first-aid. Their schedule for this weekend's race in Concord, N.C., shows.
Yep, selective liberal editing at work ...

Kahn: Rico, well he said it after killing some didn't he?

What are you suggesting, lol!

Anyway, I meant my comment to be a joke. But to continue your train of logic into more important constituencies...

Not all Democrats are women, but most women are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are under 30, but most people under 30 are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are African Americans, but most African Americans are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are Jews, but most Jews are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are Latino, but most Latinos are Democrat.

Not all Democrats are Oriental, but most Orientals are Democrat.

Do you see a problem here? Heck, it's getting to be that a growing number of libertarian types are becoming Democrats (which is not to say that all Democrats are). And now the conservative Christians are putting up a stink. What constituencies are left? Is it just NASCAR fans? lol!

I kid in part. And in this case the reason I kid is to keep from getting depressed. On this site especially it seems like all people want to do is to denigrate individuals, groups, or even ideas just because they are not totally consistent with the party line. In so doing I fear that the party line to the point where it is just that -- a line, a one-dimensional construct. And frankly, I don't think that's healthy. At.All.

While reading a post about Democrats visiting Hillbillys, Kahn’s thoughts drift off toward homosexuals. He’s embarrassed and angry that he can’t focus on the topic at hand. He’s filled with self loathing and wishes he could quit thinking about manly pleasures. Desperate to get his rightwing trolley back on track he lashes out at Democrats.

“This just in: When attending Democratic Party events staffers are recommended to have plenty of KYjelly and an open attitude.”

Sure it’s odd that he would mention KYjelly in the middle of a post about patriotism, but he’s confused and frightened.

"Damn, why did I hit the POST button so quickly? moans Kahn. Now everyone on B4B will know I've been fantasizing about gay men again."

We all shake our heads and muse that it must suck to be Kahn.

Oops...

The line in my last comment should read: "In so doing I fear that the party line is constricting to the point where it is just that..."

Rick,
Speaking as an African-American Jew with a Spanish surname, I resent the contention that each group is mutually exclusive. Why, just yesterday I said to my uncle, Blanche Dubois, the over 45 Asian-American transsexual with a handicap parking permit, Blanche, says I, I think you’re the only small business owner (he sells NASCAR T-Shirts at Immigration rallies in Puerto Rico) married to an undocumented Canadian immigrant that isn’t in the Young Republicans Club here at Harvard. I don't know if he agreed; Cheney hauled him off to Gitmo before he could answer.

Watch the Glenn Beck program at 6 pm on CNN. Glenn Beck interviews Pastor John Hagee for the full hour about the End Times. I agree with Pastor John Hagee. I believe we are living in the End Times. Watch Glenn Beck's interview with Hagee tonight at 6 pm PST or 9pm PST.

If you haven't done so already, convert to Christianity. Accept and believe in God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior!

Dasein: I've always depended upon the kindness of strangers.

HA!

To be honest, that one I needed to Google though. I forgot about that. Anyway, now that we've established our literary credentials, what do you think of this real life example of a streetcar named desire? Rhinestones versus diamonds, I guess -- and the opportunity to tell the difference. Trying to navigate the murky morality of real life isn't only about sex.

But Glenn Beck? Jeebers, who'da guessed?

Things may look bad, but sometimes good comes out of bad. The breakdown of the Roman Republic led to the Pax Romana, two hundred years of relative peace, which gave Christianity the chance to grow. The plague during the Dark Ages led to the Renascence.

Oh but Casper you forget that the Reformation led to the Renaissance, which led to the Age of Reason -- all of which are eschewed by at least one person on this site because they were merely way-stations on the road to perdition. Proper cherry-picking requires careful cherry-picking. Silly boy.

Do what I did: make your teaching assistant worry about the end times. HA!

I'm kidding, of course. But just so you know, I figure the event horizon for the second coming it somewhere around 3 billion years -- which would make it well after Christmas. But I could be wrong.

"Do what I did: make your teaching assistant worry about the end times. HA!"

I teach Jr. High. The aide I have is for only two classes and he spends his time helping kids.
Three billion years would be good. I could catch up on my grading and get done with my wife's honey do list.

Tell your wife you have it on good authority that you have 3 billion years to cover her list. That oughta work. I would, however, like to hear her reaction after you explain it to her. But I'm guessing I already know how that will work out. Lol!

The problem is my wife adds to my list faster than I can get it done. Lol.

Casper: The truth is I think we turned a couple of students around this week. Life is good.

I joke around sometimes. I play the devil's advocate sometimes. Sometimes I'm actually serious. And seriously... bless you. Everything you've said, ever, suggests you do indeed have your students' best interests at heart. You are providing a very needed service, and in a selfless manner. I would hazard to say that you're a better man than me. I couldn't do what you do. I don't have the patience.

Rico, I completely agree with you on this. In fact, I have a big problem with the Dobson's in my party who practice this vehemently. Now, you may assert that I, as a libgressive-hatin' redneck, practice the same tactic. And you're correct, but I do it for two reasons: 1. In the big picture, I mean nothing, as a resident of MD, aka Massachussetts of the Mid-Atlantic. 2. I see no evidence of the other side working to unite this country, unless one's definition of unity is agreeing with all the whacked-out ideas of libgressivism. And I never will agree with anything the far left has to offer, when it comes to my freedom and my wallet.

However, if I were like Dobson, I wouldn't support any of the GOP front-runners. And I will support whoever's nominated to run against Hitlary, regardless. Well, not RuPaul, 'cause he's just another Kookcinich, in my book.

Not long ago, Dick Armey wrote a book about the Christian Right, and what it meant to the GOP. He was on Ingraham's radio show, and she was ripping him a new one. At the time, I was supporting her for doing so, because it appeared that Armey was jumping on the disgruntled former leaders bandwagon. I have since shifted my position, and, while I support anyone's right to have their beliefs and convictions, I also see great harm in a group becoming so one-dimensional that they can affect an entire election. I see this on the left, too, and it's not good.

We can end up with Hitlary, and a super-majority of libgressive Donkaroaches in Congress, if we follow this path. This, in my opinion, will be bad for the nation, and the world as a whole.

But it won't affect my flawed golf swing or my mediocre bowling...

Late to the party, but, it is kinda funny how the liberals make fun of Red states, yet, they are moving here in droves. I wonder why?

Down here in redneck land of NC where we love our NASCAR, we are expecting to take a minimum of 1 of NJ's House seats. Other Southern states expect to take more of the Blue state seats. Come on down, y'all! We gots good barbecue (it's a noun, not a verb, down here). Learn to get around with directions which include landmarks, not street names. And slow down. That's the way we like it. Living life to its fullest and most enjoyable.

Mark,

I agree with him also ... people are killing other people like never before ... I've never seen anything like it. It's just seems to be common to hear about it on the news anymore. So, I expect Him anytime now!

Only thing is, I just want about 30 seconds hang time ... a microphone in one hand, and my bible in the other, and holler out .... I TOLD YA SOOO!!

Back in the early 70s I happened to be strolling through the Morningside Heights neighborhood of NYC one morning when I came across a guy standing on a wall bordering Columbia University dressed in a green and white space suit. As I was walking by I caught a bit of his schpiel. Apparently he was seeking recruits to join him aboard a spaceship from somewhere that was due to stop by and pick up worthy individuals, because the end times were coming. Later in the afternoon I walked by again and he was still there. By that time there was a bit of a crowd around him. And there was a little old lady, who looked like she might have been indigent, trying to hand him her crutch. He refused it -- and her. He told her he couldn't take her. Apparently she didn't fit the criteria, whatever they were.

I can tell you the exact day it was: Monday, Sept. 4, 1972. I can tell you that because it was the day before the massacre at the Munich Olympics, and that is one of those days, like the Kennedy assassination, that gets seared into your memory. For a fleeting moment I thought maybe the guy in the spacesuit was right. Those were turbulent times for all sorts of different reasons -- the Vietnam war, civil rights, the Black Panthers, Baader Meinhoff and other Red Army Factions, Palestine, Northern Ireland, the Cold War was still in full bloom, as was the Cultural Revolution in China...

But the guy in the spacesuit wasn't right. Life went on. My parents went through WWII and the Korean war. Their parents went through WWI and the Depression. I suggest that maybe a little perspective is required.

Ricorun,
There are numerous times in history when people were expecting the end of the world. It seems to happen a lot at the end of a century. Somehow, the world just keeps going. BTW, thanks for the wonderful compliment. For the record, I certainly don't consider myself a better person than anyone else on this blog. I'm just blessed to be working at a job that I truly enjoy.
