Canned Koran

Want a toilet seat with words from the Koran printed on it? Well, you won't be able to get it in Italy. Details over at Battle Born Politics.

It is an outrage printing the Koran on a toilet seat! Everyone knows the Koran, the Bible, and a first edition of Dianetics should be printed on the the roll of paper. Perhaps, because most Italians have bidets, this was not an option?

congressive,

Funny - as it is, though, I agree with the basic concept of not printing the words of the Koran on toilet seats. A person's religion is exceptionally valuable to them, and thus I don't think we should ever wantonly insult a religion. On the other hand, I find it hard to get worked up over a toilet seat while some people who claim the title of Moslem are strapping bombs on autistic kids and sending them off to kill a few innocents in Tel Aviv.

I agree, Mark, and extend that to some Christians strapping on a few automatic rifles to midwestern teens and sending them off to kill civilians in Ramadi. The sad common denominator is that both the suiciders and the soldiers believe they are fighting evil.

Some airline catalog company sells toilet paper rolls printed with hundred dollar bills on them. Clearly this is not an insult to hundred dollar bills, but a parody of wealth. The point here is that all insults are in the mind of the insulted. If I printed the Bible on every surface in my house as a gesture of faith, including the toilet seat, that could be interpreted as having given my entire existence over to God, including the act of defecation, without which we would die in just days. Muslim outrage is simply a power play, a test of wills, religious thuggery, much like excommunication for blasphemy.

Religion and faith are irrational by definition, and should not be allowed to act irrationally to the detriment of others.

This is all pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking on my part, of course. As long as man fears death and embraces wishful thinking, the world will always ba a superstitious place.

Congressive,

If you know of anyone sending off midwesterners to kill civilians in Ramadi, then you should report it to the authorities, because any such murders will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law...

Now that we've disposed of your irrational Bush hatred, was there something else you were talking about? Oh, yeah, the irrationality of religion...would you like time to revise and extend your remarks?

Question:
What is the difference between the Koran printed on a toilet seat and say a Blessed Mother portrait "painted" in elephant dung or pictures of the Crucifix submerged in jars of urine, etc. etc.???

Anyone?..........Anyone?

Congressive,

You could write the Scriptures all over your walls and every object in your house, tattooed(sp?) all over your body, painted all over your car, your out-buildings and everything...and they are worthless.

Jesus wants them in your HEART, in order that you may know the life changing wonders of His Love and Power!!!

If you have Jesus Christ in your life, it doesn't matter how rainy it is outside, your days will be BRIGHT!!!

WHAT A JOY IT IS!!! TO SERVE THE LORD!!!
HALLELUJAH!!!
THANK YOU JESUS!!!

Tired,

There is no difference. They are both offensive, they are both bad art, (in my opinion) and both deserved to be ignored, not banned.

The bigger question is, why do YOU care about offensive acts but not others?

"strapping on a few automatic rifles to midwestern teens and sending them off to kill civilians in Ramadi."

Go F*ch yourself.

Jeremiah,

Good point - those who desecrate don't harm God, they harm only themselves.

The only difference I can see is the degree of risk. Of course, this is not a moral difference between the two, but a difference in the reaction each invokes. The Koran printed on the seat may get you killed, with a note stabbed to your dead chest, while the elephant dung Mary and submerged Crucifix might get you a subsidy from Uncle Sam.

Religion and faith are irrational by definition,...congessive

Coming from someone who hasn't the least bit of knowledge of the word of God. Those without faith, and a personal relationship with God, are easily fooled by those who choose to distort and pervert the Word.

See here in the U.S.A. Artists have the ability to freely express their views and thoughts, whether against organized religion or the government or anything they wish. A good example if you don't believe me is heavy metal music. 4 the last 30 yrs u can go into an album store and find the most blasphemous, unholy album covers and flip over the album and find track like. Kill the Christians, Christ raping black metal, and look at songs like this for hours.

Now lets say an artist was to aim that same hate at Muslims, homosexuals, Jews, or a particular race. All hell would break loose, it would be on the news, lawsuits would be flowing, I think artists should be free to do what they want. If the can defile my religion, they should be able to defile all religions. Sounds fair, I can watch Family Guy, King of the Hill, or any T.V show, mock Christianity and be protected by the 1st Amendment. Why not poke some fun at ol MO, the jews, homosexuals and all the other protected groups that have hate crimes shielding them from anything they find offensive.

Jeremiah,

I have a few questions for you because I’m trying to figure you out a little. Hope this is ok:

1) Would you consider yourself a rational person?
2) How old is planet earth?
3) Does your God love all of us or only the believers?
4) Did you grow up in a religious home or did you reach these conclusions out of your own free will?
5) Do you think you would have become a Muslim if you had been born in a Muslim country?

Rasmus,

I have a few quesrtions for you:

1. Would you consider yourself a rational person?
2. How old are you?
3. Does your Mom love you and the postman?
4. Have you grown up or are you still dependent upon your parents?
5. Do you think that you would have been able to enjoy the life you lead in a Muslim country?

Posted by: neocon [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 29, 2007 12:36 PM

1) Would you consider yourself a rational person?

Rasmus,

I hope so! I seem to have gotten along just fine with everyone I meet, and they haven't said anything strange about me yet! So I guess you could call me rational.
See a Doctor and tell him what you think, and see if you are rational.

2) How old is planet earth?

Less than ten thousand years old.

3) Does your God love all of us or only the believers?

My God loves everyone. If He didn't, then He would have destroyed everybody at the time of the flood, But instead, He chose to give man another opportunity, and to prove that love to mankind, He sent His Only Son to die on the Cross.

4) Did you grow up in a religious home or did you reach these conclusions out of your own free will?

I grew up in a Christian home, but didn't really come to grips with Faith and the realization of my existence until later on in life, and one day it just clicked in me, and it has been the most wonderful experience you could ever know!!!

People are special--God loves all!!!

5) Do you think you would have become a Muslim if you had been born in a Muslim country?

There's a chance, but since the life and times of Jesus Christ, the Christian faith is in every country, and has been accepted by more than the Ideologies of the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and others.

Why? It is Truth!!! The Only Truth!!!

Thanks for your concern!!

The purveyors of monotheistic religions and the God of Christianity; the Jews, even Orthodox Jews, know that Earth is older than ten thousands years. Of course all of the following is made up; we all know man and dinosaur lived together.

Prehistory
early human migrations
Lower Paleolithic—Homo erectus spreads across Eurasia. Controlled use of fire from ca. 800 kya.
c. 100 kya—Homo sapiens evolves in Africa
c. 70-60 kya—Modern humans migrate out of Africa along a coastal route to South and Southeast Asia and reach Australia
c. 50 kya—Modern humans spread from Asia to the Near East
c. 40 kya—Europe first reached by modern humans
c. 15 kya—Americas first reached by humans
10th millennium BC—Invention of agriculture is the earliest given date for the beginning of the ancient era
7th millennium BC—Jiahu culture began in China
5th millennium BC—late Neolithic civilizations, invention of the wheel and spread of proto-writing.
4th millennium BC—Cucuteni-Trypillian culture in the Ukraine
4th millennium BC—Sumerian cuneiform, history's oldest writing system.

Ignorance does not have to be synonymous with Christianity.

reply 2 callmeteach.

If you have a child that was raised in religous schools. His parents move because of a job transfer. Now the child is in a public school that is telling him every belief he was raised with is a fairy tale and wrong. What does that do to a childs mind?. Makes them feel confused, rebel, feel foolish, then even act foolish.

What would be so bad about teaching evolution in a comparitive religion class instead of science. Science like chemistry, is hard fact, like math always the same result. Science like geography, and astronomy is alot guessing and estimates. Why teach the THEORY of evolution that tries to answer where we came from. Teach it with other exclamations of where we came from in a comparitive religion class. A Nancy Pelosi claim is "its all about the kids", right.? Why indoctrinate them against their parents Religion of choice.?

Chaldean's and Christian's from Sudan or Rwanda massacred by Arab militias,or the Christian converts that face execution from the Taliban. These people know what religious persecution is and many have moved here to get away from the Koran. 9/11, the crusades for the last nine centuries. Holy War that may never end. There is a Difference between Christians and Muslims. They want to have five wifes, make them wear burkas, not let them go to school or drive. I'm not going to say whether it is right or wrong. It works for them. It don't work here in the U.S. I get one wife, I can't beat her or any of that other great stuff, We simply have a different way of doing things. When we go to their lands we must follow their norms. When fasting for Ramadan you can't even get caught chewing gum on the street without punishment. The ACLU ain't going to get you a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the Saudi government because your offended that they have traditions. Here we have our Traditions. The retail sector of the market. Counts on a Christmas rally. Christmas is a Christian Holiday. Up here in Berkley, Michigan. The ACLU wants to take the Nativity scene off the lawn of the city building. Do we eliminate Christmas for everyone that enjoys it? Or businesses that depend on it. America has been Christian Land since its beginning. Our traditions are our traditions. Are you going to try to pick certain parts like the market rally and say that part is O.K but the rest of it has to go. Political Correctness is lame and unnecessary. Why can't it be as simple as "If you don't like the way we do it here. Move to Iran or China" maybe you'll like it better there.
