Michael Mukasey: A Strong Attorney General

From The White House...

Today, President Bush Will Announce His Intention To Nominate Michael B. Mukasey To Serve As America's 81st Attorney General. Judge Mukasey – nominated to the Federal bench by President Reagan in 1987 – will bring to this position a lifetime of legal experience and over 18 years of service as a Federal judge. While on the Federal bench, Judge Mukasey received praise for his thoughtful and fair handling of some of the Nation's most important and complicated terrorism-related cases, including the trial of 10 defendants accused of plotting terrorist attacks in New York City and Jose Padilla's challenge to his detention as an enemy combatant.

ABC NEWS: “Mukasey serves on the Justice Advisory Committee of Republican presidential candidate and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The two are longtime friends and Mukasey’s son Marc works at Bracewell & Giuliani.”

Hmmm. Gonzales gets the boot because he might be fixing election results in Bush's favor. So, let's appoint GIULIANI'S BEST BUD into that job for the NEXT election cycle.

It's like Schumer forgot Giuliani was running for president. Oh, but of course, Mukasey will NEVER let politics influence his decision-making process, right?

Riiiight.

Romney, Huckabee and the rest might as well pack it up and go home. The fix is in. What? You don't think Giuliani's best bud will "investigate" potential wrongdoing of Giuliani's opponents right before the primaries? Sure. You don't think the RNC might consider Giuliani a bit more "electable" with his pal counting the votes? OK.

I gotta hand it to 'em. These guys are good.

princella,

Why is it you post on B4B? Matt just made you look like an idiot with his post on Mukasey.

Please tell us how the AG gets to fix elections. How does one man do that? Does he somehow trick the thousands of non-appointed employees (on average half are Dems) in the Justice Department to help him? Please tell us your insane reasoning.

jb, you haven't been keeping up much, have you.

Gonzo fired US attorneys around the country who wouldn't prosecute Democrats right before elections on what turned out to be bogus charges. He fired US attorneys who wouldn't purge huge numbers of Democratic and minority voters without the voter's knowledge until voting day, which was too late to fix.

Did any of this sink in? Guess not. Have you been following the voter caging scandals in Florida? The voter suppression scandals in Arkansas? This story "A political tempest over the mass firing of federal prosecutors escalated yesterday with allegations from the departing U.S. attorney in New Mexico, who said that two members of Congress attempted to pressure him to speed up a probe of Democrats just before the November elections." Iglesias was then fired BY THE AG without explanation! Does that ring a bell? Guess not.

Mukasey will have control over WHICH voter fraud cases, Republican or Democratic, to pursue or shelve. This was Gonzo's sin. He made the DOJ into White House attack dogs, and fired those who wouldn't play politics with the justice system.

Only one man CAN purge hundreds of thousands of votes from the rolls. Only one man CAN indict political opponents without cause right before elections. That man is the Attorney General. Now it's gonna be Giuliani's best buddy, Mukasey, just in time for next year's election.

Class dismissed. I don't anticipate high marks on future tests, though.

congressive,
Other than Mukasey's ties with Giuliani, do you have any facts to back up your assertions?

Posted by: Casper [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2007 10:27 PM

Casper,
Can you make you question a little more vague and generalized so that I really can't answer it?

Your question makes me giggle, though. It reminds me of a classic ego maniacal thespian joke that goes "Well, other than THAT, Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play?"

Oh, and, I'm not a grammar nazi. The idea matters most. We all make typos. No biggie.

congressive,
You have asserted that because Mukasey is friends with Giuliani, that he will help throw the next election. Do you have any information on Mukasey suggesting that he has helped throw elections in the past? Do you have any information he has helped commit any crime?

Broder's got his shiny new tin-foil hat on; next we'll be hearing that this is a Bush/Rove plot to ensure that the GOP wins the WH...

Uh, Mackie-boy, Princella's post came around 11 hours after Matt's, and besides, nothing in either post was contradictory to the other.

Mackie-boy, why do you post on B4B? I just made you look like an idiot with my post on your post.

Mackie-boy, don't ever leave us. It's soooo easy to smack you around. You want mustard with that foot, son?

If you consider violating the Constitution "commiting a crime", how about this:

Still got the tin-foil hat on, eh, Broder?

I woulda never had you pegged as a conspiracy theorist, but, then again, you do suffer from BDS, so why not?

Get help. Get meds. Get f*cked...
