Possible Terror Threat for San Diego?

While looking at my histats at The Ice Palace, something peculiar came up:

My hair stood on end. I thought it somewhat peculiar that anyone would be searching for blueprints for the San Diego Sewer system; so I went and checked out the IP address:

Now why would someone who's supposedly currently in Uruguay want to obtain blueprints for the sewer system of the city of San Diego? I contacted the FBI with this information, first by phone. The guy on the other end pretty much hmmm'd and hawwed but finally found a person who is an expert in "cyber crime," gave me his email address, and had me email that person with the information. I don't know how strong the Gorelick wall continues to be, but my hope is that if I publish this information on this blog, and if it gets picked up, it may prompt some more timely and intensive investigation. My fear is that this information will go nowhere. If this turns out to be a benign coincidence, my apologies in advance; but I could never live with myself if it were otherwise.

People in San Diego--are you listening?

My first guess would be drug smugglers trying to get more dope from south america to american streets. But keep up the vigilance Leo.

Sleepy, you could very well be right. Again, I may be blowing smoke, but so did a lot of people who didn't put the pieces together before 9/11.

Again, if I'm wrong, I apologize in advance. I just don't think it should go ignored.

The Chargers could use the distraction. (kidding)

There is no such thing as too much vigilance.

Thanks for the tip for future reference - hopefully it's not our greater threat given the pending commencement of water rationing (uggh!)

Posted by: Steven W. at September 18, 2007 10:20 PM

Leo, perhaps you should email Roger Hedgecock http://www.rogerhedgecock.com/main.html from AM 600 KOGO San Diego, with this information. Roger Hedgecock is an insightful talkshow host. He recently found out about Carver Elementary School, a public school which had teacher led Muslim prayers during classtime. Hedgecock let his radioshow listeners know about Carver and those listeners in turn flooded the school with angry calls and succeeded in shutting down the Muslim prayers. Roger might investigate this threat? you've uncovered and see if there is anything to it.

Thanks, Freedom--I'll look into it.

Actually, South America is a known haven for Islamic terrorists...

Connecting the South American Terror Dots
By David Meir-Levi
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, August 09, 2004

Dot # 1: A Growing Threat in the Tri-Border Area of South America. (Terrorist and Organized Crime Groups in the Tri-Border Area (TBA) of South America. A Report Prepared under an Interagency Agreement by the Federal Research Division, Library of Congress, July 2003.)

Since the early 1980’s, Arab terrorists have been sending thousands of their cohorts to the almost inaccessible jungle and mountain region between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay (known as the TBA, Tri-Border Area or La Triple Frontera). Terror training camps and arsenals have been established, virtually out of the reach of local law enforcement or defense forces; and elements from Hezbollah, al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya, Islamic Jihad, al-Qaeda, Hamas, and the Lebanese Drug mafia operate in partnership, freely and openly in conjunction with local organized crime and corrupt government officials.

The TBA has become a virtual haven for Islamic terror groups and a base for terror operations against South American targets. The large and growing Arab population of these states (in excess of 750,000 by local estimates) provides a community highly conducive to the establishment of Islamic terrorist sleeper cells throughout the area. The attacks in Buenos Aires on the Israeli embassy (3/17/1992) and the Jewish Community Center (7/18/1994) are believed to have originated from terror bases in the TBA. Since the mid-90’s, government forces have foiled many more terror attacks against American, Jewish and Israeli targets, arresting some of the perpetrators.

CNN reported that an Islamic terrorist summit meeting was held in the TBA in late 2002, to plot attacks in South America and abroad. Security forces believe that future targets include USA and Israeli government offices, Jewish community buildings, hotels, tourism centers, airports and facilities of multinational corporations.

Iowa has Muslim terrorists and Muslim terrorist-supporters, too. Leo is right to be vigilant.

Iowa - Iowa man linked to Muslim terrorist organization

(Mar 9, 2007) via Lgf, "Five Muslims were charged in Illinois yesterday with money laundering for a terror-linked Islamic charity, the Islamic American Relief Agency."

Abdel Azim El-Siddiq, 50, of the 12200 block of South 69th Avenue, appeared before Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan facing three counts of money laundering, one count of forfeiture and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering for the Islamic American Relief Agency—the IARA. Charged along with El-Siddiq are Mubarak Hamed, 50, of Columbia, Mo., IARA’s former executive director and a naturalized U.S. citizen from Sudan; Ali Mohamed Bagegni, 53, of Iowa City, Iowa, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Libya and former member of the agency’s board of directors; Ahmad Mustafa, 54, of Columbia, Mo., an Iraqi citizen and former fundraiser for IARA; and Khalid Al-Sudanee, 55, a Jordanian who served as regional director for the agency’s office in Jordan.

All were arrested Wednesday except Al-Sudanee, who was being sought in Jordan, said Don Ledford, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, which will prosecute the case. IARA was an offshoot of an agency by the same name based in Khartoum, Sudan, officials said. The U.S. agency, formed in 1985, was shuttered in October 2004 after the Treasury Department deemed it a global terrorist organization.

Muslim Youth Camp in Iowa Revisited: (Mar 24, 2006) via Lgf, "In 2003, LGF had a series of posts about Muslim Youth Camps of America, a Saudi-connected Wahhabist group, and their plans to set up a Muslim camp in Iowa with help from the US Army Corps of Engineers. MYCA has now signed the 25-year lease and work will begin soon. (click link for article)

wow mark - you really are Joseph McCarthy come back to haunt us.

Wow, libtardTblockhead - you really are Forrest Gump, back to haunt us. Mark didn't start this thread, you stupid a$$hat, but you just proved my point in an earlier thread. You have sh*t for brains, and you have this desire to impugn whatever it is Mark posts. Even when it's not Mark posting.

I sure hope when we get hit again, and we will, that you're in the vicinity of the attack. Maybe you'll rot in hell, thinking about what might have been, had you listened to the adults...

I'll bet you anything that the server in Uruguay is an open proxy and that the real search is coming from a computer in an Al-Qaeda camp in Pakistan. Talk about scary! Nice detective work, Leo.

Riiiiggghhhhttt...
Terrorists are looking up San Diego Sewer info...then just so happens they decide to visit your website.

Whats even better, if they were indeed terrorists, you have just now tipped them off that you contacted the FBI. You even submitted it to Digg.

Great job Leo.

ah Leo sorry..

keefer- i really plead of you - for the love of god - just one post that has a substantive point. I don't care if I agree with it or disagree with it but try to do something else but just throw 2nd grade insults around.

Get this:
http://www.sewerhistory.org/
Im petitioning the FBI to remove that website. There is way too much information for Peruvian terrorists visiting Leo's website. We really need to be more diligent about stuff of this nature.

Maybe the FBI should monitor people looking at Leo's website. Who would have ever thought Peruvian terrorists would be so interested in his site!

Leo, you should definitely keep your day job. Being an investigator is certainly not your forte. The IP address does not originate in Uruguay. Thats were LANIC is located at.
The ip address originates in Trinidad & Tobago. A known hotbed of muslim extremists and socialists.

That it. Time to invade Uruguay. Or Trinidad. Wherever, doesn't matter, let's see that one percent doctrine in action.

The "second grade" insults are thrown around so you can understand them, libtardTkblockhead. But here's a point you can ponder, and I'll ask my friends here to either agree or disagree with me:

libtardTkblockhead is an a$$hat. Agree? Disagree?

Hey, stevomorn, there was a recent terror plot that was broken up, involving Muslims who lived in...you guessed it--Trinidad and Tobago.

Could you notify the FBI, since you have such pull with them? Please, stevomoron, only you can save us.

And one other thing: When are the men in black coming to interview me for "threatening" you, Zerojuevos, and AlGore? Stupid jerk...

Having internalized the arguing techniques of the right, 1H8L1BS takes a long look at the Caribbean radical culture, and gets it wrong.

http://www.nationnews.com/story/319156296966265.php

"Much of the troubling stirrings relating to the claimed foiled plot are based largely on allegations of a convicted drug dealer working as an agent with the FBI."

"The quartet of alleged terrorists, none of whom is known to have had any involvement in Islamic radicalism in the Caribbean, nor association with al Qaeda-linked groups, are yet to plead to the charges against them. Their family members have been defending their innocence."

May I suggest, as an option to you running your mouth, that you take a moment to think about what you're going to say. Better still, think Google and look it up. A little less hysteria, and a little more common sense, and this will go a lot better. As opposed to mounting an army against a foe that is not a state. Take a moment and think about it, I have high hopes it'll come to you.

I wouldn't be so optimistic if I were you, OP. Keefer has never given serious thought to any subject on which he has commented. He has an established modus operandi and will seldom deviate from it.

Take a moment and think about it, I have high hopes it'll come to you.

Take a moment and work on your punctuation; it'll make you appear to be smarter than you are. Also, don't quote The Nation as your source; it lessens your credibility.

Posted by: Pia Pium [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 20, 2007 06:10 PM

Oops, my bad; I thought you got that from The Nation. Now excuse me whilst I go read the trip you cited...

Posted by: Pia Pium [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 20, 2007 06:12 PM

Just read your link, Offensive Poop-brain; there's no concrete evidence that these people weren't involved in a terrorist plot. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

And you should heed CO's advice; however, he's just frustrated because I'm never going to jump on his hate-Bush/hate-America bandwagon. Cheerio!!!
