The CURRENT leader of the GOP
66% disapproval rating ....
The big W
causing Independents to become Democrats and Republicans to become Independents
don't see any GOP candidates rebuking him so why not run against Bush after all it was the GOP rank and file that empowered him since the beginning.
If Hillary wins in 2008 you only have W OR yourselves to blame ..... which is it going to be?
bush doesn't meet anyone half way on anything. Its like the argument that the surge is a "new strategy". Can you explain in detail what he has compromised on Mark
"the stuff with which civil wars are made - and my advice to you Democrats is to stop it."
You know Mark theres part of me hoping that they don't. We have the guns and ultimately, if forced, the numbers to destroy these morons completely. There is no doubt on who's side the military would be and no doubt that the country, in the long haul, would be better off without them.
Its only our sense of fair play and decency that keeps them safe, even when they are all to often violent and abusive. Perhaps this country needs a good fight to remove the divisive parts and to again present a more cohesive unified front.
I only hope that the consistent, willfully proud ignorance and naivety that many of the left show here is not representative of more than the usual 10% of loonies that exist on both sides.
Zoot, you'd better be careful, or Zeroballs and stevomoron will report you to the FBI for threatening them...
Bush is a real man, dems CAN'T HANDLE IT.Or understand it.He made his mind up and he sticks with it.He says it all right here in a book:
That’s what I mean by strategic thought. I don’t know how you learn that. I don’t think there’s a moment where that happened to me. I really don’t. I know you’re searching for it. I know it’s difficult. I do know -- y’know, how do you decide, how do you learn to decide things? When you make up your mind, and you stick by it -- I don’t know that there’s a moment, Robert. I really -- You either know how to do it or you don’t. I think part of this is it: I ran for reasons. Principled reasons. There were principles by which I will stand on. And when I leave this office I’ll stand on them. And therefore you can’t get driven by polls. Polls aren’t driven by principles. They’re driven by the moment. By the nanosecond.
The man stands for something, and he always will. Not polls. Dems HATE that. Like he says, you either know how to do it or you don't.
Mark-
You are right, the dems do focus too much on W. I am just as guilty. There is just something about his demeanor that riles our side.
sleepgene,
It's the integrity, the guts to do the right thing and not switch horses every few days. And the fact he makes decisions based on what is right, not what the polls say at the moment. That is his demeanor.
Now take Fat Al Gore traveling in his private jets, inventing the internet. Hillary, need I say anything? Kennedy, the same. Kerry, when to you think he will release his military records?
Demeanor. There you have it.
Yes, you liberals HATE. We get it. But, well thats ALL we see. No ideas. No national spirit. No desire to get things done. Just hate.
Liberals - as if you'll answer, what are the important issues to YOU? OK, the war - we get that. Anything else?
"This sort of hatred is the stuff with which civil wars are made - and my advice to you Democrats is to stop it. Really."
"We have the guns and ultimately, if forced, the numbers to destroy these morons completely. There is no doubt on who's side the military would be and no doubt that the country, in the long haul, would be better off without them."
Zoot, you exemplify the very hatred Mark is condemning. Are you guys still bitter about Sherman, too?
Gar Wood
"So extremist have they become that they have developed a white-hot hatred for a man who will meet them more than half way on education, health care, social security reform and immigration."
Bush deserves credit for No Child Left Behind and for his noble attempt at immigration reform. Bush compromised with the prescription drug benefit, but he has ignored the health care crisis in this country. And to suggest that Bush has been moderate on Social Security reform is patently dishonest.
But the reason why Bush incenses me and most Americans is because he has so severely mismanaged the greatest issues of our time: the war in Iraq and the GWOT. These are the policies that the GOP frontrunners are vowing to uphold, which is why it makes perfect sense for the Dems to associate the 2008 candidate with Bush.
Gar Wood
The CURRENT leader of the GOP
66% disapproval rating .... - neo
And an 86% dispproval rating for your leaders in Congress
..bush doesn't meet anyone half way on anything. - lT
Ted Kennedy co-authored NCLB
Russ Feingold co-authored the immigration bill which Bush supported
Russ Feingold co-authored the campaign finance reform bill which Bush supported
Other than that the new Congress has not sent ONE appropriations bill to his desk after 8 months, so pretty hard to guage the cooperation when your Congressional leaders AREN'T DOING ANYTHING.
...is because he has so severely mismanaged the greatest issues of our time: the war in Iraq and the GWOT. - Dead Wood
I thought the GWOT was a bumper sticker? How are the Dems going to "manage" a bumper sticker? Furthermore, the Dems only strategy for Iraq is to withdraw. So, if in fact the Iraq war is one of the "greatest issues of our time", why would withdrawing from it be a smart strategy?
I really look forward to your answers.
These are the policies that the GOP frontrunners are vowing to uphold, which is why it makes perfect sense for the Dems to associate the 2008 candidate with Bush.
Every single GOP candidate has stated that the post war strategy was flawed and that they would re-address the tactics currently employed.
Now, the reason the Dems will run against the Bush strategy is because THEY DON'T HAVE ONE.
Gar, except for the possibility of having the choice to put some of your social security money into stock, the Bush plan was exactly the same as the Clinton plan. And he would have been willing to negotiate. Instead Democrats in Congress cheered about how they blocked reform.
The Donkaroach Congress accomplished something the other day; they renamed a section of I-395 in Baltimore after Cal Ripken Jr.
I feel so much safer now--even safer than when they hiked the minimum wage. OBL must be shakin' in his sandals...
"I thought the GWOT was a bumper sticker? How are the Dems going to "manage" a bumper sticker? Furthermore, the Dems only strategy for Iraq is to withdraw. So, if in fact the Iraq war is one of the "greatest issues of our time", why would withdrawing from it be a smart strategy?"
Great questions. I disagree with how the Democrats characterized the war, but I agree with them that it requires diplomacy and careful use of force. Bush's approach to the GWOT has created more terrorists than it has killed and it has inflamed the Islamic world against America. Right now there are no easy answers for Iraq. Despite the improved political situation in Baghdad, the Iraqi politicians have proven that they are uninterested in reconciling politically. That is not going to change even if we were there for 5 more years. Withdrawing now saves us lives and money that would be lost in the inevitable full-scale civil war that awaits Iraq.
"Every single GOP candidate has stated that the post war strategy was flawed and that they would re-address the tactics currently employed."
"Re-address the tactics?" That doesn't sound like a significant departure at all.
"except for the possibility of having the choice to put some of your social security money into stock, the Bush plan was exactly the same as the Clinton plan."
Kahn, that distinction was the source of opposition by Democrats.
Gar Wood
"It's the integrity, the guts to do the right thing and not switch horses every few days. And the fact he makes decisions based on what is right, not what the polls say at the moment. That is his demeanor."
He also cries alot. And if there is a leak in his administration, he wants to know about it.
but I agree with them that it requires diplomacy and careful use of force. - gar
And who exactly advocates this? Hillarys plan changes day to day depending on the polls, Obama has advocated withdrawing from Iraq, talking with Iran and invading Pakstan. And Edwards called it a bumper sticker after getting his haircut.
Bush's approach to the GWOT has created more terrorists than it has killed and it has inflamed the Islamic world against America. - Gar
First of all, please provide an accurate account of the number terrorists prior to the war coupled with a accurate count (please provide sources) of the number of terrorists now, to back up your assertion. Secondly, I didn't realize that the Islamic world was in love with America prior to the war. So was 9/11 a little love slap?
Withdrawing now saves us lives and money that would be lost in the inevitable full-scale civil war that awaits Iraq. - Gar
No, withdrawing now only saves face for the Democratic leadership and will assuredly lead to slaughter of amny innocent Iraqis so that your leadership can gain political clout.
And that's what the left calls building alliances.
But Gar, it was optional. And negotiable. Optional for people plans and the whole thing was negotiable.
That was not the source of opposition. Not wanting Bush to have a "win" was the source.
Imagine that for a second with an open mind. The poi9nt you say was the problem was an option and it didn't even really need to be in the plan. Your party killed Social Security reform. Why? If not to deny Bush a victory, then why? This is the party we are supposed to trust?
”No, withdrawing now only saves face for the Democratic leadership and will assuredly lead to slaughter of many innocent Iraqis so that your leadership can gain political clout.
And that's what the left calls building alliances.”
neocon,
What’s sad is most Conservatives and Republicans understand this and most Democrat politicians actually understand this. But they play their game and the lemmings follow. Rather amazing to watch them all jump off the cliff.
"Zoot, you exemplify the very hatred Mark is condemning. Are you guys still bitter about Sherman, too?"
Awww, I knew at least one of the idiots would bite.
No real hate here just an old hippies realization that liberal stupidity has a price I'm no longer willing to pay. Pull your head out and grow up. The worlds not fair, nice, equitable or just. I feel no guilt about wanting to be on the winning side.
No its not hate just fed up with the juvenile, naive, insipid, uneducated, historically ignorant simplistic world that libs live in and the ensuing cost so you can feeeeel good.

Yeah, there is a lot of hate that can build up against the people who will destroy the world because of their ignorance, arrogance, blindness, stubborness, lack of knowledge, lack of wisdom, lack of humanity, and desire to control other people based on fear and paranoia. On top of it all they can not learn, and project themselves onto liberals as a way to argue. Yeah, it's pretty frustrating, and that can bring up a lot of hate.
What are the important issues to me, a liberal? Abortion, lack of gay rights, the drug war, freedom of religion...I could go on and on I suppose. All problems stem from conservatism. Why? See above.
Civil war? Now there's a laughable idea. Why don't start small and get a full majority of folks to just go to the polls and vote when it's time to do so.
Most of America between the extreme left and right is happily thinking about more important stuff than the outrageous affronts of politicians and pundits. Stuff like who's going to win American Idol and which new car they are going to buy. Go to a neighborhood barbecue and ask some normal people (not political junkies like us) what they think of the civil war that's brewing. Prepare for confused stares.
A better idea would be to get political junkies and pundits themselves together to do battle, since they like talking about this civil war so much - perhaps UFC style in a big cage. We could have Hannity vs. Oberman, O'Reilly vs. Maher, or Rush vs. Michael Moore - the "Battle of the Fat Blowhards". How about it Mark? Care to challenge KOS to a duel in the Octagon?
"You go ahead and run against W, we'll run against your actual candidates, and we'll see who wins."
Well the only way that strategy works is if the entire Republican party backs every initiative that the republican president takes... Oh wait. Never mind.
"This sort of hatred is the stuff with which civil wars are made - and my advice to you Democrats is to stop it. Really. Before you go too far."
Isn't it funny how it's you republicans who threaten it? You really want a civil war? Because that's what I got from your post. If you do then why don't you just say it? Are you really that scared? I'm not. It isn't hard to read into that post.
Anyhoo, either be a man, or not. I'll be waiting. Not that I expect anything, but it'll be fun watching you make an idiot out of yourself.
"This level of hatred is very dangerous for our nation"
No... this level of authoritarian cultism is what is dangerous to our nation. What's dangerous to our nation, is authoritarians who, like you, pretend they actually believe in democracy.
"and an unwillingness to make an attempt to see things from a different point of view."
"He takes on not only the traditional vice presidential assignment of slicing up the opposition but also the Cassandra role of warning about dire threats to the nation's security. While others get distracted by Capitol Hill scandal, Cheney remains focused on the terrorists, who are, as he says in his stump speech, "still lethal, still desperately trying to hit us again." Bush, he says, is "protecting America" while the Democrats advocate "reckless" policies that add up to a "strategy of resignation and defeatism in the face of determined enemies"
Wow. That seems like someone who respects a different point of view doesn't it?
"On a more serious note, this shows the depth of hatred Democrats have for a moderately conservative Republican like President Bush."
Moderately conservative? He isn't even remotely conservative.
"So extremist have they become that they have developed a white-hot hatred for a man who will meet them more than half way on education,"
An educucation plan that has been a complete failure, and don't think I don't blame democrats. I can't believe that Kennedy actually supported that plan. Terrible.
"social security reform"
You're kidding right?
"and immigration."
Oooh... Remind me... who shot down that bill Marky. Democrats supported that bill. Republicans didn't.
neocon, terrorism is up throughout the world.
"The State Department announced last week that it was breaking with tradition in withholding the statistics on terrorist attacks from its congressionally mandated annual report."
The link provides more details about numbers.

Yet ANOTHER handle for you Keefer .....no wait I mean Ted Nugent 08' or is it 1H8LIBS or maybe 1H8LIBS--AGAIN or who else we wonder ? You've already caught before posting as one person and then responding to that post as another person. You're just embassing yourself at this point.
What do you need with all these aliases? On the run from the cops?
You know you're making me believe that all the Bush supporters on this site are just 3 lonely out of work guys with alot of time on their hands and about 6 Type Key names a piece.
If the GOP has any plans of winning in 2008 they had better run against President Bush as well.
You've already caught before posting as one person and then responding to that post as another person.
Zeroballs, you left out "been." Learn to write. And I did this one time--big deal. And if you were around when I did it, you must've changed your "handle," too. So, who did you use to be, someone who got banned?
What do you need with all these aliases? On the run from the cops?
No, on the run from your sister. lol, actually, I'm influenced by events--you can thank UpChuckie Scemer for my latest change.
You know you're making me believe that all the Bush supporters on this site are just 3 lonely out of work guys with alot of time on their hands and about 6 Type Key names a piece.
It's "out-of-work," "TypeKey," and "apiece," moron. You're making me believe that all BDS troll pukes who pollute this blog are deranged morons who never learned proper grammar and word usage, or had any formal education. In other words, Zeroballs/brains/credibility, you're a bunch of phonies. That's why I don't waste my time, nor my modest intellect, trying to reason with you critters.
So, are you gonna fess up and tell us who you used to be, or are you the true coward you show yourself to be? Puss...
Sorry Keefie but as Popeye says, " I yams what I yams" so no I don't need to keep changing my name.
Yessssssss Keefie, we are all aware that "yams" isn't the proper spelling for the word "am". No need to assist the world with proper grammar there.
"And I did this one time--big deal. And if you were around when I did it, you must've changed your "handle," too. So, who did you use to be, someone who got banned?" Keefer
Big deal? Oh you've been caught once, but we both know you've pulled that little trick more than once on here. ;-)
Oh you've been caught once, but we both know you've pulled that little trick more than once on here.
Uh, if you say so, Zeroballs--if you say so. However, I was "caught" doing nothing; I wasn't trying to fool anyone, except for that one time. All the posters here who know me know that I change my handle often, and they can identify me by my comments. But if you want to be the smart guy and think you're revealing some deep, dark, secret, so be it. You're no threat to me, so have your fun.
We both know that you've changed your handle. Maybe you were on Scrutator, before you "graced" us with your insignificant presence?
Have a nice day, Zerosignificance...
Hey keefer, you brilliant editor of grammatical mistakes and all around super genius guy?
Remember scrutator? I do.
You're a mark, keefy. Someone ripe for a con. A rube. A mouthbreather.
Noonan, on the other hand, is plain insane. You sound like an abusive husband, Mark. "I don't want to hit you, but you're forcing me to. It's for your own good."
Get professional help, Mark. Seriously.
"USA" so, thats why you're willing to sacrifice the social security system and thousands of middle eastern men women and children? Because conservatives are bad?
Oh, and on the "gay rights" thing. Lets see, we just watched you tribe attack ANOTHER gay Republican. Less than 1/2 of 1 % of the country is in the military - so it can't be that. And they can live together and have civil unions. But that little bit more is why you hate conservatives? And guess what, many conservatives (like me) don't care about gays one way or the other.
So that was you big ideas list? What a pip.
"First of all, please provide an accurate account of the number terrorists prior to the war coupled with a accurate count (please provide sources) of the number of terrorists now, to back up your assertion" - neocon
Well according to the department that George Bush himself created to count these things, The National Counter Terrorism Center, the number of attacks have risen about 9,000%(no, that's not a typo) since the invasion of Iraq, this was after a relatively constant rate for about 30 years. The data fits an exponential model pretty well(that's really bad for us).
It doesn't take an expert in statistics to see there's some correlation.

Oh, I thought destroy the world was a pretty big deal. Kind of selectively left that out of your arguement didn't you?...Yes you did. I should expect such juvenile behavoir as to ask a question, not to debate, but to practice your ability to marginialize someone and inflate yourself falsely because of your blantant inferiority and insecurity at the cost of your intellegence.
You think you conservatives just watched the left go after another gay republican? Was the cop that caught him from the far left? What are you talking about?...because real life caught up to him, not the left. The left didn't make him resign and then have second thoughts, that what himself!
And what are you talking about me sacrificing the social security system and thousands of middle eastern men women and children? I don't want that! That's you! That is Conservativism that wants to do that, ha ha ha! Your PROJECTING! Go look it up and find out what that means! It might just break your subconsious.
All these lefty posters keep hammering and hammering at conservativism, destroying arguements everytime, and you conservatives never learn. If conservatives can't even rationalize then there is no hope for their ideas being correct.
The closest the world has come to actually being destroyed was under JFK.
But what do you expect me to say to an outrageous statement like we're trying to destroy the world? It's really just too stupid. If you actually believe that. I mean if you REALLY believe that - you should stage a coup and take over. I mean evil Republicans want to destroy the World? Where ya think their from? Mars?
Remember scrutator? I do.
You're a mark, keefy. Someone ripe for a con. A rube. A mouthbreather.
Yeah brad, you and your boyfriends got me real good on that Scrutator sham. Well done. I'm over it, chump; what're you up to lately? Some of your friends are here, spoofin' again, but they make valid points, so they're useful idiots.
Good heavens, can't you intellectual-elite liberals even write coherently anymore? Reading your posts is like reading third-grade schoolwork. Learn to write, or begone!
Mark,
You are the one who "needs to stop it -- really -- stop it you're killin' me.
This isn't the first time you've posted veiled threats that you are near the edge (of what, I'm not sure -- sanity?).
The images of "civil war" that come to mind are just side splitting.
I can't shake the thought of the Keefer Corps advancing up Pennsylvania Avenue in preparation (H) for an assault on Capital Hill.
Hundreds of OD-green Rascal personal mobility scooters, their pilots clad in unbuttoned fatigue jackets and golf pants (over their Depends, of course). Each brandishing a mini-14 with an after-market plastic stock, two twenty-round clips and enough surplus 5.56 to last 2 1/2 minutes in sustained combat.
The awesome spectacle would have the Capitol Police terrified -- as they cower behind DHS blast walls their bravest leader would advise them not to fire until they see the glare of enemy's bifocals.
At the fore of the operation would be the man himself -- attired like his troops, but for the Marcus Garvey-style head gear and his Walkman tuned into the south Florida headquarters of El Rusho who passes out operations orders while reclining in a powder blue Goering-style tunic smoking a cigar while popping alternately Oxycontin and Viagra -- served to him by a cadre of teenage Dominican hookers.
Sorry, man I just can't shake the image.
Sal - meth and blog posts, bad mix.
Kahn,
Ignorance and blog posts -- bad combination.
