Oh come now. This man Gonzales has become an albatross around the neck of the president and this was a decision that needed to meade so your nation can go forward. At least his failure as AG has given many observers a true look into what a man of honor John Ashcroft actually is.
Democrats may be patting themselves on the back right now, but this just another example of Democrats repeating a lie over and over and over enough that the lie was accepted as conventional wisdom..
Quite the contrary, we don't revel in seeing the corruption and incompetence that our permeates our government. We do, however, see the responsibility to take action to correct the situation, however distasteful.
Aztec has a point. Would that this had happened a long time ago before the AG did so much damage to the credibility of the Justice Department and the Administration.
I guess all US Attorneys should have been let go. Liberal hypocrites.
In a week's time, will Gonzalez recall that he resigned? Lol!
You guys are just plain delusional.
This guy was simply inept. He can't tell you what he was doing, or when, or who knew, or what they knew... etc etc...
Additionally, the Attorney General works for the United States of America and it's citizens NOT the President... This is NOT "supposed" to be a political appointment.
If this guy was a Democrat I'd have asked for his resignation. He was absolutely clueless in this position.
I actually grew up a Republiclone. Never supported the Democratic Party... And, feel the Independents are generally a little whacky...
Then a thought occurred to me... Maybe ALL of these guys are out for themselves for self-serving interests and playing all of us for a bunch of idiots by dividing us up and forcing us to defend the indefensible... wow, you think?
These guys are ALL about (2) things "Money & Power" and if you have neither they could give a rat's ass about anything but your vote. If you think otherwise, then you're delusional.
Also, it is NOT supporting the other party if you are disgusted with members of your Party. Geez, just use a little moral sensibility.
This Country is in ruins because BOTH sides have figured out how to get us to point fingers at each other instead of at them.
And, most of you are letting them get away with it. I am so d i s g u s t e d .
Doesn't this say it all about neorads?
"This Country is in ruins"
You d i s g u s t me!
So is the National Review part of this vast "Democratic Smear Machine"?
I mean these folks called for his resignation at various times and now some of them laud the decision.
-LiberalMind
Talk about hypocrisy...
"He demonstrated that his loyalties lie with the president and his political agenda, not the American people or the evenhanded and impartial enforcement of our laws. ... My hope is that the president will select a new attorney general who will respect the rule of law and abandon partisanship, who will serve the American people and not the presidents political ideology, and who will answer to the Constitution and not political operatives." — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.
Note to Hillary - we all remember your husband's administration and how he POLITICIZE every single thing to your benefit, like the 700 FBI files that just happened to be with you, or EVERYTHING else.
This is why the American people do not like you, you can not conveniently eliminate the truth ~ because EVERYONE remembers and we will NEVER FORGET the disgraceful 90's!
Democrats and Republicans (the type that aren't exactly party-line towers) agreeing on something consists of "poisonous partisanship"? Since when? I thought that partisanship was one side working regardless of the other, not with the other...
and just what "lie" (pray tell) is that, exactly, that they keep "repeating over and over" mr. editor?
back up your baseless assertion. fredo lied at least six times as evidenced here:
“The disagreement that occurred, and the reason for the visit to the hospital, Senator, was about other intelligence activities. It was not about the terrorist surveillance program that the president announced to the American people.”
-- 7/24/07 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee
2) “The consensus in the room from the congressional leadership [the gang of eight] was that we should continue the activities, at least for now, despite the objections of Mr. Comey. There was also consensus that it would be very, very difficult to obtain legislation without compromising this program, but that we should look for a way ahead. It is for this reason that within a matter of hours Andy Card and I went to the hospital."
"I just wanted to put in context for this committee and the American people why Mr. Card and I went. It's because we had an emergency meeting in the White House Situation Room, where the congressional leadership had told us, "Continue going forward with this very important intelligence activity.”
-- 7/24/07 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee
3) "I was not involved in seeing any memos, was not involved in any discussions about what was going on."
-- A March 13th press conference on the U.S. attorney firings.
4) "I haven't done -- I haven't talked to witnesses because of the fact that I haven't wanted to interfere with this investigation and department investigations."”
-- 4/19/07 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee
“….as I've indicated, I have not gone back and spoken directly with Mr. Sampson and others who are involved in this process, in order to protect the integrity of this investigation and the investigation of the Office of Professional Responsibility and the Office of Inspector General.”
-- 5/11/07 testimony before the House Judiciary Committee
5) “The track record established over the past three years has demonstrated the effectiveness of the safeguards of civil liberties put in place when the act was passed. There has not been one verified case of civil liberties abuse.”
-- 4/27/05 testimony before the House intelligence committee
6) “…[L]et me publicly sort of preempt, perhaps, a question you're going to ask me, and that is, I am fully committed, as the administration's fully committed, to ensure that, with respect to every United States attorney position in this country, we will have a presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed United States attorney.”
-- 1/18/07 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee
you've got it completely backward, chief. but not surprising given the knee-jerk tendency around here to presume that no republican member of the house, senate, or administrative staff could possibly, POSSIBLY be guilty of any wrongdoing.
thanks to TPM for the assembly of these lies (source: http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/003920.php)
Democrats wish to destroy the Bush administration. The Attorney General is the third casualty -- after Libby and Rove.
Furthermore, Democrats wish to destroy successful conservative minority public servants, as they do not fit the liberal concept of minority citizens. This is the second reason why the Democrats went after the Attorney General.
This is a sad, sad day.
I think McConnell is wrong. We have become accustomed to partisanship since way back in 1992. Both sides are guilty no doubt, but now Mitch is in minority and that sucks for him.
i think gonzales was a rino and i am not sorry to see him go, but i would still like to see Bush fire all the rest of the u.s. attorneys hired by clinton.
it would be fun to watch the dummyrats have a hissy fit.
Who is this "Sophorist" "Editor" who's posted this piece? And Kimberly, what the hell is a "Neorad"? Are you trying to socialize some idiotic new slang you've invented?
It is not a smear conspiracy, but just doing what the people have asked for. It's long overdue. Wouldn't it have saved the American people tons of money if these people would just step down when they are caught with their pants down. It doesn't matter if they are elephants or donkeys.
This administration is just stubborn and it needs to wake up to the will of the people. It just took to long.
Oh come now. This man Gonzales has become an albatross around the neck of the president and this was a decision that needed to meade so your nation can go forward.
Oh, come now--anyone in the Executive Branch, in your underworld, is an "albatross."
This Country is in ruins...
And you call others delusional, Walkook? btw, the AG is a member of the Executive Branch, appointed by the President. Not elected by the people, dimwit.
Quite the contrary, we don't revel in seeing the corruption and incompetence that our permeates our government.
Au contraire, Ass-tick--you idolize both corrupt and incompetent members of your own party, and you fabricate corruption/incompetence in your opponents. Examples: William Jefferson, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Pat Leahey, Chris Dodd, Dick Durbin, Hill Clinton, Carl Levin, John Kerry, etc.
Hey, it was now or never for the AG--all of Bush's appointees were advised that if they stayed on past the recess, that they were in until the end of the administration. Of course, Schumer and others will be racing to the cameras to tell the "American people" how he and his friends were instrumental in making this happen.
And nothing could be further from the truth, although Gonzo did little to help his cause.
This is hardball politics, and unfortunately, my side lacks the juevos to play...
i think gonzales was a rino and i am not sorry to see him go, but i would still like to see Bush fire all the rest of the u.s. attorneys hired by clinton.
it would be fun to watch the dummyrats have a hissy fit.

wow! shunha, do your homework before posting publicly. presidents do not "hire" attorneys. they are voted on and confirmed by the senate. furthermore, the attorneys in question were appointees of bush, not clinton.
Au contraire, Ass-tick--you idolize both corrupt and incompetent members of your own party, and you fabricate corruption/incompetence in your opponents.
Well then we did a really good job of fabricating the AG scandal, it seemed almost real. Especially here in San Diego where Carol Lam got fired for prosecuting Cunningham. That was just dirty pool.
I think Bulldog Patrick Fitzgerald should replace Fredo. What say you b4bers?
Democrats must be so proud. Their justifications pretty much add up to "if you don't want the sharks to attack you don't bleed in the water."
We must surely be heading to a civil war some day.
If you read the transcripts of Alberto Gonzales' testimony to congress over the last year, you probably come to one of two conclusions. Either Gonzales is a liar, or he is incompetent to be Attorney General. By his testimony, he doesn't know what is happening inside the department he is suppose to be head of. His resignation was called for by members of both parties. That doesn't mean he's a bad person, only that he isn't suited to be AG.
Okay, since he's going, the next question is who will replace him?
Kahn: Their justifications pretty much add up to "if you don't want the sharks to attack you don't bleed in the water." We must surely be heading to a civil war some day.
Here's a prescription for avoiding "civil war": you can't just avoid proof that you did anything wrong if, in the process, you can't convince enough people that you did enough right. Let's be serious here: had Gonzalez testified in his first appearance that the USA's in question were fired because they weren't adequately pursuing the priorities of the White House -- nothing personal, they just weren't. And if he could have backed that up in a substantial way, it is unlikely this thing would have gone anywhere. But he didn't do that. Instead, he took every opportunity to violate Spook's First Rule of Holes.
Yep - a few drops of blood. Describing poorly a legal action. Point?
I will admit he brought the U.S in line with Iraq with warrant less wiretapping, torture, and dismantling of habeas corpus. And had he not been stopped he would have completed the establishment of a neocon guard loyal only to the President within the Justice Department.
I think Senator Pat Leahy just said ***k “right back at” you Dick Cheney. Rove, Gonzo, you are next.
Kahn: Yep - a few drops of blood. Describing poorly a legal action. Point?
"I don't remember". Does that help, or should I repeat it like, 83 or so times? A few drops of blood? Come on.
Uhm smear campaign?
1) No politician or appointee would EVER, EVER resign unless there was actually something to the accusations, OR something bigger was coming down the pike.
2) Saying it was a political smear, and then acting as if disgusted is just plain irony coming from the Party who invented the term "swift boating"
Yes, Kerry has been in D.C. too long and has forgotten who he was...
But this is the Party that has constantly smeared veterans for their service while they themselves have either gotten out of Nam (Cheney)or spent their service flying around the skies of TX (best case scenario).
I mean... pull your heads out of the sand people! ALL of these people are crooks and liars.
3) Are you going to tell me with all your political drive... All your core beliefs that if you were in the same position, and had done nothing wrong you would have stepped down?
Please, any one of us as driven as we are about politics would have stood up against an army of democrats if they had absolutely nothing on us.
To say otherwise is delusional.
Wake up and smell the corruption.
Rico, how about 267 times?

I think Andrew C. McCarthy would make an excellent AG!
Furthermore, Democrats wish to destroy successful conservative minority public servants, as they do not fit the liberal concept of minority citizens.
Sad but true, John. But they'll never admit it. They tried to do the same to Clarence Thomas, but it backfired.
If you're a minority, and not on the liberal plantation, then you're not really a minority. Unless you do a Colin.
Especially here in San Diego where Carol Lam got fired for prosecuting Cunningham. That was just dirty pool.
Gee, Ass-tick, I've never seen any proof of that. Besides, had Cunningham not been prosecuted, Lam would've deserved dismissal. So stop fabricating nonsense. I realize you support a party that is adept at fabricating, and getting away with it, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Well, I guess if you can't succeed by being who you are, you have to make shit up.
Wouldn't it have saved the American people tons of money if these people would just step down when they are caught with their pants down.
Who taught you to write, rockville? Wouldn't, would, are? In the same sentence? Let me school you, boy--here's how your b/s should've read: "Wouldn't it have saved the American people tons of money if these people had stepped down once they were caught with their pants down?"
Actually, rockville, I could've even done better, but at least now it's in the proper tense. But guess what? It's still bullsh*t. Nobody was caught "with their pants down;" Gonzo handled the matter poorly. Had he gone in front of the hearing and stated that the USA's serve at the pleasure of the President, and that the President could fire them at will, there wouldn't have been any problem. As Arlen Specter said today, there's no evidence of any wrongdoing. And none will be discovered. This will all go away, but your heroes have once again accomplished their goals. They've dragged a good man through the mud, all for political gain.
And people wonder why I despise the left...
"unfair treatment"
"created a harmful distraction"
"a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales"
"his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons"
Did Bush really say this!?! Comedy! Looks like both Mark and Bush think the exact same way. And both are equally very distant from the reality of the situation.
jbiccum: I guess ol' Gonzo should have just not remembered. Then he would be on par with the Greatest President ever!
Is that truly what you think of Clinton -- the Greatest President ever? Is so, Gonzo measures up pretty well, huh? Maybe we should make premature Alzheimer's a prerequisite for higher office. What do you think of that idea?
Then again, maybe it should be considered a reason to throw the bum out. I'm going with the latter. How about you?

Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
Any questions?
buh-bye. Everyone leaves the president in the end. The downfall is cascading
Yes Rico, we admit it. Nobody destroys Americans like "liberals" destroy Americans. You guys do it the best.
Need someone destroyed with innuendo? Need to attack their families? Maybe point out on national TV that one is gay? Or maybe you need to attack someones religion, you know in case their Catholic or Mormon? Better get a "liberal" in to do it for you. They will of course overlook the claimed religion of Democrats as unimportant.
Maybe you want to trump up some charges against a political opponent or vocal public figure? may I suggest the "liberal" government in West Palm Beach? They are excellent at it. Need to burn women and children alive? Better talk to a liberal Democrat. They are the best. (Need references? See: Waco & Ruby Ridge)
Yep - you guys rule. Nobody destroys American lives like you guys do.
buh-bye. Everyone leaves the president in the end. The downfall is cascading
Time for more Politics 101...oh, never mind; you're--not your--a lost cause. I'll bet your mommy's proud of how you turned out.
Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
Any questions?
Just one, Blow Revolution: Why are you calling every major intelligence agency in the world liars? Because you're a stupid loser?
I thought so...
Oh and "Blue" - yes hatred makes it all OK.
Kahn,
If Gonzales were a democrat would you want him as AG? I wouldn't. We need someone in that position that knows what he or she is doing. Gonzales may be a good person, but he isn't a good AG.
Well yah, obviously. Once he did that perfectly legal thing followed by another perfectly legal thing and then described them so poorly. Well obviously.
And with the relentless attacks he couldn't function and no-one wanted to talk him because they might be called to testify under oath and charged with a felony if they knew the value of Pi to 7 numbers in college but only to 5 numbers now. No - obviously you are right. He had to go.
I mean once in the sights of a subpoena wielding school of sharks - you're a liability to everyone you know. Thats why you should be perfect and never ever bleed in the water.
And hate makes it right. Because Republicans deserve whatever they get because they are evil.
Got it Casper. Thanks.
Casper,
Kahn's right--Gonzales did nothing wrong, other than completely screwing up his unwarranted explanation in front of the hit squad. As for his competency as AG, you may have a slight point. However, an AG is just like any other CEO; they delegate the heavy lifting to those more capable of doing the real work.
So who're they gonna go after next? Cheney? Bush? The Pope? God?
Ted Nugent '08!!!,
I'm not as concerned about who they are going after next as I am who replaces Gonzales. We live in dangerous times and we need the best people available in our justice department. Gonzales was becoming a distraction and from what I understand moral at the Justice Department is pretty bad. We need someone who can turn that around.
Kahn,
You are right in that there is a lot of hate involved in this. But it's coming from both sides. As for Republicans being evil, dang I hope you're wrong, because over half my friends are Republicans and I would hate to have to replace them. LOL
Oh yah well - after having the AG and all his aides before the witch burning committee I guess morale would be low. After having the whole Justice Department and everything they do impugned on a daily basis - well of course. Damn Gonzales, bleeding that way.
But good, good. Never look back. Onto the next lynching! What Republican would want this job now? Who the hell is going to walk into a room full of sharks and hope no-one gets a paper cut?
I hope one does. Already feeling a little hungry.
Kahn,
I have disagreed with a lot of your positions, but I have always had a great deal of respect for you. I'm worried about you, You are carrying around a lot of anger right now.
Let's put it in perspective. A politician just resigned. Nobody died. The world didn't end. It's not worth the anger. If it will help, hug your wife, kids, pets, or whatever makes you happy.
Please take care.
But I agree with you Casper. Set the guy on fire and blame him for burning. I get it.
Destroying a mans personal life and political career because you hate his party is OK. Its war against other Americans. I get it. No hard feelings.
Next?
Dude, it is uncool to offer a cup of water to someone you're burning at the stake. Stop it. Revel in your self-righteousness and enjoy the fire. But show no false mercy.
I don't know WHEN my fn GOP party is going to get into "the dog fight". They have been pushed around by a bunch of cheating, lying, morally-corrupt Dems, who attack on personal levels, or any other kind, that "gets the job done-OUSTING THE PRESIDENT'S ADMINISTRATION-ONE BY ONE". If this President cannot stand up to this bullshit by some within his OWN party, he needs to look like a wimp, along with the rest of them, who just
"lay down and die for the vicious Dems". If the
past Clinton Corrupt Machine, has taught us Anything, it is to be good at what you do-OBSTRUCT
LIE, DESTROY YOUR ENEMIES(HILL'S TRUE MANTRA, SINCE HER MENTOR SAUL ALINSKY TAUGHT HER THIS GREAT LESSON) AT ANY COST-OR KILL THEM, LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHEN A SITUATION DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK GOOD POLITICALLY-EX: The inept way of handling the
Terrorism that was looming under the Clinton's reign-treat it as a police matter, to only see it return one day in the future-9/ll. LEARN TO THROW
YOUR OWN PEOPLE WHO WENT TO JAIL FOR YOU:HUBBEL,
ETC, ETC.UNDER THE BUS, AND GET AN AG LIKE RENO, WHO WILL DO YOUR BIDDING-NO MATTER WHAT SHE HAS TO DO, EVEN ATTACK A SMALL CHILD TO RETURN HIM TO CUBA, KILL THOSE WHO MAKE YOUR COUNTRY LOOK OTHER THAN FREE BY KILLING THEM IN WACO. LET YOUR OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENCY HELP YOU IN BEING THE PREDITOR OF WOMEN YOU ARE, EVEN AFTER YOU RAPE OR ATTACK THEM, SEDUCE THEM(EVEN SUBORDINATES) AND THEN TURN AROUND AND WITH THE HELP OF YOUR "LONG SUFFERING WIFE HILLARY-IN NAME AT LEAST-HELP TO SMEAR THOSE WOMEN AND HOLD "THEM" RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SEXUALLY ADDICTED HUSBAND-THE PRESIDENT. YEP, THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, TO INSURE YOURSELVES YOUR ANNOINTED POSITIONS, THAT ARE UPHELD BY THE MSM, AND THE REST OF THE LIBERAL JACKASSES, THAT THINK: IF IT FEELS GOOD-DO IT-AND LOOK THE OTHER WAY, WHEN YOU GET CAUGHT.
MY DISGUST AT THIS VICIOUS PARTY OF DEMON-CRATS GOES BEYOND THIS POST, AS I SEE THEM AS THE WORST OF THE WORST, BUT UNWILLING TO LOOK AT THEMSELVES,
BUT EASILY TURN ON ANYONE ELSE WHOM THEY WISH TO 'REMOVE FROM THEIR POSITIONS AS THEY HATE THIS PRESIDENT BUSH SO VERY, VERY MUCH, AND HAVE FROM THE FIRST DAY HE WAS SWORN INTO OFFICE'. SO MUCH FOR THE PHONEY "BI-Partisanship, that Bush had so wanted...THAT, was laughable. But to be honest, if Bush wanted to continue to "take the high road with these scoundrels, and didn't know HOW to fight them, and beat them at their own games', then sad but true, my party deserves to lose again
and they seem to do it regularly these days. If the AG was one who had balls, he would have gone after so many of the dirty Dems, like Reid on his
"land deals", and Feinstein & her husband on their conflict of interest deal, as she sat on committee....but, they don't.
Since I really don't think Guilianni will make the
President's office, as the Dems will go after him on a personal level, especially the "Clinton-Mud-Machine", and it will have become a lot of wasted
time and energy, with Rudy splitting the future votes of the Republicans, then I would suggest this:
MR. GUILIANNI, PULL OUT OF THIS RACE NOW, OFFER YOURSELF UP TO THE PRESIDENT AS THE A.G., SINCE YOU DID SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB WITH N.Y. AND TURNED IT AROUND. I PERSONALLY FEEL, IT WOULD BE A BETTER POSITION FOR THE 'TOUGH ON CRIME' KIND OF GUY YOU ARE, AS THEY ARE NOT GOING TO EVER LET YOU REACH FOR THE PRESIDENCY.
IF ONLY YOU HAD STAYED IN THAT SENATE RACE WITH HILLARY, WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE THAT PHONEY LEFTIST LYING HER ASS OFF ON A DAILY BASIS, AND PRETENDING TO BE THE ONE AND ONLY ANSWER FOR AMERICA. SHE AND BILL HAD THEIR TIME, AND THEY BLEW IT-THOUGH THEY KEEP TRYING TO "REWRITE HISTORY-BUT FACTS ARE FACTS". THEY ARE "WHY WE ARE IN THE PRESENT SITUATION WITH TERRORISTS WHO WANT TO CONTINUE TO KILL AMERICANS".
If again, my party-the GOP, don't learn to 'punch
back, instead of worrying about looking too mean or too aggressive, then they are doomed for the future, and will once again soon, be beaten like the "PINATAS", that the Dems have been treating them like, as that is what they do BEST.
Kahn, Jo,
I'm with you!
The most important thing is to have eloquent, smooth talking liars who clearly state they can't remember -- "Slick Willies" ALL!
We are already in a "civil war." When will the Right start fighting it?
I continue to believe this will require Independent Conservatives, working with, but outside the Republican Party.
Right now, we need some strong, aggressive, determined, and effective leadership to rally, organize, motivate, and direct the fight! ! !
In the absence of that, we must organize and begin the fight at the "grass roots" level, making use of groups and the talents available! We also need to make better and more effective use of the Conservative blogs -- using them to motivate and direct their readers.
I'm not sure about Guilianni. I don't like his social liberalism, but that would be preferable to a Liberal Socialist Democrat in the office who most certainly would work to force their liberal agenda and social engineering on America.
Whoever is nominated, they must be a much more eloquent, dynamic, and outspoken media savvy speaker than President Bush, and they must work tirelessly and continually to get the message out to the American people over the lying and misleading propaganda from the Left.
If someone like Guilianni is needed to win the Presidency, a group of strong Independent Conservatives could work the controversial issues and, with the aid of Congressional Conservatives, "help" Guilianni, or whomever, follow and stay on the "Right" path!
AAR
I get the impression that some might have thought that I was defending Bill Clinton in my last post. I wasn't. I think he did a considerable amount of damage to the office of the presidency, and by extension, to the nation. Further, I find it unconscionable that the Dems are actually considering running his wife as their candidate. The whole Clinton machine is smarmy.
Be that as it may, "you' have to appreciate the fact that there were a lot of Repubs that were disappointed with Gonzalez. Whether or not he did anything wrong, it is hard to deny that he simply did not perform up to the expectations of a chief executive of an important governmental agency. The first hole dug was the initial explanation provided for why they fired the USAs that that they did -- and the reaction by those USAs. In other words, the first blood drawn is hard to attribute to the Dems. Those USAs were Bush appointees. Following that, Gonzalez's first testimony caused an uproar even among sitting USAs, and he had to engage in a national tour to meet with them to try to smooth their ruffled feathers. Apparently it didn't work so well -- there are now 24 of the 93 USA positions unfilled. In the mean time, 8 high level DoJ officials resigned before Gonzalez did. To suggest that it's all attributable to the Dems strikes me as a little disingenuous. Especially considering how feckless the Dems are in other contexts, I find it hard to believe they are so effective in this one. Certainly the Dems had an effect, but to suggest it was ALL their fault is to imply they have more power than they actually have. That's like saying all of Clinton's problems were a result of a GOP smear machine. I don't buy that either.
Rico:
You will Never see it from the other side, so why
try? First off, it is quite obvious to all, that
your party of Lefties is "constantly smearing and coming up with questionable behavior about their opposition, and THIS, is the way they go into their "Witch Hunt Mentality, and take up valuable time and monies, in which to have YET SOME OTHER QUESTIONABLE INVESTIGATION".
Do you Rico, expect MORE from your party, than to trump up suspicion and innuendo, in which to launch 'yet another investigation'? Did you send THEM to Washington to "work for the people, get to
work for more than a 100days+ on that job, OR, are
they such a bitter, disgusting party, that trumps up investigation after investigation, NOT getting much else accomplished in Washington?
In the Pelosi rants of the first days in office, SHE dared talk about 'transparency'...when is THAT
going to begin, since so many in YOUR party, have yet again, skated around their troubled issues, but manage to throw enough shit against the walls of the GOP Party, and manage to ruin careers, and
personal lives, because they are "self righteous and self-serving, and it's all about THEM, NOT, the people they serve. If YOU Rico are an honest person, I think you will admit, that it is the Radical Lefty Libs, that have "gone out of their way to achieve power for themselves, and in the intrim, they don't give a rat's ass, whom they destroy in doing so.
WE HAVE ALL SEEN THIS TYPE OF RUINATION OF ANOTHER
BY THE EVER EXISTING "CLINTON MUD MACHINE" IN ACTION, AND MANY IN THEIR PARTY, CARRY ON THE SAME SLIMY TRADITION" GOOD LUCK WITH THE HATRED AND DIRTY POLITICOS YOU SEEM TO DEFEND.
Bush inc. headed by Rove and Cheney, have made an art out smearing dems. Now reality has caught up with your PR machine, and the mud you've slung in the past is now being slung back. Take it like a man and stop whining. Just find a another way to make turd smell like fresh blossoms, and you'll no doubt come out on top again.
Gonzales' resignation= YAY!
The corrupt should always be driven out.
But, he only resigned a) to spare the prez further embarassment, b) to avoid further delving into what he did and did not do, and c) to lift the cloud of suspicion so that everybody will believe Petraeus's report.

PS- how was this scandal a lie? It's been proven time and time again in front of Congress by Democrats and Republicans alike. Remember, it was Monica Goodling and James Comey that testified, not Hillary and Dean.
Jo, apparently you don't appreciate the fact that there were a lot of Repubs that were disappointed with Gonzalez. And if you watched the hearings it was obvious why. Unless you assume they implanted something in his head, you can't blame Gonzalez's dismal performances on the Dems. He did that all by himself.
According to you, I must be a Dem because I pointed out the obvious. If being a member of the GOP requires denying the obvious, then you're right -- I should switch parties. Fortunately, I don't consider what you say as definitive.
Ricorun,
I must say, I have to agree with Jo.
The Democrats have used and abused their position in our government, the highest positions in the land that affect each and every citizen, to do the dirty work of the their masters, the Clintons!
There's no undercutting the issue!

Thanks JAT. Good thing you left out any actual facts from your post. Any names and dates and proof. Thanks. Well, they deserve your anger just for being Republican right?
Kahn,
What matter here is perception: not fact. Perception is what wins and loses elections, and allows policy to, or fail to, be implemented. Bush has clearly lost control of how he and his aides are percieved by the public. Simply saying the smear machine did it does not explain how this happened. The question is: Why is it working?
This, I think, would be a very productive line of inquiry.
I hope you find the matter worth discussing.
JAT - yes, Gonzalez did a poor job explaining the perfectly legal things he did. You'd make a good southern sherrif.
Kahn,
What was so poor about Gonzales explanation? What could he have done differently? Why has Bush lost control over how he and his aides are percieved by the public? It didn't used to be this way. What has changed? Dems are as lame as ever. That hasn't changed.
And thanks for the compliment on my abilities asa discerning officer of the law.
