Congratulations, Jenna Bush

Good news for the Bush family:

CRAWFORD, Texas - Is a White House wedding in the works?

Jenna Bush, one of President Bush's twin daughters, is engaged to be married to her longtime boyfriend, Henry Hager, the White House announced Thursday.

Asked if the two were getting married in the Rose Garden, Sally McDonough, press secretary for first lady Laura Bush, replied: "They have not set any details, date or place."

Jenna Bush, 25, and Hager, 29, were engaged in Maine on Wednesday, she said.

The two have been dating for several years, and Hager is often seen at Jenna Bush's side at family Bush functions and formal events, such as a White House dinner in November 2005 in honor of Britain's Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Hager will be returning to school this fall to complete his master's degree in business administration at the University of Virginia. He has an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University.

Hager, who has been a White House aide and worked on Bush's re-election campaign, is the son of John and Maggie Hager of Richmond, Va. His father is chairman of the Republican Party in Virginia, former assistant secretary of the Education Department's office of special education, former lieutenant governor of Virginia and former director of Virginia's Office of Commonwealth Preparedness.

We here at Blogs for Bush want to extend our congratulations to this young couple as they start their life journey together. We ask the blessings of God be on this union and that love and happiness be their portion for all the days of their lives.

Note to liberals: This is your chance to just say something nice.

Liberal T
i guess best of luck. I really could care less who or if she marries--
Have you ever heard of the golden rule. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. How hard would it be to care about someone else regardless of "part affiliation"?
We really do go further in this world when we love others we should.

Neil,

How about treating them the way they actually treat you.

In this case, perhaps she can have a child with diabetes, like mine, and wonder if stem cell research could one day help.

Or, perhaps she could have a child like Dick Cheney, who is gay, and wonder why he or she is treated like such crap from the party of her father.

I personally do and act as you say. Unfortunately, no one "here" believes that axiom.

3more - just how exactly does the GOP treat gays like crap?

Good luck to Jenna.

Congratulations to your Groom and the best to you as you plan your Wedding Day. I know The President and Laura are delighted to have a special event to look forward to with such pride. I do hope you'll consider a Beautiful White House Wedding. Something Special not many have the opportunity to do. Look forward to your plans and May God Bless you and your family. Regards, EM

uh

(1) not letting them serve openly in all areas jobs openly (don't ask don't tell is just stupid)

(2) not giving them full rights by letting gays marry. Marriage in our society is a LEGAL contract - it is one thing if a church doesn't want to do it but it is absurd that the government doesn't allow it.

(3) how many gay men are allowed to adopt?

for starters.

Dick Cheney is gay? That would be news to his wife, Lynne.

perhaps she can have a child with diabetes, like mine, and wonder if stem cell research could one day help.

Perhaps you could wonder why so many who complain about Bush's stem cell research policy fail to acknowledge that it is only EMBRYONIC stem cell research that is denied federal funds, while other types such as adult stem cells actually receive federal funds. And you could wonder why federal funds are necessary for embryonic SCR, or if embryonic SCR might cure conditions such as diabetes, why can't private industry, charitable foundations, etc., provide the funds?

I've been wondering these things myself. Most of all, I wonder why the left talks as if Bush has forbidden all SCR, when the only thing he has done is deny federal funds to embryonic SCR, while NOT forbidding the research itself.

OK, back to topic.

Good luck, Jenna, and you too, Henry.

”(1) not letting them serve openly in all areas jobs openly (don't ask don't tell is just stupid)”

liberalT, you must be really young (and ignorant and full of hate for President Bush) See, the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy came from your beloved Bill Clinton.

She's looking a little "knocked up" lately. What's the over/ under on a child 9 months form now?

Well Paul, maybe when your parents get married (assuming your mother knows who your father is) they’ll up your allowance so you can place a bet.

(1) not letting them serve openly in all areas jobs openly (don't ask don't tell is just stupid)

The military which is just about exactly one percent of the nations population. And news flash - there are gay people there. So, what? Having to be discreet is being treated like crap?

(2) not giving them full rights by letting gays marry. Marriage in our society is a LEGAL contract - it is one thing if a church doesn't want to do it but it is absurd that the government doesn't allow it.

Well ya got me there. Actually, I believe that anybody should be able to marry anybody. Or anything. Polygamy actually has a richer basis in history than homosexual marriage. But I also think you should be free to marry your goat - especially you LT. I say that with the utmost respect for your lifestyle. You can still live with your goat LT.

(3) how many gay men are allowed to adopt? Well - I don't really know. I know that lesbian women can. And I know that some homosexual men have. But I wonder if restrictions are ther to save the children? I mean... THEY are part of the equation aren't they? Maybe people don't want them to grow up homosexual and they won't be welcome in the Marines or be able to marry other homosexuals.

Jeeezzzzz - You made it sound awful. Like they were burned to death or something.

Note to blogger: this was your chance to let a post go by without finding some way to insult liberals somewhere in it. I'd say it was a failure but that would convey a desire on the blogger's part to let a post go by without insulting liberals in the first place.

Yo Pendergast - It was the liberals who posted insulting garbage, not Mark. I don't blame him for making that request, especially considering the filthy, disgusting, evil comments posted on lefty websites (Democratic Blunderground, Indymedia, Huffpo, etc.) in the past. Anyway, congratulation to Jenna and her fiancee'.
