In addition to Princella's earlier post (which included a rather negative reaction of Senator Charles Schumer following the failure to get cloture for the meaningless vote of no confidence of Alberto Gonzales) I'd like to add that Democrats have no right to complain after they spent years in the minority filibustering judicial nominees, effectively preventing the Senate from doing its job. Schumer said, "If senators cast their vote with their conscience, they would speak with near unanimity that there is no confidence in the attorney general." Well, in the case of the many filibusters they made against Bush's judicial nominees, if senators cast their vote with their conscience, they would speak with near unanimity that President Bush's nominees were qualified and should have been confirmed.

I am very disappointed at the dems this no confidence vote was meaningless no matter what the outcome. George isn't going to fire that douchebag Gonzo no matter what. The dems should be doing what the voters in 2006 sent them to congress for, get us out of Iraq, get rid of corrupt officials, (Jefferson!!!!!!), try to fix our ailing healthcare system, get a sensible comprehensive, effective and practical immigration policy into law. They have failed to do these things and for that I am disappoitned.

babyeatingliber, explain exactly what is a "sensible comprehensive, effective and practical immigration law" in your opinion?

I don't even have a clue as to the point you are trying to make. Anyway having Gonzo crawling up to the Hill every three months prior to the 08 election saying I don't recall is not such a bad thing. Makes for good commercials as to what we are trying to change.

I think you know exactly what he was trying to say.

Here's another bed that the Dems are going to find uncomfortable real soon.
When Nancy Pelosi was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, she promised to change things -- to enact serious, and long overdue, ethical reforms -- to stop the growing trend of legislators and their families accepting gifts, trips, and jobs from lobbyists and corporations. Well, some things never change. Several days ago, NewsMax.com disclosed that in February, shortly after his mother became the first woman speaker, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired by InfoUSA for $180,000 a year as its vice president for Strategic Planning. Pelosi also kept his other full-time day job as a mortgage loan officer for Countrywide Loans in California. And, unlike all of the other InfoUSA employees, he did not report to work at the company's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska

Common sense says:
1. If the voters sent the dems to congress to end our involvement in Iraq they didn't send enough dems there to get the job done. Can you say veto-proof and we need 60 votes for cloture? I didn’t think so.
2. If the voters sent the dems to congress to get rid of corruption (talk about the fox guarding the henhouse) then, considering their response to earmarks and Jefferson, obviously the voters have made a big mistake here too.
3. If the politicians would listen to the electorate they would secure the borders and stop companies from hiring illegals. Then change the laws to allow for legal immigration into this country, but too many seem unwilling to listen to the voters who elected them. This problem is too big to handled with a one size fits all solution.
4. Free Healthcare for all (if that's what you talking about) will be worth exactly what the patient pays for it. Nothing!

Nice post Neocon. Except that Nancy Pelosi broke no laws at all in that situation. Nice try though.
What fantasy world do you B4B'ers live in? You act as though Republicans were sent to Earth straight from God and can do no evil.
HELLO! Just as many Republicans have filibustered judicial hearings as Democrats. But you'll never hear that here, no, that might give a reasonable picture of whats going on in the world and thats the last thing B4B wants to do.
You have no right to complain about the mass media being biased when you yourself are so hopelessly biased.

colin,
I never said Nancy broke any laws. I merely point out her contradiction of the platform she ran on and her subsequent actions.
Part of Nancy's ethical reform was to see that family members did not directly profit from the elected position of their relative. Which, in my opinion, is a needed reform. Well?

Thats what you call a "no-show" job. Sopranos watchers know what I'm talking about. Sounds kinda like a payoff or something.

Another gem from Colin. See Colin, people can be as biased as they want to be. Its called a free society. However, our media is supposed to be unbiased and claims as much.
