Retreat and defeat is the DemocRAT mantra--we in the GOP strive for victory!!!

I don't know what the current number of service men & women deployed in Iraq is, but the 2,700 odd signatures seem to be only a small fraction of what it should be if they were all aboard with this. Oh well, it is still early, so perhaps the numbers will get better as the months drag on.

OT--Jeff Sessions for President!!!

Well it looks like my first attempt to post did not take, so at the risk of being repetitive, I shall try again. I dumbed it down so the Bushbots would find it easier to understand the math.
No, CO, 2700 is not many. More have died. The number who signed would represent just about 0.5% of those who served. However for the Bushbots, this paltry number would be considered as overwhelming support for Bush and his cabal of idiots.

canuckguy,
yeah, it's a mandate...

144 members of the Iraqi National Congress voted for the establishment of a timeline for the withdrawl of US troops. 144 is a significant number.
11 Republican lawmakers spent an hour and a half being as blunt as they could be in explaining to Bush that he no longer has any credibility. General Batiste and General Odum are speaking out about the mess in mesopotamia. Bushs' approval ratings are continuing to tank and now they are the lowest of any president since Carter. How much longer will you
continue to support the reincarnation of George Armstrong Custer and relive the Little Big Horn?

I think Canuckguy meant to say ... I'm too dumb to know I wasn't logged into typekey. LOL!
I would bet the numbers on this petition would rise if all of our troops had access to the internet. Most only have a few hours and spend it talking with family.

mdebde, it was a non-binding petition. Looks like they've learned a lot from U.S. politics (i.e., the democrats).
Posted by: jules at May 9, 2007 11:13 PM
I will only ask our friends from Canada, why does the word and request of 2888 Troops from the trenches merit less consideration than that of 3 or 4 ex-generals who sat in an office?
Shouldn't those that are doing the hands on dirty work be given due consideration as well?

What was Batiste's rank at retirement? I think it was LtGen, but I'm not sure. Gen Odom used to be DIRNSA--he's probably disgruntled because the agency he once ran got it so wrong...
Posted by: keefer at May 10, 2007 05:23 AM
Binding or not, they don't want us there. I guess they can debate the issue when they get back from vacation.
What this all boils down to is no matter who speaks out or what is said, in a zealots mind there is always something wrong with them, not with Bush and not his policies. They are, after all infalable and ordained by the devine.
The polls are wrong, the Republican lawmakers who had a come to Jesus meeting a few days ago are liberal stooges and the only real experts in any of this are to be found here on B4B.
Posted by: mdebde at May 10, 2007 08:44 AM
They want us to leave, EVENTUALLY. But not right now. Be honest about it can't you?
Posted by: Kahn at May 10, 2007 08:57 AM
What, no comments on the 11 GOP congressmen who went up to the White House yesterday and gave Bush a paddling? Sounds like they really laid into him. Ouch! That's gotta sting!
Posted by: Cyberactor at May 10, 2007 10:30 AM
I am being honest about Kahn. How about you? Bush says leaving is defeat so there goes the credibility of "eventually". Suppose we can take the 14 military bases we built there with us?
The house of cards has crashed and the joker in the middle is now without support. A pitiful sight indeed.

I stop here from time to time. Currently I think the only ones who post here anymore are Matt and Mark. They just change their names. The talking point material the B4B supporters put out hasn’t changed in months. So what some Generals and Republican Congressman took Bush to the woodshed. True Bushies must protect the man at all cost. Stick to the talking points. We can never leave you cut and runners. Give us $500 billion with no strings attached or you don’t support the troops. We can’t see the good in Iraq because MSM is too lazy to get out of the Green Zone. Iraq is not in a civil war. And the talking point I like best, perfected by the man who more than anyone else helped the Republican party to become the influential 28% they are today, Rush Limbaugh,: if you don’t have an answer blame Bill Clinton.

Lew Waters asks the Canadians "I will only ask our friends from Canada, why does the word and request of 2888 Troops from the trenches merit less consideration than that of 3 or 4 ex-generals who sat in an office?".
We did not say it did, Lew. We only commented on the small percentgage that signed so far.
As for kimberlybush comment that they are too busy fighting or writing back to loved ones, well I say there are more at home from rotation than they are in Iraq. So they have time to sign in droves. The petition has been around for 3 or 4 months, so unless the word is not getting out, it would seem most vets are against the war and will not sign. So I guess I will give the B4B fellows the benefit of the doubt for now on the assumption the petition is not yet well known.
Posted by: Canuckguy at May 10, 2007 03:35 PM
its not just EVENTUALLY - the majority of Iraqi's want a time table for withdrawal on the order of a year for complete pullout. So lets not get carried away with the supposed Iraqi support for the occupation

Canuck, for what it is worth, the count is 2931 since I posted last night.
While it has been up since February, word is slowly getting out.
Also, Active Duty Troops are often hesitant to sign anything that may be interpreted as going against Superiors, including Congress. These guys went through a JAG Officer to verify the legality of their action under the UCMJ, but many others just know what they hear in Basic and such, and that is to keep your head down and don't make waves.
Still, more and more everyday are realizing they have the right to petition Congress and are doing so.

Lew, I don't agree with the excuse you offered: "Active Duty Troops are often hesitant to sign anything that may be interpreted as going against Superiors....,"
Now if they were signing a petition AGAINST the war, now that excuse would be valid.

Why are you neorads so against others having freedom? Shame on you.

They are asking out of desperation. Typical Arab negotiating ploy. Wait until the other party is walking out the door. But the writings on the wailing wall and it is too late for the Iraqi "government" and too late for Bush, regardless of the Saudis. Screw those ungrateful people. If we didn't need their product we wouldn't be there.
BTW, what is a neorad? A new what, radical??
I am sick thinking about future human history cleaning up the mess this administration has created.
