I've always sort of liked Dianne Feinstein in spite of the fact that I seldom agree with her. She's head and shoulders more intelligent than the other Senator from Calfornia. That said, anyone care to take bets as to whether or not she'll suffer the same fate as Duke Cunningham?

I read the cited piece yesterday (I believe it was posted on RealClearPolitics), and I find it very disturbing -- particularly because I have always thought of her as a reasonable and honorable person. For a congresscritter, anyway. Now I have my doubts.
This information is new, and potentially very damaging: Her colleagues on the subcommittee, for example, had no reason even to suspect that she knew what companies might benefit from her decisions because that information is routinely withheld to avoid favoritism. What they didn’t know was that her chief legal adviser, who also happened to be a business partner of her husband’s and the vice chairman of one of the companies involved, was secretly forwarding her lists of projects and appropriation requests that were coming before the committee and in which she and her husband had an interest — information that has only come to light recently as a result of the efforts of several California investigative reporters.
This adviser insists — apparently with a straight face — that he provided the information to Feinstein’s chief of staff so that she could recuse herself in cases where there might be a conflict. He says that he assumes she did so. The public record, however, indicates that she went right ahead and fought for these same projects.
Not good. Not good at all. These are serious allegations, and she needs to be investigated. More about the issue can be found here.

I too have always had a greater respect for Feinstein over her counter-part "The Dog."
I've felt as though she addresses most issues with a fairly level head, except that over the years, I've sensed that she was being partisan soley(I hope I got this right)for the sake of the party and even when you could hear issue dissent in her tone. As far as her "conflict of interests" go, well she'll have some splainin to do. But chances are, it'll be swept under the rug and never get in front of a committee.
Have you also noticed how she has pretty much dropped off radar...she's no dummy.

But if a Congresscritter with a "D" after their name does something equally illegal or unethical, they can be assured that the MSM and their fellow Congresscritters with a "D" will remain silent, and after a while everyone will forget about it.
That's why Edward "The Swimmer" Kennedy is still the senior Senator from MA, even though he committed vehicular homicide.

Duke Cunningham? He is a crook plain and simple and deserves every day he spends in jail. Same with every other Republican crook that has stained our party's fine name.
What is sad is the left is so politically craven and hyprocritical that it cannot bring itself to criticize its own when even the appearance of impropriety arises. If it is a Republican who may have crossed the line? Whoa nelly, batten down the hatches!
Where is the outrage from jerks like Wade regarding William Jefferson's freezer money? How many starving children could have been fed by that money in his freezer? WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?
Answer? There isn't any because Jefferson is a democRAT and getting democRATs elected is more important than any shred of morality a lefty may still possess. Jefferson received a STANDING OVATION from the congressional black caucus when he re-appeared in DC.

While I by no means support Feinstein's actions, I am just wondering how come she should be indicted and tried for this (I think she should, actually) but Bush shouldn't be tried and impeached for the far greater crimes he committed.
It is indeed a sad day when partisan politics are so prevalent that even the president flaunting and disobeying the Constitution (which goes against his oath of office) and lying with the result of 3351+ US deaths (and tens of thousands of Iraqis) does not result in his impeachment and imprisonment.
But still, I am for fair, honest, legal governance, and think that Feinstein should be tried. Conviction is up to the jury. That's the way we do it in America, one of the world's truly great nations.
