The "Culture of Death" in our midst

From CNS:

(CNSNews.com) - Planned Parenthood is under fire after one of its employees was recorded encouraging a student - who was posing as a pregnant minor - to lie about her age in order to obtain an abortion without the abortion provider having to report the "statutory rape" to the police.

Lila Rose, an 18-year-old sophomore at the University of California Los Angeles, visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in the city, posing as a 15-year-old impregnated by her 23-year-old boyfriend. The visit was part of an investigation for The Advocate, a new pro-life magazine distributed on the UCLA campus.

California law requires abortion clinics to report instances of statutory rape to police. The age of consent in California is 16.

In covertly-filmed video of the meeting between Rose and an unnamed Planned Parenthood employee, the staffer is heard to tell Rose: "If you're 15, we have to report it ... If you're not, if you're older than that, then we don't need to."

"Okay, but if I just say I'm not 15, then it's different?" Rose asks.

"You could say 16," the worker replies, later adding, "Just figure out a birth date that works. And I don't know anything."

Just wait til you read the non-apology apology from Planned Parenthood:

Kathy Kneer, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California - the state public policy office of Planned Parenthood - criticized Rose's tactics but told Cybercast News Service that staff has been notified of its policy to follow all reporting laws.

"We believe the individuals behind this are doing this not out of motivation to protect teens but in fact to discredit Planned Parenthood," Kneer said of Rose and her male accomplice. "They went in with an objective to manipulate our staff, (DAMN!!) and they did succeed in manipulating our staff." ("And we would've gotten away with killing another baby if it wasn't for you meddling kids!"-ed)

Question, Ms. Kneer--just who was manipulating whom??

The woman (in the tape) relates that having herself given birth at the age of 17, 16 years ago, the decision had severely hindered her education and life goals. "If I would do it again, I would not continue the pregnancy," she is heard telling Rose.

And yet more of Planned Parenthood's non-apology apology:

While Kneer was critical of Rose's approach, she acknowledged that the staff had violated Planned Parenthood policies.

"It is against Planned Parenthood's policy to counsel clients in this fashion, period, (nod-nod, wink-wink--ed) Kneer said. "It is our policy to completely comply with all reporting laws. We regularly train and retrain our staff on all aspects of not getting caught reporting laws."

"The staff gave an incorrect answer," Kneer said of the employee who suggested that Rose lie about her age. "She should have said, 'It's reportable' and ended the conversation there. But she allowed herself to be manipulated by Lila, and that's against our policy."

Allowed herself to be manipulated??
Again, I ask--who was manipulating who, Ms. Kneer?

Kneer said Planned Parenthood "immediately notified all of our staff and reminded them that this is in violation of our policy (be more careful, dammit!), and we continue to do that on a regular basis."
So Planned Parenthood was willing to look the other way, when for all they knew a 15-year old girl was being taken advantage and systematically raped of by a 23-year old.

They get caught red handed (as abortionists are so often wont to do), so what happens?

Why, they blame the alleged 15-year old "victim," of course.

If this had been a real case, there'd be one more dead baby in the dumpster, and a few hundred more dollars in Planned Parenthood's coffers.

Not to mention another young girl, scarred for life.

What a ghoulish existence they lead!

Now now don't teenagers always "manipulate" adults into doing things their way? I mean it's not like adults should know better. /sarcasim

Honestly every group who goes in with hidden cameras "has an agenda" or a "planned outcome." From hidden shoppers to news agencies trying to get crooked car repair people there is always an action line. It's up to the group being targeted not to fall for it.

The do admit this one person did the wrong thing. Personally if I was doing a "sting" like this I'd have several different young girls go in, to several different Planned Parenthoods and see if I got similar results BEFORE I went public. That way you can say it wasn't "just one or two" if you got several, or "it was only one or two" if most did stop you and report it.

That's just me though.

I bought some beer from a 7-11 when I was 15. Maybe we should condemn 7-11 for supporting teenage alcoholism.

Cheers!

Hey Eric, sure. We don't need no stinkin' rules.

Well, gotta run. Gonna go sell some guns to a few guys over at the County Mental Health Clinic.

Cheers.

So Planned Parenthood was willing to look the other way, when for all they knew a 15-year old girl was being taken advantage and systematically raped of by a 23-year old.

There's nothing in the story that suggests that the ‘15-year old girl’ was being taken advantage of and systematically raped. The report calls your ‘rapist’ a ‘boyfriend’ in one instance and a ‘male accomplice’ in another (suggesting he was present during those conversations). What's not reported here is if the staffer had made inquiries whether the sex had been consensual or not. It may come as a shock to you but many 14 and 15 year old girls are sexually active. Given the abysmal number of teenage pregnancies in the US, Rose probably wasn't the first 15-yo this staffer has met.

It is clear from this report that it was Rose who was leading the staffer on, she came to PP with an agenda. The staffer should have pointed out to Rose that what she wanted to do was illegal. Kathy Kneer from Planned Parenthood responded absolutely correctly.

When you're really this concerned about abortion, push for better sex-education. There's a reason why the US has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates and abortion-rates in the Western World. Abortion rates in the Netherlands is less than 10 per 1.000 women, in the US it's more than 20 per 1.000.

In the state of California it doesn't matter if it's consentual at 15. ANY sex (even if the other guy is 16) at 15 counts as Statutory Rape. I know my buddy still has "rape" on his record from when he was 16 and the chick was 15.

Again I don't think they did enough videos to say ALL of PP has this kind of problem. I'd be curious to see what other PP's would have done BEFORE this occured. (Or try again in 6 months when people aren't paying attention again.)

WVO - statutory rape, look it up.

By the way, ever thought about the reduction in the Earths albedo caused by draining large sections of ocean and building dikes to keep them dry? I wonder how much Holland adds to global warming by its very existense? That is where you live isn't it? I can't remeber.

Oh well, as you proved - it's not necessary to know what you're writing about to post here.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 12:43 AM

You been studying about albedo, Kahn?

Posted by: Eric [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 01:47 AM

Apparently you guys don't know that statutory rape law has a lot of grey area. In California, it's statutory rape only when the adult is 21 years or older and the minor is younger than 16 years. California law also specifically states that "the pregnancy of a minor does not, in and of itself, constitute a reasonable suspicion of child abuse."

In the legal sense, this case was statutory rape, in the practical sense, cases like this are not always investigated and prosecuted because the investigation and prosecution does more harm to the girl in such a case, than good. When the ‘boyfriend’ was indeed present during the interviews with PP and when they had portrayed their relationship as being genuine, I can fully understand why the staffer had reacted the way she did.

Posted by: Willem van Oranje [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 06:31 AM

the person who encouraged her to lie is clearly in violation of the law and should be dealt with in whatever means mandated. As well planned parent hood should insist that all of its employees follow the law or be fired and make sure that they are operating according to the rule of law. That much is clear.
However - the CEO of planned parenthood is absolutely correct to point out that this is clearly another ploy to find some reason to cast doubt or besmirch planned parenthood. The problem here is your unquestioned assumption that it would always be best for a 15 year old to have a baby rather than an abortion. As you point out yourself - she could have been systematically raped and have no desire to have a child at all. Yet you would argue that it would be best for a 15 year old to have a child born out of rape?

ever thought about the reduction in the Earths albedo caused by draining large sections of ocean and building dikes to keep them dry?

When you had studied cloud albedo, you would have known that it increases cloud albedo, not decreases.

We MUST, for the sake of the next generation do all we can to protect the life that was so graciously and without a forethought given to us!

Let's give the same chance, for the little children of tomorrow!

kblack,

Uh, the problem here is not the abortion per se but the failure to report a pregnant 15 year old to the police - and that is something which has been going on all the time at Planned Parenthood...what you on the left have to start realising is that PP is the nation's largest abortion provider: it is a massive money-maker for them and they have a vested interested in as many abortions as possible.

This is called "conflict of interest", and you should familiarise yourself with the concept.

How much more sex education does this country need? My kids have been going through some form of sex education from the 5th grade and on. There are forms of birth control available ad nauseum from the grocery store to the bathrooms at all clubs.

Exactly, what age of we talking about here, who do not comprehend that having sex (male/female) could result in becoming pregnant?

As far as I know, most 10 years old realize this, and certainly anyone above the age of 10 knows it. I'll wager that a 10 year old could get a hold of bc before they could figure out how to get a library card.

I so sick of the left demanding more sex education!!!

What we need is, more responsibility education. Let's quit giving in to those things that feel good and be just a little more responsible.

Abortion has not become a way of getting rid of an unplanned pregnancy but rather a method of birth control for our country.

Mark..
I guess you got this from Bill O'Reilly..

If you had bothered to even check the first most basic fact about planned parenthood you would have realized that it is a NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200510130009

That is - by matter of LAW it does not make a profit. So you are again completely absolutely incorrect - and your research is stunningly poorly done.

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 01:01 PM

Mark,

Can you believe Dr. Rerun? He thinks you don't know PP's non-profit status. Then he refers you to MMFA?

This guy is a whack job. There's no other logical explanation.

Hey, Dr. Rerun, MoveOn is a non-profit, too. Just thought you might like to know...

Posted by: keefer [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 04:20 PM

keefer,

Ah, but he probably thinks that if a company is non-profit its automatically worthy and has no greed in it...unless, of course, the non-profit is a Christian organization, then he's certain that its nefarious...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 05:04 PM

If you actually had bothered to do ANY research on this you would have seen that planned parenthood offers a sliding scale for those who cannot afford to pay.

Do you understand the concept of a non profit organization? Its amazing that you are willing to believe - without any substantial proof - that there is an army of "murders" out there aborting babies left and right to line their pockets. Even though they work for a non-profit organization which takes many cases at a LOSS to them economically..

However, you find it absurd that a huge oil company whose profit margins will go down considerably if they have to make substantial changes to their policies to adapt to global warming or not get cheap oil from the corrupt Saudi's would ever do anything else but be complete saints. DESPITE - the overwhelming evidence that their "think tanks" are paid only to come up with research that disproves global warming - (hint - this is not how you do research - you do the research first then come to the conclusion not force the conclusion first and fit all your data in favor of that in exclusion of all other hypothesis). Or despite the close financial ties between Bush, Cheney et al and Texas oil and Haliburton.
That somehow is for peace democracy and love...

And Finally if planned parenthood wanted to make a profit - they could easily become a corporation and do so - so yes I believe their primary motivation is not greed - or THEY WOULD BECOME A PROFIT SEEKING COMPANY.

its like talking to a rock
