Clinton: Shared Prosperity Should Replace 'On Your Own' Society
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.
The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an ownership society really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.
"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."
That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.
"There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed," she said. "Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

By 2005, it was 262 times as much. In the last six years, productivity has increased, but family incomes have gone down, she said, leading to rising inequality and pessimism in the work force.
"It's not as if America hasn't been successful these last six years, but the measure of success does not relate to what's happening in households across our country," she said. "It's like trickle down economics, without the trickle." (emphases added)

It's been a rough week for John Edwards, and now comes more bad news for his "two Americas" campaign theme. A new study by the Congressional Budget Office says the poor have been getting less poor. On average, CBO found that low-wage households with children had incomes after inflation that were more than one-third higher in 2005 than in 1991.
But then again, Komrade Hillary was

The day Hell freezes over (again?) Lew. Given that the woman actually said what she did, it may have frozen over once already. I just asked several class mates what form of equality they believe in, equality of opportunity, or equality of outcome. One actually said she thinks both should be possible. This is an older adult college student, not some idiot kiddy. Very scarey. Gives me an idea of who she might vote for.

With the Immigration Bill we are being set up to accept a new tax system, and Hillary has let the cat out of the bag. "Hillary care" was only the tip of the iceberg for Her Thighness.
With the legalization of millions of illegals, and the influx of millions more, our social services, including Sosh Security (a tip of the hat to Gephart) and Medicare will be overwhelmed.
The average american will not accept the 70% tax rates that have been bandied about to pay for it all. So the dems will resort to their "share the wealth" redistribution plan and implement a federal tax on assets. This will happen if the dems take the Whitehouse and control congress in 2008. This is a lay down as millions of boomers reach retirement and suddenly realize they haven't saved enough to maintain the lifestyles to which they have become accustomed.
