Pelosi Doesn't Care About What's Really Going On In Iraq

Nancy Pelosi, the highest-ranking Democrat in the country, will be skipping tomorrow's briefing by Gen. David Petraeus...

As the House and Senate prepare to vote this week on the final conference report on the $124 billion troop funding bill — which would also mandate that U.S. combat troops begin withdrawing from Iraq on Oct. 1 at the latest — Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to come to the Hill tomorrow to brief lawmakers on the progress of the recent troop escalation.

ABC News has learned, however, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will not attend the briefing.

This is incredibly irresponsible of Nancy.

Funny how she can make time for Syria's Dictator and send out feelers for Iran's Ahmanutjob, but when it come to the Commander they entrusted to make changes in Iraq, even after denying him most everything he needs, she doesn't have time.

Is this how she plans on "doubling the size of the Special Forces?"

The arrogance of this woman! I read the rest of the story, and she had the nerve to request a one on one with the General. Who does she think she is? Fortunately, that meeting isn't going to happen. Touche!

Posted by: Janith Davies at April 24, 2007 09:15 PM

Those consarned scheduling conflicts; must have been really really really important, considering that we need to extract ourselves from a war already lost.

Then again maybe Pelosi took a tip from Reid and figured that whatever Petreaus had to say, she wouldnt believe him anyway.

What does one expect from Nancy Piglosi--Speaker of the Mosque...

Posted by: keefer [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 24, 2007 10:06 PM

I've often wondered why anyone would deliberately choose to listen to anything the bush administration says. We all know its going to lies, and not even new lies. Just the same old lies, over and over.

And now the good general will declare "progress is being made". "And pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."

Posted by: PM at April 24, 2007 10:17 PM

Who ever said she did? Certainly not her.

The republicans need to turn this war around...

Flat out, they need a new strategy for getting their message out.

She is pitiful-most of her rhetoric is a daily blasting of the President, troops, etal. She is a phoney, who cares less about these troops-To HER
Reid, and the whole bunch of "white flag wavers",
it is only about opposing the President, so they can say he failed. It is obvious these enemy sypathizers(her recent trip to Syria, and possibly
next Iran) want to be able to impeach this President, and his people, so they can "take over the Whitehouse"....Pathetic with so much to say, that she wouldn't attend the meeting with Petraeus-its just the continued "snubbing of the President, that this vicious woman does on a daily basis"...

Reid needs to lose his job, for his "aiding and abetting the enemy-Terrorists", then Pelosi, should be forced to do the same. This is all only about their political careers, as they don't give a rat's behind about the troops, and their behavior confirms this.

And now the good general will declare "progress is being made". "And pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."

Would the "man" be the democrats who approved the Petreus appointment? The appointment to be the general who is running the operation and actually in the field and not manning a desk back in D.C.? That "man"?

But you support the troops, right? That must be what Reid meant when he said he wouldnt believe what Petreus had to say, BEFORE even talking to the general. "We support you but you lost and I dont believe anything you tell me." Nice job, senator.

Typical libs, take credit where none is due and deny involvement when things get tight.

Its almost to much to read anything that has Reid or Pelosi in it. The Al-QuaedaCrats are un-yeilding in hypocrisy and idiocy.

Posted by: America's Last Stand at April 24, 2007 11:50 PM

This kind of behavior by the Democrats is one good reason they should not be in power. The Republicans should bring this stuff up over and over again in 08.

They want to be "in charge" but they don't do what "in charge" responsible people do-like attending briefings and such.

Posted by: Linn at April 25, 2007 12:25 AM

Will you be providing us with posts on your fine blog to let us know which Republicans won't be at this briefing?

Posted by: The Decidenator [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 25, 2007 12:43 AM

The democrats only care about playing to their base.

Funny, Pelosi wants to have open dialog, but only with terrorists and terrorist supporters. How is that leadership? Oh. I forgot. She is no leader. Neither is Reid.

Decide,

Who cares? In the House, only the majority Party really matters...and on matters of this importance, the Speaker should be there...but, she might be busy getting one of her cronies another cushy position, or some such important work.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 25, 2007 02:00 AM

Nancy Pelosi is both irresponsible and a traitor to America. If she's skipping out on Gen. David Petraeus' briefing to go to say...Denmark, she might have to put her hijab back on again:

Danish Imam: "All Women Should Wear a Veil"

Via LGF, "Mostafa Chendid, the new leader of the Danish Islamic Society, says that not just Muslim women but all women should wear repressive, ugly clothing—because if they don’t, five to ten percent of men will lose control and fly into a rape frenzy..."

Mostafa Chendid is considered to be the successor of Ahmad Abu Laban, one of the imams who was involved in the affair around the notorious Danish cartoons.

...Earlier he had already succeeded to draw attention to himself by saying, on International Women’s Day, to Jyllands-Posten (that’s right: the newspaper with the cartoons) that not only Muslim women, but all other women too, should wear a veil. Of course, this resulted in a lot of reactions, and as a matter of fact his remarks in Jyllands-Posten were the direct reason for the interview with Weekendavisen, where he repeated them once more and commented on them. He said for example that wearing the veil is a woman’s duty to God, because that is what the Koran says. However, that doesn’t mean that he thinks that a woman with a veil is a better person than a woman without a veil.

According to him the veil also serves as a signal: women with a veil are «not for sale». Moreover, the veil protects against rapes, he says: in the US for example, every half minute a woman is raped, and according to him that is because women continuously tempt men by going onto the streets without a veil. Maybe not all men have a problem to control themselves when they see a woman without a veil, and perhaps there is only a problem with five to ten per cent of the men, but he says that is nevertheless enough for all women to wear the veil.

While Democrats, leftists, socialists and other assorted whiners bleat and cry about the war in Iraq, Muslims are making serious inroads in creating Islamic societies in Europe. What are these Democrats, leftists, socialists and other assorted whiners doing to combat this threat?!? Answer: Nothing!

Europeans and other Westerners should be less obsessed with the war in Iraq and more focused on the systematic institution of Islamic laws and culture on Europe and other Western nations.

I'm as anti-Pelosi as the next guy, however the article in question does go on to say that she had a 30-minute conversation with the General Petraeus yesterday because she would be missing this meeting.

Posted by: Zeeter at April 25, 2007 09:24 AM

Zeeter
You have undermined their whole rant by actually reading the article. Not fair!
Which is better: sitting in a room with 400 people for a presentation or a half hour one on one phone call where you can ask specific questions and receive specific answers? Sounds like she got the better deal.
