The Plame Truth

I saw a similar timeline a couple years ago which pretty much laid to rest the whole, phony story of Wilson/Plame - but I do suggest everyone go over it very carefully...though you lefties should take it in small doses, because the full truth all at once might make your head explode. At any rate, this is the crucial part - after carefully detailing everything that happened up until June of 2003:

Why would Richard Armitage have been talking about Wilson and Plame in June of 2003? This was still weeks before Joe Wilson wrote his New York Times editorial, and a month before Robert Novak published his column mentioning Valerie Plame.

Armitage brought this up because he is a gossip and it was already common knowledge because Joe Wilson had been calling all of the newspapers trying to get them to run his story about his mission to Niger.

Given the chronology and Mr. Armitage’s remarks, it seems quite obvious Mr. Wilson outed his wife when he spoke to the Senate Democratic Policy Committee and then to the subsequent reporters at the Times, the Post and elsewhere, when he was hawking his story about his trip to Niger.

Wilson’s motivation for bringing up his wife is likely to have been exactly as Dick Armitage suggested to Bob Woodward. Wilson told first the Democrat panelists and then the reporters about Plame’s work at the CIA to give his radically new and dangerous story more credibility.

Indeed, it’s quite understandable that Mr. Wilson would have felt the need to mention his wife’s position as a WMD analyst at the CIA to buttress his outrageous (and we now know, fallacious) claims against a then wildly popular President in a time of war.

Joe Wilson wanted to hitch his star to John Kerry, who was the clear front runner at that time (this was just before Dean starting making the running) - his means of doing this was to sell the story that he was in the know on a fraud perpetrated by the Bush Administration vis a vis the Iraq/Africa nuclear issue; his means of credentialing himself was to tell everyone and his brother that his wife was a WMD expert at CIA. When the Administration started counter-acting Wilson's lies, Wilson cooked up the additional lie that his wife was outed in a ploy to destroy him for "speaking truth to power". You lefties might not remember this, but back when this all first came up, Kerry's campaign dropped Wilson like a bad habit because his falsehoods were so obvious.

The only thing needed to keep this thing going was the willingness of someone at CIA to refer the matter to Justice, and then just let endless leftwing/MSM repetition do the rest. And now we've got Libby convicted, and Plame lying in front of Congress...

I do wonder if the left will ever get tired of being a force for deception in the world...

The answer to your last sentence is NO. Bush Derangement Syndrome is that severe. Hopefully social security will not include BDS for a payable disability.

Mark,

I wonder what chain of events would force you to concede that Bush and his Administration doesn't shit chocolate pudding?

Deleted - obscenity.

"and Plame lying in front of Congress..."

She was under oath maybe Fiztgerald can prosocute her as well.....

Posted by: joe at March 17, 2007 05:49 PM

Your argument reminds me of Gingrich's statement blaming the people of New Orleans for getting killed during hurricane Katrina.

I can almost see the foam beginning to spill from your mouth.

Posted by: PM at March 17, 2007 06:10 PM

Confused Keefer,

I'd say if you read the bloggers here regularly, then 1-7 are correct.

Everything except the last line. I honestly do not believe Mark is a liar.

Gullible, stubborn, and closed minded (dare I say fascist? No, I dare not.) are the words that come to my mind.

Posted by: raker13 [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 17, 2007 06:12 PM

Mark,

These days I go to your blog first. Before reading any actual news. Why? I find this stuff you print very entertaining. Your articles are funny, in a desperate, pathetic way, and the other commentors, particularly god-is-great, is hilarious.

Keep up the good work.

Posted by: PM at March 17, 2007 06:15 PM

PM,

The reason you come here is because you are called to come here - and one day, perhaps a long time from now, all that you learn here will come together and convince you to change your views.

One day, for instance, it will finally go in that Wilson lied in his Op-Ed and he wrote that Op-Ed AFTER he became a Kerry advisor with a vested interest in seeing President Bush defeated. Follow the money, PM - or, in this case, follow the the lure of political advancement...

Posted by: Mark Noonan at March 17, 2007 06:41 PM

raker,

Some times you almost become likable, and then you go and do something nasty like that...the bitterness and hatred of the left just comes bubbling to the surface, like a nauseating scum on the top of an otherwise beautiful lake...

But I forgive you, and pray for you.

Posted by: Mark Noonan at March 17, 2007 06:43 PM

Like a teeny tiny pebble in good pair of shoes...annoying.

My wife tells me the same thing some times. I have to show her the "scum" line. She will use it on me now. Yeesh.

"Given the chronology and Mr. Armitage’s remarks, it seems quite obvious Mr. Wilson outed his wife when he spoke to the Senate Democratic Policy Committee"

Actually no. Given the chronology, there exists the theoretical possiblility that he did so. And nothing more. No evidence whatsoever.

Now, maybe if you can establish a link from the SDPC to Richard Armitage, you might have something intriguing.

But for now, you simply have people trying to loudly proclaim that they have evidence of something simply because they have a timeline that doesnt rule out the possibility. And that is, rather transparently, an example of trying to make a case out of nothing.

A state that criminalizes political adversaries and then cloaks the illegal conduct of its retainers is by definition a tyranny.
When one is making out the weekly budget, two and two invariably produce four. Politics, however, is sort of a sub-atomic or non-Euclidean world where it is quite possible for the part to be greater than the whole or for two objects to be in the same place at the same time. Hence the contradictions and absurdities that are posted here on a daily basis. This denial of factuality and the chronology of events can be traced back to a secret belief that ones politics, unlike the weekly budget, will never have to be tested against solid reality.
A psychological evaluation of die hard Bush supporters; in spite of their being repeatedly contradicted by events here on planet earth will show a cult mentality in which their is no logic and no reason. There is only belief in and support of their authoritairian leader.

But Mark, who will forgive you for being so superciliously condescending with your religion? it's easy to try to change the subject when you know you're dead wrong on the Plame issue. Plame was a covert officer. You lose, but so do the rest of us when BushCo pull stunts like this.

Posted by: Tyler at March 17, 2007 06:56 PM

The right-wingers at this site only believe what they chose to believe, so don't bother them with the facts.
I'm surprised they don't deny that Nixon did anything wrong.
If a prosecutor finds one of them guilty of a crime they resort to claiming he was a liberal or against their party.
Mark Noonam strikes me as a very articulate and intelligent man, then he baffles me with his conspiracy theories and made up facts.
Facts here are twisted and reversed so its hard to get any truth from this site.
I dont care what party your from, if you dont have truth you dont have anything. For the past 6 years I have felt like I have gotten very little from this administration except denials and outright lies. It bothers me that people aren't interested in the truth.

Posted by: Lomstradamus [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 17, 2007 06:59 PM

tomjeffairplane, I'm curious as to which Bush political adversaries have been criminalized. I can't think of a single example, but maybe my memory isn't so good.

As for the whole Plame affair, I'm disappointed that Joe Wilson wasn't put under oath and subpoenaed to testify. It would have been nice to lock down exactly when he started telling people that his wife worked at the CIA in order to bolster his story. Then again, I'm not shocked that the "Truthteller of the Year" would be reluctant to talk when there would be consequences for his lies.

I am through. When you start refering to "the lord" as a source of verifiable information there is no doubt that you are clinically insane. Do you hear voices too? Guess what other group of people claims god is directing them? Thats right!!! The Jihadists!!
Give it up Mark. God is an idea of mans, not the other way around.

tomjeff,

That would be your mere opinion, of no particular value to anyone but yourself, if it has any value at all.

Posted by: Mark Noonan at March 17, 2007 07:37 PM

"I dont care what party your from, if you dont have truth you dont have anything. For the past 6 years I have felt like I have gotten very little from this administration except denials and outright lies. It bothers me that people aren't interested in the truth."

Written like a true disciple of Kos and Prison Planet. "Felt."

The fact is, the "reality based community" makes up their own truth. It is a little fantasy land based on seething, abject, person hatred of George Bush, a man they have never met. It is one thing to disagree, even hate a politicians political viewpoints, but how can your hate a person you do not know?

I despise the vast majority of Kerry's political views. Same with Dean, Kennedy, et al. But I do not hate them. I do not know them.

But, the democrats are the party of personal destruction, and it is so intensely personal that they can't even sleep well.

Sad, really.

Libby trial: Craig Schmall, Libby's CIA briefer at the time, testified that Libby had discussed Valerie Wilson with him. Schmall also testified that after the leak occurred, while he was briefing both Cheney and Libby, they asked him what he thought about the leak scandal. Noting that some commentators had dismissed the leak as "no big deal," Schmall explained that he considered it a "grave danger." He explained to Libby and Cheney that foreign intelligence services could now investigate everyone who had come into contact with Valerie Wilson when she had served overseas. "Those people," he said, "innocent or otherwise, could be harassed...tortured or killed."

Can I take it Mark Noonan wants people like Valerie Plame working to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons technology to be harassed, tortured and killed?

Posted by: Gary Denton at March 17, 2007 10:06 PM

If you righties were honest with yourselves, you would acknowledge the fact that - were the parties reversed in the whole Plame affair - you would be calling for the hanging of whomever it was that said anything, whether it was Sy Hersh who wrote the column (aka, Novak), Gore's Ch of Staff (aka, Libby), or Scowcroft (aka, Armitage).

To pretend otherwise is plain-and-simple a joke.

Psst, Noonan...you're the one trying like hell every day to rewrite history on everything from Plame to Iraq to, for some strange reason, Gandhi.

That said, your projection remains hilarious. Keep it up!

Thanks, PM(S); I aim to please. At least you have a sense of humor. Not much else in the way of sense, sadly, but a sense of humor is good, son.

Mark, thanks for taking action on imposter posters. You know that I'd never call you any derogatory names, nor would I insinuate that you are lying. Now these kooks are gonna call me a sycophant, so I'd better stop. God Bless you, Mark.

Here we are three days after her testimony and no calls from the Justice department to file perjury charges against her for stating she had nothing to do with the selection of her husband for the Niger trip. It is starting to look as if the Republican lead Senate Intelligence Report stating as fact Wilson’s wife personally recommended her husband is just another one of those Republican cherry picking paper tigers loaded with false and misleading statements.
