Plame to Testify

Interesting:

WASHINGTON -- Valerie Plame, the CIA (employee who's husband lied about what he found in Africa), will testify next week before lawmakers probing how the White House dealt with her (non-covert) identity, the chairman of the panel said Thursday.

Also invited to testify March 16 before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is Patrick Fitzgerald, who this week won conviction of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby of obstruction and perjury in the case, said Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif. (MSM reported edited in order to make it lie-free)

In the report, she's been "invited" to testify and has agreed - this says to me that she won't be under oath, which is a pity. We can also rest assured that she'll be heavily coached on what to say, and will likely know in advance the questions Democrats will ask...and the MSM will run the most favorable coverage imaginable (I smell a cover story in Time coming soon about her). Still, we GOPers can do some good work here if the GOP members of the committee are on the ball. There is absolutely no question that in order to sustain the absurd Plame story, Plame will have to lie - and well-versed GOPers on the committee will be able to catch her in the lies quite easily.

Lets hope everyone is studying up for this hearing.

i hope this fiasco takes a long time, because when our useless lawmakers are tied up in these hearings, they're not spending our hard-earned money...

just a moment, unass the political horse.

it isn't right for plame, or anyone covert to be exposed for any reason.

the perjury & obstruction shows folks knew it was wrong.

our govt is much more than political parties, even tho neither party wants anyone to think or behave accordingly.

exposing agents has killed people.

Posted by: OhioOrrin at March 9, 2007 07:16 AM

they're not spending our hard-earned money...

Or figuring out ways to separate more of it from our wallets. There is a reason why they call it the "Ways and Means Committee", heh.

It would be nice to get to the bottom of this whole rediculous affair, but I wouldn't count on Plame and Fitzgerald shedding too much light on it.

I don't know too much about Fitzfong, but Plame will be a joke. This will serve to sell more books, and fatten her and Joe the Liar's wallets...

Could some one post a list of the GOP members of this committee? That way we can make sure they know that a little hardball with Plame and Fitzgerald is in order? We may not hear much about it in the MSM - but some of the info will get out. Also, maybe one of the GOPers will have the cajones to demand that one or both of them be put under oath.

Someone told me that Bill Clinton fired all of the US Attorneys when he came into office. Is this true?

Posted by: Dindy at March 9, 2007 11:20 AM

When Plame was exposed it did not really put her life in danger. But of course all of the foreign nationals with whom she had worked in the past may now be exposed as at least associating with the CIA
It was just flat out wrong to expose her because her husband would not go along with the Saddam is seeking uranium in Africa lie.

I've been hearing Rush refer to Fitzgerald as "fitzfong" for weeks now; can somebody please explain the origin of this nickname?

You are forgetting, of course, that Ms. Plame was previously "outed" by Aldrich Ames, then again by the CIA when a "diplomatic pouch" was opened by the Cubans. Because of these "outings", she was recalled from foreign service. So any danger to foreign nationals or others was caused by the previous "outings", not by the most recent confirmation of what everyone on the D.C. cocktail circuit already knew.

So, your claim that she was exposed is.....a lie. Your claim about the "Saddam is seeking uranium in Africa lie" is also a lie. Joe "The Liar" Wilson actually confirmed what the CIA already suspected. There are confirmed reports that Iraq had approached Niger seeking to obtain yellow cake (Brit Intel). The Brits stand by this information and it have never been disproven.

Additionally, if she didn't want to be "exposed", maybe she should have told her husband not to list her on his "Who's Who" entry, on his website, and have her picture splashed across the pages of Vanity Fair.

Hey, A-10, welcome back. We've missed you.

I've been hearing Rush refer to Fitzgerald as "fitzfong" for weeks now; can somebody please explain the origin of this nickname?

19KGuy, it's a combination of the name "Fitzgerald" and "Nifong" (as in Mike Nifong, the prosecutor in the Duke Lacrosse team rape case.) The insinuation is that both prosecutors acted equally unprofessional.

A-10,

I second that - welcome back.

Guys,

I've been sitting on the sidelines shaking my head over the recent development: The donkeys running an anti-corruption campaign, while their leaders are among the most corrupt. Their leaders and the DBM twisting the facts, telling distortions, and lying to suit their agenda.

Figured it was time to step back into the fray. I only pray that in Nov 08, the adults retake control of Congress and retain the WH. Having children in control of both Houses of Congress is almost too much to bear.

The inmates have almost taken control of the asylum.

If possible, I hope she brings a list of all the covert agents and informers that were capture and/or killed due to her outting.

A-10.

Completely unsubstantiated rumors. Her history and career within the CIA is still classified.
There are only a few facts known about Valerie Plame and the CIA: that her status is still classified and that the CIA set up a front company for her in the mid-1990s, known as Brewster Jennings & Associates.

You allege she was outed twice. You really believe that the CIA would use an outed spy in relation to Russia as another spy for Cuba? Here, have some more Kool-Aid.

Joe "The Liar" Wilson actually confirmed what the CIA already suspected.

Debunked completely. Wilson's debriefing report is available. Wilson told the CIA exactly the same as he wrote in his famous Op-Ed.
How the CIA (and other intelligence agency's like the INR, and the WH in particular) used that report is a completely different story.

Posted by: Willem van Oranje [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 10, 2007 11:54 AM

Willem,

Try to follow along. Aldrich Ames provided the USSR with names of CIA operatives, Ms. Plame was one of those whose name was provided. You thinking it is a rumor does not change the fact, confirmed by former CIA officer Larry Johnson. During the Cuban "outing", Ms. Plame's name and relationship with the CIA was contained on documents sent to the Swiss Embassy in Havana. But the Cubans opened the sealed documents and learned of her status.

Finally, Wilson never provided a written report to the CIA, so how could his "report" be identical to his op-ed. Further, what was he thinking when he wrote a op-ed about a classified trip to gather intelligence for the CIA (if you consider sitting around the pool drinking, gathering intelligence). He didn't even ask about the Iraqi trade representative visiting Niger to talk about obtaining yellow cake.

Oh, wait. I know why he wrote the op-ed, which is filled with proven lies. It was because he is a political hack and was opposed to our efforts to defend America and spread democracy, something foreign to the left.

The facts remain that Ms. Plame was not a covert employee of the CIA, she was not "outed" by anyone within the Bush Administration (you can't "out" someone whose identity and CIA position was known by thousands of people), and the "classified" status of her career is meaningless. EVERYONE'S career with the CIA (with the possible exception of those who have served as Director) is classified.

As far as Joe "The Liar" Wilson is concerned, the facts are that Saddam possessed WMD. He used WMD on his own people and the Iranians. He had 12 years to divulge his WMD programs to the UN and he failed to do so. Each time the Iraqis gave their "Full and Complete" Report of WMD activities, the UN inspectors found undeclared programs and weapons. Are you so naive that you think that after 12 years of lies, deceptions, and deceit, Saddam had gotten rid of 100% of his WMD programs and weapons. We have even found over 500 chemical munitions. I know they were old, but he wasn't supposed to have ANY. ZERO. NONE. NADA. We found over 500, the $25,000 question is: "Were are the rest of his unaccounted for WMD?" In Syria? Buried in the desert?

The problem with the left is you are living in the past. You are still resentful over the impeachment of your idol, President Clinton. Well, President Clinton lied under oath, committed perjury, and obstructed justice. Hmmm, sounds like the same charges that were filed against Mr. Libby. But President Clinton walks free, and Mr. Libby is looking at a potention 30 year prison term.

You still believe President Bush stole the election in 2000 and again in 2004. Well he didn't. The ones who were trying to steal the election were Vice President Gore, by doing selective recounts, by trying to interpret voter intention, and blocking military absentee votes, and Senator Kerry, but claiming voter fraud in Ohio. Are you aware that the margin of President Bush's win in Ohio is greater that Senator Kerry's combined margin of victory in Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Hawaii, and Delaware (with about 33,000 votes to spare). Did we hear about any voter irregularities in these states? Wait, wasn't the son of the former Democrat Mayor of Milwaukee and the son of a sitting Democrat Congreswoman convicted of slashing the tires of Republican "get out the vote" vans? No, the donkey party would never commit voter fraud. If you believe that, I have some lovely swampland for sale you might be interested in.

For the left, everything is about hatred for the President, damaging the political fortunes of the opposing party, regardless of the consequences. You care not if your calls for pulling out of Iraq are emboldening the enemy. You only care that a withdrawal will damage a Republican President.

You demand resignations over inconsequential actions, yet you have a Senate Majority leader who has apparently participated in a number of land fraud scams. You have a senior Senator who was a leader of the KKK. You have another who committed a homicide, yet is reelected time and time again. You have another Senator who met with our enemies, during a time of war, while still a naval officer. In another time, he would be tried as a traitor. Instead, you run him as your party's presidential candidate. You have a sitting US Representative who was caught on tape taking a $100,000 bribe, yet you reelect him and appoint him to important committees. He should be asked to resign. You have a former US Representative who had sex with underage House Pages. You applauded when he turned his back on the Speaker of the House, then reelected him six times.

Your party is the party of the KKK. The party that supported segregration. The party that supported slavery. The party that is opposed to rights guaranteed in the Constitution - the freedom of speach, the freedom of religion, the right to bear arms. The party that has time and time again worked against the national security interests of the United States. Your party is a threat to the survival of the United States.
