Just a few notes...

No Retreat, No SurrenderStarting this evening, my blogging will be quite lite -- if not nonexistent -- for a few days, as I'm taking the next couple days off to spend with Beth, as we both have birthdays this week (mine is Friday, I turn 27). She is doing very well post-surgery.

This weekend I'll also be reading Tom DeLay's new book, No Retreat, No Surrender: One American's Fight, which I am looking forward to reading. DeLay was recently interviewed by NRO about his book, which you should also check out. I'll give a short review of the book when I am back to regular blogging.

Here's another DeLay interview courtesy of Kevin McCullough.

Happy birthday(s) from the entire team at Blogs 4 Brownback! It goes without saying that you serve as an inpiration to us all.

I look forward to your book report on Tom Delay's book.

Posted by: Psycheout [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 01:51 PM

That seems backwards. You write a book about corruption that read the teachings of corruption's foremost practicioner?

Posted by: someguy at March 21, 2007 02:42 PM

Happy Birthday, but it just another book about a Republican coming clean with his wife and dissing his colleagues.

It should have been titled "NO Morals, No Decency"

Posted by: Josh Keaton at March 21, 2007 04:03 PM

Good video, Matt. I listened to Delay the other day, on Rush's show. He explained how the DemocRATs won in '06, and warned that if conservatives didn't get hoppin', then we'd better get used to saying "President Clinton" again.

*shudder*

I am so glad Tom Delay did give up, retreat and surrender his Senate seat so easily.

The Bugman is embarrasment to this nation.

First hand advise from one of the foremost convicted criminals from the GOP.
Wow you guys are shameless,,,,

Posted by: Lomstradamus [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 05:38 PM

Lom... are you SERIOUSLY that stupid?

There has been no TRIAL... not because the Defense is slowing it down... because the Prosecutor could barely get a Grand Jury to indict, and he keeps saying he needs more time to build a case... talk about a fair and speedy trial.

It's going on nearly two years since he was indicted and yet NOTHING from the Prosecutor. I suppose that's because all Democrats wanted from this Democratic Prosecutor was an indictment because that would require DeLay to step down as House Majority Leader.

You should be ashamed of yourself for a BOLD FACED lie or the stupidest statement of the week.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 05:55 PM

willy you should be ashamed of yourself for being an ignoramus.

Posted by: Lomstradamus [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 05:59 PM

Wow... brave words... show me where DeLay was convicted...

Show me where he pleaded...show us...

If I'm so stupid...show me...

If you can't... then admit you are just trying to desperately flail around making statements you know are wrong and stupid, just to get a rise out of people.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:02 PM

Lomstradamus is the PERFECT example of what liberals are trying to do these days... if there is someone you don't like you start slow by calling them stupid and ignorant. Then you call them all sorts of "ist" names (racist, sexist, homophobic, etc). Then if that doesn't work, you call them criminals, regardless if they've been convicted, indicted, or even investigated.

I wonder how you step back from this sort of behavior... with any hope of being taken seriously.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:08 PM

OK there wa wawilli.
Name all the names I called you so all the good people can see how terrible liberals like me are.
lol........

editorial from NYT on DeLay's editorializing:

Since his forced retreat from power in a corruption scandal, Tom DeLay, the former House Republican majority leader, must have been watching re-runs of “Cool Hand Luke.” That film’s cynical rationalization of life’s conflicts as merely a “failure to communicate” is Mr. DeLay’s approach to explaining the Republicans’ loss of Congress last year.

No, no, he insists in a new memoir, it wasn’t voters revolting against the quid pro quo corruption that Mr. DeLay turned into a dark art. Rather, Republicans “did not communicate their message” and overcome “short-term, media-fed issues.”

Despite Mr. DeLay’s retreat from public office after his indictment for political money laundering, the memoir is, of course, entitled “No Retreat, No Surrender.” Mr. DeLay excoriates former colleagues from Newt Gingrich to the leader of the moribund House ethics committee that finally found the temerity to admonish him. He is furious that Republicans didn’t back his attempt to stay in power after his indictment.

The private sector that the DeLay Inc. machine milked like a political cash cow is defended as if it were an underdog. “We should start recognizing that those who work in that sector have a right to political representation also,” says the former lawmaker as he defends his golf junket to Scotland — arranged by Jack Abramoff, the now-imprisoned lobbyist — as a genuine savings for the taxpayer.

Occasionally, truth peeks through. At one point, Mr. DeLay does allow that voters faced “a general perception of Republican incompetence and lack of principles.” Well, at least that got communicated, Mr. Former Leader

Democracy without Delay......

I'm sorry I neglected to mention that I'm very happy that your girlfriend Beth is doing well after surgery. All the best to you both. I'll bet it was scary and I'm glad things are on the upswing. That's the power of prayer.

Ignore the mindless lib bashers. You're doing great work.

Posted by: Psycheout [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:22 PM

Come on Lom... you did call me "an ignoramus."
That just illustrated my point.

You ARE wrong... won't own up to it... so you call me names.

Through all the posts you make here, you start with Republicans (of any sort) being stupid, then you question their motives and suggest they are racist, homophobic, fascists, etc. And if that doesn't get you enough traction, you call them criminals.

You cannot name an ACTUAL crime Bush committed, yet he's a "war criminal." And before that he was a fascist. And before that he was stupid. You can't name a crime the AG committed, but he's a criminal. It appears you just skipped a step or two with Alberto Gonzales.

Why don't you be slightly honest with yourself and admit what you said was 100% factually wrong. And why don't you just own up to your childlike behavior.

Happy birthday Matt and Beth!
:)

Posted by: Freedom1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:39 PM

Good for you Matt and I'm glad to see Beth is doing better.

Last week, while in China, my wife's step-dad died along with two friends of our ours, so needless to say, it's been a rough week.

I'm doing the same as you, only working on arrangements for funerals and the arrival of family members....what a freakin mess.

It's beginning to sink in how my Dad told me years ago that the older I get, the more of my friends will pass away...he was right, as if I didn't already know, but it's a good thing to listen to the Ole Man now and then. Speaking of Old, I haven't seen Kahn posting lately...just kidding if you're out there Kahn ;)

PS. My birthday is this week too, so happy B-day to the both of you!

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:45 PM

all right - happy birthday and I hope the best for your wife...

On to this topic. Why do you feel the need to defend anyone in the republican party. I mean - why be so incredibly partisan to ignore all the facts. Its just sad. Why not just attack people for being corrupt. Not for being corrupt democrats or corrupt republicans.

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 06:57 PM

Happy birthday, Matt and Beth! And, happy birthday, navydad ... and condolences on your loss.

"Shudder" is right, GIGLIH! I'll be working major overtime in '08 to make sure that doesn't happen.

Lom must be frantically scurring around the leftwing sites for his proof. LOL!

Posted by: kimberly4bush [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 07:21 PM

kblack... will acknowledge that DeLay hasn't been convicted, nor is he getting a fair trial at this point?

Further, will you at least acknowledge that at the time of the actual "incidents" that DeLay was indicted on, it wasn't a crime?

Those are facts.

I'm all for you... Let's find Corruption where it is. I hope you aren't going to follow Charlie Rangel's approach... no indictments for DeLay but say the "controversy" warrants his resignation... yet say that Mr. Jefferson shouldn't be forced to resign until convicted...

I, for one, think consistency on this issue is important. I hope you do, too.

The good news is that the antichrist of the progressive movement is out of government!!
Soooo...he had someone else write a book for him (with one word on every page) and confessed like his slimeball twin Newt. I guess if you confess to Christ that you can murder, rape and pillage and all is forgiven.
This website is the last bastion of Bush supporters that exists on this planet. Even the NRO today is antibush. Who writes here? Ann Coulter supporters? On Fox news last night your suck buddy Sean claimed that Bush said "under oath". Hmmmm.
As my Russian forefathers said in broken English; "Give a 'kook at that".

UNRELATED -

I found another media bias for ya'll.

How far do you have to read this article before you know if he is a Dem or a Repub? Answer - You dont have to read it at all, the title says it all.... Simply by not saying.

Smoke some more, tomjeffair, and spare us your incomprehensible babbling.

Posted by: Psycheout [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 21, 2007 10:30 PM

I can think of better titles for his book.

"No parole, No time off for good behavior"

"Justice DeLayed"

"Memoirs of a prison Geisha"

"From bug man to Leader to buggered man"

Posted by: Christian Wright at March 21, 2007 11:28 PM

Tom DeLay's political carrer is over folks. Move along...

Posted by: Lomstradamus [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 22, 2007 12:59 AM

Great..

A book written by the most corrupt, womanizing politician in history, in which he disses corrupt womanizers in his OWN party.

Pardon me but, YAAAWWWWN !

Posted by: Chose.Life.Not.War at March 22, 2007 06:17 AM

Delay isn't convicted, os he's not corrupt. I assume that's why no one brings up William Jefferson. Not convicted, so he's not corrupt. yeah, it's different somehow.

Navydad, my prayers go out to your family.

Posted by: someguy at March 22, 2007 10:37 AM

Yet Lom still doesn't admit that he either was wrong or was just lying for political hack purposes.

Come on Lom... can't bring yourself to admit your blind hatred of Republicans led you to spew falsehoods.

Are you not adult enough to admit you made a patently WRONG statement?

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 22, 2007 12:39 PM

As my Russian forefathers said in broken English; "Give a 'kook at that".

Don't you mean your four Russian fathers, tomjeff? You know, a DNA test could clear up that puzzle.
