Bad news for Jihad Jack Murtha...

When he even has to out-jihad the likes of Al Jazeera...

Even Al Jazeera Sees Improvement in Baghdad Situation
By Mark Finkelstein
CNSNews.com Correspondent
March 07, 2007

(CNSNews.com) - Indications that the new U.S. military strategy in Iraq is starting to improve conditions in Baghdad came from an unlikely source Wednesday -- the Qatar-based al Jazeera television network.

"I was just earlier this afternoon [Iraq time] with Al Jazeera English, talking to their reporter," Multi-National Force spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell told Cybercast News Service from Baghdad.

"She gets downtown [Baghdad] a lot. She was the one who told me, 'You know, General, there's a real change in the city right now.' And I said, 'Well, I can't tell you I definitely know that.'

"But she said, 'No, there is. I'm down there all the time, and there's a positive change in the city. The people are feeling like something is different - not able to articulate exactly what's different, but they're feeling that something is different.'"

Caldwell, who made the comments during a conference phone call, was responding to a question about whether he has seen any change in media coverage of the situation in Iraq in recent days.

He predicted that the improved conditions in the capital would "speak for themselves" and in time be reported by the U.S. media when reporters are embedded with military units in the days ahead.

Caldwell told Cybercast News Service that reporters have begun to embed with the 2nd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division, operating in Sadr City, and he expected positive media reports soon.

"Everybody had predicted that the Sadr City movement would be very challenging, but it's actually proving to be very much a cooperative effort between us, the Iraqi security forces and the citizens, the residents, of Sadr City.

"It's very positive," he said. "Not a shot's been fired, and everything seems to be moving along in a positive vein."

Ooooh... that's gotta hurt Jihad Jack, who has hitched his political fortunes to failure in Iraq, and most recently to try to derail Bush's new strategy.

Sucks to be you, Jack.

The hard work of our young men/women, the Iraqi military & police force are to be commended and honored! They are doing a fantastic job(regardless of the naysayers)! Also, my fellow Christians, keep up the prayers, they are very needed! Replevin from heaven in 2007!!!

Did Maj. Gen. William Caldwell talk to this reporter before or after the Book Market Bombing last Tuesday?
Before or after the announcement that 9 US GIs were killed on Tuesday, 6 in a roadside bombing in Salahuddin Province north of Baghdad, and 3 more in Diyala to the northeast of the capital?
Before or after the killings of at least 146 Shiite pilgrims on their way to Karbala yesterday?

the only problem is that you know you can't trust the liberal media.

That's it, Wilhelmina...

Keep rooting for the terrorists!

Gad--I hope yours is the first head they lop off if ever they should prevail.

Your blind idiocy and rancor against the United States is really getting old.

It must be working... it's barely mentioned in the press. ONLY bombings are reported.

More GOOD NEWS out of Iraq- Al Qaim is Island of Stability
United Press International, by Pamela Hess

HUSAYBA, Iraq (UPI) -- Al-Qaim is an oasis of stability in the chaos of Iraq. But it was not always this way. This region on the western border of Iraq -- literally a stone`s throw to Syria -- used to be what the U.S. Marines call 'the Wild West.' It was violent, out of control, and for awhile firmly in the grips in al-Qaida in Iraq and other Islamist insurgent groups.

Now, however, the markets are full; people are walking, shopping and building new homes, at least in Husayba, the major city in the area, and the surrounding villages south of the Euphrates River. For the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, it is proof the tenets in the U.S. military`s counterinsurgency manual published last year actually works.

That manual discusses how to win the low-intensity, long, small wars expected to characterize most conflicts the United States will engage in in the foreseeable future. At its heart, it counsels soldiers to win the loyalty and cooperation of the local people. It emphasizes restraint when dealing with civilians, precision when fighting insurgents, and jumpstarting the economy and political life, and helping provide basic services like water and power.

The United States military is just awesome!

Didn't you wonder that nowhere in the article is stated how big Husayba is? A border city in Al Anbar, three square miles in size and once a thriving trade city of some 30,000 people but now with only an estimated 5,000 to 15,000 residents? All Sunni.

Have you read how much effort it has cost to get Husayba "under control"?

Now extrapolate that to a city like Baghdad, with 7 million inhabitants, Sunni ánd Shiite, and to the rest of the country, Sunni, Shiite ánd Kurdish.

so, Al Jazeera is now a reliable source? About a week ago, people were posting that Al Jazeera lies, as does the MSM. You can't then use it as a reliable source.

I'm not rooting for violence, but was expecting that militias would lay low. The test is not what happens now, but what happens after the surge.

Can we trust the Israeli news? http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=1854§ionid=3510202
According to an Israeli newpaper, a former member of the Israeli military has been selling arms to insurgents in iraq. They then kill other Iraqis or U.S. soldiers. This seems to be why people want to attack iran, except the proof is stronger here. Do we attack Israel, and thus prevent the Rapture, or just accept the Irn thing is a sham?

But Islam is the "religion of peace", so there's no problem. Muslims would never kill muslims- especially not Muslims in markets, or in schools, or on the streets, or in restaurants, or....

Yea, thanks to the liberal media there are a LOT of good things NOT mentioned.

Oops, I was wrong, above. Muslims do kill Muslims and in great numbers:

Yemeni Regime Declares Jihad on Shiites

from Jane Novak's blog:

...The media war is heating up with the official press disparaging the Zaidi Shiites (not just the rebels) in general as Satanic. Random citizens are being arrested. And just when I’m starting to come around to the idea that the Houthis should surrender, the Yemeni government declares Jihad on its own citizens. The regional implications are staggering, especially for the Horn of Africa.
