Left Disappointed By Failed Attack Aimed At Cheney?

Jason gives us some samples of left wing reactions to the news that Cheney was the intended target of an attack at Bagram, Afghanistan, and its disgraceful.

Meanwhile, the Huffington Post seems to be itching to blame Cheney for the 20 deaths that resulted from the attack, headlining the story, "Over 20 Die In Attack Aimed At Cheney."

I can imagine what the liberal talking points might be: Blame Cheney, Bush, and other Bush administration officials for "putting the lives of soldiers at risk for the sake of a photo-op" or something like that. Of course, members of both parties make trips to Afghanistan and Iraq. Democrats in particular have used these trips to give the appearance that they, all evidence to the contrary, support out troops.

Well there not exactly greeting us as liberators, now are they?

So how are Democrats and roughly 65% of the American public who oppose Bush's Iraqi debacle like these thugs who attempted to kill Cheney?

That's what Cheney says. But then he has been wrong about mostly everything.

Posted by: Wade at February 27, 2007 01:28 PM

Probably just some frat boys blowing off steam. Or, one of the liberation fireworks blew off course. Things are going great. Nothing to worry about.

Posted by: tsmith at February 27, 2007 01:32 PM

Well I'm one of those leftists who was very disappointed they didn't get the son of the devil. Oh well, better luck next time boys. LOL

Posted by: Ben at February 27, 2007 01:34 PM

"Over 20 Die In Attack Aimed At Cheney" is clearly partisan rhetoric, and grossly misleading, because...I can't think of a single way of ending that sentence that wouldn't raise questions about my sanity.

"Over 20 dead" seems like a statement of fact, though it's possible that the number is wrong. i have no way of verifying that. They seem to have died during an attack. Doesn't seem that controversial. I suppose it might be specualtion, saying it was aimed at Cheney, though he was on the news in neighboring Pakistan, and it might be possible for someone to detect an increase in security and thus guess he may be showing up there. Is that the controversial part that you object to?

Since attacks on our soldiers are common, perhaps the article should have read "over 20 killed in attack on U.S. base." I'm not sure that's newsworthy though. Someone attacking our soldiers is normal. it is possible that attack would ahve occurred whether Cheney was there or not.
I haven't seen anyone really celebrating. You seem to be stretching point. meanwhile, it's being reported that money that disappeared in iraq may have made it's way to Al Qaeda, so they will attack iran (the two hate each other). Why isn't that an issue?

Posted by: someguy at February 27, 2007 01:46 PM

2 bad cheney didn't shotgun the bombers face before detonation.

course the holy warrior may not have realized he didn't have a face left due to the islamic endorsed opium high.

Posted by: OhioOrrin at February 27, 2007 01:48 PM

My husband has served 2 tours in Afganistan. Unfortunately this stuff happens all the time!!!

Its just more glorified because Cheney is there.

And the way the left is spnning it, makes me sick!

Posted by: AFWIFE [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 01:52 PM

The libs that post at the Huffingpot Post are dillusional to say the least. If you'll notice, each and every topic/comment is directly or indirectly related to their hatred for GW and his VP...how sad.

Hear...hear B4B!! Matt, Mark, Leo, Princella and the others for a variety of topics that generate productive dialogue.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 01:56 PM

Hey, remember that post complaining about using the exceptions to define the rule? I'm sure you've forgotten, because now you're criticizing Democrats using the same exact strategy.

Posted by: Gar Wood [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 01:58 PM

Cheney is responsible for 20 more deaths of innocent Afghans. You filthy Republicans are responsible for this Fiasco. Impeach Cheney. Impeach Bush!

Gee, the war is really going well, huh?
Dick(tator) Cheney?

Posted by: Steve Higley at February 27, 2007 02:59 PM

When do the Dems start demanding withdrawal from Afghanistan?

Oh wait, they can't. They have been using Afghanistan to justify their demands for withdrawal from Iraq.

Of course, signaling terrorists that America isn't seriously trying to defeat them in the first place, as has has proven ever since Viet Nam, I'm sure they don't feel emboldened, right?

Posted by: Lew Waters [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 03:26 PM

Speaking of Cheney, when he was in Pakistan, he told Mushareff that he had to toughen up against the AQ elements in his country or else the Democratic-controlled Congress would (rightly) cut aid to Pakistan. What can we learn from that statement?

1. It completely invalidates Cheney's comments from the week before that the judgements of Pelosi, the leader of the Democratic Congress, validated AQ's strategy. If Pelosi was validating AQ's strategy, why would the Congress that she controls be intent on putting pressure on AQ in Pakistan?

2. It infers that the previous, Republican-controlled Congress had little or no interest in holding Mushareff to his promises to root out AQ in Pakistan.

Clearly, Cheney knows what we all know: the Democratic Congress is better suited to fight the War on Terror than the previous Congress.

Posted by: steveGA at February 27, 2007 03:47 PM

I do not think there is a day that goes by that the Democrats do not have something positive to say about our country.

If could be a pefectly blue sky and the dems would blame that on Global Warming and how someone somewhere has been cheated by it.

Posted by: Tom at February 27, 2007 03:57 PM

Good little liberals; always hoping for doom to visit the United States, always viewing things through a soda-straw, always on the wrong side.

The fools would get dragged off to the gallows by their islamic overlords still saying, "But we were on YOUR side!"

Posted by: Bacon-I Will Miss Thee [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 04:06 PM

LOL...Bacon!

OT, but on Meet the Depressed Sunday, Senator Bifocular insisted that we were fighting terrorists in Iraq...but what happened to the civil war? He also insisted that there was a "handful" of terrorists there prior to the invaision and now it's a breeding ground...hmmmm, ya think? Senator Levin pretty much shot himself in the ars with that comment. It's rather funny how the dems go back and forth between terrorism and civil war. Soon it'll be civil war in Afghanistan and they'll try to use that to cut-n-run there too.

AFWIFE...thank your husband for all of us and thank you for your husband's support!!

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 05:11 PM

rj3000, why do you support the terrorists?

Yeah, I was waiting for them to blame Cheney for the deaths of those poor folks.

Myself, I'd probably blame the maniac who blew himself up...

Posted by: God is Great--Libs I Hate... [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 05:32 PM

I'm sure those attacks DO happen all the time. What makes the whole business more newsworthy is Cheney was there, as noted in the previous post. VP Cheney was saying in Australia and Japan just days before that everything is peachy keen in the Middle East, the kind of 2003 talking points he won't make in America anymore. Who he's aiming these speeches at I don't know: most of America isn't buying it, Australia doesn't like him and neither does Japan. I guess it's all a sop to the base meant to be aired in snippets on Fox News.

Posted by: Jay Gualtieri at February 27, 2007 05:40 PM

I wonder why the terrorists never target the democrats when they go over to the mideast. Hmmm, I wonder why??

Posted by: james allegro at February 27, 2007 05:53 PM

no sane person is happy to hear of people being blown up. And yes even being from the left I am glad that the vice president didn't get blown up. I think its just a *little* bit of an over statement to take a few short statements from some blog and to come to the conclusion that "the left is spinning this",etc...
Get over yourselves - we don't care that much

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:07 PM

Hey, kblack,

Go check out some of the more prominent lefty blogs, you moron. It's more than a few comments--these people, your people, have an unfounded hatred for people they don't even know.

And that's why I despise 99% of you libs. The number used to be 100%, but I kinda like Tammy Bruce, and can tolerate a few others. But you libs who pollute this blog are dog crap to me, and if you all disappeared, it wouldn't bother me a bit.

navydad, did you listen to Rush today? He got an e-mail from a friend who was IM'ing a comedy writer of one of the late-night shows, and this comedy writer was all over wanting Cheney to be blown up.

Sure is a lot of BDS out there. I don't think it was this bad when Slicky Blue Dress was staining up the Oral Office...

Posted by: God is Great--Libs I Hate... [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:18 PM

hmm who has a unfounded hatred for people they don't even know, hmmm

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:31 PM

and if your going to make this claim - please give me the specific sites - none of the ones i have visited even mention what happened today

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:33 PM

77...you do! But you libs don't know you're doing it! That's the problem. Your side is so emphatic about your hatred for our President that it's almost as if you're blinded by it.

The visceral language and the hateful overtones of pols regarding the administraion is sickening.

Hey God

Only caught part of it, but I'll replay in the AM before I get started.

Hey, in another string I mentioned that Slick Willy and his Ho haven't been heard from on the Global Warming issue. Think they're watching the polls and Gore to see how the wind blows?

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:43 PM

well - um - you said unfounded...

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:52 PM

77, try Huffingpot Post..it's filled with anti-American, anti-Bush/Cheney comments.

Maybe you could stay there while your at it???

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 06:52 PM

Posted by: navydad at February 27, 2007 06:43 PM

77...your hatred for our President that it's almost as if you're blinded by it.

Hey God

..(President)Slick Willy and (Former First Lady) his Ho haven't been heard from on the Global Warming issue.

Only a true Neocon could put all that in one post. Hate, God, Hate. Limbaugh and Hannity would be proud. I am beginning to believe you were invited to the White House with the other members of corporate media for talking points.

I an certain as a military person you had not one word of hate for President Clinton in the 1990s, because you know that would be discrespectful.

Posted by: Josh Keaton at February 27, 2007 06:58 PM

No, see, that's one of the differences between the right and the left. You guys are the ones calling for more blood, while we are not so excited about killing.

I don't want the vice president to be killed. I don't know anyone who does.

Again, how do you live with yourself?

Posted by: PM at February 27, 2007 07:03 PM

so i went to huffington post. They quoted the AP article about it in full and then the comments included:
"glad the vp is ok"

yes there are some posts that complain about his policies - but nothing about blaming Cheney..

Posted by: kblack77 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 07:08 PM

How odd black that the comments have been disabled since this morning.

Either you're making it up, or you're looking at other a comment from the AP, or just the Cheney Spokesperson.

Michelle Malkin actually has screen captures from the HuffPo(op), the DailyKos, and the DU.

Check out what your buddies actually said before you defend them. Renounce them if you have the courage to do it.

Just like it makes me laugh when you can't spell or don't know how to spell usury.

I'm sure you used the theausaurus to find that word. Nothing you've demonstrated here on any post shows that you are smarter than the four letter words you like to pepper your posts with.

Not at all RJ.
They are both literate, and smarter than you.
They'll be along soon enough and you'll be gone. Which you'll sit there in some sort of happy "chest pumped up" attitude like you taught us something. Sad thing is, we'll forget you and your idiotic posts no sooner than they come down.

You haven't been overly offensive to me yet, I assume it's coming soon enough.

Wow... as you know, most great minds spend their evenings watching American Idol.

Out of curiosity RJ, how many times have you been banned in the past? Three, four, or more?

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 08:04 PM

Well, I apologise for all that obscenity which was here for a while - got to it just as soon as I noticed it.

We here Blogs for Bush know precisely when we've nailed the left right between the eyes...every time we have to spend time getting rid of a series of obscene comments...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 08:24 PM

Why the need to take a victory lap after banishing left wing hate speech Mark? There are few limits on the bile the regulars here can spew, some of it against people who just respectfully disagree. I would have a lot more respect for you guys if you encouraged everyone who posts here to engage in an honest discourse devoid of personal attacks. When you strip away the calumny, there are some very bright folks here from all sides of the political spectrum.

Posted by: Thrower [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 27, 2007 11:22 PM

Thrower,

You'll also note, however, that we generally let people slam right back...as long, that is, as it doesn't turn into a vitriol contest....

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2007 01:23 AM

Liberals here who posted that you would be happy to see Cheney dead. I'm NRA. And I'm getting pretty sick of you guys also.

Your willingness to wish death upon conservatives and your repeated and documented violent acts against us is why we are suspicious of your constant efforts to quash second amendment rights.

Do you really advocate Civil War? Because to me, it sounds like you do.

SOME of the comments from the Huffington Post BEFORE the thread was shutdown.....

Better luck next time! (TDB)

Dr Evil escapes again ... damn. (truthtopower01)

So Cheney is personally responsible for the deaths of 14 innocent people ... and then he waddles off to lunch!! What a piece of sh--! (fantanfanny)

Jesus Christ and General Jackson too, can't the Taliban do anything right? They must know we would be so gratefull (sic) to them for such a remarkable achievement. (hankster2)

Hey, Thalia, lighten up. I, for one, don't wish Cheny (sic) had been killed. I wish he had been horribly maimed and had to spend the rest of his life hooked to a respirator. Feel better now? (raisarooney)

Let's see ... they're killing him over there so we don't have to kill him over here? (ncjohn)

And they missed!? Oh, Hell. Like Mamma used to say, I guess it's the thought that counts ... (Anachro1)

You can never find a competent suicide bomber when you need one. (Mark701)

But these aren't representative of the radical left......yada yada yada

Posted by: TiredofLibBullShit [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2007 09:43 AM

Do you really advocate Civil War? Because to me, it sounds like you do.

Kahn, if you look at the modern history of politically related violence in this country, the lions share has been committed by the Left. Whether or not there will be another Civil War in this country depends, to a great extent, on whether or not our incremental march toward Socialism happens fast enough to satisfy the patience of those on the radical Left. From everything I've read, the majority in this country is Conservative, especially on economic matters, but the forces of socialism just keep chipping away at our basic freedoms, all the while accusing the Right of doing the same thing.

I certainly don't advocate settling our differences through violence, and, at my age, I'm not sure I'd even want to survive it. If it were to happen, I can visualize one of two scenarios: the Radical Left loses its patience and goes off the deep end, or the Right finally says "enough" and goes off the deep end. Either way it's a rather ugly thing to contemplate.

Posted by: Retired Spook [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2007 09:48 AM

DUmmie Funnies has its usual humorous give and take on this topic, although this is my favorite:

Would love to see war crimes prosecution for Cheney. How do we do that?

With 16% of the military saying they're Democrats and hardly any of the officers. The civil war the liberals appear to be advocating would be pretty interesting.

Blah, Blah, Blah Sean Hannity got his panties in a bunch about these meaningless anonymous emils on his show with his good friend, the infamously toxic Ann Coulter. The same woman who said "We need somebody to put rat poison in Justice Steven's crème brulee," questioned whether it was more appropriate "to impeach or assassinate" Bill Clinton, suggested New York Times staffers be "executed," and titled a column on Lincoln Chafee, "They Shot the Wrong Lincoln." And she did so proudly, openly, and in her own name -- not in an comment.
