The Democrats Are Coming, The Democrats Are Coming!

Today is the Day of the Democrat...they'll take over Congress and, well, pretty much waste their time for 100 hours as they shove through bills which will die or be heavily modified in the Senate, where Democrats require at least 9 GOPers to go along with anything they want to do....and, of course, they need President Bush's approval for every action, because there is no way the Democrats will cobble together 2/3 majorities to over-ride a veto.

We Republicans should be of good cheer - remember, these are Democrats; they will blow it. This is especially true as the leadership of the Democratic Party is mostly kook-leftist these days. As the Party of Congressional opposition, we'll have the fun task of picking to pieces every action of the Congress and pointing out how mind-bogglingly stupid it is. Democrats are also up to their necks in corruption (I know, I've co-written the book on the subject) and while they were in the minority status, a lot of things were allowed to slide because, quite honestly, the GOP had better things to do than run down Democratic corruption...well, we've got some free time on our hands now.

The Democratic majority rests on exceptionally thin, GOP-district ice...any overt step to the left, and we'll be able to paint even the most conservative Democratic House member as de-facto communist. If even 10% of the Democrats in GOP districts survive the 2008 elections, I'll be surprised. The Congressional ball is in the Democrats court...but they reallyl don't have a clue what to do with it...their kook-left base is slavering after gay marriage and impeachment hearings, but to maintain their majority, Democrats must stay a mile away from all issues like that...and I don't think they're going to be able to square this circle.

For you younger GOPers, this will be an instructive time - being in the minority has its drawbacks, but it also tends to be a lot more fun, on a day to day basis. So, relax - make some popcorn, and watch the freak show unfold.

So Mark, are we going to have to do what the DemocRATs did in '06, and run a bunch of phonies? The far left did not win in '06, although to read some of the troll drivel here, you'd think Katrina van den Evil was the incoming House Speaker, and Al Franken was the incoming Senate Majority Leader.

And let me remind everyone who, in '04, said that Bush had no mandate because he won only 51%-49%--the donks hold a 51% majority in the Senate. Their majority in the House? Drum roll please...it's 51%. So, if I wanted, I could claim that the DemocRATs have the same "mandate" that Bush had. But I won't go there; I'm not a sore loser. You see, this may be a game of winners and losers for you loser trolls, but for me, it's about my country, a country your side will ruin, given half the chance.

Well your predictions have always been 100% on target before... /snark

So Mark, are we going to have to do what the DemocRATs did in '06, and run a bunch of phonies?

OK, I'm not Mark, but I'll take a stab at this question. I assume that by "phonies", you mean GOPers who sound like righties, but who really aren't. I would recommend against the GOP doing this, because conservatives are usually more successful when we run and govern as conservatives. As some have noted, one of the main reasons the GOP lost is that they have abandoned conservative principles and have stuffed us with pork, now euphemistically called "earmarks". While the Dems have been successful running people whose stances are GOPish, this doesn't work in reverse. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that too many in the GOP understand this.

Al Franken was the incoming Senate Majority Leader.

Now that is a scary thought. Not as scary as President Hillary Cinton, but nightmarish enough.

And let me remind everyone who, in '04, said that Bush had no mandate because he won only 51%-49%--the donks hold a 51% majority in the Senate.

I don't recall the Dems cautioning Mr. Bill about any mandate or lack thereof, when his share of the popular vote was 43% in '92 and 49% in '96. Like their newfound beliefs that wars should not be "unilateral" and that presidents without combat experience cannot legitimately send our troops into war, the Dem's belief that a president's right to seek the implementation of his ideas is related to his margin of victory was nowhere to be found when one of their own was in the White House.

nice try mark. You guys slay me. If you had ANY intellectual honesty at all, you would readily admit that your team got their asses handed to them because they are incompentant, corrupt, rightwing whackos.

America has turned their backs on you and your kind.

I have a nephew who was a staunch conservative. You know the type. Limbaugh listener, Bush huggin'fool..............he told me, and I quote "I. Am. Done. I'm voting for John Edwards".

That doesn't bode well for your plan of smear and fear of 'left wing whackos' If a little hitler youth like my nephew can be so easily swayed into voting for what is arguably the most liberal of all dems, you guys have not only lost the center, but a great portion of your base as well.

Good luck with your campaign to box dems in policy disputes. You don't have the majority power required to force anything. Let alone YOUR agenda.

LOL!!!!!

voting for John Edwards is a sure vote to lose. Save that for vote for someone a little better.

Any if any one wants my HONEST view on the next 2 years and the '08 race. I offer this: the dems should FOLD. seriously i beleive that with every ounce of moderate leftism in me.

Look- 40 screwed the country financially mostly. Clinton saved us and tunred that red into a mountain of black. W took that mountain and made it a tunnel to china- litterally. Any righty with 1/2 brain can do the math on the debt and deficit.

I wouldn't want to inheirit this mess in '08. F- NO! it is sucha mess- i really offer to the dems to not even run. Let the reps. drive the nation down further. To try to fix this financial gorge is probably impossible. Why bother?

Not that our finances can get much worse (but i bet they can and will) i say let W keep running us into the dirt. MAybe, just MAYBE after 4 years with this spending spree someone will wake p and come to their senses.

I truly beleive this. I probably may even vote rep just to throw the election (nothing new in their eyes)

I also see thoguh the '06 election. It was anit-rigged. yeah really. I bet W and the gang took us for a ride and are now going to "cut and run" you know- take the money and run. They get al the glory and leave teh mess and BLAME to the dems. Smart move if you ask me.

" oh those darn dems... look at the financial mess they got us into this time" Yep, reps have a short memory on reality.

Carl and the puppets pulled a fast one over all of our eyes.

Hey Stensin....what planet are you from??? Talk about Screw + Ball = Imawackjob. Stop the left wing luncey. At least be sane when you debate....Jeeze!

Posted by: ticketplease at January 3, 2007 02:38 PM

You Democrats must be miserable vile people judging from the hatred dripping from your posts.

Actually i am pissed off. i am sick of the "fiscal conservative" running the country into the ground every so many years like a dog on his last meal.

And the gall by the right to say dems are some kind of spenders? What kind of reality check do you need? Because the lies you blindly follow are truly putting us in the poor house...with no house to sit in...that's bad.

"... remember these are the Democrats, they will blow it."

Now that's rich coming from a Republican lead administration that has completely screwed-up everything they've touched during their rein. From top to bottom, from foreign policy to national we're in the shitter.

Sorry to see that the party that's suppose to represent personal responsibility hasn't got the creditability to accept any when things go south.

Record low unemployment
The DJIA close to 13,000
Record highs in homewonership

These are just a few economic indicators that belie Bill's assertion. But what's a liberal without negative aspirations?

Posted by: Jay at January 3, 2007 05:26 PM

Gonnuts That's because thing's didn't go south- remember- they'll ignore reality! LOL

"Everythings fine" "stay the course" etc. etc. blah blah blah

I don't know if Righty really is that stupid or just lies to "himself" about things. I sometimes have to think all those on the right can't all be liars. But they all sing the same dance- "everything's fine" etc.

what's left to think? ;-)

"remember, these are Democrats; they will blow it."

The problem though is that it doesn't really matter how bad they blow it or what scandals they find themselves in. They've got the media on their side to influence the perceptions of the masses. And sadly perception equals reality for most folks.
