Rather Curious, Isn't It?

In June of 2005, between the 23rd of the month and the 30th, 39 agents of American Income Life Insurance each donated $1,000 to Nancy Pelosi's PAC to the Future (Source: OpenSecrets.org). That is $39,000, in a week, from 39 different people who are agents of the same company in many different States - and everyone is certain that this was just coincidence...it just so happens that all these agents for American Income Life Insurance are strong supporters not just of the Democratic Party, but of the particular PAC of the then-minority leader...

Back in 2004, John Edwards ran afoul of the campaign finance laws by being the beneficiary of orchestrated donations. This is the illegal process whereby a bunch of people at a firm make a donation, and then later have the donation refunded to them by the firm. Now, what we have here is either that, or the certain knowledge of these agents that Pelosi would be friendly to their Big Insurance cause....

Enjoy your majority!

Sounds like a concurrent FBI and House Ethics Comm. investigation to me.

Kahn,

It is certainly something, if a Republican had done it, which would bring forth denunciations from the Democratic leadership....

Posted by: Mark Noonan at January 13, 2007 01:14 AM

So?

Pelosi's seat is so safe for the Donks that they could dig up Saddam Hussein and run him as the candidate and still win the election for her replacement.

Leslie,

True, but there are some pinkos in her district who are very unhappy with her - it is the disillusionment which naturally comes when a rank-and-file pinko goes to his pinko leadership and asks that person to do something which conflicts with their own power/privilege/wealth. To this day, most people who adhere to liberal/left opinion don't realise that, along with being based on lies, their ideology is run by people who think themselves better than everyone else and who are determined on a socialist, egalitarian future for everyone but themselves.

Well yes, I have to agree with you there.

I think the whole doctrine or practice of Leftism, and the various forms of thugism in general, can be reduced down to eight words:

"BEHOLD ME! ADORE ME! OBEY ME! OR ELSE!"

Well, that's my theory.

And their need to feel superior appears to be a driving factor in some of their public behaviors, such as the invention of the Plastic Turkey of Bagdad story and the constant propagation of falsehoods in general.

Funny. Usually the first couple posts aren't quite as insane as these.

Yeah, that usually doesn't happen until your post makes the board. How's HW and DAV doin'?

Notice, Mark, how whenever a donk does something like this, it gets a pass. When one of the good guys/gals does it, the donks demand a frog-marchin'...

Insane? It smells like corruption to me. Worth an investigation anyways. Why not? I thought Democrats were going to end the "culture of corruption"? Surely - surly the Speaker of the House can stand up to an ethics investigation?

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 13, 2007 10:03 AM

I just don't understand why this surprises anyone at all. The democrats always have and always will be allowed to do just about anything they want. Hopefully America will wake up to this before it is to late. I speak terrible arabic, and I would have a problem worshiping a god that molests, I mean marries 12 year olds.

Culture of corruption. I'm thinking of a pot and a kettle.

Posted by: Rich at January 13, 2007 10:47 AM

Khan, there's not much chance in that happening, with the Donk-turds in power. They run the show, and they will clear their own of any chicanery...

Just for the heck of it, I took a look at contributions to John Boehner's leadership PAC for comparison. He recieved listed contributions from a total of 21 people who were all executives of Corinthian Colleges, virtually all of which were dated 3/7/06. He also received contributions from eight Indian tribes, most of them for $5,000, and all but one of which was dated either 3/31/06 or 5/31/06. I took a look at a few other leadership PACs, both Dem and Rep, and all of them had multiple contributions from members of some entity, many of which were dated around the same time.

So I'm wondering how this works. Are these contributions the result of fund-raisers maybe?

Ricorun,

Getting a lot of donations on one date is a fundraiser, getting a lot of donations over a week or two from entirely different people who work for the same company is, well, odd. Doesn't mean that illegality is present, but strange nonetheless.

What is especially bad here for Pelosi, even if it isn't the sort of illegality that Edwards engaged in, there is the fact that this is a lot of Big Insurance throwing money at her...where the liberal/left determination to fight for the little guy? As I keep saying to everyone who is a sincere liberal or leftists, the people you look to for leadership are corrupt and just using you...oh, they'll put through the odd liberal thing, mostly as it relates to abortion (there seems to be a genuine conviction the hearts of the Pelosi's of the world that being able to butcher an unborn child is very, very important), but they will put it through...but when you get right down to it, what the liberal/left leadership is about is their own power and privileges, and no one ever calls them on it...until, that is, Matt and I decided to write a little book...

G.I.G.L.I.H. - If Congress won't investigate - let the FBI look into it.

Rich - nice slogan. But we are apparently talking about an example that proves you wrong. But whatever, I doubt you actually think much about these things anyways. Its much easier to chant the slogan of the week.

Mark: "Getting a lot of donations on one date is a fundraiser, getting a lot of donations over a week or two from entirely different people who work for the same company is, well, odd. Doesn't mean that illegality is present, but strange nonetheless."

I hesitate to go into any sort of detail here. So let me just say this: check the ledgers of other congresscritters, both Rep and Dem. Then tell me how strange it is. Besides, to suggest that anything nefarious would take place on the level implied is to suggest that they are as dumb as fence-posts. Whatever else you could say about Pelosi, suggesting she is as dumb as a fence-post (especially about money matters) doesn't seem warranted. I suspect you'll have to go much deeper than your present level of analysis.

As far as your other contentions go, you seem to be assuming even more than you do about Pelosi's PAC contributions. That's not to say I'm surprised, I just doubt your accuracy. You have a history of making unwarranted, grossly superficial accusations, and simplifying things into absurdity. Tying together Big Insurance and abortion appears to be another example. What are you saying here? That Big Insurance is making more money on abortions than they would if said pregnancy were allowed to come to term, grow up and die 80 years later? Mind you, I'm not in favor of abortion, but your implied argument makes absolutely no sense at all. But again, that's not to say I'm surprised.
