Is This The Best They Can Do??

So, CREW published a photo of Bush and Jack Abramoff together. Click here to view it. They declare that the photo is "proof" that a "relationship exist[ed]."

Let me be the first to tell you, this photo proves nothing of the sort. The photo was taken at a fundraiser. Like any fundraiser, individuals who managed to donate a significant amount of money to the President's campaign got to take a photo with him. While I've never been one of these, I know people who have, and they have their own photos with the President that look just like this one. This photo was most certainly taken along with plenty others who donated to Bush's campaign who waited in line for the opportunity... does anyone believe that Bush had a "relationship" with all those individual donors?

UPDATE: I asked my friend Patti Dahlstrom, formerly of Babes For Bush to send me the photo of her and President Bush that was taken at a fundraiser. She writes:

Ours was taken at a fundraiser in March 2004. Anyone who raised $10,000 got to speak with him a minute and take a photo. There were probably 200 in line that one day.

I guess the drape and flags are part of the traveling photo op!

Her photo is posted in the extended entry.

As I said, this looks exactly the same as the Abramoff photo.

exactly why was it that in after 230 years of our history did the white house ALL OF A SUDDEN have a "need" to conceal the visitors list shortly AFTER Abramoff and Scootie were making headlines?

i find the timing a little convenient to say the least.

yes i know the white house has not existed 230 years..but it opens the para well.

does anyone believe that Bush had a "relationship" with all those individual donors?

Does anyone believe Abramoff is just an individual donor? Does anyone not believe that Bush had a relatonship with Abramoff? In the words of Bart Simpson- I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything. That's the motto of this administration.

Posted by: Aztec [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 02:43 PM

I get a Christmas card from him and Laura every year, does that mean I have a personal relationship with him?

Posted by: Porter Jervis [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 03:12 PM

It proves they met, but that is about all. There is plenty of time to determine the special relationship between Abramoff and the administration.

I would say the administration is just a bit concerned since they booted the most qualified Supreme Court candidate Bush could find, Harriet Myers in favor of a political hack type lawyer. Wow were we being made the fools on Harriet Myers. The neocons said she would have be great for the Supreme Court but now they say she is incapable of defending the administration on possible corruption charges.

Posted by: Josh Keaton at January 9, 2007 03:23 PM

Excuse me, but didn't Bush say that he had never met Jack Abramoff? How many times did he not meet him? Now that the list of visitors to the White House has been hidden away forever, how are we to know?

Does it depend on what your definition of "meet" is?

I thought you guys were supposed to be better than that...

Posted by: Cyberactor [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 03:35 PM

Cyber- they are. they are "fair and balanced" remember?

you know- hide the visitors list so that no-one knows anything. Sounds like the admins motto "hey no-one knows anything...just look at me"

i just want 1 guy in here to explain why that list- a part of national herritage is:

1) restricted to public viewing?

2) Why no other presidents in history have concealed this visitors list?

3) Why did this all of a sudden happen when Jack and Scootie were so popular in the media?

i'll give $1.00 to any legit answer(s).

ok I won't but i'll publically walk down my street with no underwear on (under my clothes of course) ;-)

hahaa

BS,

For the same reason that the docs that Sandy Burglar stole aren't being released... they don't want anyone to see them...OK.

It's really not that tough and if I were in GW's shoes, I would do everthing I could to avoid any undue attention..including exposing my House Guest List.

But HOW BOUT that Lincoln Bedroom guest list during the Clinton era...ehhh?

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 04:32 PM

Where's that photo of John Kerry and Jane Fonda attending the same anti-war rally back in the 70's? Does that prove that they had a relationship?

OK, Jane and John are not quite the same thing, just being in the same crowd, but the president has probably had his photo taken with literally more people than he can remember. Abramoff may have been merely one of these people.

Posted by: Bigfoot [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 04:37 PM

Bigfoot:

You mean this picture?

http://z.about.com/d/urbanlegends/1/0/N/8/kerry_fonda1.jpg

It's a photoshop job. They never appeared at a rally together. Nice try, though.

But it's awful big of you to assume that one of Bush's biggest campaign contributors NEVER actually met with the president. Except, of course, he did.

From July 10, 2006:

"Today, the Bush Administration released a new set of records detailing four previously undisclosed White House visits by convicted former GOP superlobbyist Jack Abramoff, including a meeting with President Bush in the White House residence. The documents were sent to the Democratic National Committee [on July 9, 2006]in response to a FOIA request to receive the Worker and Visitor Entrance (WAVE) System records documenting Jack Abramoff’s access to the Bush White House.

The other undisclosed visits [by Abramoff] were with top White House staff including Bush’s personal secretary, a top staffer in the White House’s Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and Vice President Cheney’s domestic policy advisor. Outstanding questions remain about whether or not there are more details about additional White House visits by Abramoff."

Not to mention Abramoff's partners/clients/cronies. Fellas, if I were you, I'd let this one go. Jack knew George. George knew Jack. That's just the way it was. When the President says he never met with Abramoff...he's LYING.

Posted by: Cyberactor [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 04:53 PM

yes i know the white house has not existed 230 years..but it opens the para well.

You wanna know what else opens a paragraph well, BS? Capitalization, that's what. Don't be so lazy when you post. Do you even have a job?

Jack knew George. George knew Jack. That's just the way it was. When the President says he never met with Abramoff...he's LYING.

When you claim you're not a lobotomized parrot...you're LYING.

Posted by: God is Great--Libs I Hate... [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 05:09 PM

Lib hater says: "When you claim you're not a lobotomized parrot...you're LYING."

Way to refute my post, there, big guy! Gee, your facts in opposition to my assertion, why they're just...stunning! You really got me there!

(Psst! To the rest of the B4B posters: This guy isn't the best you've got, is he?)

Posted by: Cyberactor [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 05:12 PM

I had my picture taken with the elder Bush before and I'm sure he does not remember it. He was the commencement speaker for my college graduation ceremony and handed me my diploma. Does this mean I have ties to the White House?

Posted by: Rich at January 9, 2007 05:22 PM

Cyberactor

Don't know, but I can tell you that if you're all the left has, then they're in worse shape than you thought Iraq was in. Mybe you need to cut-n-run back to Daily Hogs or the Huffingtons-o-grunt Post.

Your problem is that you generalize every issue and try to spin each word as if it was the word of God..well it's not, so get over it.

Refute what post? There's nothing substantive in your post other than what we read between each line. It goes something like this.

"Way to refute (I hate Bush) my post, there, big guy (I hate America and Bush)! Gee, your facts in opposition (I hate America and Fox News and Bush)to my assertion, why they're just(I hate America Fox News, Bush and our Military)...stunning! You really got me there (Cause I hate everything about America)!

There, that sounds more like it doesn't it!

So having your picture taken with someone undesirable means you have a relationship? Then explain Jimmy Carter...

Hey look, I just found a photo of FDR, posing at Yalta with Stalin. This is NOT good, Rosy must have been a supporter of one of the most murderous dictators in history...Jeez, our prez had a photo taken with him, for goodness sake!

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 06:10 PM

Great pics CE! Especially the one with Yasure Arafatars.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 06:19 PM

And now I just discovered a pic of Wesley Clark posing with Serbian war-criminal Mladic, and another of Clinton's SOS Albright posing with Kim Jong Il.

My GOD (dont be scared of the religious reference libs, an inquisitor wont visit your house), a DFL presidential hopeful AND a Clinton cabinet member posing with genocidal criminals and dictators!

They must have been supporters, after all, they had pics taken with those murderous men.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 06:23 PM

Hey look at this one with Cindy Sheehan and Hugo Chavez. Ooops I'm sorry that was Cindy's nose and Hugo Chavez....sorry, my mistake.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 06:25 PM

Cyberactor,

The Fonda/Kerry photo may have been a photoshop deal but they were indeed at the same rally. I don't know what difference that makes.

The Libs are going to get their panties in a bunch over this photo but this is nothing compared to the documents that were pilferred by Sandy Berger with the permission of Bill Clinton. This story(that the media is trying desperately to keep quiet) makes Watergate look like
a non-issue.

I feel sorry for many of the liberal posters on this site, the hate with which you type your posts, the hate that you have for our military and the hate for your country will only lead you to an early grave. In the weary world that we live in there is only one place of solace and that's in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. You all try to find comfort in politicians but let me tell you people like Pelosi,Reid, Obama or G.W. Bush are not going to lead you to the promised land. They will not even be able to provide you with the peace of mind that many of you are going to need during the tribulation.

FYI, It's not too late.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything. That's the motto of this administration.

No, Aztec, I think you have them confused with the previous administration. Don't you remember all the times Lanny Davis said "there no pruf". It became so frequent and so humorous that Rush Limbaugh did a parody.

Posted by: Retired Spook [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 06:44 PM

I have a picture of me at the same restaurant as Britney Spears. Thats right - I must be sleeping with her - the picture is proof. We both had bread and wine dammit! How much more do you need?

Of course a video of John Murtha with FBI agents (who he failed to turn in) isn't proof of anything. And bundles of money hidden in a freezer don't mean anything. And not being able to find you law firms billing records fo six years is just a friendly misunderstanding. And calling a lawyer instead of an ambulance when your date is trapped in a car under water is perfectly natural and reasonable.......

Hey!! Where did all the kooks go? None have posted since Cyber.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 07:10 PM

Cyber- I think it was Hericletus that stated exactly what typifies these guys...

"even when shown the way those that are asleep remain asleep."

something like that. But i have a hunch they will also claim the bible says something like that. Plagiarism...isn't it a great thing ;-)

as i said i may be wrong on the quote preciseness, but i am fairly sure it was he who said it. might be wrong though.

Any way the point was that yes you presented facts. And yes they beat around the Bush as usual...get it? Beat around the Bush. How is that for circumnavigating a straght answer in the forum?

Posted by: Bill Stensin [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 07:42 PM

There, that sounds more like it doesn't it!

Well said, navydad. I don't bother with Cyber--he's just another CO-type parrot.

Posted by: God is Great--Libs I Hate... [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 07:43 PM

Hey remember this one?

wow! there is a rally of suport if i ever DIDN't see one!

duuubya

the asinine thing about the administration is the *concealment of ANY TRUTH* until it is so obvious and they have no choice but to admit ALL THE LIES THEY GET CAUGHT IN! WMD's, wire tapping, lying about wiretapping, photos, white house visitors, defense contracts, man this list is just too thick for my tiny lefty brain i better stop before i blow up!

[NOTE from Editor: You might want some background on the editing done of that image.]

Posted by: Bill Stensin [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 07:49 PM

If you really want a picture that speaks, view the photo of Madeline Albright toasting champagne to Kim Jung Il.

Of course, according to the left, it proves nothing.

Posted by: Lew Waters [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 08:11 PM

Rush Limbaugh did a parody.

Well how can I argue with Limbaugh logic. All I really see in defense here is that it's OK because someone else did it first. How many of the people in the other "incriminating" photos denied they were ever in those photos. The difference is lying about it or admitting the truth.

Posted by: Aztec [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 08:24 PM

Aztec, you've got to be kidding?

Comparing Madeline Albright toasting Kim Jong Midget, or Jimmy with Yasure Arafatars to Jack Abramoff an GW is an insult to any one with a third grade education. So this leaves you out Bill....sorry!

Could Jack's dealings have caused a nuclear catastrophe...I think not. Could his dealings effect the crisis in the middle east...I think not.

This is a feeble attempt by the left to right the left's wrongs from the past.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 08:37 PM

Hey BS, as long as we're quoting, I guess I better fire one off that states exactly what typifies the American left:

"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."
-Dwight D. Eisenhower-

Lets hope we're all around to actually have a history before the libs get us all killed.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 09:39 PM

Tis a shame that in this current world of slander, smear, & anything goes to get ahead politically we are seeing age old tradition hiding from the public! Do I blame them? NO! Do I think they are doing the right thing? Yes, with friends such as BS & the actor, who needs enemies! If your looking for a legit answer BS, take a look in the mirror!!!

Posted by: bearmanUSMC [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 10:34 PM

Doesn't ANYBODY beleive me?

OK then. I saw Bigfoot once. Turned out it was Al Gore during his big belly bearded phase.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2007 10:56 PM

Gee I guess that Hillary has a photo of her kissing the terrorist's wife (and symbolically lower anatomy as well)so I supppose we can tie her into many acts of terrorism.

Posted by: DL at January 10, 2007 07:09 AM

how lame. regarding the fake picture released by the w campaign... http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/farid/research/digitaltampering/georgebush1.jpg an edit by one of the hosts refers us to a quote by some *SBulka* that states... "I hope they make a big deal about this since it is so stupid. They edited out a podium and the President. Big deal. They make it sound like they edited everyone"
----
gee- i have only been a photographer for over 30 years. I don't see the repetitive "pattern" of the same soldiers faces over and over and over again. But maybe i need glasses.

Posted by: Bill Stensin [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 10, 2007 10:32 AM

BS...you are correct! For once. But what does this have to do with this post?

Are you trying to say that it's the same as the Dan Slather forged documents and such?

This photo has been doctored with the "clone" process in Photoshop.

But BS is correct, whomever doctored this photo really did a poor job...but I still don't get the connection BS.

Maybe they paid those guys at the NY Times to do it for them.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 10, 2007 11:32 AM

BS
I don't understand why you lefties keep crying about the WMD's. We all know that everybody voted on the issue with the same intelligence. Even Clinton said there were 'definitely still WMD's in Iraq when he left office'. So why don't you quit your crybaby crap and just admit that everyone had incorrect information. Bush didn't 'trick' anyone into voting for this war, and if he was able to do that to all these wonderful dems that now think they have been handed the keys to the kingdom,....well, I guess that doesn't speak too well of their intelligence if they could be 'tricked' so easily. The truth is when the war became unpopular, they wanted to distance themselves from it as far as they could and didn't want to take responsibility for their own actions. Typical! Sound so familiar, it happens all the time lately, if it isn't popular at the moment, it's bad and it's Bush's fault. I haven't seen the dems take a solid stand on anything that wasn't 'anti Bush'.

Posted by: 1moretime [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 10, 2007 01:45 PM

Right - they all call Bush an idiot, but say he tricked THEM. That must make them REALLY stupid.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 10, 2007 02:26 PM

I would think you are right Kahn!
