Open Thread: New Year's Eve

Well, my San Diego Chargers are 14-2, number one seed, first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs....in our world, the fact that the road to the Super Bowl goes through San Diego is proof that (a) there is a God and (b) that this has been one heck of a strange year. There's is one thing I'd like to say to all the rest of you about your teams: San DIego is better, and all the NFC is going to do in the playoffs is figure out whom shall be clobbered by the Chargers in the Super Bowl.

:o)

So, what are your thoughts on the year just past? Any predictions for 2007? What are your hopes and dreams? Discuss literally anything you'd like on this thread - but, as usual, keep it PG-13, ok?

My heart was in my throat watching Tomlinson and Rivers gimp around in the second half. I love Michael Turner, but he is no Tomlinson and the falloff is huge behind Rivers.

As a Charger fan since 1961, this looks like our best chance of winning the big one. Also it was nice to watch Alex Smith and the 49ers put Denver out.

Raider's fan...we're screwed until we get rid of big Al. Even Art can't control this guy.

Obama will go down in flames sometime late fall 2007 when it is finally uncovered that he's Hilary's clone.

Thought Corn would like that!!

Well, since you opened things up . . . I'd sure like to invite all blogers to take a look at the Blogiversary Database. You can add your site to the database and let the blogosphere know when you are celebrating your day.

Well, KC still has a chance. Not much, but atleast one chance, where as the Bronco's flamed out. Now, hopefully the Pack won't do to bad against the Bears tonight.

As for Obama - he may flame out, but that will be because he is too thin skinned about criticism.

Alas, I'm a forlorn 'skins fan. My season ended early this year, but at least I got to enjoy watching some Cowboy losses.

Obama-sama my flame out, but he'll be fannin' those flames with those big ol' ears...

navydad, kjs, Mark, Matt, Freedom1, arcman, Gozer, Spook, bearman, james, calvin, Jeremiah, Scaramonga, Jo, AFWife, and especially you, Almiranta:

To those of you who've been on my side, the right side, of the issues, I wish you all the best for the New Year. And yes, I may have left some of the team off my list, unintentionally, but you all know I thoroughly enjoy our cyber-friendship, and I'm looking forward to more good times here on B4B, or wherever we may end up.

As for you trolls, if the new year brings you prosperity, good on ya. If it doesn't, oh well. I couldn't care less what life brings you kooks, as long as it doesn't adversely affect my life.

Happy New Year!!!

Posted by: Obama-sama has Big Ears of Corn [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 09:34 PM

Right back at ya Corn!

But most of all, let's all say an extra prayer for Almiranta.

2007 will be a history in the making year when/if those funky Raiders finally find an offense..hey anyone see an offense floatin around, you know, the one Oakland hocked up???

At least us leftcoasters have da mighty Churgers!Go bolts!!!!!

Happy New Year all...signing off and going to bed early.

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 10:17 PM

navydad, next year, the 'skins and Raiders in the Super Bowl. Yeah, riiiight.

Happy New Year to ya, dude. And you too, Bigfoot and kimberlyforBush--I keep adding the names as I remember them...

You said it, keefer, I don't think I could have said it any better!

But I'll try to give my thoughts...

I just want to take this time, to say, since I began this blogging journey a few months ago, that it has really been an Honor, to be a part of this board, to be able to communicate with new people, and what a tremendous joy it's been to meet all of you; as keefer says, those of you on the 'Right side' of the issues.

I especially want to send my gratitude to Mark, for standing up for what is right, and for..most importantly.. for extending to others the Good News of Jesus Christ, that really makes me Proud to see that, because if there is ever a place that God needs to be upheld, it is in the political sphere this day and time.

To our political opponents(democrats), I wish you well in this New Year, and can only hope that you will see the light, and jump on board with the rest of us.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Oh Jeremiah I could just give you a great big new years bear hug.

I was talking to any of the *sane* democrats, raker, not you.

Sane DemocRATs, Jeremiah? Bit of an oxymoron, don'cha think?

Posted by: Obama-sama has Big Ears of Corn [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 11:48 PM

OshBEoC,

No worries, I'm no democRAT, for SURE!!!

Is there any sane ones? I don't know, but raker, always has to give us some, homo rant, and I don't take to that particular brand of discourse too well.

Jeremiah

Gentlemen, as you rejoice in the death of Saddam, as you revel in death in the name of freedom, revel and ring in the new year.

Hoop to the high hills. By gosh our glory brigade hit 3000 deaths. Death not in vain mind you, but for the greater glory of freedom. 3000 souls.

Tonight I do not revel. We shall send more of our brave volunteers into the grinder soon. I do not make merry tonight.

May God forgive us all.

Posted by: raker13 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 01:26 AM

Navydad - if it would help, we could send Callahan back to you. I know a lot of Husker fans who would rejoice.

Raker - never a good or positive thought I see. Well, atleast you are consistant.

On a happy note, I saw barney's Christmas extravaganza. Barney is such a cute dog. So is his girlfriend. I thought is was so cute how he pushed the big ornaments around the whitehouse floors. Cute, cute, cute.

Happy, happy, joy, joy.

I pray you people get everything you deserve in the coming year.

Good tidings and cheer.

Posted by: raker13 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 01:42 AM

I don't take to that particular brand of discourse too well.

Not to worry, Jeremiah--his are the harmless rantings of a lonely lunatic. Sits in mommy's basement, reveling in the deaths of brave Americans. He has added absolutely nothing to the discourse here, in however long he's trolled here. He should've been banned months ago, but since he's here, we may as well get some laughs.

KJ

You scared me there for a second! My ex-wife's maiden name is Callahan...whew! Don't do that to me. Good thing you continued the thought about football.

Raker...make yourself 3001...please!

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 09:38 AM

Raker...make yourself 3001...please!

navydad, keep making statements like this, and the kooks are gonna insist that you're "keefer."

Raker can't join--there's that DADT issue...

Posted by: Obama-sama has Big Ears of Corn [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 09:48 AM

Navydad - surely you remember Callahan leading the Raiders to the Superbowl (and losing)? He got sacked the next year, and eventually ended up at Nebraska. Many of us want him gone, and I thought maybe you would want him back.

OshBEoC - Happy New years. Thanks for counting me as being on the right.

Posted by: kjstrouble [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 11:26 AM

No fond memories of Callacrap here. He simply had an "almost" great QB and an awesome offenise line.
Defense was good too. I think they were in top two or three against the run??

But the fact that he moved up when Gruden left is, in my humble opinion, the only reason he's gone anywhere...not due to talent. It's like being appointed to the Presidency without running...no disrespect Pres. Ford...just an analogy:)

What the Raider's need is a Pete Carroll. Man that guy knows how to motivate!!!

Posted by: navydad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 07:52 PM

Navydad - many of us here in Huskernation (aka Nebraska) would just like the fool gone. We don't really care where he goes - just get him and the Athletic Director gone. We could use some one with real talent and ties to the Huskers.
