Leaks Undermining The War On Terror

Today, U.S. intelligence officials told Congress that the leaks of classified formerly-classified projects like the NSA Terrorist Surveillance program have undermined their work.

"The damage has been very severe to our capabilities to carry out our mission," CIA Director Porter Goss told the Senate Intelligence Committee, citing disclosures about a variety of CIA programs that he suggested may have been compromised.

Goss said a federal grand jury should be empaneled to determine "who is leaking this information."

Believe it or not, Senator Jay Rockefeller is pointing the blame back at the Bush administration. How typical for a Democrat who is no stranger to politicizing intelligence matters...

If the Democrats were less interested in making partisan attacks than in preventing terrorist attacks, we'd be a lot safer.

Senator Jay Rockefeller, in my opinion, is the leaker of the NSA program.

He is the first high ranking government official mentioned in the article the NY Times broke about the NSA.

He is the first to publicly express his concerns of the legality of the program, after 18 months of knowing and being briefed on the program by Admin. officials.

He is the first to suddenly reveal a sealed letter to the VP expressing he had concerns about the program, but not once mentioning any concerns to the officials closest to the program.

He was the first to call for accountablility of any wrong doings.

And now he is the first to try and deflect attention from finding the leaker and instead blaming the Bush admin.

I have another prediction and I can almost see it coming. Senator Jay Rockefeller will be the first high ranking government official to "speak" to the author of the originial NSA article by the Times, James Risen about other matters relating to his book but will not be able to remember whether or not the subject of the NSA spying program was ever discussed.

Forgetting politics for a second,
the fact is that American intelligence can't keep a secret, and can't find the traitors.
I conclude the following:
1) Wiretaps or no, this is not the kind of organization I want looking out for me. I don't want a guard at my front door who is tempted to let the robbers in, just to show how bad his security company is.
2) Democrats or no, the Bush government has had 5 years to do a housecleaning. If the agencies are still full of fanatically partisan Democrats, then the government really needs to learn how to clean house.
3) A real intelligence agency wouldn't need a grand jury to find a leak. They would hand the grand jury the evidence - or just fire the slob.

Enough messing around. Just find the guy, Goss. It's your job to root out the secret traitors in our midst, be they Muslims or Democrats.

I too, think Rockefeller has "alot to hide-in that

seem to just sweep stuff under the rug, that has been done against them...kinda like turning the other cheek....THEY SHOULD BE TIRED OF BEING HIT
LIKE SOME "PINATA", OVER AND OVER AND OVER
ON ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THE PRESIDENT SAYS OR DOES, AND BE TIRED OF THE NASTINESS IN WHICH HIS OPPONENTS SEEM TO PUT AMERICANS AT RISK, WHEN "ALL
TOOLS ARE NOT ABLE TO BE USED TO PROTECT US FROM AN ENEMY THAT WANTS TO KILL AMERICANS...ANY AMERICANS, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, INDEPENDENTS, ETC.----The Administration, needs a "full investigation, and punish those, that "spill their

enemies"-----'THESE ANTI-WAR, ANTI-BUSH, ANTI-ANYTHING OF THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION, NEED TO REALIZE.....9/11 didn't discriminate-it killed all
our citizens. The rhetoric of the leftist/liberals-Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Schumer,
Hellery, Kerry-have spent more time opposing the

What sort of bone-head idiot wouldn't think that leaking our methods of detection to our enemies wouldn't hurt the effort to protect America? Imagine if the New York Slimes ran an editorial blabbing all about how we had broken the Japanese Code during WW2! Imagine if they leaked our progress daily on building the Atomic Bomb! How much longer would the war have lasted and at how many more lives?

Liberals just don't get that this is a very serious war and long overdue, in my opinion. War isn't pretty and sometimes, you have to bend a rule or two for survival. Unless, of course, you belong to the hate America at all cost crowd.

Liberals need to wake up and realize we aren't dealing with petty criminals or people open to compromise. Given the chance, as they have demonstrated time and time again, they will kill as many of us they can, man, woman or child and any religion, creed, sexual orientation or race.

Exactly. Only Democrats convieniently forget this point because if they were to acknowledge this simple fact, then logically they know it would be used against them in their jihad to kill another 40 million babies via abortion. The Democrats would rather sabotage America's efforts in the War on Terror/Islam than admit to some cold, hard truths. Dead=no civil rights.

"If you want to prevent terrorism impeach bush and change our foreign policy. Peace." Posted by: steve

Steve, the terrorist apologist, is advocating surrender...again. Steve, Islam gives athiests like you 2 choices: convert to Islam, or die. Make your choice.

"...and change our foreign policy. Peace." Posted by steve.

It wasn't America's foreign policy which lead to this-British Muslims: "Kill Those Who Insult the Prophet Muhammad"-it was 12 cartoons of Muhammad. Where's your "peace" now?

British jihad group Al Ghurabaa: "Kill those who insult the Prophet Muhammad (saw)"

..."Both governments claim that one of their underlying principles is the freedom of speech and that everyone is free to speak their mind and to voice their opinions openly. They claim that the publication of these cartoons is a mere expression of ones opinions falling within the framework of the law.[...]

This should come as no surprise to the Muslims because this is the exact and true nature of the kuffar that Allah (swt) has informed us of in the Quran. The kuffar will never have respect for our deen, they will never honour it and will always seek to ridicule and disparage it. At every opportunity they will try to attack and belittle it whilst concealing the greater hatred they have for it in their hearts. This is also evident throughout the history of Islam where the kuffar carried out similar acts to try and defame Islam. Allah (swt) tells us that; verily, the Kaafireen [disbelievers] are ever unto you your open enemies. [4:101]

At the time of the Messenger Muhammad (saw) there were individuals like these who dishonoured and insulted him upon whom the Islamic judgement was executed. Such people were not tolerated in the past and throughout the history of Islam were dealt with according to the Shariah. Ka’ab ibn Ashraf was assassinated by Muhammad ibn Maslamah for harming the Messenger Muhammad (saw) by his words, Abu Raafi’ was killed by Abu Ateeq as the Messenger ordered in the most evil of ways for swearing at the prophet, Khalid bin Sufyaan was killed by Abdullah bin Anees who cut off his head and brought it to the prophet for harming the Messenger Muhammad (saw) by his insults, Al-Asmaa bintu Marwaan was killed by Umayr bin Adi’ al-Khatmi, a blind man, for writing poetry against the prophet and insulting him in it, Al-Aswad al-Ansi was killed by Fairuz al-Daylami and his family for insulting the Messenger Muhammad (saw) and claiming to be a prophet himself. This is the judgement of Islam upon those who violate, dishonour and insult the Messenger Muhammad (saw).

[...] The insulting of the Messenger Muhammad (saw) is something that the Muslims cannot and will not tolerate and the punishment in Islam for the one who does so is death. This is the sunnah of the prophet and the verdict of Islam upon such people, one that any Muslim is able execute.

This is Islam, folks. A deadly terrorist cult which has the death penalty for insulting Muhammad. See Answering-islam.org (click "m", then "Muhammad") for more on Muhammad's treatment of enemies.

Check out that website for a list of the men and women that Muhammad had murdered. Notice, that many of the names correspond to the names mentioned by the British jihad group Al Ghurabaa.

Hatred and Violence were threatened against the West by Muslim groups all over the world because of the printing of 12 cartoons of Muhammad. Here's a list of today's headlines via littlegreenfootballs.com:

Ansar Al-Islam Leader: "The War Is On"

"Brussels Journal notes a declaration of war against Europe from Mullah Krekar, the Ansar al-Islam leader who was given refugee status in Norway": “The War is On.”(-LGF)

(Brussels Journal): Yesterday (Thursday) Mullah Krekar, the alleged leader of the Islamist group Ansar al-Islam who has been living in Norway as a refugee since 1991, said that the publication of the Muhammad cartoons was a declaration of war. “The war has begun,” he told Norwegian journalists. Mr Krekar said Muslims in Norway are preparing to fight. It does not matter if the governments of Norway and Denmark apologize, the war is on.

Islamist organizations all over the world are issuing threats towards Europeans. The Islamist terrorist group Hizbollah announced that it is preparing suicide attacks in Denmark and Norway. A senior imam in Kuwait, Nazem al-Masbah, said that those who have published cartoons of Muhammad should be murdered. He also threatened all citizens of the countries where the twelve Danish cartoons [see them all here, halfway down the page] have been published with death.

A Peaceful, Tolerant Day of Anger

"Sheikh Yussef al-Qaradawi, best pal of London mayor Ken Livingstone and leading frontman for the global jihad, is calling for a “day of anger:” Day of anger threatened over cartoons of Prophet. You know, a peaceful, tolerant day of anger".(-LGF)

"Day of anger threatened over cartoons of Prophet"
By David Rennie, Europe Correspondent and Tim Butcher in Jerusalem
News.Telegraph (Filed: 03/02/2006)

A leading Islamic cleric called for an "international day of anger" today over publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed, and a Danish activist predicted that deadly violence could break out in Europe "at any minute".

As more European newspapers reprinted the cartoons, what started off as a row between Denmark's press and its Muslim population grew into a full-blown "clash of civilisations".

[...]A leading hard-line Muslim cleric, Sheikh Yussef al-Qaradawi, called for the day of anger to protest against the printing of the cartoons - first published in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in September - in other European papers.

"Let Friday be an international day of anger for God and his prophet," said the sheikh, who is the head of the International Association of Muslim Scholars. He is one of the Arab world's most popular television preachers and made a controversial visit to London in July 2004 as a guest of the mayor, Ken Livingstone.

Ahmed Akkari, a Muslim theologian from Copenhagen, said he had attended a meeting this week with the Danish intelligence service, which called the situation "very, very tense".

(LGF:)Muslims Raging Over Cartoons

"Followers of the Religion of Peace™ are in a blind rage all over the world this morning, after more European papers reprinted the dreaded cartoons of blasphemy"(-LGF): Cartoon blasphemy uproar gathers pace.

"Meanwhile, in the terror state that wants to call itself Palestine, they’re threatening to kidnap foreigners, attack EU offices and churches, and blow up the Danish and Norwegian consulates"-(LGF): Nablus gunmen threaten Europeans.

This is typical of the Democrats to blame (and Monday Morning Quarterback)Bush for all thats gone wrong with the War. Of course Rockefeller probably leaked the article. That is the old play in Washington when support for the anti war movement stagnates. They (the Dems) are really desperate to find any kind of a "hot button" that will divide the U.S for the war. You notice during the State of the Union, the Dems could hardly muster a clap when it came to protecting the country and promoting Democracy thru the world.

Posted by: Scott at February 3, 2006 02:33 AM

In the State of the Union speech, the President said:

And one of the main sources of reaction and opposition is radical Islam -- the perversion by a few of a noble faith into an ideology of terror and death.

Why did he call Islam a "noble faith" if it really isn't? I'm no apologist for Islam; it has none of the historical and archeological data to back up it's claims that Judaism and Christianity do, and it's scripture seems to be a mix of misquoted Old Testament passages with some stuff from the apocryphal 'Infancy Gospels' thrown in. I also believe that if any prophet can be harmed by words alone, then (A) the prophet is very weak and/or (B) the prophet is putting himself equal to God, therefore a false prophet. I personally like some of the medieval Sufi poets; but the question still remains, why did President George W Bush call Islam a "noble faith" if it's not?

Maybe so, but at least we are not any poorer. When the GOP were making partisan attacks in the 1990s, they funded it with 50 million dollars of tax payers' hard-earned money. When will Ken Starr pay it back? America needs that money.

If you want to prevent terrorism impeach bush and change our foreign policy. Peace

Facts are funny things. They have a way of exposing idiocy. Let's see....it wasn't W's foreign policy that lead to: '93 WTC attack, Khobar Towers U.S. Cole and several other attacks. Nor was W the president during the nearly eight years of planning for the 9.11.2001 attacks.

In reality jihadism's war on the West was given birth in Munich in 1972. The first world leader to stand up to it, identify it as a war, and pledge to defeat it is George W. Bush.

I realize in your "black-is-white and up-is-down" world, reality is 180^ opposite of what you see, but the reality is that George W. Bush's foreign policy is about the only thing that stands a chance of preventing terrorism. The question for you is: are you going to get on board and live, or sit there and wait till jihad comes to you?

Georgia,
Research before you post a qoute. Well...you mighta got that from Slippy's website he misqoutes Ben to. Here is the real qoute.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Ben Franklin

Please cite one American citizen who's rights have been violated by the Patriot Act or the NSA terrorist wiretapping. Also, anyone who's rights were violated by the Patriot Act is eligible for $10,000 restitution from the DOJ. How much has the DOJ paid out in the last 4 years? Answer: ZERO

Senators have in the past leaked classified info that got people killed. Georgia, do some research on Senator Leahy and you will see. Don't forget Senator Rockefeller went to the mideast and warned Syria we were going to attack Iraq before the war.

Georgia, if Rockefeller leaked classified info should he resign and be prosecuted?

Posted by: Nebraska Militia [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 3, 2006 10:54 AM

Actually, when one person's rights are violated all of our rights are violated. The whole point of the NSA deal is that nobody knows who has been violated -- there is a name for governments that exercise that kind of power (hint: it starts with "T")

Posted by: Salvelinus at February 3, 2006 11:15 AM

Yeah, it did. Thanks for reminding me, I'm always getting him confused with Helen Chenoweth (the sexual immorality, the support for 'welfare reform' and NAFTA...); now I remember why I disliked him.

Posted by: Robert K Meyer Jr at February 3, 2006 11:59 AM

He should be prosecuted if he leaked the information, but, now that I know about it, I still think that the program should require judicial oversight.

I think it is unfair to criticize all Muslims based on the actions or speech of some. If we applied that technique to Christians one might make the case that all Christians handle snakes, talk in tounges, or refuse to play cards and dance (I know I was once a Baptist).

I'm sure there are verses in the Christian bible that could be lifted to misrepresent their followers. Onward Christian Soldiers comes to mind as a song we all learned in vacation bible school.

"I think it is unfair to criticize all Muslims based on the actions or speech of some." Posted by: DeeCee48

I agree. That's why I don't. I don't spend much time criticizing Muslims, either-except those who are terrorists or supporting terrorism. I criticize Islam, the "religion" (more accurately described as a terrorist death cult).

Why? Because Islam is an evil, violent misogynist death cult bent on world domination created by the false prophet Muhammad who was a child rapist, a rapist of adult women, a murderer, a torturer, a thief, a liar, a conqueror, and a mass murderer. People who defend Islam either don't know anything about Islam or have committed intellectual suicide.

Posted by: Freedom1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 3, 2006 08:15 PM

DC

I don't see any other religions threatening to cut the head off of others.

I don't see other religions actually promoting the killing of those who do not accept their form of religion.

I do not see religious fanatics in other religions routinely killing non-believers in the name of their God or Prophet.

Islam's goal is to convert you or kill you. They even say so, as does their holy book.

This has nothing to do about Bush, Iraw or our foreign policy. These plans of there's date back to the begining of their religion. Nothing has changed.

What is there about that that you don't understand????

"When President Bush called Islam a "noble faith" in the State of the Union speech, was he wrong?" Posted by: Robert K Meyer Jr

Yes.

"I'm not trying to be funny, I just want to know conservatives really believe on the subject." Posted by: Robert K Meyer Jr

This is just my speculation on Bush's motives: Initially, I think this was a reasonable tactical decision by President Bush. Just after 9/11, no one (at least in the West) knew anything about Islam. If Bush had called Islam what it truly is-an evil, violent, misogynistic death cult-the American Left would have called President Bush a Christian Crusader who hated Muslims simply for being Muslims and the rest of America (who didn't know anything about Islam at that time) might have believed the Left's charges. So, calling Islam a violent religion simply would have angered the 1.2 billion Muslims of the world-Muslims that President Bush wanted to bring freedom and democracy to in Afghanistan and then Iraq.

In short, calling Islam a violent religion just after 9/11 would have posed a major tactical problem-ie. like going to war on every front at once.

However, the future cannot be built on a lie. It is a lie that Islam is a "noble faith". Over the last 4 years, many in the West have educated themselves about Islam. It's time for the truth about Islam to be known. Europe is being Islamicized and is becoming Eurabia. Europe faces a looming nightmare demographics problem in which the European population can't even replace itself, while the Muslim birthrate in Europe is exploding. In 30-50 years Muslims will really dominate Europe by sheer numbers.

Iran is about to develop a nuclear bomb.

It's time for the truth about Islam to be revealed by President Bush and by the rest of the world's leaders and media.

Thank you for answering my question honestly, Freedom1, and not childishly throwing insults at me (as if that will impress me!). I can see your point, especially with the recent riots over the cartoons. It does seem illogical, to say the least, to say by one's actions, "I am not violent, and to prove it I will be violent." Thanks again for your attitude of "Come, let us reason together..." (Isaiah 1:18), it is very appreciated.
