Historically, rightwing Socialists do not believe in Peace, only war. The reason is that they do not think that man can be enlightened and that man's perfection is not possible. The religious right thinks it will be trial by actual fire not the fire of the inner mind and soul. Confronting terrorists and despots isn't merely the reaction to personal insults and injuries, there though they are, it is a matter of prudence.
Though there can be parallels between the life of a nation and that of the individual, to apply it here would be an error and misconception about very consequencial actualities: the difference between an individual seeking the right way and a democratic Republic. People trying to attack your country and kill innocents is more than someone "smiting thee on the right cheek."

We are not going to settle things by bombing a village in Pakistan and killing innocent civilians. I assume they would have preffered to live as well.
