Cloture

A filibuster has been prevented. Only 25 Senators voted to sustain the filibuster against Alito's nomination. A final vote will occur tomorrow morning!

KOS is congratulation everyone one their big "win"

What you guys accomplished the last week was amazing -- the outpouring of emails, letters, faxes, and phone calls was unprecedented for the netroots and particularly surprising given how weak our issue groups organized against Alito

all I can say is, keep on "winning"

what is this now? 30 times at bat and struck out 30 times not even as much as a foul tip

Excellent!

Now, somebody really should summon the men in white jackets and have that babbling fool Kennedy carried off to a padded room. All of the sane Democrats should be angry and embarrassed by the behavior or Kennedy, Kerry and their doltish supporters.

Senator Kerry and Senator Kennedy, I hope your constituencies are happy for your bitter fight right down to the end against Judge Alito. With only twenty-five votes to continue debate, I’m proud to see that three quarters of the Senate heard from their constituencies too, and they’re ready for an up or down vote on Judge Alito.

After nearly three months, 18 hours of testimony, spouses crying, learning all about Princeton (no I didn’t go there), Judge Alito should hopefully get 57 plus votes tomorrow and be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

I am excited for the coming years to have Judge Alito and Judge Roberts sitting on the Court. I believe they will be brilliant minds, keeping the country on the path our founding fathers began.

It's good to see that the will of the American people (who support Judge Alito 2 to 1) will be fulfilled tomorrow. Way to go Senators!

YES!

I was right! Maybe I'm getting better at this punditry. ;)

Ted aka "the murderer" Kennedy nailed! by a Democrat

Posted by: Paul at January 30, 2006 10:38 PM

What did the dems accomplish by this failed filibuster. All they accomplished was embarrasing themselves in front of the whole country and they made themselves look even more extreme. The dems have the moveon.org vote locked up, but they just alienated the little bit left of the country that wasn't sure if they were just suffering from temporary insanity or whether it was a permanent condition.

James

What they accomplished was to endear themselves to the hard core left ding bats of Kos, which just goes to show how extreme left wing Jonh Kerry is.

The best thing that may happen is that the Dems will spinter...
one side led by the Kos faction the other side led by Democrats who still have a measure of commonsense.

Whilst it would be a huge loss to America, it would be a huge gain to the GOP.

If you want to see a bunch of delusional kooks slip into the pit at Kos. They are in a panic over the inablity of the Swift boat hero and the drunk to pull off a filibuster of Alito.

Those moonbats are deranged.

They are ready to split off and start a new party with Howie "Screamin" Dean as their leader. I wish em' the best of luck.

A Third Party? Genius. At least, like the Hammas victory in PLO elections, this new, presumably leftwing (but not Commie!) party will not sugarcoat and prevaricate in their agenda as Our Democrats are wont (more likely, perforce) to do. The symbology would have to be something other than the Hammer and Sickle though. Already the kiddies would query "What's a sickle?" and soon enough, "What's a hammer?" Man, these "Progressives"! Always looking forward!
