Interesting:
Fox News Channel might air two episodes of a "Daily Show"-like program with a decidedly nonliberal bent on Saturday nights in late January, with the possibility that it could become a weekly show for the channel.
The half-hour show is executive produced by "24's" Joel Surnow and Manny Cota and creator Ned Rice, who previously wrote for "Politically Incorrect" and "Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" through This Just In Prods. It would take aim at what Surnow calls "the sacred cows of the left" that don't get made as much fun of by other comedy shows.
"It's a satirical news format that would play more to the Fox News audience than the Michael Moore channel," Surnow said. "It would tip more right as 'The Daily Show' tips left."
I've been wondering how long it would be before we got something like this - and it will be a success and open up the floodgates for conservative-pitched popular entertainment. The market is definitely there and all it takes is a bit of network courage - you see, when you make fun of conservatives, you just get offended conservatives...when you make fun of liberals, you get leftwing rabble-rousers outside your office chanting for censorship. The headache factor is much heavier when you skewer the left. Still, it would be a money-maker, and once you got past the first flash of "how dare you" from the left, I think that the whole issue would fade...especially as conservative entertainment shows started to make fun of alleged liberals who want to stop people from saying things.
It isn't just on a "Daily Show" sort of format that this would work - the whole spectrum of televised entertainment is open to conservatism, if anyone just takes the time to do it. Imagine a legal show where a hard-charging defense attorney takes on political correctness. A light hearted sitcom which has a conservative editor brought in to salvage a dying liberal newspaper. A family drama detailing the trials and tribulations of a family of believers in modern America (and, Hollywood, consider all these ideas copywrite as of this moment).
Let the fun begin - let conservative and liberal television compete, and see who winds up with the larger market share.

Apparently you never watched the Daily Show during the Clinton years....
This Fox program is really pretty old news; it's been rumored since at least early this year. It's test will be if it's actually funny... supposedly the pilot was god awful.

We'll see. The model for talk radio certainly was not entertaining, nor informative, for the lefties. The same is true for their stranglehold on television media. You tell me why Olberfrick is still on with only his mother watching? Fox's other programming is getting a bit stale but still kicks lib bias butt and the lying butts at CNN every day. I think a slow paced (less graphical) presentation of why liberalism is funny and not a realistic agenda for most people, would be a hit. Just look at the libs on here...I bust out laughing each time I read their thoughtless, gutless, unpatriotic spew. And then I remember. For libs it doesn't pay to be stOOpid unless they can prove it!!

i'm certain this will go over well with fox's aging, geriatric audience. this is DOA - but should make for a few laughs on the way at fox's expense.

The Daily Show has already secured the *educated* amd *intelligent* segments of the television audience.
Another Daily Show type program appealing to conservatives will probably not have much appeal

When you feel threatened by a satirical comedy program, it's time to turn the TV off, go take a walk, relax and spend more time with the family.
Paranoia WILL Destroy ya.

My vote is for the comedy team of Hannity and Limbaugh as host. Coulter also has the experience needed for a made up news show.
Doesn't Fox already have the "The Family Guy" and the "Simpson" to bring out the best in family values. Rather than start from scratch wouldn't it be better to just have Bart Simpson wear a blue Monica dress each week.

What a funny premise. Has about as much of a chance of becoming popular as this website. The right wing has no inherent sense of humor, satire is lost on them, takes too much perspective. Hatred and mockery, yes, satire... well, now that's funny.

Fox's O'Reilly makes me laugh almost every day. He would be a great addition to the show. Just read following little nugget and you will agree he has some great comdey potential.
caught this gem from the Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:
I don't own an iPod. I would never wear an iPod... If this is your primary focus in life - the machines... it's going to have a staggeringly negative effect, all of this, for America... did you ever talk to these computer geeks? I mean, can you carry on a conversation with them? ...I really fear for the United States because, believe me, the jihadists? They're not playing the video games. They're killing real people over there.
Republicans have the entire Fox news channel devoted to faux news. Wouldn't another neocon fake news show simply dilute the market

As usual, every kook komment is submitted with blinders on. Greta, Geraldo, and Shep are hardly right-wingers, yet the idiot trolls step in it anyway.
Hey, posts by DAV and minnowhead in the same thread. From the same bed to the same thread. Any of you other kooks ever checked out those two's blogs? They come here, make a stupid comment or two, then scurry on back to their respective lame blogs for a lovefest with one another. I hear they're going to Massachussetts this Thanksgiving, for a wedding--their own.
Congrats, DAV and minnowhead; coming out wasn't so bad, was it?
God Bless you all--you too, rushfan385@aol.com!!!

Wow, the Usual Suspects are out tonight, aren't they? Full moon?
I note that they constantly whine on and on and on about Fox News being so totally right-wing, but when I watch I keep seeing Lib after Lib being given plenty of air time to prate on and on. So evidently what chaps the axis of the Libs is the fact that sometimes there is a conservative point of view presented, or at least an effort is made to present it over the interruptions and efforts to block even an effort at balanced discussion. As a conservative, I notice that way too often a commentator will just drop in a Lib talking point and then move on, without addressing its validity (or lack of same).
But the very idea of a show which is not determinedly blatantly fawningly pro-Lib seems to have a bunch of lace panties in a twist. Why? You guys can stick to your shows, and share the amazement at the discovery that Hezbollah hates Jews. Don't worry about our hour a week, or so.
