ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

November 13, 2006
Democrat Plan: 1. Run Against Corruption 2. Reward a Crook

We've decided to start putting the stories about the incoming Democratic majority under our old "loser watch" catagory - because Nancy Pelosi seems bent on wrecking her own victory as swiftly as possible. Along with backing Murtha over Hoyer for Majority Leader (as Leo notes below), the media and blogosphere is also abuzz with the story that Pelosi is also set to pass over the wonderfully qualified Jane Harman (D-CA) in favor of Alcee Hastings (D-FL) for the vitally important Intelligence Committee.

There is something binding the two decisions - both Murtha and Hastings have rather large ethical problems, though in the case of Hastings, "ethical problems" doesn't really cover it. Hastings, you see, is a criminal.

As noted in our upcoming book, Caucus of Corruption (with some details available at No Agenda), back in 1989, in a completely Democrat-controlled House and Senate, Hastings was impeached and covicted of taking a $150,000 bribe. Hastings, who was a federal judge at the time, became only the sixth such judge to be removed by the Senate in all of American history. Now, Hastings Florida constituents don't seem to care about this, and there is nothing the rest of America can do about that - if they want a crook to represent them, then a crook shall represent them (just as in the case of Studds, Democrats in Massachusetts decided they wanted a child molester to represent them for, oh, more than a decade after he was caught and censured by the House). But Pelosi has no business inflicted a creep like Hastings upon the whole of the United States - especially on the Intelligence Committee during war time.

My bet is that this move by Pelosi is a sop to the Congressional Black Causcus (Hastings is African-American) - since Pelosi had to throw William Jefferson under the bus a few months ago in order to salvage the Democrats absurd (and yet ultimately successful) campaign against corruption, the price for continued CBC support for Speaker Pelosi seems to have been named: Hastings to Chair Intelligence (the price for removing one crook is to reward another - yeah, there's fresh breeze blowing through Congress...unfortunately, its blowing out of the sewer).

Murtha, of course, was tied up in the ABSCAM scandal, avoiding prosecution by means of agreeing to testify against others...and, of course, he has a series of questionable defense appropriations to his credit.

We're in for a rather interesting two years, don't you think?

Be of good cheer: there is still hope that the likes of Pelosi, Murtha, etc. carry the seeds of their own destruction. After all, their diatribes against the Republicans' "culture of corruption" betrayed the contempt that professional crooks would display towards rank amateurs. All that is needed is the vigilance and will to keep after them until we regain our rightful place.

Wow! Please provide a link, since I can't find ANY STATEMENT from Speaker Pelosi that she's made such a nomination.

BTW, if Murtha's ABSCAM role is big, surely you would admit that Gates' (new Defense Sec nominee) role in Iran-Contra and, also, in FUNDING Bin Laden is HUGE!

Please vociferously come out against Gates so that we can KNOW that you are not being blindly partisan ('carrying the water' as Rush calls it, in other words lying)!

After being out of power for 12 years you would think that the Democrats would have taken the time to come up with some innovative ideas. Apparently they have spent the time dreaming of yesteryear.

HILLARY: 'Health care is coming back... It may be a bad dream for some'...

It is unfortunate you do not have the ability to determine how your tax dollars will be spent. That would clear up wastefull spending.

Coulter,

Don't have confirmation on Hastings, but there is confirmation that Harman - qualified and even though a strong liberal respected on both sides of the aisle - is not going to Chair...Lets have Pelosi issue a denial. It is a betrayal of the American people to even think of putting a crook like Hastings on the Intelligence committee, let alone to consider having him Chair it.

Face it, Coulter, you've bought a botched set of goods here in your Democratic leadership...they are dirty as all get-out, and the book will prove it conclusively.

It would be great if the traditional Republicans turned off the hate of Limbaugh and Hannity for just a few weeks and listen to the country. The President has. He knows the hole he has gotten this country in. He is looking for any crutch he can find to save face in Iraq and his place in history. It is so sad that he has turned to his dad to get him out of the miss he got into. But this time dad is not helping him out with a failed baseball team. This time lives are on the line.

America will be blessed once Murtha is majority leader. He will not be afraid to tell Bush what needs to be done. In addition all veterns will get the support they need both in Iraq and when they come home. No Congressman has done more for veterans benefits than Murtha. Republicans may whine about the cost of taking care of our veterans when they come home, but they deserve every dime they get.

It seems that even the Soros backed CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) have condemned Pelosi's support of Murtha, calling him one of the most corrupt congressmen in Washington.

I'm impressed with their stance, which clearly shows that they are not as one sided as I previously believed.

This is a good thing. Let's hope it continues.

Ney, Duke, Foley, Hastert, DeLay, Taft, Count Chocola, shall I go on?

If Mark was credible in the least, he would write a book that dealt with Congressional corruption that dealt with that of his own party in addition to Reid's land deals and Jefferson's freezer cash.

But he has yet to admit wrongdoing on the part of the GOP. Therefore, he has no credibility. He's just a partisan hatemonger.

Isnt it a surprise to see the demolibs act exactly as we thought they would?

Hold on to you wallets folks, the dems are back in town and they got 12 years at the back of the trough to make up for.

Do you have any criticism of these people? Or are you going to suck up to DeLay so he can help shill your book to the exterminator community?

There will be plenty of 'surprises' with the new gang in town. Get ready, it's going to be a bumpy
ride for sure. With payback to Murtha for helping
Pelosi, she is pushing his agenda even though he is listed on Soros-Most Criminally Deficient-
But other footnotes on "Saint Pelosi" for those of
you who may have forgotten:

l. Pelosi voted three times to make a convicted page sexual preditor, former Congressman Gerry Studds(D-Ma) chairman of a congressional committee

2. In 1990 Pelosi voted against censuring Barney
Frank for having a live in boyfriend running a prostitution ring from Frank's apartment he shared with his boylove. Pelosi also shares parade rights with NAMBLA, more of her S.F. Leftie
attitudes I suppose.

3. Pelosi raised No Objections when Bill Clinton
pardoned Dem-Congressman, Mel Reynolds(Ill.) who had been 'Convicted of Felonies' for having sex with a 16 year old campaign worker. (though Foley
the perv. is out, for emailing a page?)

The historic Pelosi is an authentic representative
of San Francisco liberal values and hardly has a
record to lecture 'Anyone Else On Cleaning Up The
Congress'.

Guess she also forgot about the Reid land deal that got swept under the carpet(that the GOP, should have jumped all over, but didn't)

and lastly but not least, the Jeffers? deal, where
he hid the bribes in his freezer-guess she gives her corrupt party the pass they always seem to need. Here again, the GOP, DID NOT jump on this
opportunity either as they didn't the Reid scandle
too bad, though, because the Dems would have jumped on it like white on rice. They always do...it's how they degrade, smear and lie their way into public office. It will only be a matter of time, before the general public realizes WHAT
THEY'VE DONE BY VOTING THESE CRIMINALS INTO OFFICE. TAXES WILL BE THE FIRST THING COMING-GET READY...
land deal, that got swept

Jo,

There's far more than that on Pelosi...but you'll have to wait until Caucus of Corruption comes out to see all the details.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 14, 2006 02:39 AM

Mark,

I just touched on a couple things-believe me, I know there is lots, lots more, and I do look forward to the book coming out. It should be a good read and I'm sure will make people sit up and notice. Too bad, it wasn't out "before the elections"--
