Do you know if these folks had a chance to leave the green zone to visit and pay their respects to Iraqi families who have lost loved ones in this fight for freedom?
Posted by: Canadian Observer at November 4, 2006 09:54 AM
As I've said before, Cindy Sheehan can say anything she wants. What the MSM needs to realize is that she speaks only for herself.
Posted by: Bigfoot at November 4, 2006 09:55 AM
Observer, didn't see your comment before my first one was posted. Oh well, that's the internet for you.
Maybe that delegation could also paying some respects to the families of the hundreds of thousands of people killed by Saddam's regime. On second thought, my idea might not be practical. They'd all die of old age before getting to see all those families.
Posted by: Bigfoot at November 4, 2006 10:01 AM
Haysoos marimba, why do liberals ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS crap on people who just want to show a little respect for their country or their soldiers?
No, observer, the families didnt work the Iraqi streets and gladhand everyone they met, that wasnt their mission or their intent. All they wanted to do was meet with the troops that their sons served with and show them the respect that seems to be lacking from the American left and the MSM.
Is that ok or do you want to post another smarmy statement bemoaning that these families arent doing enough to satisfy YOU?
Let me ask you this, did you even know where Iraq was before 2003, how many times did you visit Iraq to show solidarity with the people you profess to be so concerned about? Never? Not even once? WHHAAAAATTT? Dont you care about them?

Well, yes, I did know where Iraq was before 2003. I received my education in Canada, not the U.S. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to visit Iraq during the tyrannical rule of Saddam, nor later, during the shock & awe invasion by American led forces nor today under the occupation.
If the opportunity arises, however, such as it did for the Gold Star families, I would welcome the privilege to show my solidarity with Iraqi citizens who have suffered & continue to suffer through no fault of their own.

Like any other free person can do, book yourself a flight to Jordan, hop in a leased car (local driver optional) and head into Iraq to show your solidarity with the downtrodden Iraqi people. Plenty of other folks have already done so, both before and after the downfall of Hussein.
You still here? The suffering wont wait, you better hurry! Hurry, man, HURRY! Dont you care about the Iraqi people?

You know CO, screw you, you useless moron! Tis amazing how you pacifist ignoramouses have NO CLUE what "paying your respects" really is.
OK, wmd B.S. aside CO, what the hell do you think the MAJORITY(not all), felt the day we marched into Baghdad and toppled the Saddaam statue? Oh yah, that's right, you probably don't believe it ever happened! Well, IT DID, and they did kiss our men and women, and they did shower us with flowers, and they did give us there children to protect!!! Yes, all those things did happen! Then we began to search for Mass graves & route out the frickin terrorists. Up to date, thousands of Iraqi's & Americans have lost there lives FIGHTING THE ENEMY! They pay their respects every day, when they put on a uniform and pick up a weapon or when they put on their civilian clothes and go to school, work, etc. Meanwhile all the "supposed do-gooders" in this world want to critisize, and make their(American soldier/Iraqi civilians)jobs all the harder.

Bearman, I was gonna be sarcastic and tease you, but this isn't the right post to do so. I can see you're not in the mood for a little ribbing.
"You libs really don't give a sh..! "
We do Bearman, there is just a differnce of method as to what "giving a Sh.." means. You should take me up on that beer sometime. Don't worry about CO.
Many people have given their lives in this conflict. Whether we were meant to be there in Iraq is besides the point right now(Though it can be easy to point fingers), what matters is how we move from here. There is a fundamental differenc of opinion as to whether moving on means keeping our troops as basicly on the beat cops in Baghdad, open to snipers and IEDs, or we can strategically redeploy and allow the Iraqis to clean up their own mess, while we offer air support and surgical strikes when needed.
Yeah I know they'll say cut and run. Rethinking our strategy is not cutting and running, it is the mark of an efficient military to redeploy and consider other options when the current situation is not working. Stay the course is not a strategy, it's a campaign slogan.
I know this is hard man, but realize we can chose to honor our fallen, by insisting their brothers stay out in the open with no real plan, or we can honor them by planning new strategies which may result in far fewer casulties and quicker victory.
It's time to drive this metaphorical nail with a different type of hammer.

No one disputes the fact that Saddam was a murdering SOB and the people of Iraq suffered greatly under his despotic rule. He was in power doing his evil deeds well before 9/11. (Rumsfeld shook his dirty hand for everyone to see). So you'll agree there was some support by the U.S. for this murderous psycho.
When Bush & Co. decided to forget about pursuing Bin Laden and set sights on Iraq, that's when it all fell apart. Like you say, it was the belief that after the shock & awe mission was over, the U.S. would be greeted as liberators, and that might have happened for a short while, but when after all this time, after all the death & destruction, the country is no better or perhaps worse off than it was under Saddam and with the threat of it being even more dangerous if the U.S. withdraws, well, doesn't it make you question Bush's decision to abandon the hunt for the real terrorists behind 9/11?
With the expertise of the U.S. armed forces, couln't Saddam have been taken out without the sacrifice of so many innocent Iraqi citizens? After all, you have the best military in the world.

I say off the board...be gone troll.
Posted by: dickdee at November 4, 2006 07:20 PM
Bearman + LtB, I'll preface this by saying that you obviously have never conjured up an independent thought in your life so this is a pointless discussion. I wonder though, is it a requirement that you be an authoritarian warhawk with a blind faith in our government to love America? You want to bring freedom to Iraq while spouting the rhetoric of Bush and completely trampling the ideas of anyone who disagrees with you, typical of a Fascist. That's not freedom. Bearman said earlier that "this is war and war is ugly" I agree, but it's more like "this is war and war is ENDLESS" under the regimes of those you support.
You guys should just rename this website Blogs for Fascism and stop hiding behind the veil of being moral crusaders out to save the world, one nation at a time.
The "libs" are the problem right? Yet as soon as a "lib" gets elected president, you'll have all kinds of questions and criticisms for him/her. To use some of your tired neo-con terms, that will make you Un-American, unpatriotic and the enemy of freedom. But I suppose to you the freedom of Iraqis is more important than our own. I care about our troops, I know people there, and I don't want them to die by the thousands for no god damn reason. And if the armed forces so tirelessly support this holy war, why are they asking for Rumsfeld's resignation? And that came straight from Fix News, so don't give me any bull about a liberal media bias.
I browse this site occasionally because it so closely resembles a train wreck, but I sincerely hope now that no more sensable people do so, and allow all you Ann Coulters of the world to sit around and agree with each other about the evil of everyone who is not a right-wing Neo-Conservative Fascist. I'm sure you will all enjoy that.

Ok, now you hurt my feelings, John. And to think my days revolve around gaining your trust, love and approval. Im crushed. No really, I am.
Lets see here, how many of the lib slurs did I manage to collect from you: fascist, neo-con and right wing Neo Conservative Fascist (my personal favorite). Three...I must say Im disappointed since you left out "Warmonger", "Rovian stooge", "Bush lapdog" and "Bible thumper".
You did however manage to work "FixNews", "Holy war" and "Ann Coulter" into your screed so big props to you, the liberal girls will certainly view you as a man of action. Good on ya.
Now that Ive given you time to recover from your adolescent hyperventilating, would you care to answer a question about the media bias you referenced? Why is is that liberals can only mention Fox News when claiming there is no MSM bias? I hear Fox News relentlessly, as if this single outlet is glaring proof that the hundreds of other media outfits dont have a bias toward the left. Who else besides Fox News can you mention? Why is Fox News the only outlet EVER mentioned by liberals?

For any poster here, who thinks they can 'sit down
to talk peace with the radicals that want to kill
you(no matter WHAT your party affiliation is) then
you NEED to watch the Fox special that appeared last night, and again Sun.@6:00 and 8:00pm. THIS,
should be scarey for anyone who doesn't think the
Radical nuts want to kill anyone who doesn't believe just as they do-
Forget your party, Watch this special, and THEN,
tell me, if you want to try to appease these people-
By the way Canadian Observer-YOU TOO, in your country that have so many immigrants from around the world, are just on the cusp of an uprising, so
I hope that you will be as understanding when thousands of your people are killed, since you have so damn much to say in putting America down.
It has already started in your country, and you should possibly be paying more attention to that, instead of coming to this site daily, bashing the U.S. You, can join France in trying to appease these people who want to KILL, anyone not just like themselves. So do Yourself a Favor Tonight,
Watch that Fox Special, and come here Monday, to tell me, if you STILL want to bash US. Your turn
in Canada is coming, and you don't have an army that will matter at all in saving your citizenry.
Will you look to the South then?

I don't think anyone with any compassion doesn't not care when coallition troops are killed but we have to remember the thousands of Iraqis dying as well. There lifes are no less important than those of the troops all life is equal isn't it?
I ma not going to bother arguing about the rights and wrongs of invading Iraq, the coallition now just has to knuckle down and try and improve things in Iraq. The only wayy to defeat the insurgents is to win the hearts and minds of ordinary civillians. Ironically we need to learn from Hizbollah, after the destruction of Lebanon they are helping to rebuild it and by doing so they are winning support from normally moderate people. Its not going to be easy but we clearly aren't winning by military might. Its going to be tough to turn this around but maybe we can get the people onside and they will help beat the insurgency after all they have the power to cut off food and shelter and most importantly support thus leaving the insurgents reliant on outside help, hopefully making it easier for the coallition to restore some kind of order.

Its all a matter of understanding the libs, bearman. They care, they really really really do, but they care from over here. They libs show solidarity and support for the downtrodden masses, and in between they sip vanilla lattes and page through Chomsky's latest book.
Of course they didnt realize that Afghani women werent even able to read, but its hard for a person to attend an anti-everything rally AND actively work to free the oppressed.
Who has liberated and rescued more people in our history, the soldiers or the self-professed solidarists? I know how the libs would answer.
Hey Canuck...someone should really make you pound sand. Civility is lost in the discussion with any liberal....free speech is free, but why must the rest of us put up with complete insanity. Kick this slime off the board. Besides if he's in Canada he's still waiting for his psychiatric appointment...the wonders of socialized medicine. He sure is a prime example. I say off the board...be gone troll.
Bearman + LtB, I'll preface this by saying that you obviously have never conjured up an independent thought in your life so this is a pointless discussion.
If it's a pointless discussion, then quit flapping your gums mister free thinker(free of intelligence that is)!

Fortunately lots of men & women visit this site bonehead! As a matter of fact I think I'll take some time to shout out to my brothers in the USMC!
Wether your on the wall or in the hole guys, your in my prayers and thoughts.
John, your a doper and it wouldn't hurt our feelings if you were to get lost! But if you'd like to stick, that's O.K. also. It's just one more airhead for us to kick around.

Bongos, we do know how the libs would answer.......but we also know how full of ..it they are too!
Hey John Genovese, you call yourself sane, yet your website is downingstreememo.org? And your post--riddled with misspellings--is no more than a bunch of talking points. Yeah, you're "sensable," riiiight. Lay off the 'shrooms, kook.
CO, the only place I'd accompany you to is your hanging or beheading. Go have another shot of Horse...
