Should the House and Senate go Democrat responsibility would rest with both Bush and AM dial hate speech. Bush for not bringing in a single Democrat, Green Party or Libertarian into his inner circle for a different view. AM dial for filling the nation with the belief if the idea is not Republican it is wrong for America. This hate speech, like that going after M. Fox, does not produce a debate of ideas, it merely brings a counter response.

You have to wonder what happened to this nation after 911. We were one! Now we are as divided as our ancestors in 1860. Only a poor leader and propaganda could allow this divide to occur in our nation in such a short time.

House of cards

People finally see
The pain and misery
GOP, DOA
Nothin' else to say

Vote
take it back
Save the USA

Yeah thats it, America was one! Why, I remember the Vietnam days fondly; troops being spit on, flags being burned, anti-war riots, future dem senators denigrating the troops, black republicans castigated as race traitors. America was one!

And Bush caused all that, yessir, he managed to commit the 911 attacks AND force the libs to go into foot-stomping hysterics over EVERYTHING. Of course the libs had nothing to do with it, which means they are either stupid or culpable, your choice.

BTW, in my area, conservative radio is FM, hate to break it to ya. Liberal radio is found on...er...uh...where is lib radio found these days?

If you enjoy life, vote republican.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THESE TERRORISTS WANT TO DO TO AMERICANS YOU "MUST" SEE THE FOX SPECIAL,
"OBSESSION-RADICAL ISLAM" THAT IS ON SAT. & SUN.

THIS WILL LET YOU SEE IF YOU CAN 'SIT DOWN AND TALK PEACE WITH THESE PEOPLE AS THE DEMS SUGGEST'

Posted by: Jo at November 4, 2006 08:42 PM

Matt, I salute you sir. I most surely will be out in force on Tuesday to get the erectorate to stand up for the GOP.

I plan on holding up a large sign at the polls which will state the facts "Vote GOP: Let's invade Iran" I'll also have my confederate memorabilia on, and will be sure to tackle anyone going into the polls who looks like they might not vote the way I want em to.

Vote GOP or we're all gonna die!!!

Posted by: HugeWangUSAF [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 4, 2006 09:51 PM

If, after all is said and done, the majority of Americans once again vote Republican, your country will have lost all credibility in the eyes of the international community.

Hopefully though, U.S. voters are now fully awake and will use their vote to bring back some sort of sanity to a great nation who has, for a time, lost its way.

Posted by: Canadian Observer [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 4, 2006 10:20 PM

And that of course is what Americans really care about; forget national security or immigration or social welfare programs....as long as we are LIKED then all is well. We must care what North Korea and Venezuala and Cuba think of us, yes, that concern must be paramount!

Ill believe the United States has lost all credibility when:

1) The world stops begging to the U.S. everytime there is a natural disaster somewhere. You want food, water and medical assistance, call France. Im tired of my tax money having to clean up some craphole somewhere that was demolished because the houses were made of mud.

2) The world stops demanding that the U.S. intercede in every brushfire war and genocide in the world. You need an intermediary or peacekeeping force, call Canada. Im tired of American soldiers having to separate antagonists because other, closer nations dont have the ability or the balls to do it themselves.

3) The U.N. starts apportioning its dues equally. Why is it that the U.S. pays 20% of U.N. bills when there are 200+ member nations? Why should America support a conglomerate that gives equal status to dictators and thugocracies?

One more thing, when the United States starts getting critiqued by leftist Canadians, you know we are doing something right. Talk about a country going downhill since WWII, look no further than Canada. Your troops once stormed ashore at Juno beach and Dieppe, now you can barely field a division and the Trudeau crowd has turned the country into a failing socialist disaster.

No offense CO, but clean your own house first before pointing out our dirty floors, your country isnt exactly leading the way these days.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 01:02 AM

Don't worry, CO. We liked the Republican "Contract with America". We don't like the Republican "Contract with K Street". They are done.

The Repubs will no doubt be back with true conservative government, and they will win elections again.

But not for a while.

I plan on holding up a large sign at the polls which will state the facts "Vote GOP: Let's invade Iran" I'll also have my confederate memorabilia on, and will be sure to tackle anyone going into the polls who looks like they might not vote the way I want em to.

Ill be with ya my man, standing shoulder to shoulder with you at the door, though my appearance will be a bit different.

I plan on holding up a large sign at the polls which will state the facts, "Vote DFL: Score one for Hezbollah". Ill also be wearing a rainbow-colored outfit and sporting a large NAMBLA button, across my back will be a full-color banner with a photo of a partial birth abortion and the words, "Its just a lump of tissue".

Ill be sure to assault anyone going to the polls who looks like they may not vote the way I want them too, especially the race-traitor, lawn jockey blacks who are stupid enough to be leaning towards the GOP.

Vote DFL or the Christian taliban will take over!

This hate speech, like that going after M. Fox, does not produce a debate of ideas, it merely brings a counter response.

Just who was it that went after M. Fox-Sheehan, you insignificant moron? Nobody did--your DBM made that up too, Josie.

Hey, DAV, how are you, son? That thing you got going with minnowhead working out well?

Posted by: 1H8L1BS [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 01:36 AM

Heres a thought to tick off the dems and vote at the same time. Call your local Demacratic headquarters which offer free rides to the polls and get a ride. We can all get a ride which fills their buses & cars leaving less room for them. Hey, most of them have been taking a free ride on the rest of the country for a long time. Is'nt it our turn? Start dailing your local dem centers and spread the word!!!

Posted by: Lose the Bongos at November 5, 2006 01:02 AM

So, if I read you correctly, you base the success of a country upon its military capabilities. As long as that country is able to send invading troops to a foreign soil, legitimately, or in this case, not; you feel that this would somehow make that country greater than one which serves the needs of its citizens.

Please, LTB, look to history if you want to find out what happened to those who based their worth on its military might without regard to the welfare of their countrymen.

I am proud to call myself a Canadian and make no apologies, whatsoever, for the principles we embrace.

Posted by: Canadian Observer [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 10:20 AM

No, you didnt read me correctly, again, so much for the Canadian educational system.

If a democratic nation cant legitimately work on behalf of other free nations or those which yearn to be free, then it lives in its own self-possessed bubble; "we're free, you are on your own, sorry". Thats the european approach which watched and did nothing while Serbia was busy ethnically-cleansing its provinces. It took American military might, coming from the other side of the world, to stop the slaughter.

American military power keeps more wars from occurring than you can count with a calculator. Ask yourself what the fate would be of nations such as Taiwan, South Korea and Israel were the American military not a force to be reckoned with.

Please, CO, look at history yourself and realize that Dieppe and Juno were part of operations to liberate a conquered nation, not to invade with hostile intent. A nation once able to field enough force to be noticed is now a footnote, and force counts whether you like it or not. The tyrants of Iran and North Korea arent kept in check by flowery U.N. declarations, they are kept in check by fear.

America serves not only its citizens but the world as well. When the tsunami hit Indonesia, it was American ships and helicopters which were first on the scene, a full three weeks before the U.N. managed to show up.

America supposedly loses credibility when we dont do what the world wants, yet the world ALWAYS turns to us to solve its problems. "We dont like you but can you please come and save us?" Nice to be appreciated....I guess. Credibility goes out the window when you need money to rebuild your stricken country.

So go ahead and be proud to be Canadian, personally I like Canada and have visited often as I live in Minnesota, but take a look in the mirror before deciding that America has somehow lost its way. If you feel nice and secure inside your borders while the rest of the world is falling apart, can you sleep well at night?

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 11:39 AM

Although you raise some valid points, I would still ask why you feel it is right for the U.S. to 'help' a nation by a shock & awe bombing mission and subsequent occupation in which those whom are being 'helped' are killed or injured?

Re your tsunami boast:

Update: The New York Times also blasts Bush, noting he has "finally roused himself from his vacation" to call the leaders of the affected countries. The Times criticizes Bush for trying to distance himself from the measly $15 million offer, says U.N. relief aid chief Jan Egeland was right on target in calling the U.S. stingy and that Colin Powell should be embarassed:

Mr. Egeland was right on target. We hope Secretary of State Colin Powell was privately embarrassed when, two days into a catastrophic disaster that hit 12 of the world's poorer countries and will cost billions of dollars to meliorate, he held a press conference to say that America, the world's richest nation, would contribute $15 million. That's less than half of what Republicans plan to spend on the Bush inaugural festivities.

LTB, I believe if you do some checking, you'll find that the U.S. was not the first country on the scene.

Posted by: Canadian Observer [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 12:55 PM

LTB, why do you let CO, or any of the other trolls here, get under your skin? That's CO's goal, when he isn't swapping spit with axass and Canuckgay. He's been using the same playbook for two years now. CO, Tommie Sh*tley, axass, Canuckgay, et.al. are just wanting a victory so's they can gloat. They may get it. Is it gonna end your world? I think not. Is it gonna make you act like them if your guys are in the majority? I hope not.

What I'm trying to say is it's usless to try and reason with these kooks. They have no ideas, other than Bush sucks, Rummy sucks, Condi sucks, Cheney sucks--all Republicans, and anyone else who disagrees with us sucks.

I've paid close attention to the targeted races in the Senate--the DemocRATs have put up total zeroes, yet they expect to win most of the races and are within reach of winning them all. And none of them have a plan. Ben Cardin, the joke of Maryland, says the plan is to get a plan. And he's probably gonna win the seat. Look at Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia, and you'll see three races that should be locks for the GOP, but they're not.

Turnout is very important, folks. You get what you ask for...

Posted by: 1H8L1BS [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 01:35 PM

Its ok 1H8, they dont get under my skin, I just feel its necessary to point out the utter failure of their arguments.

Example: CO shows great concern about the proclaimed 'shock and awe' technique which was meant to be more psychological than physical, without regard to the fact that even the act of facing down an Abrams tank is probably pretty damn shocking. Of course he fails to critique the utter hellhole which was Iraq before the war, instead choosing the time-honored method of ignoring the problem and ignoring the suffering.

Example: The Times criticizes Bush for trying to distance himself from the measly $15 million offer, says U.N. relief aid chief Jan Egeland was right on target in calling the U.S. stingy and that Colin Powell should be embarassed:

How much does it cost to keep a carrier battle group on station for months? How much does it cost to gas, service and supply fifty helicopters to run rescue and recovery missions 24/7? How much does it cost to supply blankets, food, water and medical care to tens of thousands of people on a continuing basis?

What do you think the stranded, cold, hungry, thirsty, homeless Indonesians would rather have, a pledge of $50 million bucks from Sweden three weeks from now or a $5 MRE and a $20 blanket from America today? How many of the worlds 218 nations sent useful real-time assistance to Indonesia?

But yes, you are correct, the U.S. was second on scene, the Aussies were there first. Did I mention that they used the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier as their CandC base during the rescue operation?

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 04:11 PM

I would also like to add that you failed to address your 'loss of credibility' claim.

Its not a nuanced position; if you want to say America has no credibility then fine, but dont come begging when you need assistance. Turn to someone else for help and see how credible they are.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 5, 2006 04:17 PM

LTB America actually pays less of its GDP to aid than many other countries in Europe, could be argued due to the fact we have loads of ex colonies we are duty bound to provide more aid, it is also one of teh worst for using tied-aid. Bush has repeatedly failed to agree to trade deals proposed by Blair - So much for teh special relationship huh.

Each of teh countries with larger economies are pressured to give troops, Britain, France the US etc because we have the resources and trained armies. And we all like to portray ourselves as teh civilised, diplomatic nations, who help those in need, rulers of teh world some may argue.

The US pays so much for teh UN because it controls it pretty much and it is also one of the biggest economies, how could teh likes of Angola or Kenya contribute as much as teh US or UK, half the countries involved can barely feed their people let alone waste money on the UN. The Minority world is in the lucky position that it can afford to do so.

You should really stop slagging off other countries, apart from being immature, would it not be a good idea to try and remain civil with people from non-hostile countries before everyone becomes hostile?

Weffee and CO

Quit slogging off other countries????

The US controls the UN???

What planet are you on??

Fact, your economies DEPEND upon the US. You'd both be eating grass and insects if it wasn't for the strength of the US economy.

You'd soon be on your prayer rugs facing Mecca if it wasn't for the US.

We could give a crap about what you or any other foreigner thinks about our INTERNAL politics.

You loosers spend time on this blog because life in your pathetic countries is boring and dull. You morons are on the outside looking in. You are both insignificant and your opinions meaningless cyphers in the ether.

My Prediction here

Posted by: Justin at November 6, 2006 09:54 PM

I have never voted straight ticket before...ever. But tomorrow, I will vote straight Republican for the first time in my life. In my past, I have always crossed party lines, but unfortunately I cannot allow that to happen this year. Not with Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean on the sidelines waiting to get in the game. Yes, I welcome moderate Democrats to the campaign...but unfortunately, they will be sent to the back of the room while Rangel, et al take all the posts.

President Discusses War on Terror at National Endowment for Democracy -(October 6, 2005)

President Bush, "We know the vision of the radicals because they've openly stated it -- in videos, and audiotapes, and letters, and declarations, and websites. First, these extremists want to end American and Western influence in the broader Middle East, because we stand for democracy and peace, and stand in the way of their ambitions. Al Qaeda's leader, Osama bin Laden, has called on Muslims to dedicate, quote, their "resources, sons and money to driving the infidels out of their lands." Their tactic to meet this goal has been consistent for a quarter-century: They hit us, and expect us to run. They want us to repeat the sad history of Beirut in 1983, and Mogadishu in 1993 -- only this time on a larger scale, with greater consequences.

[..]Some have also argued that extremism has been strengthened by the actions of our coalition in Iraq, claiming that our presence in that country has somehow caused or triggered the rage of radicals. I would remind them that we were not in Iraq on September the 11th, 2001 -- and al Qaeda attacked us anyway. The hatred of the radicals existed before Iraq was an issue, and it will exist after Iraq is no longer an excuse. The government of Russia did not support Operation Iraqi Freedom, and yet the militants killed more than 180 Russian schoolchildren in Beslan.

Over the years these extremists have used a litany of excuses for violence -- the Israeli presence on the West Bank, or the U.S. military presence in Saudi Arabia, or the defeat of the Taliban, or the Crusades of a thousand years ago. In fact, we're not facing a set of grievances that can be soothed and addressed. We're facing a radical ideology with inalterable objectives: to enslave whole nations and intimidate the world. No act of ours invited the rage of the killers -- and no concession, bribe, or act of appeasement would change or limit their plans for murder.

On the contrary: They target nations whose behavior they believe they can change through violence. Against such an enemy, there is only one effective response: We will never back down, never give in, and never accept anything less than complete victory."

If anyone thinks that the "moderate" democrats being touted now will get any say in how the party is run, think again. The Moron.ogres, the Michael Moores, the Pelosis, the Kerrys, the Murthas, and the Clintons... they're the true face of the democrat party and have been salivating to turn America into a socialist state for so many years now. They're not going to let a few token "moderate" dems spoil it for them. Look how they threw Lieberman under the bus.

I can't speak for the other Canadians, but I would have preferred not to have reason to post here. When Bush & Co. made the decision to invade Iraq, it ceased being an internal matter for U.S. concern only. By making the world less safe it involves us whether we like it or not.

Yes, you are right, compared to U.S. politics, our's are boring and I am grateful for that fact each & every day.

Looking forward with hopeful expectation to seeing a change in American policy & direction after the votes are counted so I won't have to come here anymore.

Posted by: Canadian Observer [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 09:08 AM

I've been working on the Get out the Vote for two weeks. Republicans are charged here in AZ. Even my moderate Dem friends are voting GOP. :-)

Anyone have 4 pages to their ballot in their state? This was the first time I had to bring along a "cheat" sheet to vote! One crazy proposition, which better not pass, was to have a $1M lottery for those who vote. Ridiculous! Voting is a right, not a chance to win money!!

Go GOP!!

Posted by: kimberly4bush [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 11:01 AM

CO: You're right. You can't speak for other Canadians. The Canadians I know are nothing like you (perhaps because they are all in the Canadian Air Force and not wussies like you and your ilk). I would love if you chose not to come back here. But I'm afraid that is just wishful thinking on my part. Even if the Dems win today (which I doubt), you'll still be putting your ridiculous 2 cents on this board.

Posted by: kimberly4bush [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 11:26 AM

Phnxbmed, do you even know what country I come from to pass judgement on it? I wasn't talking about internal policy I was comenting on internationl things and of course the complete contempt you show other countries. As I remember you seemed to know so very much about teh education system in Europe and were commenting on the fact we don't care about teh major sacrifices Britain made in WW2, which seen as I am Scottish I think I know more about that than you and I also remember you blaming socuialist education when actually Thatcher and the Tories were in power for 20 years b4 Labour got in in 97.

Without my country you wouldn't have your television to watch your beloved Fox news or your telephone so you could tell everyone how boring and insignificant my life is. And a whole load of other stuff that is vital to your life and economy i.e penicillin, chloroform, the steam engine (well a modified version) your roads would not be covered in Tarmac. Your US Navy was invented not by an American but by one of my compatriats and many more things.

As for Politics sadly my country has teh same issue as yours Blair is so far up bush's ar*e that we don't know where he ends and bush begins. I would love to be in the same situation as CO with boring politics sadly we are not. As of May Britain may start to cease to exist as 51% of Scots want an end to the Union so we may gain Independance, pretty exciting seen as a lot of teh troops serving are Jocks which would leave Bliar and Bush in a wee problem

As for dependancy on the US economy, aye we do a bit but your economy was decreasing, Europe and Asia was expanding, (The Economist). Scotland in its own right, with our oil, would be teh 7th richest country in the world, which isn't bad really is it for such a wee country.

The US has the power of veto as do France, China, Russia and Britain of course it pretty much runs it as stated b4 UK is up US ar*e

The being Muslim is BS if we wouldn't let it happen pure and simple, no self-respecting Scot would give up drink, we would fight nad protect our country as we have numerous other times. Anyway what makes you think we would fall under Sharia law anyay there is absoloutly no evidence, also have still no Idea what DU and Kos are coz still not had a look at them.

If you wish to alienate your Allies then feel free, just don't come greetin to us when you need political support and just remember my countrymen are dying to in this war too.

PS a Scot helped write your declaration of Independance, think he was called John Witherspoon or something like that.

“I can't speak for the other Canadians, but I would have preferred not to have reason to post here.”

“Looking forward with hopeful expectation to seeing a change in American policy & direction after the votes are counted so I won't have to come here anymore.”

CO,
Why is it that you think you “have” to come here for now??? The Americans are fighting a GLOBAL war on terror. There are soldiers from other countries including Canada that have joined in. But I fail to see any reason that "you" HAVE to post here or anywhere else for that matter. Seems totally optional for anyone to be here. If it pains you, please consider yourself free to NOT post here anymore. It would probably be better for most all of us.

Posted by: DM at November 7, 2006 11:31 AM

Ps should of said all the inventions and stuff were Scottish did't bother including the rest of Britain. Look up teh inventions tehn try living without them and see how uncivilised and useless we were without you to save us from our doom.

Without my country you wouldn't have your television to watch your beloved Fox news...

weefee, I lived most of my life in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Philo Farnsworth lived the latter part of his life. In fact, I grew up a few blocks from his house. I didn't fact check all of your claims, but claiming that television was invented by a Scotsman is a bit of a stretch.

When Farnsworth traveled to England in 1932 while raising money in his legal battles with RCA, he met with John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor who had developed mechanical-scan cameras, and was seeking to develop electronic television receivers. Baird demonstrated his mechanical system for Farnsworth. According to Farnsworth accounts, Baird explained "the superiority of his system to Farnsworth", but after watching several minutes of Farnsworth's version, he left the room without a word, "having realized the futility of his efforts". (emphasis - mine)

You do have a beautiful country, however.

Bugger off, wanker! You're a phony, peewee, a slag heap. Get stuffed...

Weefee,

1. Your previous posts have clearly indicated that you were from the UK.

2. As to the attribution of the posts you claim I made, sorry you got the wrong man.

3. As to the contributions of Scotland besides Scotch Whiskey...you're only claim to fame is haggis, a disgusting fare indeed.

4. Scotland's fine..but friends like YOU (please take that personally) we don't need.

5. "No self respecting Scot would give up his drink..." Tell that to Mohammed when he insists that you to convert or die.

6. If it wasn't for the US you'd now be speaking German.

7. Finally, "Scotland in its own right, with OUR oil, WOULD BE the 7th richest country in the world, which isn't bad really is it for such a wee country" is admitting that you are too weak and sissified to claim what's rightfully yours...so quit your whinning...William Wallace you're not.

Bwahahahahaha!!! The principles you embrace? What principles? Shooting galleries for heroin addicts? Gay marriage? Equal protection for morons?

Just what does Canada base its greatness on? Hockey? Lake Trout? Cold weather? Socialism?

Who knows?

I voted, did you?

Posted by: Don Singleton [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 02:20 PM

The reason why I voted Democrat today, and have since 2002, is that my Eyes have been opened. The Republicans are not the party they were in the 1980's. They have become the Rubber Stamp of the Family Rights Groups. They do not listen to their home state citizens but to the voices of a few from various churches and places such as those in Colorado, Virginia and Nashville. A vast majority of Christians are not for the Family Rights groups. Yet, the Family Rights Groups continue stuffing non-sense legislation and laws into the Congress that really seem bent on turning the United States into a Theoracy.

I can tell you that there are many Christians who wish the Republican Party would dump the Family Rights platform and return to the 1980's. If we all ignored the Family Rights Groups, they will fizzle and go away. Our senators and Congressmen and Women are suppose to represent the Citizens of the states, not a few Big Wig Fundamentalist.

I know a lot of what I have heard about Fundamentalist is very true, that they are indeed seeking to turn the United States into a Theoracy. Because until 2000, I was a Fundamentalist. I heard it all.

Yes, I voted for the Democrats, because they are in the best position to stand up to the few Family Rights groups which seem to have suddenly become the most powerful minority group in the nation. Sure the Family is good, but not Theoracy. You can have families and not change the laws of the nation. The Fundamentalist want to change the laws.

Just remember that the Fundamentalist are in the Minority, The rest of us Christians, Who do believe in Family, do not believe in turning our nation into a Theoracy.

Casey is the lesser of two evils and most people in PA know Santorum is out of touch with PA and too arrogant. His talk about woman staying at home, birth control, Terry Schiavo, ect ect show why people in PA can't wait to get rid of him.

I don't know canuck, maybe it's because of the fraud of the Democratic party having dead people vote.

Or maybe it's because we have 300,000,000 people as compared to your 37 million or whatever paultry number you currently have.

Or maybe it's because the Dems want to allow anyone to vote, even non-US citizens.

Or maybe it's because the liberals don't want to bother with voter i.d.'s...nah, that would just make the process cleaner and less fraudlent.

We wouldn't want that.

No, no, the Canadian education system evidences yet another failure.

You see, in 1869 America wasnt able to put a man on the moon, yet in 1969 we were. Its called progress, and believe it or not, sometimes progress isnt as smooth as you would like it to be. In two years the voting machine kinks will be ironed out and the foreign hysteria about our voting system will presumably die down.

A better question to ask is why such a purportedly advanced country as Canada CANNOT put a man on the moon.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 04:48 PM

Or why an advanced and humane country like Canada has to go around clubbing baby seals each year?

Or why with their great healthcare system...cough...cough...you have to wait months for some procedures or...drum roll...travel to the USA to get it done.

SHE IS SCOTTISH and PROUD of it look I really don't care what you think of me, I accept you don't like my political beliefs, however I have never once personally attacked any blogger or the US. I never would I like the US just because I don't agree with your politics doesn't mean I don't like the US. Feel free by all means to attack me personally but why attack my country? Britain is your main ally yet you show it or its troops very little respect.( Although I never call myself British, unless necessary)

I fully admit we are a small country, I fully admit that we will never be as big or as powerfull as the US you have 300,000,000 people we have less than 5 million. What I do not accept is that we are any less valuable than you and that goes for any country.

Ever heard of Andrew Carnegie, Alexander Grahm Bell, Fleming? Scottish, I also believe A-10 stated earlier in another topic that he would like to visit St Andrews (know hes not involved in this), we invented Golf, your Navy , Tarmac, look You clearly aren't going to agree with me that we are of any value, thats fine but how would you feel if other people started slagging your country?

I apologise for my moronic spelling I am dyslexic sadly I can't control that. If you really want to know where I am from which I am sure you don't, I am from outside of Glasgow.

Just remeber what British soldiers are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That's right, you don't get it! Let me spell it out for you.
#1. New technology always has glitches.

#3. Democrats are desparate to win something.....anything and are willing to go so far to get it.

weefee

The supporters of Bush & his policies who post here do their attacks because they cannot in good conscience defend this administration and the grievous harm they have done.

Our Canadian troops serving side by side with U.S. forces in Afghanistan know first hand what it is like to be attacked by Americans. The U.S. military called it "friendly fire" incidents, but really, is there anything 'friendly' with killing your allies?

I feel a special kinship with you, weefee, as my grandfather hails from the Hebrides, - the clan MacNeill.

Jake,

Name one position that Casey has personally articulated. That doesn't include the talking points his handlers have crafted.

Casey is and empty suit. He has never has an original thought. His handlers cleverly kept him from actually speaking.

If we were going to have a Dem senator, I'd rather have Rendell. At least Fast Eddie is his own man.

Posted by: Tom at November 7, 2006 06:57 PM

The Diebold machines at my polling place give electric shocks to anyone voting dem, its a little feature that was recently added.

Sadly, I live in a blue state which means the lights in my house will be constantly dimming and flickering until the polls close.

Posted by: 4th Light Horse [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 07:03 PM

Mark, I have my "I Voted / Yo Voté" sticker to show I've voted. I wouldn't mind a "Ja Wotowalem" sticker, but for some reason, we Polish Americans have not been trying to force other Americans to accommodate our language.

Bush for not bringing in a single Democrat, Green Party or Libertarian into his inner circle for a different view. AM dial for filling the nation with the belief if the idea is not Republican it is wrong for America.

I find it interesting how the right seems to have this obligation to bring consider all the views that differ from their own, yet the left just about never seems to impose this obligation on itself. Disagree with a leftist about affirmative action, Title IX, open borders, etc., and you face a significant risk of being accused of hate, racism, bigotry, sexism, xenophobia, or stupidity.

The left throws the term "hate speech" around at any view they don't agree with, while overlooking their own hate speech. For example, when lefty Julianne Malveaux wished that Clarence Thomas's wife would fix him some high-cholesterol food so that he'd die of a heart attack, her fellow lefties, to my recollection, made no "hate speech" accusations. When people (not just lefties, but in general) denounce "hate speech", it's just about always hate speech they don't agree with.

So Bush doesn't ask non-Republicans for their views? Excuse me, but didn't Bush keep Democrat Normam Minetta in his cabinet? To be fair, Bill Clinton had Republican William Cohen. However, neither relied heavily on views outside his party, nor should any president realistically be expected to.

For what it's worth, I did not have to present a voter ID. However, I did have to identify myself and orally recite my birth date and address.

Posted by: Bigfoot [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 07:09 PM

I voted before I went to work today and I have my "I voted Electronically" sticker on now. :)

Again, I voted on one of those nice Diebold machines with the paper printouts here in California. Odd that they're still using the Diebold machines if CA thought they were bad. *Shrugs*

To be fully honest I'm going to be paying closer attention to the California races then the country wide races. Mainly because we've got several really stupid Propositions (87 comes to mind first) that need to be shot down and I hope they are.

How's everyone's local races going?

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 07:37 PM

Thanks for asking, gozer. Our polls are still open so its hard to say, though I would suspect it will be a mixed ticket.

I expect the gov to stay repub, we will have one congressman from each side and will gain a repub attorney general.

We too have a stupid proposition trying to force funding for useless light-rail lines (through a constitutional amendment no less!), though its been getting bad press and hopefully will fail.

We have the old-fashioned paper ballots so no worries about machines, and Minnesotans arent known for election-day hijinks. Its pretty much aboveboard. If repubs lose nationwide, Ill accept it like a man and wait to see what happens, though there are going to be legal wrangles for days or weeks.

Secretary of State sites for each State...they have the raw data, usually a few minutes before the TV does...as a late update, in the bellweather KY3, GOPer Northrup is behind by a mere 3,600 votes....this is a district Gore carried in 2000 and Kerry in 2004...its a Donk district Northrup has been able to hold for us...I hope she still pulls it out, but she's clearly not being blown out, and she would be if there were that mythical Donk wave....and Matt just told me that Allen is winning in VA with 32% reporting.

As the co-author of a book on Democratic corruption, I think I'm not too far off in saying that there will be a special election to fill the remainder of Menendez' term in 2008...he's not just a bit corrupt, he's filthy dirty...only in NJ...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 09:14 PM

Thanks Mark, ok to use that familiar with you?

I dont know too much about Menendez other than he seemed to be surrounded by corruption scandals, with emphasis on the word "surrounded". Why WOULD NJ elect him, was Kean just too average, considering his lineage? Im really surprised by the result which in my mind makes the NJ voters either blind or doggedly entrenched.

How do you feel about DeWine, he seemed RINO'ish to me, though the man did sound even tempered and didnt come off as a zealot.

Posted by: Lose the Bongos [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 09:23 PM

LtB,

Menendez is just dirty...he's got bribe taking and giving, political shennanigans, adultery...I expect he'll be indicted early next year.

As for DeWine - its too bad we lost him, he is a good guy, though some times "wet"...what really breaks the heart is loosing Santorum and not getting Steele...these two are the best of the best.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 09:37 PM

Mark -

"Yeah, but only one Donk gain in the House so far...."

Patience my dear. Patience.

Meanwhile, Ricky is gone, DeWine is gone, and Chaffee is gone, while Dems hold all of their Senate seats. Your prognosis of Republican gains in the Senate is now up in smoke.

Looking forward to duplicating your prediction powers in the House.

Posted by: Aarontime [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 09:46 PM

"...while your happiness is predicated upon the prospect in your mind that President Bush will be impeached and we'll be defeated in Iraq...Its clear we're in for a hard night, but not nearly as hard as you Donks were predicting just a week ago..."

Nope, I do not wish for "defeat" in Iraq (although, it is not too clear what "winning" would be). If there is any defeat of the US in Iraq, it is because of the incompetent Bushies for ever getting us into that no-win situation, and for failing to plan for events that were widely anticipated by regional experts.

Speaking of anticipated outcomes... my prediction last week and the week before was 5 Dem pickups in the Senate and 24 in the House. So far, that looks pretty much on target.

"If you do get Speaker Pelosi, just remember that you'll carry that albatross in to 2008."

The only albatross in 08 will be the big Iraq one hanging around YOUR necks. Remember, Bush will never admit a mistake and will never fire Rummy. See you in 08!

Lots of BIG promises by the dems, not only to America but also to the all-important and rapidly kookifying base, lets see how well you keep them.

Here is the democrats problem that I plan on watching with glee; Pelosi promised no impeachment, yet the base is demanding just that. I mean look what they are saying today about Harry Reid AND Pelosi...and the base must be satisfied.

Impeach Bush with the WOT and Iraq going on and you lose all the moderates who decided to give the dems a chance, and there goes '08 out the window.

Ill still be a Bible-thumper, I will continue to carry a gun and drive a truck, my rocket-snowmobile will continue to carve holes in the ditches, I will happily hunt deer and fish walleyes and my kids will still be saying the Pledge in school. All to the chagrin of the liberals who want to abolish everything.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 10:48 PM

I saw threats on my life that I'd never seen before, which is what the terrorists have been trying to achieve for years. Heckuva job, Fox.

Which means you were...GASP!...informed of something by the evil rightwing tv station?

You see, if you know about the potential threats then you can hopefully take action against them, by killing the terrorists or....or...or why am I even talking to a lib about such things, according to them there are no terrorist threats?

BTW, what were you doing watching FOX? I thought they were the bad guys? Curious that all the libs have such intimate knowledge of Bush's personal cable network.

The House has been called for the Democrats!

Now we can have some adult supervision in governmnet.

Wade

Posted by: Wade at November 7, 2006 11:04 PM

The House is gone like most of us rational people here predicted. The Senate will stay GOP as most of us rational people said here.

The interesting part is that many of the House pickups were by conservative Democrats so I don't think you are going to see any impeachment hearings soon, but who knows.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 11:08 PM

This is not good but in some ways it will make the next two years mighty interesting.

The overriding American concern is still national security, which means the libs will have to deliver just that. If they start trying to abolish the Patriot Act, close down Gitmo and coddle terrorist suspects, they can kiss the WH goodbye.

If they dont do those things and try to maintain a low profile, Bush can force them to take a stand on national security issues and they are stuck. Piss off the base by going along with Devil Bush or resist and watch their support erode away by the day. That presidential bully pulpit is one powerful tool and Bush can make them pay, one way or another.

This isnt looking all that bad now, when you think about it. The donks trying to look strong on national security while simaltaneously trying to placate their wierdified base...yessir, this could be fun. Take heart and keep your eyes on the '08 prize.

"But where are most of our lefty trolls? Not feeling as well as you hoped?"

Um, how much better should we feel? We're taking the House, and the Senate may well be within reach - which is astounding. So far, 3 sitting Republican Senators have gone down.

Clue this in - the polls the last couple weeks have been pretty accurate so far. You said the polls were all hogwash. Now that the actual votes are being counted, will you finally admit that Bush really is a 35% president?

Face it. You're a minority, led by a 35% president who has us stuck in a 35% war.

Blue Wave! Oh wait, I guess its just a trickle washing over my toes.

The best of all possible political circumstances on your side and....hmmm....not the tidal wave that was expected. Which means Pelosi needs to take it easy, because she has pro-war Liebermann and blue-dog democrats who got elected, not the zealots.

They wont take a shine to impeachment nor to running from Iraq. The base is going to be pissed. And you know what happens when the liberal base gets pissed...riots, burnings and tantrums.

Steele and Allen are going to win and blue-dogs on the left. My my, things just got more interesting.

Head over to KOS and DU and their affiliates, you know, the sites that are linked through the DNC and DFL candidate websites. The base is telling Pelosi she better not waffle on impeachment, or else.

Yet your party is electing a lot of blue-dogs, and they wont accept impeachment because they want to keep their jobs for longer than one term.

Let the liberal circus begin. Ladies and gents, feast your eyes on the center ring, where Nancy Pelosi will attempt to walk a tightrope; if she falls one way she loses the base, if she falls the other way she loses the moderates.

Hey, Bongos, do you really think the GOP is in great shape right now? I mean, we still have the inevitable fight between the fiscal conservatives and the Big Government Republicans. Not to mention the 2008 nomination between the socially liberal candidates (Guiliani, Pataki, Romney, Rice, etc) and the socially conservative candidates (who??? Santorum?? Jeb Bush??? George Allen???)

Do you really think the (closeted) Religious Right will vote for the 'moderates' in your party who are pro-choice????

Well, Mark, for someone who was predicting gains for the GOP in both houses yesterday you've sure flip-flopped! So easy to do--sure hope you give yourself grief over it.

The GOP certainly didn't win anything except to reinforce that it is the leading party of corruption, deception, overspending, big government, in your bedroom government, unaccountability, and fear. Onwards to better things.

Indeed, well said! ALL AMERICANS should be very happy that there will finally be some oversight and balance in our Federal Government!

Posted by: coulterfan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 7, 2006 11:58 PM

You dont understand, coulter, you should have lost and by that I mean you should have wanted to lose.

Your momentum towards '08 is gone, the ball is now in your court and you have to serve. Two years of dem control means two years of America watching what you do, gauging how you do it and measuring the results. You made promises for change and now you have to keep them. If you had stayed out of power, the WH was yours in '08, and you could have gotten it for a song.

National security will remain the top issue as long as the islamic savages threaten us, so how will the dems react? Pull out the troops, close down Gitmo, kill the PatAct? The blue-dog democrats wont play, they have to answer to their red-state constituents, and you just inherited a whole slew of blue-dogs.

So now Bush is going to hammer the in-control dems on national security and they will have to play or pay. Pelosi is your new leader, and if you believe a San Fran pol wont do or say something really stupid in the next two years, youre dreaming.

America voted for a change, but it wasnt a very big change even though the dems had ALL of the momentum. So what does this say? It says that America gave you just enough breathing space to move, but with the smallest of margins which means if you blow it, they will turn on you just as fast.

Go along with Bush and forego all the promises for change and you lose. Turn your back on national security, which Bush will hang over your heads and you lose.

Bongos,

I think the Dems will provide balance and competance for a change! I used to be an independent and often voted for fiscal conservatives and social liberals, but the GOP has lost all of those moderates and now move in lock-step with the President.

Republicans have even refused oversight in Iraq profiteering, something Truman (a Democrat in a Democratic Congress) did during WWII. As a fiscal conservative, you have to be for that?

Gridlock is good for the markets and reigns in the power of Big Government. I have no delusions that a Democratic President could easily abuse all the powers that this administration has given to that office, it's time for some checks and balances!

My only fear is that the Dems will make Bush more moderate and, therefore, more popular. If they do make him look good, his approval rating could easily go up and put the GOP in a good position in 2008. But, if not. . .

Well, the citizens always blame an unpopular President.

For certain jeremiah. But still, Ill take this result like a man, you wont hear me threatening to move to europe or blaming the voting machines for what happened.

This is democracy in action and its far better than what exists in much of the world.

Now it will be our turn to criticize and parse and analyze, and there will be a lot of material to work with in the next two years, you can be sure of that.

One corruption scandal, one moral misstep, one faulty decision against the terrorists and the mask will fall away. They had the white house in '08, HAD IT right in their hands, and instead they will have to work for it. The libs wont admit it but they know and we know its true. One wrong move in the next two years and bammmo.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 8, 2006 12:20 AM

Well coulter, as much as I enjoy hacking on the libs, I dont hate anyone on the left in a personal way. In fact, in reference to what you said in your last post I partly agree with you.

Some gridlock is good but it has to be on the right issues, and the war against the savages is not the right issue. If America pulls a 'Vietnamization' in Iraq, we are done, no one will ever trust us again. Iraq isnt perfect but if we run, the wolves will be at the gates in no time.

You 'redeploy' the troops to Okinawa and you lose in '08, plain and simple. The troops will come home and start telling the real stories, and they wont reflect well on the left.

Its your turn at the wheel, so feel free to drive. But we will be waiting, watching and ready to pounce. Stay on the road or you lose.

We are going to have to be very careful to purge these guys if we aren't going to get hit in the upcoming years.

If Hillary can Purge Reid, we'll have 2 VERY powerhungy cats in charge of congress, and they won't hesitate to throw anyone under the bus that doesn't perpetuate Dem power.

Your dreams of Dem suicide by taxation or corruption is not going to happen. The Dems do not want to lose again.

Posted by: Jim Oliver [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 8, 2006 12:27 AM

Yeah, Mark, I'm sure scared!

Look, the scandals and corruption is nothing in the Dems (currently) like it is in the GOP. This is due to many things- the power of incumbency often leads to corruption. I sincerely hope that the lobbiest money doesn't corrupt the Dems as badly as it has the Republicans, but we shall see. . .

Still, this is a tremendous win for the Dems and for America. Isn't competition best?

Is monopoly power ever a good thing?

WOOOO HOOOOOOOO! Also, Tim Pawlenty just erased a thirty thousand vote deficit to surge ahead with a fifteen thousand vote lead, a net change of forty five grand. Why? Because the exurb vote is rolling in...thats where I live...and we like our guns, trucks and ATV's. YES!

I've come to know the Democratic leadership quite well over the past year...

Pelosi has corruptly given defense contracts to family members...Menendez has taken and given bribes...Reid has piles of dirt starting to suffocate him....you've been so focused on what you think was a Republican culture of corruption that you don't realise that Democrats were dirty for forty years, and didn't change their ways when they lost power...the dirt has just returned (partially) to power...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 8, 2006 12:38 AM

We should have been battling Al Queda, but instead we're nation building a country that grows to hate us more the longer we stay there!

I call bullshiite. The democrats are always fighting the last war. You dont like Iraq so you talk about all the support you have for the fight in Afghanistan, except that in 2001 there was nothing but "Remember what happened to the Russians! Remember the Khyber Pass! Surgeon Brydon and his half-dead horse! Death of empire! Graveyard of the west!" etc. etc. etc.

Before Iraq, when all you had to criticize was Afghanistan, the left talked of how well...GASP!...President Bush I did in 1991; "a great campaign, short and sweet, for a republican he did alright. Not this terrible debacle in Afghanistan."

Meanwhile you forget Clinton's unilateral attack on Serbia; done without U.N. sanction, without world 'permission' and against a country which was no threat to the U.S. Then afterwards Clinton gave a no-bid contract to Halliburton. And in the background, Kerry, Gore and the rest of the libs were declaring how dangerous Saddam was with all his WMD programs.

Your history is skewed and I dont believe for a minute that, without Iraq, the left would be supporting the fight in Afghanistan.

Fell asleep for a while... wow. CNN has McCaskill pulled ahead by a slim margin. Montana is looking good. VA web site has Webb up very, very slightly. Pretty much a tie, though I'd rather be up than down.

That's the most heartening race for me. I believe Allen was up in the polls when he released that press release and Webb was dubbed "toast" on this site. That was just a reprehensible campaign tactic that seems to have backfired. Great to see the VA voters didn't go for that BS.

Got the house, Senate still VERY much in play. Could have both houses when all is said and done. Don't want to toot my own horn, but looks like my 4-6+ and 25+ prediction is right on the money. Great night for the dems, even if we don't quite get the senate.

True, Mark. It is a better night for Conservatives than Republicans.

The Dems expanded their tent, while the Repubs have shrunken theirs. What many of us had already assumed to be true is now an absolute: Radical Right-wingers only now for the Repubs. No Moderates. No Libs. Just super-ultra right types.

The Dems will be able to have a moderate, stable agenda with the captured center. And power for a long, long time.

"Patience my dear. Patience." ...he says, in his best "Wicked Witch of the West" voice...

BTW--I worked as a poll watcher last night...in the most liberal precinct in St. Cloud--the Atwood Center at St. Cloud State University.

The workers for the local dem candidate for State Senate were passing out campaign stickers to people going in line to vote--State law specifically states that you can do no electioneering within 100 feet of a building in which a polling place is enclosed.

On top of that, people carrying "Emily's List" posters were handing out free pizza to people in line--again--clearly a violation of the law.

I pointed out each instance to the head election judge, who was very cooperative in throwing those bums out.

Funny how it is that I didn't see any republicans or right-wing groups doing anything similar.

Why doesn't that surprise me?
