September Fund Flop

Always watch what people do:

A new political group set up to help Democrats win control of Congress with a last-minute advertising blitz brought in $3 million as of last week, leaving the effort far short of its reported fund-raising goals.

The September Fund was created last month by a top Democratic operative, Harold Ickes, to combat an anticipated pre-election onslaught of advertising by Republican groups. The fund reportedly hoped to raise between $10 million and $25 million, but its filing yesterday with the Internal Revenue Service indicated the total received through October 18 was only $3 million.

If the Democrats were really poised to take over Congress next month, then business would be shovelling money at them in order to curry favor...if the Democrats really had a chance at winning, they wouldn't have fallen $7 to $22 million dollars short of goal. They might have fallen short, but not by a factor of three to seven times.

Remember, what most people get in reports about the upcoming elections are polls (which are getting more inaccurate all the time, even when not biased), and punditry (which normally can't tell the difference betwen sh** and shinola). Real information is available, however, and the people who can afford to pay for it make their decisions accordingly. This report, in and of itself, doesn't mean the Democrats can't do well - but what it does tend to confirm is my contention that there has not been, is not, and will not be a Democratic "wave"...and if you check the "Democrats are going to win" punditry, it is all predicated upon there being a Democratic wave...no wave, and its just about impossible for the Democrats to win.

God help America if the Democrats don't win control and put Bush in check!

Head of the General Accounting Office, David Walker is touring the country explaining to anyone who will listen to him the fiscal black hole the Republican Congress and Administration has put this nation in by borrowing heavily from foreign nations to pay for the operations of the US Government.

How can Republicans sleep at night knowing they are dooming their children to be indebted to foreign governments because of their own selfish pleasures? Where to Repbulicans think roads, bridges, tanks, bullets etc come from? Do Republicans think they are crapped from the sky?

I think this is another sign that conservatives are slowly winning over the country. The old media tends to give democrats tens of millions every year, but they're hurting financially since they've lost their credibility, and consequently they've lost so many people who patronized them, and now find them patronizing. If they Dems win, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them find ways to give research and other contracts to the media to build up their coffers, so that the media can give it back to the Dems before their next election.

I actually saw one of those ads... don't worry... it was PHENOMINALLY stupid... and ineffective.
