ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

How is it Going in Iraq?

It is a shame that we little bloggers have to do this, but if we don't report what is happening in Iraq, it just doesn't get reported. As we've had a spike in MSM stories about how the United States must surrender in Iraq, I think it time to take a look at what is actually happening:

Baghdad’s Doura neighborhood has been plagued by terrorist elements, and the Soldiers operations completed in the area have become routine for ISF and MND-B Soldiers.

The Soldiers link-up with their Iraqi counterparts in the early morning hours. The IPs roll their vehicles into the march and prepare for the upcoming mission.

“Doura has been our main effort for the brigade and division,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Moss, 2nd Bn., 506th Inf. Reg. “Our whole goal is to give the Iraqi people the courage and confidence to actually defend themselves and enjoy life as a free people.”

The units move simultaneously and block off key entrances, isolating a small portion of the neighborhood, in this case, near the Doura Power Plant in southern Baghdad. The Soldiers and NP officers dismount and form their teams for conducting the intensive search operations that have affectionately earned the nickname, “a block party.”

The efforts of the ISF and MND-B Soldiers are helping the Iraqi government to stand up to the challenge of securing the nation’s capital, said Moss.

“One thing for the Iraqi people, them gaining trust in their Iraqi Police and National Police, will individually help us out because they know we are there for a purpose,” said Moss. “Eventually, the people are going to help us close out this war because we need them just as much as they need us.”

While the MSM concentrates on body counts and the latest dramatic explosion video, the people of Iraq and our troops are actually doing the work of winning the battle. This has all gone beyond argumentation anymore - we can't discuss the War on Terrorism with the critics because they will simply not believe anything which indications other than disaster requiring surrender, and the impeachment of President Bush for good measure. Twenty years from now, when Iraq is the free and prosperous center of a new Arab world, the critics will still be proclaiming our efforts in Iraq to have been a failure.

But we also have to do our duty - the troops have carried this thing forward to the point now where Iraqi troops and police are taking charge of Iraq's destiny...the only thing which can possibly upset the program now is for America to pull out, or even signal a lack of will to stay. The election of a Democratic Congress would be such a signal. So, get out there in to the political battle - keep a stout heart and a calm confidence. Our troops have done their job, and now it is time for the home front to do its job.

Mark states: "Twenty years from now, when Iraq is the free and prosperous center of a new Arab world, the critics will still be proclaiming our efforts in Iraq to have been a failure"

I must state: "BWAH HA HA HA HA "

Twenty years from now?? That's is a long time to wait to say "We kept telling you so".

Man, you got to lay of the magic mushrooms, Noonan. It makes you delusional.

The Soldiers and NP officers dismount and form their teams for conducting the intensive search operations that have affectionately earned the nickname, “a block party.”

Intensive search operations. Intensive. Search.

So we're blocking off sections of this neighborhood and doing a house to house. Intensively searching.
Rooting. Remember rooting?

A block party! Fun! Affection. Smiles and laughter. A block party! Yowsir a party all right. Let's see, if your male and brown your gonna have a lot of fun at this party! Think of all the affection you'll recieve.

Spare me, more lip service and more rhetoric.

How are things going in Iraq? A slightly different reality.

"But on Thursday, Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, announced that the American-led crackdown on violence in Baghdad had failed and said U.S. commanders were consulting with the Iraqi government on a new approach."

Oh thank you so, to our liberal bloggers for reminding us of your most apparent trait, "NEGATIVITY & PESSIMISM". If there is one thing history tells us, it's that!

Posted by: bearmanUSMC [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 20, 2006 11:49 PM

There is no negativity here.

I am positive that the Bush administration has been in over their head for 6 years now.

I am positive that history will show that this has been one of the darkest times in American history.

I am positive that all the Bush lemmings will know how absolutely wrong they are, even if their emotional attachment to their stance prevents them form admitting it.

The thing that just leaves me aghast is how in 3 + years of downward spiral, Daddy G and company always saying things are getting better, the conservative movement continues to believe Daddy G. He has obviously been lying all along. If he hadn’t been lying Iraq would be an absolute nirvana.

Posted by: RAL [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 21, 2006 12:28 AM

and now it is time for the home front to do its job.

Absolutely, let's do it!

As the Pope boldly explained it without equivocation!

"We are facing an enormous and dramatic clash between good and evil, death and life, the 'culture of death and the 'culture of life.' We find ourselves necessarily 'in the midst of this conflict,'"

We are all involved and we all share in it with the enescapable responsiblility of choosing to be unconditionally pro-life.

Due to the communistic thinking of liberals, We are fast developing an unhealthy chasm of alien cultures!

With that said, I ask, what would it profit a nation of it gained the whole globe and suffered the loss of its national soul?

So, It is time!, My Conservative friends to pick up our crosses and move forward.
God never promised us a rose garden, But He will help us carry our crosses, and weather the storm!

Don't worry about some impossible liberal utopia imagination, because liberalism is the ENEMY! within and nothing short thereof, and only seeks to demonize and erase the very foundations of civilization, and forms sick society!!

So, the objective here, is to adhere to our Christian base, ultimately, Conservative base.

Well said, Jeremiah!

“Our whole goal is to give the Iraqi people the courage and confidence to actually defend themselves and enjoy life as a free people.”-Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Moss, 2nd Bn., 506th Inf. Reg

It's sickening how virtually the entire Democratic Party is against freedom and democracy for the Iraqi people.

"Twenty years from now, when Iraq is the free and prosperous center of a new Arab world, the critics will still be proclaiming our efforts in Iraq to have been a failure."-Mark Noonan

This is truly a noble goal! VOTE REPUBLICAN to help ensure that this happens! God bless America's armed forces and our efforts to establish a stable democracy in Iraq!

There's a major uptick in violence among Muslims in France. How long before Democrats suggest cutting and running from France?

A Year Later, France Fears Renewed Unrest

NYT (via International Herald Tribune-Europe): EPINAY-SUR-SEINE, France When the call came about a car burglary in this raw suburb north of Paris one night last weekend, three officers in a patrol car rushed over, only to find themselves surrounded by 30 youths in hoods throwing rocks and swinging bats and metal bars.

Neither tear gas nor stun guns stopped the assault. Only when reinforcements arrived did the siege end. One officer was left with broken teeth and in need of 30 stitches to his face.

The attack was rough but not unique. In the past three weeks alone, three similar assaults on the police have occurred in these suburbs that a year ago were aflame with the rage of unemployed, undereducated youths, most of them the offspring of Arab and African immigrants.

In fact, with the anniversary of those riots approaching in the coming week, spiking statistics for violent crime across the area tell a grim tale of promises unkept and attention unpaid. Residents and experts say that fault lines run even deeper than before and that widespread violence could flare up again at any moment.

"Tension is rising very dramatically," said Patrice Ribeiro, the deputy head of the Synergie-Officiers police union. "There is the will to kill."

[..]Last month, a leaked law enforcement memo warned of a "climate of impunity" in Seine-Saint-Denis, the notorious district north of Paris, where clusters of suburbs like Clichy-sous- Bois and Epinay-sur-Seine are located.

It reported a 23 percent increase in violent robberies and a 14 percent increase in assaults in the district of 1.5 million people in the first half of 2006, complaining that young, inexperienced police officers were overwhelmed and that the court system was lax. Only one of 85 juveniles arrested during the unrest had been jailed, it added.

In all of France, according to the Ministry of Interior, 480 incidents of violence against the police were recorded in September, a 30 percent increase from the month before.

Iraq's religious figures issue edicts

Seattlepi.com: BAGHDAD, Iraq -- In a bid to stop sectarian bloodshed, Shiite and Sunni religious figures met in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, and issued a series of edicts Friday forbidding violence between Iraq's two Muslim sects.

All trool posts here prove Michael Savage to be correct: Liberalism is a Mental Disorder...

Posted by: 1H8L1BS [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 21, 2006 12:04 PM

Let's be honest here Iraq is a disaster. Amarah is now controlled by the militia headed by Moqtada al-sadr. The US military has admitted that they have been unable to reduce the violence and sustain the reduction in violence in Baghdad. Could it get any worse? Then we add to that that the most senior serving soldier in the british army saying that the trops presence is fuelling extremists, also the governer and police chief in Basra backed Sir Richard Dannatt's comments. It's not exactly looking good is it?

What is it with comparing liberals to communists? There is no similarity, to be liberal in my opinion means respecting everyone's culture, beliefs, religion, and freedom of choice where as communism, well certainly Maoism, regarded religion as poison. How does that equate? Also you lot are so jumpy at the left the Democrats really are not that left wing compared to a lot of countries in Europe. I would say that all liberals want everyone to be able to have freedom and democracy that is what Liberalism is about, human rights, freedom of choice.

It's funny, I see a lot of news stories written by the MSM linked to from you and Matt. You seem to trust them some of the time. It's only when you don't like what they're saying that you pull out the "media bias" crutch. Funny.

So - what is the DEmocratic plan? To pull out? Or to pour more troops in?

Just asking since I haven't heard anyone say with authority what the Democrats would actually do.

Muslims can never conform to our ways
By W F Deedes
Telegraph.co.uk: Ministers appear whimsically to be shifting from the multi-cultural society towards an integrated one. They are whistling in the dark if they think that will play well with the followers of Islam in our midst. Muslims are rooted in their faith and it governs the way they live. It is the only faith on Earth that persuades its followers to seek political power and impose a law — sharia — which shapes everyone's style of life. [..]

In a little noticed passage of his controversial interview with another newspaper, the Chief of the General Staff, Gen Sir Richard Dannatt spoke of the Islamist threat. "I hope it doesn't make undue progress," he said, "because there is a moral and spiritual vacuum in this country."

It's not exactly looking good in the UK either. But, we need to re-double our efforts and fight on, not surrender.

Fear disguised as “sensitivity” in the UK

"Police to avoid Ramadan arrests"

BBC News: Police in Manchester have been told not to arrest Muslims wanted on warrants at prayer times during Ramadan.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed it had asked detectives not to make planned arrests during those periods for reasons of religious sensitivity.

The advice was emailed out to officers working in Moss Side, Hulme, Whalley Range, Rusholme, Fallowfield, Ardwick, Longsight, Gorton and Levenshulme.

Police said it was not a blanket ban, just a “request for sensitivity”.

The email stressed the order did not apply to on-the-spot arrests, only the execution of arrest warrants.

EU’s fight against radical Islam
by Gil Yaron

Ynet News.com: (DUSSELDORF) – Henrik Broder, a prominent Jewish journalist in Germany, recently published a book titled, “Hooray! We Surrender!” which criticizes what the author refers to as ‘Europe’s weakness in its battle against Islam.’

“We must define what sets us aside as a society, and what values we must uphold in our struggle against Islam,” Broder tells Ynet.

Broder’s remarks come amid the ever-increasing tension in Europe between the traditional values and those of radical Islam, which are beginning to spread throughout the continent. It began with the Madrid terror attack, which was carried out by a cell of immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East and continued with the London bombings, which were carried out by UK-born Muslims, and the attempts to attack airliners in Britain and trains in Germany. In the interim there were the violent riots in response to the prophet Muhammad caricatures, the outrage and threats over Pope Benedict XVI’s accusations and the public outcry following the UK veils affair.

With the end of the Cold War 17 years ago, Europe was able to unite around values of democracy, individualism and a free market. But lately the atmosphere ion Europe has begun to change, and tolerant Europe has started to organize against radical Islam (and some say Islam in general), an ideology that is being referred to more and more as ‘an enemy of modern western society’s lifestyle.

Until recently political correctness reigned in Europe, and those who dared point an accusatory finger at minorities were ostracized. When immigrants attacked their host-countries in Europe, the Europeans blamed western society for ‘inadequately absorbing them.’

Dialogue, not confrontation was the solution to the absorption difficulties of immigrants; criticism of the Muslim minority, part of which refused to accept the social ideals of the majority, was dismissed as racist - and so the Muslims in Europe did not integrate with the western population.

But following Madrid and London attacks, as well as the Muslim riots over the Mohammad caricatures, there are more and more signs indicating that the European Union is beginning to view Islam and the Muslim immigrants as an existential threat.

UK Muslim Teacher in Veil Row Linked to 7/7 Bomber Mosque

The Daily Mail: The Muslim teacher suspended for refusing to work without her veil is connected to a hardline mosque where the ringleader of the July 7 bombers worshipped, it has emerged.

The family of classroom assistant Aishah Azmi, 24, plays a key role at the fundamentalist Markazi mosque in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire - which was attended by suicide bomber Mohammed Sidique Khan.

Until recently, Miss Azmi’s father was joint headmaster of the secondary school attached to the building. The family are known to worship there and may have encountered Khan before his terrorist act. However, there is no suggestion that Miss Azmi or anyone in her family have any connection with terrorism.

I have a lot of friends and relatives in the military. I have a niece and nephew in Iraq right now - and both their parents are military (one's retired).

Here is what I get - we ex-military and military people will not tolerate being forced to lose in Iraq. Read that any way you want to. We will not tolerate it.

If we are forced to run - as we did from Viet Nam there WILL be serious consequences.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 21, 2006 06:52 PM

Totally agree, on point Kahn!

Posted by: bearmanUSMC [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 21, 2006 08:00 PM

You already have lost. You have lost all sense of direction and sense of reality. How are you going to change the course in Iraq? By saying you are going to win?

Your commander in thief has continually left you hanging and you still blindly follow.

Who was it that sent the soldiers into battle without adequate armor? Who is it that still requires the soldiers to provide some of their own equipment? Who was it that wanted to cut the soldiers combat pay? Who is that wants to cut Veterans benefits?

I'll tell you who? George W. Bush and company.

Now if I were to send troops to battle I would not let a major contractor get away with pocketing $9 billion and then short change the troops. First I would not send the troops on a fool’s mission or an elective war. I would make sure they had everything that they needed to fight the battle and that includes enough troops to win.

Under the Bush doctrine if you disagree or have something to offer that isn’t in line with what you have been told to say… you are out.

“RAL, you are POSITIVELY PATHETIC PARROT!”

bearmanUSMC want a cracker aarrack bearmanUSMC want a cracker aarrrack (or is that IIrrraaaqqqq)

I have yet to hear more than a few original thoughts from the right. Continual regurgitation of Rovian half truths, lies of omission and outright lies.

Posted by: RAL [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 21, 2006 10:39 PM

RAL - your rant is so full of misinformation I'm just going to discount the whole thing.

How to win? Identify the problem areas, bring in three more divisions and go house to house. Let it be known that any house with a weapons cache of more than four personal firearms (2 pistols and 2 rifles)will mean death to every adult inhabitant.

We will not tolerate your losing this war for us - get it? Remember Spain in the 30's? Remember Argentina after the Falklands/Malvinas war? If you are an American posting (which I doubt you are because you're especially stupid) then get this into your head - those guys and gals fighting over there are OUR troops. They are NOT George Bush's troops. Sell them out at your own peril.

The political and social ramifications for foisting defeat upon us will be dire.

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 22, 2006 12:33 AM

I never said we should surrender, I said it was time for realism. Before the situation can start to get better we have to address the mistakes. And stop accusing people of not supporting the troops would be good to, just because some one does not support the war does not mean they are against the troops, or freedom, or America for that matter. What we need is a clear perspective and some kind of new plan, and no I don't have a clue what that should be but I am not running the country, or military operations. We just need to try something new coz what we are doing now is not working.

The word TRIED is important they haven't forced them have they. What you forget are that people in Britain look at things differently from people in other countries, as do the French and the Americans. We do not go in for the we are all gonna die hysteria. Posting articles like that just reinforces the popular sterotype that americans are neurotic ane paranoid. National pride is hugely important here, being Scottish and maintaining Scottishness is important to us. We have not let the English destroy it and we will not let anyone else destroy our country. Also Scottish Muslims are more likely to consider themselves Scottish first.

This is where I go off on a rant because I clicked on that link you left "Fear disguised as sensitivity" - which is BS. Which comes to a blog on which a comment says that "the Brits were getting their ass kicked by the nazis before we helped them out"

I am sorry but americans can not say that we were getting our arse kicked. We fought that war since 1939 virtually on our own, we were still suffering the economic and social effects of the Great War. We lost millions in the Great War. The British army was the greatest army on earth at that time. Our civillians were under constant attack as were German civillians, they suffered rationing of food and clothes, evacuation. Woman worked in the munitions factories often left with severe health problems. Britain made huge sacrifices in that war as, we were there from the first to stop germany's expansionism, even although Hitler had no real wish to get into a war with Britain - LAurence Rees, Rise of The NAzis. Yes we did need help towards the end, our economy was crippled, our soldiers were dying as were civillians but to suggest that you saved our arse , takes away from the sacrifices that the British Nation made in that war. It also implies that we were incompetent but we were not. And I can tell you now that kind of arrogance, which I realise in not necessarily believed by all Americans, will earn you nothing but contempt and disgust from people over here. Not a good way to gain allies and further your cause.

The British people survived through the darkest days in Europe, they will not surrender again. I suggest you look at some staements taken from civillians and military alike during the war. The people of Britain have never allowed their way of life to come under threat and will not now, so stop scare mongering and leave us to worry about our own country.

Posted by: weefee [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 22, 2006 09:41 AM

"The British people survived through the darkest days in Europe" weefee

Sorry, but most of England, in fact most of Western Europe has no recollection of WWII and the sacrfices. The education system has been run by politically correct socialist for the past 50 years. They have already surrendered, but don't yet know it.

We face the same fate here in the US if the dems come to power.

Posted by: phnxbmed at October 22, 2006 12:09 PM

Sorry I should have said we were fighting with the help of soldiers from former British colonies such as Pakistan, India, the west Indies, carribean, and Africa. Also Aussies and New Zealanders fought with us. Also not forgetting the poles, free french etc.

Kahn what kind of idea is that? That will really help win the war won't it? Lets turn everyone against us. You going to kill the women and old people too? What about kids of 16? Are they adults?

I know we could just kill everyone that goes against us, because that would be a democracy wouldn't it.

I like the way you think that stupid people are not American, you just keep winning yourself friends don't you. You honestly wonder why people in Europe get annoyed with Americans? I know that Americans can be the nicest most friendly people but small sections are just ignorant.

Posted by: weefee [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 22, 2006 02:14 PM

Posted by: phnxbmed:"...in fact most of Western Europe has no recollection of WWII and the sacrfices. The education system has been run by politically correct socialist for the past 50 years."

I can definitely say this is totally untrue for Holland. I was there for 6 days for the celebrations in May 2004 for the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Holland. The education system must do a fine job educating their youth of the WWII efforts for the school children took part and attended these gatherings.

Posted by: Canuckguy [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 22, 2006 10:48 PM

We learn about it from the first days of school. ANd would you st6op calling Britain England it IS NOT England. For all americans that don't know Britain is made up of four countries - Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England. Start remembering that because people get offended by being called English. I am not now, never have been and NEVER will be English.

Where do you actually find your info. We learn about the Blitz, the war, the road to war.etc I suggest you look at the tabloid press as well any time Germans are involved things like Gerry

Britain and the rest of Europe has not and will not forget, because we really suffered. If we had forgotton why do we still have VE and VJ celebrations, rememberance day etc. Not to mention there are still people who survived the war, saw the children crushed by bombs, lived through food shortages, served or worked in the factoreis.

We will never forget and if the Scots can rememer with pride battles we fought 800 years ago against the English I am damn sure we will remember one of teh Largest and most terrible wars.

Well if you think Margaret Thatcher was a socialist god help you. Britain is so proud of the war, it showed the uncrushable spirit of our people, and we are made to understand teh sacrifices tehy made. France is not proud of everything in the war, but they know the sacrifices made, they never forget the people in the resistance or the deportations from Drancy, The Germans will never forget the war either, while what the Nazis did to the Jews/Gypsies?homosexuals etc.was beyond description, the german people still suffered, the same as teh British people

How can Europe forget when the wounds from the war are just being healed. Europe as it is now is not that old, The Berlin Wall only came down less tham 20 years ago.
