You got it right in one, LNC. I have often commented on the fact that if you were to overlay Bush's politics over JFK's (Kennedy's, that is) they would line up very closely. I didn't invent that theory---it's been around for a while.
But the Dems have slid so far to the Left, they are now firmly in radical Socialist territory.
The entire political spectrum has moved to the left, which means that while the Republicans may not be the hard-core conservatives they are painted to be by the radical Left, they are still the moderate voice of American politics, while the Democrats are in a death spiral, rapidly degenerating into a radical national socialist party.
Which is why the only weapon the Left has had in its arsenal, the ONLY way they have kept what power they still have, has been gained by the blatant demonization of the Republican Party. There is a reason they can't argue on issues----they know that if they are honest about their issues and their agenda, they will scare off everyone but the fever swamp radicals.
I'm not a big Rush fan, but he is 100% right on this one---the Democratic Party cannot campaign on its true agenda, but have to pretend to be what they are not, if they are going to win. And that is a sure path to defeat---if not in '06, very soon after that. Because their true agenda is not pro-America. It is dark and murky and negative and hate-driven and anti-American, and has succeeded as far as it has only because of its skill in convincing people that our side is worse. But how long can you campaign on a concept that "They're Worse Than We Are"?
The Republicans put out issues, and the Dems respond with emotion. Icky, hateful, spiteful emotion. And I think the country is getting tired of it.
I'm listening to RUSH. I find it rather ironic that after diconcerting news on how the conservatives are going to get even with the RNC, that Rush is concerned about the left putting the wrong judges on the bench. These republicans entrenched in Washington didn't seem to care or even put up a fight during the Clinton administration when he loaded every bench with liberal judges. I continue to hear from the conservative talk show hosts that by not voting we would be in danger of more liberal judges legislating from the bench. It's rather hypocritical to suggest that somehow it would be the voters fault. I have been voting a republican ticket ever since I had the right to vote. Not this time. Where were these guys on protecting the border, dealing with the 30 million illegal aliens not to mention the spending in washington. The RNC is not conservative anymore. They are where the Dem's were during the Kennedy presidency. The RNC no longer represents conservative values.
"The RNC is not conservative anymore. They are where the Dem's were during the Kennedy presidency. The RNC no longer represents conservative values."
Okay, I'll buy that... but if that is the case, then where are the dems now? You may consider the Republicans merely the lesser of two evils, but are you really willing to live with the consequences if you just blithely allow what you would consider to be the greater of the two evils to have control?
In a choice between "not so good" and "really awful", I'll still choose "not so good" any day.

I thank God for Keith Olbermann.
