Tell me one more time what the fiasco in Iraq has to do with our WAR on TERRORISM. Tell it to 65% of Americans who read and understand the findings of the 9-11 commission. Tell me how things are going to change for the better. Tell me VICTORY is just around the corner. Tell me what we have done right here at home to make us safer. Tell me again what the British General seems to understand that you don't. Tell me where the missing 9 billion dollars went. Tell me again how you and W "think" its just 30,000 Iraqi's and not 100,000. Tell me again where the WMD are. Tell me again how were going to extricate ourselves from Iraq and not go on and on and on and on. Tell me again how freedom takes time. Tell me again the Iraqi government was and is going to remain elected by the people and for the people.
again.

We did not go to Iraq to fight terrorist. Remember, Saddam refused to cooperate which led to us taking him out. Were you sick that day or just thick headed? It is the terrorist that are keeping us there. We did not want this but this is what we have. Are we supposed to just abandon them?

Raker,
Of course they can't tell you those things. They are simply unaware of the failures of this administration. How bad does it have to get before they notice? I am not sure; it's just amazing that there would be anybody left who still things that Bush is even remotely competent.
His own advisors are now letting on that this presidency is nothing more than a joke. Mark and Matt don't notice, of course.
Sometimes I read through these posts and think that the whole "blogs for bush" site is just a twisted liberal joke, similar to The Onion. Nobody could be as that ignorant, except us, who have been buying it for years. Imagine our surpise when Matt and Mark finally anounce that they are really liberals and this whole site has been a joke from the beginning. Seriously, nobody really thinks that Bush and company are fighting terrorists, they can't even win a war in an impoverished desert wasteland.
Get this--"Bush gets it"! He does? Too bad he didn't "get" Osama Bin Laden instead. "Cheney gets it"! Oh really? What did he get, the clap?
No, Bush and Cheney, through incompetence no doubt, are helping the terrorists, and the public knows it. The Democrats, of all people, are now actually favored on the war on terror! Why? God knows The Democrats aren't exactly "military friendly", but the public is so fed up with 43 that they will actually prefer Democrats to Republicans in the war! What a sad state this country is in if the Democrats are preferred for anything military, but Matt and Mark can't argue (well, ok, they can, but not successfully) that there isn't any public's rage against the failures of this administration.
OK GUYS, the joke is up. ha ha, we get it. Tell you what...next thing they will be predicting that the Republicans are going to win the election! No seriously....stop it...

9/11 was FIVE years ago.
The war on terror NOW is being fought in Iraq. THEY even admit it. You dolt.
Posted by: Kahn at October 16, 2006 10:52 PM
So the liberal solution to "the fight against terrorism" is what Oliver? To give wackos like North Korea nuclear power plants? And to pull out of a fight that our enemies declare is central to their struggle?
It doesn't matter if YOU think so. Our enemies do.
THAT IS YOU PLAN? I hear your criticism - but your plan sucks. Have you REALLY thought about the ramifications of pulling out now? Oh what the hell, the dead won't be Americans.
Posted by: Kahn at October 16, 2006 11:10 PM
Kahn.
Here is the plan:
1 - Leave Iraq. The terrorists there will be in disarray for a while, having only themselves to kill.
2 - The Iraqi government will step up. They will have to. They did JUST FINE under the "leadership" of Saddam Hussein--they didn't need us. They will do so again, under "Saddam Hussein Jr." Not pretty, but the best we can do...after all, we have Bush on our side.
3 - take all 120,000 or so military who currently occupy Iraq and drop the on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Give them orders to Burn every frickikng poppy plant to the ground from there to Kabul. While they are at it, they can kill anybody they see who even remotely looks like a terrorist. There are no cameras in that mountainous region, hence no Abu Ghraib. If a few troops "get lost" and "accidentally" go south to Pakinstan, woo hoo. Pakistan won't notice, they've left OBL in peace. Get OBL and his brother AND the camels they rode in on.
4 - Stay in Afghanistan for 5 to 10 years. It will make a nice democracy.
5 - Head west...to Iran. Burn it to the fricking ground.
6 - DELCARE F***ING MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Bet you all thought I was a "cut and runner". Answer: I'm not. I want victory, not excuses.

Exactly. The Democrats' inability to comprehend this fact is one of the main reasons why Democrats are dangerous and should NEVER regain the Presidency or control of Congress.

Freedom1 et al
Didn't you read my post? Sitting in Iraq getting our arms, legs and heads blown off because THE TERRORISTS say Iraq is the "center" of the war. Since when do you taking marching orders from Terrorists? (No wait, don't answer that.)
NO, IRAQ is not the center. Not now. Not in 2001. Not in 2003. It has ALWAYS been Afghanistan. Bush and company LIED TO YOU (no, not about WMD) about the fact that Iraq was more important than the war on terror.
FOR THE LAST FRICKING TIME...THE TERRORISTS DO NOT SET THE AGENDA. Just because a terrorist says that Iraq is the center DOES NOT MAKE IT SO. Of COURSE they want us in Iraq, as we are pinned down and everybody is watching us.
WE WERE WINNING in Afghanistan, Before Bush and company let OBL go at Tora Bora, then we started a War in Iraq and started LOSING the WOT.
Bush INVITED the terrorists into Iraq. All in all, not really that bad of a strategy but it failed misserably because HE WASN'T READY TO FIGHT THEM THERE, THERE WERE FAR MORE OF THEM THEN HE COULD EVER IMAGINE BEING THERE and had WIZARDS like Rumsfeld to screw the war up beyond hope of a successful conclusion.
You guys, in your love fest with Bush, beleive every fricking thing he tells you. We are being bled dry buy this $#@$ and you don't have any problem at all with this.
Look guys, I'm sorry to shout at you but someone has to knock some sense into you. If a Democrat had done this YOU WOULD BE HOWLING LIKE RAVING LUNATICS AT THE DEMOCRAT LOSER WHO WAS LOSING THE WAR ON TERROR.
Now is it possible that there are Republicans out there that could kick the terrorists ass and stop screwing around in Iraq? The answer is UNQUALIFIED YES. But where the hell are they? McCAIN? Maybe. But he is in such a love-fest with the religious right that he DARE not contradict the right's favorite poster boy.
SO in the meantime we have a power vaccuum in Washington because BushBoy can't admit his mistake; and our troops keep running around in circles under the terrorists agenda while the terrorists sit back and use us for fricking recruiting posters, for crying out loud. And when we liberals say "fight the real war on terror in fricking Afghanistan" you accuse US of being terrorists...now what gives with that?
How long does this post have to be? Come on guys, the Democrats won't be in power forever. But in the meatime PLEASE support them and give them the power they need to get us the HELL out of Iraq and actually WIN the war on terror like we so desperately need to do, or as a consequence we will have to deal with ANOTHER 9/11 and OBL's evil attacks on our soveriegn nation.

Guys,
Sorry about blowing my gasket like that, but I really beleive that the war on terror is not going well. How would you feel if President Pelosi (shudder) was in charge of the WOT and invaded some God-forsaken place having nothing to do with it (say Australia) and we libs kept INSISTING that Austrailia was the most important thing since sliced bread.
What would you think?
OK, say I'm wrong. Say Iraq is NOW the be-all and end-all of the WOT. What would you do? Stay the course with no change until 2010? That is the Bush Plan. No changes. No increases. No decreases. No change in leadership. No change in funding. No tax increase to pay for it. No tax decrease to pay for it (using your logic). Nothing. Now Imagine President Pelosi (I promise, that's the last time I'll say that) proposed EXACTLY THE SAME THING. Would you still think it's good? Or would it suddenly become really scary?
Please be honest. We need to win this war.
Appologies again for losing it.

Jim,
But the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is virtually empty. OK, so maybe Osama is there and I'd like to see him swing from a rope. But, leaving Iraq will RIGHTLY be perceived as a victory for the Islamic extremists. Iraq is where they ARE operating. It is where they HAVE stated they will defeat us.
There are barely any in Afghanistan (by comparison). And without support from (ta ta ta da!!) NUCLEAR Pakistan we can only do so much. Being landlocked, you've got to fly over sombody to get there. And supplying 120,000 troops is NOT done with airplanes.
Nope - it is dangerous and reckless to do as you say. It is also a pipe dream because NONE of the Democrats running for either house is advocating that. They will actually just kinda mill around in Iraq without a plan. Some were claiming they would cut funds. Cut funds? To troops in the field fighting a war? I don't think so.
So - you are advocating voting for a Party that does not publicly advocate your positions and won't be able to execute on them. By refusing to state a position, the Democrats let anyone, heck EVERYONE with a strategy or anger at Bush to see their plans reflected in them. Meanwhile.... they are NOT saying what you are. Even Murthas plan has no relation to yours. He wants to "redeploy" to Okinawa. Got a map? It will need to be a big one.

Yes, I did. I couldn't disagree with your plan more strongly. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you don't even understand the War on Terror/Islam.
"Say Iraq is NOW the be-all and end-all of the WOT."-Jim Oliver
It isn't. It's just ONE MAJOR FRONT of the WOT/Islam. The other fronts are: America, Europe, Australia, South America, Canada, Indonesia, Asia, Mexico, Russia-in short every place on Earth except Antartica-everywhere Islam and Muslims are is a front of the Global War on Terror/Islam. Here's a partial casualty list: ReligionOfPeace.com
Until you understand that the GWOT is a war between Islam vs. the rest of the world, you will never understand how to WIN it. President Bush does understand it.
Posted by: Freedom1 at October 17, 2006 01:07 AM
President Pelosi....Pull eeeze. Jim is right we do have to win this war. We have to win in Afghanistan, we have to win in Iraq; we have to somehow defeat N. Korea, and Iran also. As much as I hate to say it we are in WWWIII, and the very existence of civilization is imperient that we win. What scares the hell out of me is to allow something as important as winning the WOT to Nancy Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Conyers, and the rest of the Socialist Left. They think that we can negotiate and talk to the Islamists and I have said here before, the only thing the Islamists are interested in is converting us to Islam or loping off our heads.

Posted by: Kahn at October 17, 2006 01:12 AM
Well, this is my first post ever. I'm sick of watching the news, Fox, CNN, Fox, CNN, etc - then switch to MSNBC and - oh no - that stupid prison stuff again. And Glenn Beck ? Wow - it's getting scary out there. Am I nuts or is he the fruitiest nutcake we've ever seen ? And the ideas he has are even scarier. I'll admit I enjoyed his radio show, but then seeing him on TV scared the daylights out of me.
So - maybe my ideas are scary too. But -
#1 - don't go telling the world that this is World War III. That's just plain stupid. If our enemies had an army (with uniforms) and a country (with a capital) this would be easy. But they don't. And they don't and never will again, play by our rules. (that would be stupid of them)
No - they have learned how to defeat us, making monkeys, (or Monkees) of us in the process. No wonder they think we are stupid and shallow.
If they can trick us into bombing civilian populations and making life miserable and hopeless for the average citizen, they will win. I thought we learned this in Vietnam. Believe me - they are tricking us. We have done exactly as Bin Laden hoped, including re-electing W - best recruiting tool he ever had.
And about Vietnam - remember "Vietnamization ?" Look it up and you will notice some striking similarities to Rumsfeld's current plan. Do you also remember our people being evacuated from the roof of the embassy in Saigon ? By helicopter ? Rummy should remember this himself.
So - how do we win ? Crazy idea #2
Remember Bush's finest 1/2 hour ? That speech to Congress after 9/11 - truly brilliant. When he said that those countries and leaders that harbor terrorists should be treated like terrorists, he really nailed it. Unfortunately he has not lived up to those words. Maybe he really meant that if you supply Hezbollah with missiles we will kill your women and children ???? And bomb the supermarkets, apartment buildings, etc. ?? (I realize I'm getting on the Israelis here, but stick with me for a minute. After all we need a united front with the Israelis about these matters.)
We had 2 amazing opportunities recently, when the Iranian president and one of the big mullahs visited New York. Forgive me for not naming them but my spelling is not that great, and those names are kinda tricky.
Bush won't talk to them and tried not to bump into them in the men's room at the UN - thank you Maureen Dowd. Instead maybe HE SHOULD INVITE THEM TO THE WHITE HOUSE !!!
That's right - bring them down to the basement and show them the top secret stuff. Sit them down in a comfy chair in front of the big plasma and show them the bird's eye view of their summer home or palace, or whatever they cherish. And say "Okay - here's the telephone. Call off Hezbollah or your palace will be gone in 36 minutes - live, while you watch."
We know they will never defeat us. (even if Hannity, Beck, Savage and Limbaugh try to scare us into feeling truly threatened) BUT THEY THINK THEY CAN DEFEAT US. I repeat - we KNOW they will never possibly defeat us, but they will keep trying if they think we are weak. And if they keep trying ............... well, you know.
Take them to NORAD, on a Naval maneuver, SAC base - show them the real stuff. And then let them know it is aimed at the leaders, not their innocent civilians. SIT THEM IN FRONT OF THE PLASMA and let them see the targets. And how quickly we can switch targets. Remember that is what scared Qadaffi. These guys want to live and enjoy their lives. So did Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Saddam, and so does that nut job in Korea.
But they trick us or make cowards of us by getting us to bomb Baghdad or Lebanon.
So let's get rid of the Church amendment, get some allies with us (oh sorry, W screwed that one up) get the UN behind us, (whoops again) and get the party started.
KILL THE BAD GUYS and help the civilians - you know - BIG STICKS and Juicy Carrots.
Let's be smart about it.

Guys, guys, guys.......the GWOT is exactly that! The GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM. It is not specific to one country(afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc.), it is not specific to one government. It is an Ideology of hate, and the extremist are in many countries.
We went to afghanistan to punish & rid the world of the taliban for aiding & abetting Al-queada. We(soldiers) destroyed alot of Al-quaeda in afghanistan and those that weren't destroyed hid well or went to IRAQ!
We went into Iraq for it's WELL KNOWN history of terrorism(it's own people as well as countries surrounding)! We went into Iraq for it WORLD REKNOWN weapons programs! We went into Iraq for it's WELL KNOWN rejection of many U.N. RESOLUTIONS. We went into Iraq because WE(THE PEOPLE) felt Saddaam was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. It wasn't Bushes fault 90% of the country agreed with him and most of the world!
We (THE PEOPLE) need to have the guts to stick it out when the going gets tough!!! Not point the finger like we live in some kind of dictatorship!!!
Some terrorists were there when we arrived, some came after. They are tough, they fight without rules, without respect, without conscience! They will not go away anytime soon. We must STICK IT OUT! If we do not, they WILL bring the war to our streets & a liberal is as much an Infadel as a Christian!
THE ONLY WAY WE WILL LOSE THIS BATTLE IS BY TUCK TAIL AND RUN, as our liberal friends would have had us do from the very beggining! Make no mistake, they(jim, OA, CF, CO, Axis, Ash, Willy, etc.)have not changed there minds in the least. Not because of circumstances, not because of unpopularity, not because Michael Moore & Babbs told them so. They had their minds made up long before the Twin towers came tumbling down. There is no room in liberalism for a strong defence, they are all about tearing down the walls(no matter what the consequence), save the people(even if it does bankrupt you and bankrupt them), stop the Iraqi's from Dying(even if it means dying under another Saddaam), Let the middle east run rampant with inhumanity(as long as we can go take pictures of it), blah...blah...blah!
LIBERALISM advances nothing but HUMAN STAIN!!!
Posted by: bearmanUSMC at October 17, 2006 01:43 AM
Guys,
I get that we are in WWIII against radical Islam. What I don't get is why it is OK to lose. The "President Pelosi" crack is just my way of letting you guys know how the majority of Americans feel about Bush.
Please, can I ask a question of a conservative:
A majority of Americans, in several polls now, think that Democrats can do a better job than the Republicans on the war on terror. This is not liberal drivel, like so much that is posted here. It is repeatable. It is definite. Even if it's 50/50 or so it is still WAY more than it use to be.
So my question to you: Doesn't it make you wonder, even the tiniest bit, why on Gods green earth would the Democrats be winning those polls? Surely "President Pelosi" is a joke. But like it or not many (or most) people in this country think that the party of Pelosi is better fighting the war on terror than the party of Bush. Doesn't this make your skin crawl, even a little?
And please don't reply "I don't beleive in polls anymore". It is real. Americans have lost faith in the Republicans and the Bush plan for the war on terror.
I beleive that the average American thinks we are losing. You can call me a troll, idiot, lunatic, appologist, etc but doing this won't change the war, or the attitude of the electorate.
Do you guys really want the Democrats running this war? If so, keep doing exactly what you are doing, because you guys, by your 100% devotion to Bush, are the ones who are putting Pelosi and company in power.
It's not us libs, it's not KOS, it's not Soros, it's YOU. You guys, with your rediculous devotion and unquestioning attitude toward Bush that is going to put Pelosi third in line from the presidency. This is not a joke. She litterally will be third in line. And it won't be the libs that put her there.
Had Bush fired Rumsfeld 3 years ago the Dems would be nowhere. Had bush made only a fraction of the mistakes he has made the Dems would be nowhere. But they are slated to take over the House, and possibly the Senate as well, and a good chance the Presidency in 2008. And the ONLY reason that this is so is the mistake of invading Iraq and distracting this great country from the war on terror.
I promise to shut up now (maybe I should have done this 5 posts ago). Please guys, I don't mind if you hate me all day long. I really don't. But if you really care for this country, PLEASE make the Republican party stronger by holding George Bush accountable for the war. You are right that this war is going to go on for a long time, and the Dems aren't likely to be the ones winning it. But this country is making its anger known in 2006. Even if you can't salvage 2006, pick a good candidate in 2008 and please hold him (or her) accountable. If the Dems win again in 2008, I know you guys will hold them to the fire and throw them out if they screw up. But please do the same to the Republicans and don't let them get away with the same things that Bush has done. The war, our lives and our freedom are much too important to let that happen again.
Like I said, I'm shutting up now. Please..think about it.
Posted by: Jim Oliver at October 17, 2006 01:52 AM
Truth be known, it goes back farther than the 1980s and 1990s. It goes all the wy back to Viet Nam and how the anti-war left snatched defeat from victory there.
Nearly every North Vietnamese Officer involved has stated, at one time or another, the American anti-war left wasn't just helpful in their victory, they were "essential."
Al Qaeda is following the example set by the North Vietnamese, just keep inflciting casualties and let the anti-war left divide the country enough that we surrender.

Jim Oliver,
First of all, don't believe anything you read about a poll. Pollsters can, and do, design questions to get the answers they want. They also choose sampling populations to meet their agenda. How else can you explain that Republicans control the White House, House of Representatives, the Senate, most Governorships, and state legislatures, yet the poll samples are 40% democrats, 30% republicans, and 30% independant. Finally, when you have 80% of the print and broadcast media banging the liberal drum 24/7, those who don't take the time to peal back the bias in journalism and easily swayed by what they see on NBCABCCBSMSNBCCNN and read in the NYT.
Now lets talk about the GWOT. Radical Islamo-Fascists declared war on the Western World a couple of decades ago. For the first 20 years or so, we did little to defend ourselves. We ran when they bombed the barracks in Beruit. We ran when 19 Americans died in Mogadishu (which was, by the way, a military success). We did not strick back after the WTC was bmobed in 1993, or when the Khobar Toweres were bombed, or when our embassies were bombed or when the USS Cole was attacked. It took 9/11 and a President that realized that the Islamo-fascists had progressed from bombing buildings (which can kill 100's) to flying airplanes into skyscrapers (which can kill 1000's). The next step was for them to acquire some type of WMD and unleash it on us and kill in the 10,000's or 100,000's.
As many posted have pointed out, the GWOT is being fought on many fronts. Iraq is just one of them. But Iraq is unique in that we had a country that was under a Cease-Fire from Gulf War I and 17 UN Resolutions to COMPLETELY dismantle his WMD programs. We had a country that had used WMD against his own people and his neighbors. We had a country that had attemtped to assassinate a former US President. We had a country that was commiting acts of war by firing at our aircraft patrolling the No-Fly Zones. We had a country that had documented ties to terrorism - terrorists were being financed, harbored, and trained in Iraq. Saddam had the motive, opportunity, and means to provide WMD to terrorists. As the terrorist escalated their attacks against the West, we could not allow Saddam to provide them with his WMD to use against us.
The typical liberal reaction is that Iraq did not have WMD. That is a bold-faced lie. Saddam used poison gas against the Kurds and the Iranians. Even while the UN Weapons Inspectors were in Iraq (by the way, they were there to certify that Iraq had disclosed and destroyed their WMD, not to search all 169,234 square miles for the WMD), Saddam maintained his capability to produce WMD. Even though tens of thousands of WMD munitions were identified and destroyed, over 30,000 (by Iraq's admission and UNSCOM's reports) are still missing. Over 3,000 tons of WMD precursors are still missing (by Iraq's admission and UNSCOM's reports). Over 300 tons of WMD weapons quality chemicals are still missing (by Iraq's admission and UNSCOM's reports), including 1.5 tons of VX (enough VX to kill 150,000,000 people).
So the truth is that Saddam did have WMD. The question is: Where is the missing WMD?
As for the "War in Iraq", the "War" was won in less that three weeks back in 2003. What we are going through now is the stabilization process. This is where we have had our difficulties. Contrary to what the liberals have stated, we have adjusted our tactics. Our troops levels in theater are based on that the generals want, not what the politicans want.
We have a plan, help stabilize the country while the Iraqi Security forces are organized and trained and can provide security for the country on their own. Then we leave. Not before that job is done.

"He wants to "redeploy" to Okinawa."
Wrong...read his resolution and show me where it says Okinawa? It doesn't and you'd see that if you actually read it. It says 'in the region.' leaving it quite open for debate as to where the troops should be redeployed. He 'suggested' Japan but I agree with you ,its too far. But lets focus on that, rather then the actual resolution that many Republicans are starting to tout as their own. Does that make them 'cut & runners'?
Posted by: Morphie at October 17, 2006 01:37 PM
Morphie,
It may not be in his resolution, but its what he said in an interview.
He sounds like a senile old fool (that's coming from a fellow former Marine).
Its almost as close to redeploy them back to the states as it is to Okinawa.
Now if he had said to Europe or Great Britain, his suggestion might have some validity. But when he said Okinawa, he proved how out of touch he is with reality.

We are in Iraq for a couple reasons. One was the Neutralize Saddam and his UN cheating regime. Second was that we are in a fight against Radical Islam.. not "Al Queda" .. Al queda is just a stupid name for radicals... they have a lot of stupid names for there various terror groups. We know have a tactical position to draw in scum from the surrounding countries and kill them.
The ENEMY want to choose the battlefield... Afganistan. which is an empty stupid pile of rocks. But BUSH choose the battlefield.. turning the tables on the enemy. Sorry but you liberals that have no real military training need to now you can't just go on CNN and give Radical Islam a full tactical battle plan. That's moronic to even think that.

Spook... just exchange the letter "I" for the 1's and it spells out clearly.
keefer and I e-mail back and forth, and he originally got my e-mail address from a coded message that I eventually had to give him a hint to solve, so yes, DM, I was just jerking his chain.
No, canuck, the end of the Cold War was what prompted my retirement after 24 years. The NSG had a huge surplus of 04's and 05's in 1989.

I guess I'm afraid of the Democrats because I don't hear ANY of them spelling out a way to WIN. I hear about redeployment. I hear about blame. I certainly hear about hatred (of Bush). But I never quite hear what the plan is to win.
Posted by: Kahn at October 17, 2006 06:39 PM

Where is Dick's daughter in this war? Looks like she could carry a gun. I am sure dad taught her how to shoot. Where are the Bush twins? They are of fighting age. Yeah Dick gets it, big bucks for Haliburton on the deaths of someone elses kids.

Josh. One Bush daughter is working at an AIDS hospital in South Africa and the other teaches at a poverty school in Latin America (Honduras I believe). What a couple of slackers eh?
But - well I guess if you are advocating the position that daughters are property then the two Dads could ORDER them to pull out of the philanthropic work they are doing and to go fight.
Hey, we've seen you people attack family members before and know that you would make great little commissars because you would kill or imprison the whole families of anyone who dared challenge your views or who you hated enough.
What is you plan to win in Iraq?

Yeah and Bush & Chaney's plan "Stay the course" is a good plan. Not only has their "plan" been a complete failure, no matter how you slice it, but they can't even articulate anything that is any more than a Rovian sound bite.
The one thing we have over the terrorists is our adaptability. Staying the course is what the insurgents in Iraq want. They love the American shooting gallery that is going on now. What better way of getting the most from recruitment and training.
Open your mind and listen, there have been many good alternatives from the Dems. And remember Liberalism is what built this country; Conservatism is what keeps trying to drag it back to the dark ages.
Hate is not a family value! The family is not Halliburton. Just a little exercise for that old cranium, get it working. It will feel good. Try on a little free thought here and there. It might look good on you. You never know.
Try something other than the old Republican Cut and Run, cutting out the heart of America and running from the truth.

You're just 'joshin' right josh? Cause that take on the Cheney daughter and the Bush twins is real dumb on your part. It would have been more palitable if you perhaps suggested that "Hero Kerry's spoiled sons by Ta-ra-sa, could have signed up too, instead of using all those gas guzzling SUV's the whole family has, and all those
emissions from the 'private jets' the family uses.
Since you're looking for Volunteers, perhaps you could suggest the above to some of those issues, and while I'm at it, how about some of the spoiled

RAL - hard to make sense of your rants - but here goes...
John Kerry DID vote to go to war. Maybe not on TV, but in the Senate of the United States.
"Stay the course" is an interesting phrase. I think that they are always changing tactics in Iraq and Afghanistan, but yes the basic course of seeing it through to democracy has not changed.
Many many people here agree with you that it has not been great and mistakes have been made. Unlike you, they see this as a national problem and not an excuse to hate Bush more. Soooooo
What is YOUR plan to win in Iraq?
What is YOUR plan to win in Afghanistan?
Why should I care about your views if your plan is to ..... lose? I don't want to lose. I want to win. I'm looking for someone to help US win. (It is US you know.)

That's Ok though, Your not going to accomplish anything with the HATE and blame America attitude that you portray, try going and telling Osama bin laden your tripe of how you don't like America, You'll find out real fast who's side you'd rather be on!
No, the best thing you can do is stop your insane tripe, because God looks on you with disdain to the highest degree, and it's only fitting that you should give Him the Glory! the Honor, and Praise, for the freedom that you so desperately own and need!

I've just got one thing to say to you, Sir. You've got a long road to travel in understanding what the cost for your freedom means, and it would'nt be a bad time for you to consider the stance that YOU take, as WRONG, RIGHT NOW, and look toward the future with a more steadfast hope, and assurance in the GOP as your protector of Freedom!!

Oh - and the military is highly conservative and Republican. The officer corps in all the services are almost completely Republican.
I wonder what the result will be if defeat is forced upon this group of skilled and brave (and armed) Republicans once again at the hands of a liberal press and a liberal population of big city dwellers. You do know that right? That the vast majority of towns, cities and counties are Republican and Democrats are almost all concentrated in the major cities? Maybe it IS time for a revolution.

Kahn, or was that Con, as in Com Job...
Once again nothing but righteous diatribe, sounds more like the Islamo fascists we are fighting than a civilized seeker of justice.
If you forgot to read the resolution passed by the senate and just read, probably more likely listened to Faux News interpretation of said resolution it was to authorize the president to go to war after all other options were exhausted, which they weren't. Not only were they not exhausted, but the senate and the congress were lied to about WMD and intelligence. Bush and his administration lied time and time again.
One of the big lies was that they had the same intelligence. All of the caveats and cautions had been gleaned form the intelligence. That would be like saying "You can drive thorough the intersection." is exactly the same as "You can drive through the intersection when the light is green."
Get over it Bush lied. Rove is a slime bag that thinks the ends justify any means. The United States is in one of it's darkest times. We will be paying for the Bush legacy for generations to come, that is assuming we can change direction and recover form it.

Can I point out that yes Saddam had WMD's in the 80's when he massacred a million Iranians, funny thing was no one complained then. Oh yeah we supplied them - we being Britain, America, France, Germany. Oh and the Americans gave them intelligence infomation so they could kill more of those nasty Iranians. D'ya wonder why they hate us all? There was no evidence at all that he had any now why do you think Hans Blix and his team wanted more time, for a Holiday in the Desert?
What links to al'quaeda does Saddam have? Let us think - eh none. He was reasonably secular, he was an Arab Nationalist not an Islamic Fundamentalist. The denomination of Islam that Osama belongs to - Wahabbi he hated them they were worse than Shia's in his opinion, they were tortured and massacred like the rest. He kicked kohemini out the country (sorry about spelling). He hated the president of Syria, hardly lining up 2 be best buds with the other terrorist nations named is he?
As for flouting Un resolutions he's not the only country is he? I can think of at least one which is flouting UN resolutions and has very recently destroyed another country!
His human rights abuses were terrible that is never in doubt. However if we look at past history we have no right to intervene. We put in power Pinochet, Pol Pot, Suharto .... and the list goes on. We all know how loving and kind they were. The point is we shouldn't be there because there was no proof of WMD, his "terrorist" links were dodgy at best, the Occupation amounts to a pre-emptive attack, which is illegal under International Law, although the coallition forces aren't the only ones do tthat - I can think of another country thats done it before.
I think its time if you want to see the hell Iraq has become since our misguided Illegal Invasion, that you watch a news channel other than Fox News, you might find out some nasty home truths if you do. Like the fact Iraq is now facing a civil war, coallition forces are just going to keep getting attacked and killed and right now there is nothing that can be done about it, and the more innocent people we kill the more we will get killed.

Which part of my history are we disagreeing with here?
The Fact that during the Iran- Iraq war the West courted Saddam and helped him? The fact we knew he was gassing the Iranians?
Or maybe you object to the Idea of us putting Dictators in power and propping up their regimes? Like The Shah in Iran who commited huge human rights violations and offences? The fact Germany, the US and the rest of the west helped supply his former WMD
"The Committees report informed the US congress about government approved shipments of biological agents sent by American companies to Iraq from 1985 or earlier. These included Bacillus Anthracis which produces Anthrax, Clostridium botulinum, Histoplasma capusulatum, Brucella melitensis, Clostridium perfringens and Escherichia coli. The same report stated that "the US provided teh governement of Iraq with Dual Use licensed materials which assisted in the development of Iraqi chemical, biological, and missile-system programs, including ....chemical warfare agent production facility plant and technical drawings, chemical warfare filling equipment..."
That's a quote from Robert Fisk who has reported on the middle east for years, he lives in Lebanon and condems all sides in every middle east conflict he reports on. This guy has seen it all and this quote is from his book "The Great War for civilisation, The conquest of the middle East"
I dunno what you don't agree with but I would say it pretty much sums up the middle East, the West screws it up and then we leave them fighting themselves and us. This disastorous
Posted by: weefee at October 18, 2006 11:04 AM
weefee - my problem with you post is that it is very incomplete. You tie together things that are years and sometimes decades apart. You make claims about support and selling WMD components with elaborating and going into detail.
How’s this for some added detail (though I admit it will be lacking also).
We did not put Sadaam in power. He was the last man standing in a viscous "king of the hill" battle within Iraq. He was a bastard - but you're right, we didn't care.
Did we help direct the Shaw of Iran into Power? Well actually his father in the ‘50’s? I guess. So? I don’t know about all these “atrocities you claim”. I mean I know that the ruling family milked the oil money – but I don’t remember them being all that bad otherwise.
I DO remember having to fly electronic reconnaissance missions over that Godforsaken country after the Revolution and the subsequent taking of our Embassy (under Jimmy Carter). They pretty much declared them selves to be our enemies and have actively worked to attack us and even kill us ever since.
When Iraq and Iran went to war, frankly we didn’t care that much. It is hard to answer critics who are mad at us for being involved too much and not enough at the same time – point? Sadaam hadn’t gotten his weapons from us however. He was using eastern block weapons. T-55’s, T-72’s Migs and SU’s, AK’s and RPG’s etc.. Both Iran and Iraq turned out to be awful at fighting and their war settled down to a static trench warfare thing. We stayed pretty neutral.
UNTIL that is, the Iranians redefined the war as a Jihad and built an Army of Jihadists that started kicking Iraq’s butt. We still didn’t get involved that much – until they attacked an American ship in the gulf killing a bunch of sailors. At that point, we sank half the Iranian Navy and chopped up their Air Force, and helped Sadaam mostly with accurate satellite intelligence. He still used almost all eastern block weapons. Yes – Sadaam used gas and he was a bastard. But at the time – Iran was claiming they were at war with us and we were at war with their Navy. Enemy of my enemy – get it?
Sadaam broke the Iranian offensive and it settled back into stalemate. Peace wasn’t declared until after Gulf one, I believe.
Then – Sadaam invades Kuwait. It took just about everybody by surprise. There was a complex calculation of power and alliances that led to us leading the effort to kick him out. The situation in the gulf between wars is worthy of a book and not a short blog entry. Suffice it to say that after numerous violations of UN resolutions Sadaam managed to make most of the rest of the world believe he had WMD’s. Even some of his own generals thought he did. He apparently thought the threat would scare us off. Oh well, this point can and has been argued to death and I doubt we’ll agree.
My point is that you spit venom at the United States and the west without really digging into the details. Whether you don’t care or are just looking for justification I don’t know.
My questions to you are:
What is your plan to win in Iraq?
Is your plan reflected in the statements of Democratic politicians?
What is your plan to win in Afghanistan?
Is your plan reflected in the statements of Democratic politicians?
Think you can put the venom aside for minute? Maybe come in out of the sun and put an ice pack on your head? WHAT IS YOUR PLAN?

As your history instuctor I give you a D for incomplete research.
You should learn history before attempting to grade others on it, kiddo. For example, the Dixiecrats and the Southern Strategy. You've failed that test numerous times. Considering the answers don't change (despite GOP efforts to the contrary), it looks really bad for you to fail the same thing over and over again.
Try not to choke on your bile.

I never said we put Saddam in power, I mentioned The shah, Pinochet, Pol Pot and suharto, who we all aided and abbeted. I'll go into more detail later I have no time just now.
The Americans onnly issued a weak satement when the Iraqis bombed one of their navy boats, All points can be found in "The Great War For Civilisation The Conquest ofThe Middle East" by Robert Fisk the point is the whole Middle East is just tit for tat.
My plan to win in Iraq? God only knows, that place is a hell hole, I don't think there is going to be a winning situations, bodies are just gona keep being found. Although Hearts and minds might help a bit, it worked in The South and killing people needlessly will not help our cause
My plans are not reflected in Democrats statements, sadly being on the other side of the Atlantic I don't listen to either Democrats or Republicans, however I do think that when a top serving military General tells you that coallition forces are making it worse you should believe him, him knowing exactly whats going on and all that.
My plan for Afghanistan is simpler, more troops. Dunno bout US troops but our troops are stretched beyond reasonable limits. It is going to be hard, but we need to destroy the poppies.
My plan is in line with hundreds of Brits and members of Parliament and teh army apart from "Lord" Blair. Who actually is really your equivalent of a democrat he is more left wing, well his party is more left wing, although right now he's doing a good impression of Maggie.
Posted by: weefee at October 19, 2006 02:14 AM
I am not anti-west or anti-american. I am just teying to put forward another side of the argument and sadly there is no sun here, Winter has begun.
Do you not think that it would hve been a good Idea to sort out the Palastine Conflict first? That was the cause celebre for many terrorists before Iraq. It would have had to be done in a fair way though because otherwise any agreement would not have been accepted by both sides. We can't seem to support one side against the other otherwise how will a diplomatic soloution be reached?
And we can't use the flouting of UN resolutions because we turn a blind eye in some cases, how is that going to make everyone play nice?
Posted by: weefee at October 19, 2006 02:41 AM
ok I have the evidence of the Iraqis bombing The Stark. Robert Fisk again I know at the moment all my evidence is from him but it so happens I am reading his book at the moment.
"Captain Glen Brindel and his crew were used to Iraqi jets flying over them. Iraqi aircraft, he was able to tell journalists later, were deemed friendly. ...... It was a lookout who first saw the rocket skimming the surface of the water towards the ship and telephoned Brindel. Two seconds later, the Exocet punched into the stark at 600mph...More than a sixth of the frigate's crew were to die in less than a minute..."
And here is what Casper Weinberger, then secretary of sate said about it
" The Iraqi piolot he said apparently didn't care enough to find out what ship he was shooting at"
Then Reagen blamed it on Iran, how it is their fault I have no idea it was after all the Iraqis who started the war in 1980, set up the maritime exclusion zone in 1984 but
The Shahs torture evidence I have. Again from the Robert Fisk book. THe Shahs police/Interrogation squads were called Savak but the quote is way too long for me to include that part.
" And how could one argue with that when reporters like Derek Ive of the associated Press had managed, very briefly, to look inside a Savak agent's house just before the revolution was succesful? ..... But downstairs there were cells. In each of them was a steel bed with straps and beneath it two domestic cookers. There were lowering devices on the bed frames so that people strapped to them could be brought down onto the flames. In another cell I found a machine with a contraption which held a human arm beneath a knife and next to it was a metal sheath into which a human hand could be fitted. At one end was a bacon Slicer. They had been shaving off people's hands. Ive found a pile of human arms in a corner and in a further cell he discovered pieces of a corpse floating in several inches of what appeared to be acid."
That will do me for tonight I think, enough death and destruction for one night.

That is what I would expect from a Bush lemming without any thought process of their own. How very thoughtful and insightful.
You want a plan other than the Bush no plan, plan. For starters I would review all the folks that are in charge, getting rid of all those that were put in their positions for their blind following of this administration with no account given to ability to do the job. I would start listening to the people who had been there and done that and start listening to the commanders on the ground and not end their career just because they didn’t agree with me.
I would fire Rummy as he is an incompetent micro manager that wastes his people’s time answering the thousands of snowflakes.
That’s a start and it is light years ahead of anything Bush, Cheney or any of their ilk have come up with. I’d also make Halliburton repay it’s $9 billion slush fund, then we could start equipping the troops like they should be equipped. Or put more money into alternative energy so we would not have to be in the Middle East for their oil.
Your powers of observation are shown here to be totally lacking. I guess that is why you are such a red headed neo-con. Never mind the world; I’ve got it all in my head… I never said anything about immediate withdrawal.
Unfortunately George and company have broken it in the US’s name so according to my standards (certainly not the Republican’s) we are bound to fix it. That is if it is possible after having been so miserably mishandled and fouled up.

You dolt.
Saying that GWB or Cheney have a CLUE about fighting this GWOT is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...
The economy being as good as it is right now is ALL they have going for them...
But to say that Cheney 'gets it' is a joke...
Yes, Cheney gets it. Thank God!

Jim you are a lunatic terrorist apologist! Lucky for you, that's probably the last thing I'll ever say to you.
Raker, listen in son, we never stopped telling you again......and again.......and again! Your like my 5 yr. old son on the soccer feild....accept I love him!
Freedom & Jer., I voted absentee today! Republican, straight down the right! We'll see if it helps any, here in Ca. God bless you two and pray out the voters!!!
Jeremiah,
Glad to "see" you, too! I hope that Rev, AAR, Almiranta, keefer and others show up soon to help the Republicans return to victory on Nov.7! Later!
:P
BearmanUSMC-"I voted absentee today! Republican, straight down the right!"
Terrific! That's what I plan to do also, on Nov.7! Go Republicans! GO USA!
Guys,
Sorry about blowing my gasket like that, but I really beleive that the war on terror is not going well.
" I voted absentee today! Republican, straight down the right! We'll see if it helps any, here in Ca. God bless you two and pray out the voters!!!"
Great!!Wonderful!! Let's keep up the good fight, cause we're gonna win this war!!
God bless you, BearmanUSMC!!
Jeremiah
Jim,
But the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is virtually empty.
"Freedom1 et al-Didn't you read my post?" Posted by: Jim Oliver
They think that we can negotiate and talk to the Islamists and I have said here before, the only thing the Islamists are interested in is converting us to Islam or loping off our heads.
http://www.standardprofit.com/worlddata/maps/physical_world.shtml
here's a good one...
"the only thing the Islamists are interested in is converting us to Islam or loping off our heads." Posted by: arcman
Yup.
Guys,
I get that we are in WWIII against radical Islam.

Good post, BearmanUSMC, especially this:
"We must STICK IT OUT! If we do not, they WILL bring the war to our streets & a liberal is as much an Infadel as a Christian!"
Were you sick that day or just thick headed?
Tom, you must be new here--Raper13 is sick and thick-headed every day!!! Re-read his post--it's all DNC talking points, no originality whatsoever. Raper13 is a dork--ignore it.
Settle down, Jim, everything will be okay. We can't win the war on terror without victory in the most important battleground, Iraq.
All of your rants about destroying poppies, blowing up Afghanistan/Pakistan, and Iran? Who would approve of that? The American Left, i.e., the DemocRAT party? The U.N.? C'mon, dude, they didn't even want us in Iraq.
Freedom1, keefer is still here, and has already decided to pull the GOP lever for all candidates. Also, Almiranta, AAR, and others--R23--are still here too. You know this, don't you?
Just so you peeps know--1H8L1BS...
keef
What I want to know, keefer, is did you just hit a bunch of random keys or does 1H8L1BS stand for something. I entered it into my Green Hornet Secret Decoder Ring and came up with zilch, heh.
Jim Oliver,
First of all, don't believe anything you read about a poll.
Spook... just exchange the letter "I" for the 1's and it spells out clearly.
Of course, your post could just be sarcasm in which case I apologize for MY ignorance.
Spook, you asked "does 1H8L1BS stand for something"
"I Hate Liberals"
Did they make you take early retirement?
"He wants to "redeploy" to Okinawa."
Wrong...read his resolution and show me where it says Okinawa? It doesn't and you'd see that if you actually read it. It says 'in the region.' leaving it quite open for debate as to where the troops should be redeployed. He 'suggested' Japan but I agree with you ,its too far. But lets focus on that, rather then the actual resolution that many Republicans are starting to tout as their own. Does that make them 'cut & runners'?
Morphie,
It may not be in his resolution, but its what he said in an interview.
Your pretty funny Kanuckgay, A guy talking about retirement but he's going to spend the rest of his misersable little life supporting the government for his cause! Bwahahahaaaaaahaaaaaaa!
Somebody's deep in denial...
And you liberals who are counting on the Democrats to "pull out" just aren't paying attention. The party YOU should be voting for is the GREEN party. They actually seem to be in synch with some of the more lefty wackos posting here.
"Almiranta, AAR, and others--R23--are still here too."
1H8LIBS,
Who are they? I can't seem to decipher who they are, please give me their names!

Where is Dick's daughter in this war? Looks like she could carry a gun. I am sure dad taught her how to shoot. Where are the Bush twins? They are of fighting age. Yeah Dick gets it, big bucks for Haliburton on the deaths of someone elses kids.
Bearman
--You lost me, does not compute. You laughing at me or what? And if so, why? And if so, bite me!!
What is your plan to win in Afghanistan?
I thought so. Care to attack MY children now?
"Where is Dick's daughter in this war?"
"Where are the Bush twins?"

"Kennedy's Camelot Kids"? Think about "your sides
volunteers, before you start to suggest kids in the GOP camp-at least they are out there doing good works-Not just living off the "Family Big Bucks and Name"
If Dick taught his daughter to shoot, I wouldn't want to go anywhere near her when she has a gun in her hand!!!
Once again, The Right just don't get it. Whoosh...right over their head. Or was that right in over their head.
It wasn't Kerry that wanted to go to war no matter what.
And if you want to see who is serving by far more liberals have kin in the armed forces than the ilke of George, just don't have the time to get my drug test or show up for duty, or Dick, Can't be bothered right now. Once again the chickenhawks show their colors, and they aint red white or blue.
And if you want to see who is serving by far more liberals have kin in the armed forces than the ilke of George"
Funny how you liberals always have time to 'fling dirt' on a man that has far more to save your sorry hide than any of the fascists who represent you, and by all means more than the likes of the terrorist administration that Bill Clinton ran!!
Just think about where you and all these fine American people would possibly be today if it had not been for God's hand of protection over you, by sending George W. Bush the Greatest President in United States history!
WAKE UP!! AMERICA!

Yah sure whatever RAL.
Better change the subject since I slammed you for attacking family members and pointing out that the military is overwhelmingly Republican.
What are your plans again? Missed THAT part of your post.
Do you REALLY think that the Democrats will just pull out of Iraq if they take the House and Senate? Can you quote any representatives, Senators, or candidates that say that?
Vote Green to end the war.
Or - just tell me:
What is YOUR plan to win in Iraq?
What is YOUR plan to win in Afghanistan?
Or - is winning out of the question now?

Like the fact Iraq is now facing a civil war, coallition forces are just going to keep getting attacked and killed and right now there is nothing that can be done about it, and the more innocent people we kill the more we will get killed.
weefee - As your history instuctor I give you a D for incomplete research. Go back to the books kid.
This disastorous
weefee - my problem with you post is that it is very incomplete.
And we can't use the flouting of UN resolutions because we turn a blind eye in some cases, how is that going to make everyone play nice?
ok I have the evidence of the Iraqis bombing The Stark.
