Bush Backs Hastert

AP has the story...

President Bush stood shoulder-to-shoulder with embattled House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Thursday, offering a powerful boost in his moment of need and declaring the country "better off" with Hastert in power.

"I am proud to be standing with the current speaker of the House who is going to be the future speaker of the House," Bush said as he opened a speech to raise money for two Illinois congressional candidates.

Good, now let's move on.... How about that Harry..... Culture of what now????

Posted by: Jenn at October 13, 2006 03:23 PM

Good job Mr President, after all, whats a little kiddie didling between friends right? Hastert has no problem with Congressman molesting their constituients' kids, good to see that Bush doesn't either. Nothing better than this to enrage and disgust all the evangelicals that helped get the GOP and Bush into power to stay home in November. Keep it up Mr President!

Went over to GOP Bloggers to chat about the Ney news. They seem to have blocked me. Chumps. But since that sight is run by the same CHARMING folks as this one, I thought I'd share the exchange I had planned.

In his defense of Ney, Margolis desperately points out how, after he's now plead guilty to his crimes, the GOP is itching to kick Ney out....AFTER the election. Then he posted this lu-lu:

“Democrats never condemned Cythnia McKinney for her assault of a police officer. Democrats didn't strip William Jefferson of his committee seat until a year after he was first learned to be under investigation for bribery, and only after video evidence of a bribe had surfaced. Ted Kennedy got away with murder. Jim McDermott has been protected for years by his party, despite his legal and ethical troubles. Byron Dorgan has remained on the committee investigating the Jack Abramoff scandal despite his own connections to the lobbyist.”

My response:

“Man, that is SO LAME. Let's review: Ney was finally threatened with explusion AFTER he plead guilty to a crime, but those Democrats...oooh, those nasty Democrats!... they didn't expel any of THEIR members who were, um...er... not convicted of anything.

Was Ney kicked out of Congress at any time in the past nine months after his criminal activity was first discovered? Nope. It was only after he went through the legal system that the Republicans finally distanced themselves from him.

So tell me: of all these Democratic criminals that the evil, nasty left is defending- How many of them have actually been indicted, much less prosecuted, much less found GUILTY of ANYTHING?

Would that answer be: zero?

Can't wait to read your reply.”

Guess I’ll never get one.

Hey, Cyberetard, what hole have you been living in? The DemoCRAPs go knee-jerk any time a member of the GOP is mentioned in the same sentence as the word "scandal."

According to your Fuhrer, Howie Deaniac, Karl Rove, Tom Delay, and Dennis Hastert are all criminals. And this was long before Delay was "indicted." These are but a few examples of how your non-issue party reacts, while my party chooses to let investigations take their proper course.

By "my party," I mean my elected officials in Washington. I, on the other hand, feel that Cynthia McKinney and William Jefferson are basically being given a pass, due to their race. Sandy Bergler was given a slap on the wrist for something that would've gotten me ten years in Leavenworth when I was in the USAF. But I wasn't one of Slick's crew. Now we have Harry Reid-tard, who is involved in a rather questionable land deal. He'll start whining about the "Republican smear machine," and receive a pass.

Get your head out of yer arse, Cybertool...

Actually Axis... YOU'RE A RETARDED IDIOT...oh...sorry... I mean Canadian.

First off, there is no evidence Foley actually slept with any page...so there goes your lame ass kiddie didling comment.

And I'll remind you the only member of the House who so far has EVER admitted doing it with a under 18 year old page was a Democrat who served for another 13 years as a Committee Chairman.

Explain to me how that's Bush supporting a man who was encouraging molesting of children?

It's people like you who GO apesh*t over a scandal for political purposes.

Bill Clinton raped Juanita Broaddrick.. .yet you get a chub everytime his name is mentioned... explain that one to me?

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 14, 2006 09:54 AM

williyosheep,
and born again chruchy bushy raped Margie Schoedinger, so explain your chub every time his name is mentioned,

I think it's just peachy how you sheep love to defend child molesters and rapists. can’t wait to hear how you're only upset with jim kolbe because he didn't invite you to his little camping trip.

hypocritical, lying, goose steeping sheep

-once again though…good for a laugh

wawilliyo,

Thank you for clarifying what ails conservatives today : They are morally bankrupt, which can be seen in your defense of a congressional sexual predator

Perhaps, one day one of your kids will be diddled by a teacher at his school. I can see the conversation you will have with the police;

"Officer, that teacher is a conservative so I find it impossible to believe that this is anything more than a case of friendly touching. Clearly my child has simply mis-interpreted these groping incidents. I insist that this teacher be allowed to continue to work with my child until such time as he is convicted."

To the people confused about the intensity of the furor about Foley – or Abramoff, or Ney, or Libby –

It’s about propriety.

Over the last 230 years the American government has gone from a president who was elected because he could not tell a lie to a senator who was re-elected because he hasn’t killed any girlfriends within the last 10 years. The honest politician has gone out of living memory.
20 years ago Newt Gingritch promised to end all that. He promised that the Republicans would bring back, not only honesty, but propriety.

Propriety: n. The quality or state of being proper; suitableness to an
acknowledged or correct standard or rule; consonance with
established principles, rules, or customs; fitness;
appropriateness; as, propriety of behavior, language,
manners, etc. "The rule of propriety," --Locke.
[1913 Webster]

The Republicans should have been first out the gate on Foleygate. Foley should have been expelled, along with Ney. Republicans should have been exposing the crimes, and insisting that their wayward member be punished.

This wasn’t done. Instead, things were done the Democrat way. The wagons are circled. Lies are told, spin is spun, and blame is not assigned nor accepted.

This may be enough for the Democrats, but The Republicans are supposed to be the good guys! You don’t flinch when a pothead swears, but when the priest curses, well . . .
You expect more from the good guys. Not the same, not average. More.
When the good guys start acting up, you lose hope. You start thinking Why go on supporting the best, when even the best of us feel the need to lie?

If the next election is lost, it will not because the Democrats are better. It will be because the electorate has lost sight of the difference between the two.
