Streisand Heckled For Concert Bush-Bashing

Looks like Barbra Streisand learned the hard way to just shut up and sing.

Streisand effortlessly crooned through a select repertoire of the hits she's amassed during her four-decade-plus career. But night's most riveting moment came during what was perhaps the only unscripted - and truly uncomfortable - episode in the three-hour show.

There was Streisand, enduring a smattering of very loud jeers as she and "George Bush" - a celebrity impersonator - muddled through a skit that portrayed the president as a bumbling idiot.

Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it got a bit too long, especially for a few in the audience who just wanted to hear Streisand sing like she had been doing for the past hour.

"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored during the sketch as she and "Bush" exchanged zingers. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it.

"Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!"

Aww... poor Babs.

The key here is "wild applause", Mark. So no, Barbra Streisand did not learn the hard way to just shut up and sing.

Just to be fair, she should have also done a skit with "Bill Clinton" (as Monica).

a skit that portrayed the president as a bumbling idiot

According to his critics, Bush is incredibly stupid, yet was also able to deceive everyone into wrongly believing that Saddam had WMD's. If Bush did indeed lie about Saddam having WMD's, it would mean that Bush and his people found out that Saddam did not have them, thus learning something in 2 years that Clinton and his people did not learn in 8 years. It would also mean that Bush was able to prevent all these allegedly smarter people from learning what he had learned, until we actually went into Iraq and were unable to find those WMD's. This would be a truly amazing deception somehow pulled off by a "bumbling idiot".

".....Once the outburst (which Streisand later apologized for) was over, Streisand noted that "the artist's role is to disturb," and delivered a message of tolerance before launching into a serenely beautiful rendition of "Somewhere." That put the focus back on what the audience came for — her voice, one of the greatest female instruments of her generation."

Typical republican hack. Only telling half the story and half the truth. How Bush like!

To be perfectly honest, I have never been too impressed with her talent even when she decided to "shut up and sing" -- and even less so on those occasions when she didn't.

Rico:
You and I agree on something. I'm not sure why so many people like her... the ONLY thing I've enjoyed her in (the singing is just horrible) was Meet the Fockers.

While Ms.Streisand has a beautiful singing voice,
she has felt that the fans of her singing CARE about her leftist political views. She is wrong,
as wrong as the was, about her importance in the Clinton times, when she visited the Whitehouse while Hillary was not present. Hillary, as I do understand, stopped Barbra from visiting the W.House, when she(Hillary) was NOT there. Seems that just as Hillary didn't trust her cheating mate, she didn't trust Streisand either. Seems Babs, was impressed with Slick Willy and the very
important feelings she had being one of the "many
to be invited to the Motel 8, that Clinton turned
the Whitehouse into". It made Babs, and the rest
of the Holly-woodheads, feel impressed with their own sense of importance, being a part of the inner
Clinton circle. Little did they know, that Slick
Willy, USED THEM to further his fundraising and his public image, garnering so much attention to himself with the MSM, and they are too dumb to see through him-cause they liked feeling "so important-The Clinton's have USED, and DUPED so many lackies, in their quest for power/mongering
and lining their own pockets.
and so useful to ole Slick Willy"...what a laugh!

I don't understand why a conservative would support babs.

You seem to miss the point, people can enjoy BS's...er...Barbara Streisand's singing without agreeing with her politics, why would she potentially alienate a portion of her audience who came to hear her sing? People pay $200 to get a disingenuous skit about the POTUS?

Why would she apologize while simaltaneously claiming that an artists role is to disturb; the artist disturbed as intended, so why the apology?

Why pick on Bush? Why not a more bipartisan subject such as Hussein or Chavez or Castro?

Why does Babs think that ANYONE gives a crapola what her political beliefs are, why do any of these airheads think that?

Not very "lady like," was she?

Any thoughts to the "heckler" was a plant? Could it be possible?

Future headline --- Barbra Streisand and the Dixie Chicks Cancel

Parts of their US Tour because of poor ticket sales. Look toward Canada to find new fans for their left wing political agenda.
