ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

October 07, 2006
More Proof That Everyone Hates President Bush

With the President supposedly supported by only Laura Bush and 1 out of 3 members of tbe Bush family and the Congressional GOP about to lose 976 seats next month, you'd think that a national day of anti-Bush protests would be a rather large thing, right? Well, think again:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hundreds of people called the Bush administration's policies a crime and held up yellow police tape in front of the White House on Thursday amid a nationwide day of protest against the president.

The 500 demonstrators were among many who gathered for similar events in more than 200 cities to protest Bush on issues ranging from global warming to the war in Iraq.

"We are turning the corner in bringing forward a mass movement of resistance to drive out the Bush regime," said organizer Travis Morales with the activist group World Can't Wait.

Some dressed in costume, including a hooded prisoner in an orange jumpsuit, a devilish rendition of President Bush and two grim reapers. One man wore a red cheerleader outfit with "Radical" emblazoned on the jersey.

Oh, yeah, the American people are finally "waking up" to the crimes and evil of President Bush...can you just feel the massive anti-GOP wave building out there? I remember how, yesterday, we all sat glued to our television sets as these massive manifestations of anti-Bush sentiment went on...as for me, the demonstrations were so effective that I'm switching my party registration to Green and advocating not just gay marriage, but polygamy as well...just to be sure I'm liberal enough...

Mark

It certainly took long enough for Americans to 'wake up'. I know the events of 9-11 had a devastating affect on the populace; however, with the debacle of the Bush regime, finally, they are awakening from this terrible slumber.

Posted by: Canadian Observer [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 05:03 PM

I was glad to see that the Canadian people were smart enough to get rid of the Liberal Party Regime too...

He'll be President until January 2009... you realize that right? There's nothing going to happen to him. Why... because if Republicans keep Congress... well... that's obvious... and if Democrats gain the House, they won't try to impeach him because they know 2008 they'd be kicked out of power again.

Pelosi has all but said this.
Even Rangel said on Fox News this week that he has no plans to SCRAP before they expire any of Bush's tax cuts. Why? Because they'd LOSE!

Just because you're a stark raving mad Liberal, it doesn't mean the majority of the Canadian people are, or even a third of the American people are.

You're just a tool. Why is it that you post here? Are you just proving my firm belief that there is serious USA envy in Canada and life is SOOO boring in Saskatoun or where ever you live off of the government that you decide to involve yourself in foreign political affairs.

Further, should I be as outraged at you as members of the Liberal Party were when they accused Conservatives in the US of assisting now Prime Minister Harper's campaign?

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 05:23 PM

"they are awakening from this terrible slumber."

My goodness you're a delusional wanker. Keep drinking the kool-aid and you will feel better.

Posted by: ZootAllure [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 05:25 PM

"I was glad to see that the Canadian people were smart enough to get rid of the Liberal Party Regime too..."

Smart?

It's funny how you guys need to proclaim Liberals are "stark raving mad" so you can avoid the debates which you would fail in. You guys are at the bottom.

I think people should be able to marry their guns. Is that liberal or crazy talk? Or, is it?

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 05:52 PM

A rip roaring total of 40 people showed up in Columbus,Ohio..in case anyone is not aware of it..this is a BIG city!!!
Bwaaaaaaaaaaah!
Little Green Footballs has a lot of pix posted from a number of these little gatherings..what a pathetic looking bunch of old washed up hippies..losers, and anyone who is below 35+ is only hoping to get l*id!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Xango Annie at October 7, 2006 05:53 PM

I don't think the kook observer realized that Mark's post was a hit on the small number that turned out.

500 people? Thats how many can fit on the average subway platform. There probably more people waiting in line for the elevator to ride to the top of the Washington Monument.

al'AP is going to have to do better than that

Posted by: Finn Grove [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:00 PM

Finn,

What I'm really upset about is that no one has made mention of my little joke in the first paragraph!

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:06 PM

Kahn,

You can marry your gun, but you'd have to practice "safe violence" by putting a condom over the trigger...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:09 PM

Canadian,

Do you hear us making definitive pronouncements on Canadian politics? Geesh - do you really think you understand the dynamics of American politics?

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:10 PM

Well, President Bush is polling pretty low--down to 33% job approval in the most recent found here:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/

but that's still not as low as the current Congress which is 31%, and even lower for the direction of the country at only 25% of the polled thinking it's headed in the right direction.

Posted by: Nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:14 PM

Hate to plug myself like this, but I went and checked out the Durham and Raleigh, NC World Can't Wait protests. Pretty lame: http://www.thepiratescove.us/?p=2927

Posted by: William Teach [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:24 PM

Mark, you told Canadian Observer "Do you hear us making definitive pronouncements on Canadian politics?"

Of course not. You guys have no interest nor knowledge of Canada but don't take that as an insult; that's just the way it is. And I accept that as a fact of life.

The only "definitive pronouncements" your gang of knuckleheads make about Canada is to deride the few rational comments made on this site. If it were not for Canucks (and Dutchie et al)occasionally injecting, this site would be totally pure bullshit.

wawillyo wrote:

Democrats won't try to impeach Bush because they don't see Cheney or anyone in the line of succession as being much different or any better.

Posted by: S.W. Anderson [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 06:43 PM

S.W.:

I'll bet you some serious cash that if Democrats take back the House and/or Senate, there will be a post on the Daily Kos or the D.U. that all they need to do is impeach Bush and Cheney and then they can take over the Presidency...

I'm sure Democrats aren't above trying to do what they couldn't do at the ballot box in 2000, 2002, and 2004. And that'd suit me just fine... it won't be another 40 years before there would be a Republican Majority again.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 07:34 PM

It isn't just Bush who's suffering, boys and girls. It's the Republican party in general. See the latest Newsweek polls? Oh, man. It doesn't get any better than this:

"Democrats now outdistance Republicans on every single issue that could decide voters' choices come Nov. 7. In addition to winning--for the first time in the NEWSWEEK poll--on the question of which party is more trusted to fight the war on terror (44 to 37 percent) and moral values (42 percent to 36 percent), the Democrats now inspire more trust than the GOP on handling Iraq (47 to 34); the economy (53 to 31); health care (57 to 24); federal spending and the deficit (53 to 29); gas and oil prices (56 to 23); and immigration (43 to 34).

And even if the Republicans manage to bail out their ship before the midterms, they'll have a hard time matching their one-time strengths to voters' priorities. A third of registered voters, 33 percent, say the single most important issue that will decide their vote will be Iraq; compare to 20 percent who say the economy and only 12 percent who say terrorism, which ties with health care."

Every issue, every single one, touted by the Republicans this year is a complete and utter loser.

Well done, guys. Well done.

Are these the same polls that said you'd win in 2000?

Are these the same polls that said you'd win in 2002?

Are these the same polls that said you'd win in 2004?

I wonder when you'll realize that polls aren't always right. And it's been proven that people aren't honest when answering polls.

Tell me, how was Mr. Kerry doing in those early exit polls in 2004?

There are 30 days until the election takes place, and that's a long time in politics.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 09:19 PM

"Cyberactor" - seriously.... we've talked about these types of things at nauseam on these boards. You obviously don't see what is going on here. I've seen it happen election cycle after election cycle. Hint.... about this far out in 1984... newsweek shows survey where Mondale will beat Reagan!

Reagan wins 49 states.

How 'bout 1996. newsweek shows clinton beating Dole by 24pts!.

He won by 7.

It should be so obvious by now. sheeesh...

Posted by: johnnn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 09:28 PM

Mark,

Let's be serious. Everyone doesn't hate Bush. I mean really, 33% of Americans approve of the job he's doing, or should I say not doing. Hate is too strong a word. Besides, he's always got you guys right? That should keep him happy.

Posted by: 3moreyears [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 09:57 PM

You all believe that Bush and the Republicans have the support of the American people today? Honestly?

Posted by: jonas at October 7, 2006 10:11 PM

"3moreyears" - I see you're not getting it either.

Posted by: johnnn [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2006 11:06 PM

Thank you Cyberactor for creating a post that actually gets up here.

So all these Republicans/Conservatives can see what's happening in reality. Further proof that Republicans are simply people with the mental health problem called Anti-Social Personality Disorder, and having this mental disorder use Psychological Projection constantly, and claim that we the Left are living in a "Alternate Reality" where "up is down and black is white". In fact it is clear that the Republican Party, Convervatives and the humans running this board are the ones living in an Alternate Reality.

Posted by: USA at October 7, 2006 11:28 PM

With so many unstable countries producing nuclear weapons and a declared terror war on ALL Westerners, we'd all better pull together. Remember, "United we stand, divided we fall."

The world situation is far too dangerous for us to be destroying each other for divisive political agendas(power).
The U.N. and endless negotiatons have not worked.
We need to stand firm for the principles of freedom and democracy or our way of life as we know it will be over.

Posted by: Duxelle at October 7, 2006 11:40 PM

More Americans support the impeachment of George W. Bush than that of Bill Clinton even at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Since Bush and his cronies have a stronghold on the House and Senate there will be no impeachment process even though the American people supporting it. To physically show our support in impeaching George w. Bush for his crimes place a black and red ribbon around a tree, your front door, your car maybe even on yourself. Lets get the message out there tell every one you know. The color red is for war and death and black because of Oil and deception.

Posted by: Eddi at October 7, 2006 11:51 PM

Eddie,

And just what exact shape is your tinfoil hat?

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 01:12 AM

Jonas,

Last time we had a vote, President Bush and the GOP scored a majority...polls don't govern the US, people do...we're going to have another vote in a little more than a month and while it won't completely reflect the full will of the people (it being a mid-term election), it will give a good indicator of public sentiment.

Now, if the Democrats were to score a majority, then we GOPers would have to think things over - and we would, and come back all the stronger in 2008...if, however, the GOP retains its majority, then that would indicate that the policies of the last 6 years are by and large supported by the American people.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 01:40 AM

Duxelle,

Excellent post! I agree.

Posted by: Freedom1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 02:15 AM

Duxelle... I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment. I'd bet that most of the conservatives that post here do, too.

Here's my question, though (because it appears to me that you're assigning the blame for the partisan sniping equally all around... and I apologize if my impression is wrong).

For those of us who want to stand together against the enemy... what do we do about those who are determined not to fight the enemy, and so fight those who want to deal with the real problems, thereby preventing or stalling any attempt to deal with those problems until it is too late?

Posted by: LNC [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 03:12 AM

World Can't Wait = Dirty F'in' Communists. 'Nuff Said.

Posted by: Macker [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 10:19 AM

Duxelle. I fully agree that we should unite. But can I ask who it is you are demanding should take the step towards uniting? Is it the Bush administration or the rest of the World? The Bush administration has taken a course entirely of its own with very few allies, demanding that the rest of the US and the rest of the World should follow them?
The majority of the US and the majority of the World believe this Administration has taken the wrong course. It's way past time for the Bush Administration and the GOP to unite with the rest of the world

BTW. The UN worked: Iraq had no WMD's and posed no threat to its neighbors.

Posted by: Willem van Oranje [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 10:28 AM

people are afraid to protest
they may use the voting booth instead

Posted by: pieislove@gmail.com at October 8, 2006 11:05 AM

The UN said Iraq had WMD. So did the French, German, and Russian intelligence services. So did the french, German, and Russian leaders. So did US Democratic leaders. Remember these words?

"If you do not believe Saddam Hussein with WMD is a danger, then don't vote for me." John Kerry

Posted by: William Teach [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 11:44 AM

William Teach says,

-"The UN said Iraq had WMD."

Not quite. If you remember, UNMOVIC was unable to find any evidence of WMDs, and in their March 6, 2003 report, UN nuclear inspectors expressed serious doubts as to the existence of an Iraqi nuclear program.

And let us not forget, no viable WMD program was turned up after the invasion either, confirming the predictions of those UN nuclear inspectors.

Posted by: other_nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 12:26 PM

Yet they still said they had the programs. And, I notice you ignored everything else I wrote. Why is that?

Posted by: William Teach [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 12:36 PM

William,

I don't care what John Kerry said, because I voted for Bush.

I don't what the democrats said, because I don't trust most of what the dems say.

And where did you get the idea that the leaders or intelligence services of France, Germany, and Russia "said Iraq had WMDs". Can you provide some evidence, please? I can find plenty of evidence that they were skeptical or even dismissive of the idea.

Posted by: other_nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 01:38 PM

William, besides from what other_nate already answered. The question was not whether or not ‘the UN’ believed Iraq had WMD's. The question was whether or not the UN had worked. In hindsight, there is only one conclusion possible: the UN worked.

The UN has also worked in many other areas. Most notably, without the UN, smallpox would most probably still be huge problem; also, the UN aims to eradicate polio within the next few years.

Posted by: Willem van Oranje [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 04:08 PM

Yes, the UN has worked very well.

They did a great job stopping France, Germany, and Russia from providing Iraq with banned materials.

They did a great job providing Saddam hundreds of millions of dollars skimmed fromt eh oil for food program, while skimming money for themselves.

They've done a great job with their sex and drugs parties held in developing countries, often with underage girls.

Posted by: William Teach [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 05:29 PM

Willem,

And the UN led the way in the global ban of DDT...just how many millions died as a result of the UN buying the bogus science in "Silent Spring"?

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 06:37 PM

William,

Still waiting for that evidence...

Posted by: other_nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 06:46 PM

Great point, Mark. But, the lefties felt good about themselves at their cocktail parties.

other nate, if you haven't seen the evidence, which has already been discussed ad nauseum on blogs, chatboards, and news sites for years, then you have either been a. not paying attention, b. willfully ignoring it, or c. sitting on kool aid sites to much.

Posted by: William Teach [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 06:49 PM

William,

If your evidence is so abundant, then it should be easy for you to point some of it out. A link, a quote, anything!

Posted by: other_nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 06:57 PM

William,

I am harping on you because I think that you either made this up, or you heard it from someone else and never bother to do any research yourself.

Either way, you should take this opportunity to further your own education. Go look up the actual assessments made of Iraq's WMD programs by the leaders and intelligence agencies of France, Russia, and Germany. And just for fun, go look up the assessments made by British intelligence before the war.

When you are able to participate in a debate, with actual evidence, please get back to me.

Posted by: other_nate [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 07:34 PM

Mark: "And the UN led the way in the global ban of DDT..."

Would you care to explain to us who prodded the UN in that regard?

Posted by: Ricorun [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 8, 2006 08:33 PM

These savage traitors can go live in Iran if they hate Bush so much.
The hell with the left!

Posted by: Ames Tiedeman at October 8, 2006 09:24 PM

Mark, I did get the joke. Not a knee-slapper, but worth a grin.

And you are right. Most of this country is too busy to spend much time on simple-minded hatred. They are too busy to comment on it, too, so the haters assume that the rest of the country is in agreement with them.

What does it mean, "going in the right direction"? Precisely, what does it mean? Because if I were asked that kind of stupid, open-ended, question, ("Do you think the country is going in the right direction?")I would probably say NO, assuming of course that any reputable survey would go on to ask why I felt that way.

But I voted for Bush, and I think he did the right thing going into Iraq, and I have no intention of second-guessing the informed decisions of professional military men and women who are actually IN Iraq and actually KNOW what is going on over there, and I think the economy is doing great, and I know the tax revenues are at all-time highs, and I am happy and optimistic.

So why would I say no? Because I think we are seriously messing up, regarding illegal immigration. And mostly because we are sinking into a morass of snideness, hatred, class warfare, and general hostility. None of which, by the way, aside from immigration, do I lay at the feet of this Administration.

As long as so many in this country are so devoted to believing and promulgating outright lies in hopes of gaining political power, as long as surliness and snottiness pass for political discourse, as long as we have a media which fails/refuses to seek truth but instead uses its position to advance agendas, I cannot say I think the country is going in the right direction.

But the key question after that is, do I think it would be any beter with dems in the White House? And I don't think it would be.

Posted by: Almiranta [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2006 12:28 AM

Eddi, skip those ribbons. Black ribbons on trees would just be code for "An idiot lives here." No, I think you should put your money where your mouth is, and boycott oil. No car, no rides in anything powered by engines, no heating oil, just a good honest boycott and return to the basics. Wood heats homes and water, bikes get you around---oops, forgot about those petroleum products in the tires. Oh well, you can walk, if you only wear leather shoes. But speak up, Eddi---make that voice heard! NO MORE OIL!!! Save those silly ribbons for homecoming or something. And all that time walking will give you time to reflect on just why the loony left is a laughingstock. Black ribbons! Red for blood! Black for oil! Are any of you older than 12?

"People are afraid to protest." Really? Where? Why? What has happened to protesters in this country? OK, those who call themselves protesters to excuse rioting, vandalism, looting, and other criminal acts have been arrested. But protesting? Not a one. You've kept that ear glued too tightly to Air America, pieislove. I heard this just the other day, from another ardent Airhead, and it was just as silly then. Afraid? Get real.

"The UN works". Yeah, right. It can hand out some aid, what is left after Kofi And Sons get their hands on it. And that's about all. When you have millions being slaughtered in Darfur, while the UN sits on its can, and ignores UN soldiers trading food for sex with 12-ear-old girls, you have to be an idiot----or maybe a serial liar---to claim it "works".

I'll say this for you guys---you do provide some entertainment value. But it gets kind of creepy, laughing at the rationally challenged
