A Stunning Bit of Ignorance

I often point out that our Democrats/liberals/leftists live in an Aternate Universe - a mental construct where black is white and up is down. Why this should be always puzzled me - why lock one's self away in a false world, after all? Well, I think I know the answer - stunning as it may be, they just don't know anything about the real world. They aren't just putting on partisan blinders - they really just don't know any better, as this bit from uber-lefty David Corn proves:

Copies of The List (see below) have been sent by gay politicos to a variety of social conservative groups that look to the Republican Party to make their religious right dreams come true. The recipients include the Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council, the Alliance for Marriage, Concerned Women of America, the Eagle Forum, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Officials at most of these groups have had something to say about homosexuality and gay rights in the wake of the Mark Foley scandal.

What's the point? The senders--gay people of a non-Republican bent--seem to be hoping to set off a civil war within the GOP, to turn the anti-gay social cons against the GOP's Velvet Mafia. These Washington gays have been seething for years about gay Republican staffers who serve a party that opposes gay rights and that welcomes the support of people who demonize or dehumanize gays and lesbians. "Maybe now the social conservatives will realize one reason why their agenda is stalled on Capitol Hill," says a gay politico. Another says, "The inherent inconsistency of a coalition that shelters both gay loathing 'Christian' conservatives and conservative gays will soon suffer its final rupture."

We could be at it for a while listing all of the things divorced from reality in these two paragraphs. I'll settle for two things:

1. Our agenda isn't stalled on Capitol Hill because our agenda isn't on Capitol Hill...our agenda is is out there in "flyover" America. All we want out of Capitol Hill is that it leave us alone. We know we'll win it all just so long as big government doesn't stop us.

2. Until just now, I figured the accusation about Christians being anti-gay was just a polemic - a bit of propaganda to fire up the leftwing base and keep homosexual monetary donations flowing in to leftwing coffers. After reading this, I must presume that they really think we Christians hate gay people. A distinction has to be made here - a particular Christian might hate gay people (and be a gross sinner by so doing), but a Christian may also be a drunk, a womanizer or a tax cheat...but any particular Christian being any or all of these doesn't means that Christians are all tax cheats, womanizers, drunks and homophobes.

If you are gay and reading this, then please rest assured that Chrisitans don't hate you - really, we don't. We might disagree with you on a number of issues, but to disagree should never be taken as the equivalent of hatred. Do you hate us? Outside a few gay lunatics, I know that you don't - so why presume that we hate you? We're also not going to call down the fury of Heaven upon you if we find out your gay...we will invite you to turn your life over to Christ, but as to whether you will and what will happen if you do, we have no say in the matter.

As for those circulating this infamous list - outside of the terrible sin you are committing in spreading gossip and talking about other's private lives, do you really think it will make life better for you if you do it?

Are there actually people out there that if some elected official that is in the same party they carry a torch for turns out to be a rat, will stay home on election day or vote for someone in an alternate party just to punish that party?

How shallow or ignorant is that? Thats like punishing someone elses kid for something your kid did.

Mark

This just shows the complete ignorance of democrats. Do they really think their gay bashing is going to effect Republican turnout? If they're not careful they're liable to lose the gay vote as well.

I have never been a fan of single issue voters. I'd hate to think the survival of our country was gambled away because groups of people only cared about one thing, like abortion or gay marriage. It seems to me that the Democratic party has assembled together many of these types of groups. And the only way they can keep these groups voting Democrat is to keep them riled up with hate toward Republicans.

85% of liberal politics has no purpose beyond shocking the norms.

They just arent capable of framing their positions in any other manner.

I must presume that they really think we Christians hate gay people.

Here is where the left really gets divorced from reality. To them, disapproval of sinful behavior equals hate - but curiously, only when the sinful behavior is homosexual contact. The Bible tells us to love our neighbor, but NEVER tells us that love means to approve of sinful behavior.

USA,

Really low, ya know...here we allow you to come in to our house and make all sorts of comments and now you have the nerve to say something you wrote didn't make it because we can't handle it?

I checked thru the unpublished comments and I don't see anything of yours unpublished...so, either you did something wrong or we did, but it just isn't there to be approved...why don't you just register so your comments will come through right away? We promise to advise the NSA of only one in three of your posts...

Bigfoot,

I think they all must have taken a sophomore history class and the prof went on and on about the Spanish Inquisition and they've just got the idea that all we Christians ever did was kill people...for oil.

Really Good post, Bigfoot!

Keep up the Good work!

Mark:

"Well, I think I know the answer - stunning as it may be, they just don't know anything about the real world."
You aren't really suprised, are you? The public school system has been in such disarray for years that it is only the precious few that really, really know what it going on here and abroad.
In a way, it's good news - ignorance can be overcome more easily than stupidity. Maybe if we started using more photographs and stopped calling them moonbats at the slightest provocation . . .

"We know we'll win it all just so long as big government doesn't stop us."
Except that we need Big Government right now. Small government can't run the effort in Iraq or the War on Terror - both are manpower-intensive and very expensive.

"We're also not going to call down the fury of Heaven upon you if we find out your gay . . ."
Careful, Mark. You and I won't attack, but don't forget Pat Robertson blaming 9/11 on homosexuals (yes, he recanted, but I'm sure the words have not been forgotten). Also, don't forget that "God Hates Fags" nutso preacher out there, who recently disrupted the funeral of an Iraq War veteran just so that he could get some extra publicity.
Christianity is good and forgiving - it's just a few of the people claiming to be Christians that are giving us a bad name.

If you are gay and reading this, then please rest assured that Chrisitans don't hate you - really, we don't.

Well, that's might grand of you Mark. Assuming to represent all ‘chrisitans’ here now do you? I know all christians don't hate me, many christians in the Netherlands, in Belgium, in Germany, in Spain, in the Scandinavian countries, in Great Britain and in Canada support my right to marry my partner. Even catholics. In my hometown, Roman Catholocs stood at the forefront. Many Christians in the US do too. It's the ‘Chrisitans’ in ‘"flyover" America’ that has gotten the memo yet.

I have learned not to look at what people say but at what they do. And I see that AFA was launching a boycott against the Ford Motor Company because of the company's track record for supporting GLBT issues. I can't detect much ‘chrisitan’ love in that.

The same ‘Chrisitans’ were also livid over SpongeBob Square Pants' participation in a video advocating tolerance. They even managed to pull a PBS-episode of Buster's kids' show because PBS had the audacity to let Buster visit a lesbian couple with kids in Vermont. And they got "Welcome to the Neighborhood," killed before it even aired a single episode because a gay couple won that reality show. Quelle horreur! I don't detect much ‘chrisitan’ love in those actions either.

‘Chrisitans’ try everything what's in their power to profoundly affect the lives of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and trangsgendered people: DOMA, DADT, partnership legislation, education-issues, inheritance-issues, pension benefits-issues, issurance-issues. These issues are not merely ‘voicing differences of opinion’. These issues have real and in some cases profound impliations on peoples lives. Have you any idea through what hoops the same-sex partners of victims of 9/11 had to jump to be eligible for relief assistance? And that was in NYC.
Have you ever imagined what it would feel like when your lover for decades is dying in a hospitalroom and you are denied access because you are not a ‘member of the family’?
Have you ever imagined what it would feel like when you lose literally everything after your lover died, because the family of your lover claimed the house, the car, the cabinets, the entire property you had amassed together as its inheritance? Even the photoalbums of the two of you?

And you have the gall to tell us that this in not ‘hate’ and that you oppose any legislation that addresses those issues because "all [you] want out of Capitol Hill is that it leave [you] alone? How does such legislation even interfere with your life?

The entire issue becomes even beyond the ridiculous when you consider that Christian cry there is a "WAR ON CHRISTIANITY" going on when a shopkeeper tells it's employees to wish the customer Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.
