So... the Democrats have been claiming all week they have no involvement in the Foley affair except they want to "protect" kids. But what does Pelosi then do when she sits down with the AP?

She makes the following statements:

YET SHE DOESN'T RECOMMEND ANYTHING TO "PROTECT THE PAGES EXCEPT KEEP THE SCANDAL GOING FOR POLITICAL GAIN

Instead, she wants to put Hastert and other Republicans under oath and make them say what they knew of Foley's actions, when they learned it and what they did to stop him.

AND THEY WILL WITH THE FBI/HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE/DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE/STATE OF FLORIDA

AP: The potential for political gain is clear to her.

"It's an opportunity for growth among women" for the Democrats, she said. "They don't always vote and this could be a motivation."

With married women, in particular, it's a huge issue, she added.

Among older voters, too.

"If there's an ethical issue, seniors take a hike" and abandon politicians they blame, she said.

"If we hold onto seniors we win the election."

SO... SHE FINALLY ADMITS WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS. SHE'S SAYING, SCREW THE KIDS IF I CAN GET THE GAVEL.

IT'S NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT THAT WHETHER SHE KNEW OR NOT, BUT DEMOCRATS ARE BEHIND THE TIMING OF THIS LEAK AND THEY'LL SLIP SOON ENOUGH.

(Sorry for the formatting of this post. I'm not all up on making italics and stuff like that. So it may look like I'm shouting. While angry about the inaction of Republicans on this issue, I'm about a hundred times more angry about the blatant hypocricy of the Democrats on this issue, I am not shouting

wawilliyo, I think you are tapping into a feeling that is only going to grow and spread. I have been saying for years that the ascendancy of the radical Left has been leaving more and more reasonable, fair-minded, and moderate Democrats behind, and those are the people I think are going to be deeply upset about this transparent Democratic tactic---one which ignored the safety of pages, which left them at risk, in favor of storing up another manufactured scandal to use in October.

But in addition to the cynical decision of the party to let the pages continue to be harassed so they (the Dems) might gain a little political momenetum, I am wondering about the IMs themselves. I used to IM a couple of people, and maybe it's because I am not a computer whiz (in other words, older than 15) I didn't find it easy to save IMs. Not terribly hard, but it was something I had to consciously decide to do, and then take steps to do it. It wasn't like e-mails, where I just close one and it stays on my computer in my e-mail file.

I just find myself suspicious of the fact that, first, a young page engaged in this kind of correspondence only because he wanted to talk with this person about these things, and then that he saved the correspondence, and then that he made it available to Democrats.

So I have a lot of questions.

Did the page know he was IM-ing to Rep. Foley?
Why did he do so, knowiing that so many other pages thought Foley was "a creep" and warned each other to stay away from him?
WAS THERE ANOTHER PARTY INVOLVED---ANOTHER TEENAGER, OR AN ADULT, ENCOURAGING THIS CORRESPONDENCE?
Why did the page keep the transcripts of the correspondence?
Why did he turn it over to ANYONE?
Why did he wait so long to do so, or did he turn this over years ago?
To whom did he turn it over?
Why to this person or agency?

Because entrapment of a sexual predator is very easy. If Foley had the reputation we are told he had, it would have been a piece of cake to have a page, or someone posing as a page, lure him into a lurid exchange such as those we are told occurred.

As bad as the IMs are supposed to be. they don't stink as much as the entire scenario.

So what if the page was put up to his correspondence? What if his motive was not salacious, but political? What if he was put up to it by an adult? By a politically connected adult? What if it was not really a page at all? (I have been out of touch with the news lately and don't know if the IM page has been indentified.) The Dems are frantically throwing out so much chaff, it is clear that they are trying to distract people from asking the tough questions, but I predict that those questions will be asked, and that there will be a lot of scurrying and more efforts at distraction when that happens.

Daryl Tuzzio, 18, from Birmingham, had launched the arson attack in a so-called 'honour' killing because he wanted revenge on 21-year-old Abdul Hamid, the boyfriend of his 15-year-old sister. Star Tribune.com: About three-quarters of the 900 taxi drivers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are Somalis, many of them Muslim. About three times daily, would-be customers are refused taxi service when a driver sees they're carrying alcohol.

The airports commission has struggled with the issue for several years. Alcohol is a serious concern for devout Muslims, said Hassan Mohamud, an imam and vice president of the society. The Qur’an, Islam’s holy book, strictly forbids buying, selling, drinking or carrying alcohol.

The observant drivers object only to transporting openly displayed alcohol, said Ali Culed, a Somali Muslim who’s been driving an airport cab for eight years. They won’t search passengers or quiz them about what’s in their bags. “It is a religious issue,” Culed said. “I cannot force anybody to change their belief, but not in my cab. I don’t want the guilt. I just want to be an innocent person.”

Hogan said taxi starters at curbside will look for duty-free bags with bottles or other obvious signs of alcohol and steer riders to cabs whose drivers don’t object to booze.

Flight attendant Eva Buzek said she was refused service in March after she told a driver to be careful with her suitcase because it had wine in it. Other drivers in the taxi line passed the word, she said, and four more refused her service. A dispatcher finally steered her to a driver who would take the fare.

Buzek, who grew up in Poland, said her treatment goes against American values. “I came to this country and I didn’t expect anybody to adjust to my needs,” she said. “I don’t want to impose my beliefs on anyone else. That’s why I’m in this country, because of the freedom.”
