ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

Bush States The Obvious...

...says Democrats are soft on terror.

President Bush took a swat at his critics Tuesday, bluntly declaring that if Democrats take control of Congress, the nation's stance against terrorism will soften.

He scolded Democrats who voted against his warrantless wiretapping program to monitor the communications of suspected terrorists and legislation to detain, interrogate and question high-value terrorist suspects.

"On each of these programs, the Democrats have said they share our goals. But when it comes time to vote, they consistently oppose giving our personnel the tools they need to protect us," Bush said at a $400,000 breakfast fundraiser for Rep. Richard Pombo, held 60 miles east of the San Francisco Bay area.

"Time and time again, the Democrats want to have it both ways. They talk tough on terror, but when the votes are counted, their softer side comes out," he said.

Bring it on, Mr. President!

We all wondered when W would start punching! He has allowed the Dims to proceed with their cut and run plan, has them in a corner and is kicking A in spite of the MSM.

And to top it off, W, Halliburton, Cheney and Rove have lowered gasoline prices to $59 per barrel. Kick A.

The Dims don't have any platform, for 12 years? Other than sling mud. Thank you Dims! Keep it up, please!

And whats wrong with getting a Warrant?

Nothing thats why its in the Constitution.

Posted by: Magnum Serpentine at October 3, 2006 04:07 PM

Magnum Serpentine this is what is wrong with that.

Posted by: dl [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 3, 2006 05:08 PM

Magnum Serpentine...the right to bear arms is in the constitution, too, but you nut jobs keep trying to take those away.

Or are you saying you pick and choose what parts of the US Constitution suits your needs?

While you're at it...show me where the right to an abortion and the separation of church and state appear in the Constitution.

Thanks

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 3, 2006 05:45 PM

magnum,

you'll notice none of the sheep are disagreeing with you. and warrior is using a third grade argument for...well I'm not sure what for, he seems to think that it's ok for sheep to pick and choose what part of the Constitution suits their needs?

the Constitution also doesn't say you have a right to a "fair trial", or the right to "privacy", or the right paint your house orange....since sheep obviously have no idea what the Constitution is or what is it for you can always expect answers like warrior’s, who will always be a sheep first, Christian second, American last.

I see the libs, as always, are more than ready to extend constitutional rights to non-citizens. Even non-citizens whose sworn duty it is to murder men, women and children whom they consider "infidels".

I wonder where they were when Murtha denied the Constitutional due process to Marines at Haditha before pronouncing them guilty--without so much as reading a report.

I wonder where these bleeding heart libs were when the dems tried to deny soldiers the vote during the 2000 elections? Where was the hue and cry for human and Constitutional rights then?

You guys are so hypocritical it's pathetic.

This is wonderful...the Dems 4 step plan for Iraq

excerpt... "Many Democrats seem to believe that the United States of America is an evil, imperialist power bent on forcing liberty, democracy, prosperity and peace down the throats of a people previously content with tyranny, ignorance, poverty and violence. As commander-in-chief of the American armed forces, this thinking goes, George W. Bush illegally invaded a sovereign nation, overthrew its government and its leader, Saddam Hussein (a hero who was duly elected by his people with an amazing 100 percent of the vote). In place of this stable system of government, which Saddam had so lovingly nurtured for so many years, Bush callously coerced the Iraqi people into participating in a free election to determine their own destiny.

In the loony-tunes world of George Soros and Howard Dean, the current financial and ideological powers behind the Democratic Party, this kind of foreign policy is completely unacceptable.

This is a little off topic I know, but I've been thinking about the announced nuke tests in North Korea and the nuclear program in Iran. I have an idea I'd like to float here.

So. Given that we can't get Iran to stop because Europe, China, and Russia won't buy into it and won't help put sanctions in place. They would certainly never let us use force.

And given that China and Russia (especially China) won't back us up on North korea.

I think the solution is - to announce that we will help South Korea develop and deploy nuclear weapons. We will encourage the moves Japan is making to amend their constitution and help THEM deploy nuclear weapons. We'll help Taiwan develope nukes. And we'll ask some of the former Warsaw Pact countries now in NATO if they would like some. And, we'll deploy nukes to Iraq under US military control.

Now, I'm pretty sure that those -announcements- might get China, Russia, and Europe to look at this problem differently.

"The Democrats are soft on terror...." Honestly, how often have we heard that? Under the Bush administration and Republican congress, we suffered from the worst terrorist attack on American soil.... ever. We turned Iraq into a terrorist breeding ground, according to the NIE report. I'm not trying to sling mud.... I just want to start a good debate, which never seems to happen at my blog.

Why suspend the habeas corpus in insurrections and rebellions? The parties who may be arrested may be charged instantly with a well defined crime; of course, the judge will remand them. If the public safety requires that the government should have a man imprisoned on less probable testimony in those than in other emergencies, let him be taken and tried, retaken and retried, while the necessity continues, only giving him redress against the government for damages. Examine the history of England. See how few of the cases of the suspension of the habeas corpus law have been worthy of that suspension. They have been either real treasons, wherein the parties might as well have been charged at once, or sham plots, where it was shameful they should ever have been suspected. Yet for the few cases wherein the suspension of the habeas corpus has done real good, that operation is now become habitual and the minds of the nation almost prepared to live under its constant suspension.

Prog...give me a break. Under the Clinton Administration he had 8 years to do something about terrorism and did nothing. Attack after attack after attack.

The CIA's head of the Bin Laden department absolutely crushed Clinton today in the CBS news.

And a newsflash for you, Bush didn't have a Republican congress when he was elected idiot. The Senate was 50-50 and then Jeffords became an independent to swing it to the Democrats. So nice try....imagine that a Democrat wrong with the facts again.

Since the attack on 9/11, we've kicked the crap out of terrorists for the last 5 years. When we were attacked under Clinton, he did nothing so 6 more attacks on US citizens happened.

When Clinton Lied, People Died

yeah - do "bring it on, mr. president!"
because who wants to "swat at flies"?

besides now that they want to be "inclusive" and try to "win the hearts and minds" of the taliban by "bringing them into the afghan government" they clearly demonstrate that they are NOT SERIOUS about fighting the war on terror - what say you? that was BILL FRIST WHO SAID THAT?
OOPS.

Prog

And under Clinton Tanks driven by FBI burned the Davidian compound outside Waco to the ground killing 79 American citizens including unarmed women and children. Exactly two years later Timothy mcVeigh blew up the Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City. The date of McVeighs attack was not a coincidence.

The Branh Davidians suffered from group insanity (if you ask me). But, there was a trickle of people giving up and leaving the compound. I have never understood why the FBI went in, and why they waited until the fires had killed everyone at the site before they even called the Fire Department (which had some distance to travel).

Point is - if you want to make this a blame thing... Clintons hands are pretty damn bloody. But you know what? We could discuss how to win! What should we do now?

Personally, the Marines are evaluating an idea I had for combating IED's. Maybe if the enormous liberal brain trust would get on the side of helping America win the war instead of constantly undermining every effort they could help save lives.

But will they? Sadly, I don't think they will.

Dear orange,
"I’m currently overseas visiting our troops in Afghanistan, but I wanted to take a moment to address an Associated Press story titled, “Frist: Taliban Should Be in Afghan Gov’t.” The story badly distorts my remarks and takes them out of context.

First of all, let me make something clear: The Taliban is a murderous band of terrorists who’ve oppressed the people of Afghanistan with their hateful ideology long enough. America’s overthrow of the Taliban and support for responsible, democratic governance in Afghanistan is a great accomplishment that should not and will not be reversed.

Having discussed the situation with commanders on the ground, I believe that we cannot stabilize Afghanistan purely through military means. Our counter-insurgency strategy must win hearts and minds and persuade moderate Islamists potentially sympathetic to the Taliban to accept the legitimacy of the Afghan national government and democratic political processes.

National reconciliation is a necessary and an urgent priority … but America will never negotiate with terrorists or support their entry into Afghanistan’s government." Bill Frist

Frist: Taliban Should Be in Afghan Gov't

Associated Press Writer

QALAT, Afghanistan (AP) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan war against Taliban guerrillas can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Islamic militia and its supporters into the Afghan government.

The Tennessee Republican said he learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated on the battlefield.

``You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government,'' Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. ``And if that's accomplished, we'll be successful.''

from what i have heard and from what i understand of the taliban's insurrection of late, we ought to have redeployed ages ago to afghanistan. every single one of them ought to be handed the "ultimate sentence" so that the country can get off of its knees once and for all.

Posted by: orangealert [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 4, 2006 11:17 AM

"``You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government,"

Different quotes at different parts of the statement; the "they" in this context are those "willing to pick up arms and integrate themselves with the Taliban"

But, it's nice to see compassionate liberal advocating summary executions for the Afghan freedom fighters. I guess they're only entitled to habaes corpus rights once we arrest them.

Here is another look at the world view concerning the Iraq situation:

Posted by: Sugrin Crow at October 4, 2006 07:03 PM

Yes, America is a nation of aggressors. Just because Saddam Hussain as a dictator doesn't mean he had to be toppled by force. In fact, even though I make no excuses for Saddam's dictatorial regime - he was secular and OPPOSED to groups like al-quaida because he saw them as a threat to his own power. Not considering that the US administration lied to us all about the reasons for going to war (which is a crime), the US also had the audacity to go in without a plan fro when fighting was over. By dismantling all the security and police services (bad as they may have been) they created a power vacuum and practically let in all kinds of terrorists theough the vborders to have a nice party. If you cannot realise that the chaos that your president has you bogged down into was caused by a major bad decision to go to war then you really need help. It is because of your president that the middle east is now destabilised with no conclusion in sight.

You want to continue fighting an endless war then so be it. It is rather sad of you to still support a man who has lied to you many many times in the past and who is blatantly abusing his power to help out people from the US elite. It is astonishing that some of you really beleive that he stands for you. He stands for no-one but himself and you can tell by his recent success at passing a bill that makes him judge and jury on the Geneva convention. Can you not see that he is trying to cover his ass? This not only for CRIMES him and his administration have committed in the past but very likely for actions that he has planned for the near future.

He is taking your liberties away from you right under your noses under the disguise of 'protecting the nation'. With this bill anyone wether foreign or american can be detained without a warrant for an indefinite period of time in which he or she may be tortured because, thats right - your president HAS MADE TORTURE LEGAL.

Beacon of democracy and freedom my ass.

If he were so determined to go after leaders planning on building WMD's then why did he not invade Korea, who has practically been waving nuclear missiles in your face and by the way is a hell of a lot closer to your borders than Iraq?

When will you stop submitting to this biggest of liars and understand that you are being duped and thet your nation is being run into the ground - economically and socially, nevermind your reputation in the whole world.

Remember this saying?

UNITED WE STAND TOGETHER WE FALL

Well, all I see in the US at the moment are divisions - like never before.

Here's another one:

DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Thats right - it comes from Roman times and it is a tactic often used by leaders who are adament on pursuing their agenda undisturbed. As long as you are divided he can do whatever he wants - and he does!

Passing the bill that allows him to do what he pleases with the Geneva Convention makes you a FASCIST NATION. There simply is no other way around it. You are now all potential terrorists, and so are the people of the rest of the world.

All your money and riches are being flushed down an endless war that will keep both sides, Democrats and Republicans, bickering while he briskly passes laws in his favor.

I warn you, when you come to the point of understanding what George Bush has done to your nation you will have a hell of a job to get back what you jave lost. The more time goes by the bigger he gets and you may live to regret decisions you have all made together in the past thinking that it was in the interest of all Americans.

It saddens me to see this happening to such a country with great potential for good. All you seem to be able to do is destroy things wether it be countries or peoples spirits.

9/11 was a tragedy but the price your nation has made the rest of the world pay for it overshadows the attack many times over. The lesson you need to learn is that there is no good outcome when fighting violence with violence. True if diplomacy is given priority then things will move much slower and you may be forced to talk to people who fundamentally disagree with your cause (And vice versa). But better results will happen in the long run, ones that bombing the crap out of cities and innocent civilans cannot.

The US has become a monster - a fascits nation out of control. It is not only damaging the world but it is imploding.

I hope you enjoy being controlled by a fascist leader. Its truly great isn't it? We Euorpeans loved it and as you can see from the outcome of the Nazis and the fascists being in power in the past it did us all a great deal of good. What a party those times were heh?

How different things would be if you were a nation just like any other that could be attacked like YOUR nation has over 70 times in the past 60 years.

Your president is the biggest hypocrite in the most powerful seat the world has to offer. Be careful what you let him get away with cause in the end it could cost you more than you think.

WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

Maybe you all should take a week off and read George Orwell's 1984. Although judging by some people's comments I would expect that most people wold think Orwell could not possibly be talking about a nation like the United States.

Freedom Fries for everyone.

PS: You people are right. The Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans. God help us all.

Posted by: No freedom at October 6, 2006 08:57 AM

no freedom, you start off by referencing the canard that Sadaam was ""opposed to" al Queda. This has been widely claimed by the radical Left to counter, in their minds, our determination that Sadaam was a threat because of his support of terrorism.

The only way to believe this is to believe that each and every terrorist group was, and is, independent, separate, and unlinked in any way. But to believe this would be to accept a falsehood. In fact, Sadaam did support various terror groups, and paid families of homicide bombers to encourage more terror attacks. The bombers were drafted on religious grounds, and Sadaam was not a religious man, yet he paid those families. Sadaam was not relgious himself, yet his religious sect is fighting, on religious grounds, in Iraq.

It is a great danger to accept oversimplifications and then to base complex theories on them. What we need to do is remember that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and to realize that Sadaam would have done anything to harm the United States, including arming Al Queda. As a matter of fact, documents found in Iraq have supported the theory that at least some A;Quesa operatives had been in discussions with Hussein officials.

Your entire post is merely another regurgitation of Air America talking points, word for word.

Bush lied? When? What lies? Don't bother with the falsehood that he claimed WMD were the reason for invading Iraq---that's been disproven over and over again using his own words from his own speeches. Don't bother with the infamous 16 words---debunked over and over again. You radicals love to whine about Bush lying, but can never come up with anything that isn't instantly disproved by the truth.

You don't understand the Geneva Convention and you don't understand the Constitution. All you seem to understand is that you looooove Ranty Rhodes and think she is telling you the truth. And then you rush right out to parrot her insanity.

You HAVE freedom, 'no freedom'. You have the freedom to research, to learn, and to think for yourself. The fact that you have chosen to let hate-filled demogogues think for you and then tell you what you "think" is sad. But you had the freedom to do that, and you have to take responsibility for that, and for the fact that your choice gives you no credibility at all.

But your silly mindless regurgitation of silly mindless talking points is .... silly.

I talk with people like you, and hear the same old crap over and over again. And when challenged, none of you can ever come up with a fact. Not only that, but when I do, you ignore it and spin off in a different direction with a different accusation. Silly silly silly.
