ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

October 03, 2006
I wonder if the MSM is keepkng track of this, too...

If you peruse the sidebar on The Ice Palace, as well as on many other blogs, you'll find a banner link that has been keeping tally of every deadly terrorist attack perpetrated by those of a Muslim persuasion since 9/11/2001.

As of the time of this writing, there have been 5,992 of them.

Keep in mind, that it's most likely a safe bet that the vast majority of those attacks involved multiple casualties.

That means only eight more attacks, and the number will have reached the 6000th milestone.

Not that they're keeping track of that

After all, everyone knows that our real enemies are George W. Bush and the U.S. military.

Silly thought on my part, really.

If I were you, I'd start hoping the MSM doesn't start keeping track of these 5,000+ attacks.
The Republican Party is campaigning on the idea that they are winning the War on Terror, and that the Democrats can't.
Many uninformed members of the public might not understand that the enemy is going to win a few battles, even while losing. Even 6,000 battles.

Hick, the purpose of the article is to draw attention to the fact of whom our real enemies are. Of course those attacks haven't happened on American soil; so yes, in that respect we are winning the war on terror. Don't think for a second that if given a chance the same scumbuckets wouldn't again rain terror upon our soil. Ergo, we are fighting them there.

But according to those on the left, we are not at war at all; this whole thing is just a pack of lies, and the Islamo-fascist terrorists are merely an inconvenience.

Remember, in a tape released last week, #2 Al Qaeda leader Zawahiri reiterated:

...the Muslim nation should realize that Afghanistan and Iraq are the most two important fields for confronting the contemporary Crusader war. Therefore, the Muslim nation should support the mujahdin in these two countries with all its power."

Psycmeistr:

The Left is not questioning the fact that we are at war - their endless reiteration of the body count is proof of that.
They, however, do not believe that we should be fighting. They believe that the terrorists should be fought by police and FBI agents, at home, and by diplomats abroad. They do not believe that the military is accomplishing the goal of making us safer.
Those 6,000 terror acts are a point in their favor.
So is the terrorist-like act in Amish country yesterday. Presumably it is the job of Homeland Security to prevent acts like that one. The claim that the War is keeping us safe is a hollow one - at best, the war in Iraq is keeping several thousand poor illiterate jihadi from somehow scraping together plane fare and coming over here.
At worst, it is keeping us complacent while Al-Qaida members raid their piggy banks and cash in their frequent flyer miles. It only takes one or two, after all.
The Administration has set itself a daunting task by stating that they will protect America from terrorists. We must all accept that.

"...they do not believe that we should be fighting.."

That about says it all.

psyc - always one to distill the debate down to black and white, good versus evil, gop against lib. it's irresponsible to conflate a decreased number of attacks on US soil with winning the war on terror. the debate is far more nuanced than you might like to admit and has everything to do with HOW you fight versus just fighting for the sake of fighting.

and yes - you are correct, AS A RESULT OF INVADING IRAQ, it can now be considered a battlefield. how much more circular can one get?

Leo, I'm glad you wrote this thresd. The other day, before the Foley fiasco hit, I was watching one of the cable networks, and Jane Harmon was on. She was commenting on the misconstrued, cherry-picked sentence from the April NIE, and said something to the effect that the war in Iraq was creating more terrorists, even though we haven't been hit here. She said, and I paraphrase, that the attacks in Madrid and London were attributed to the war in Iraq.

If we lose the House next month, this beyotch is in chareg of the House Intelligence Committee...

Yes, Orange--

I always wade through the obfuscation and smoke-and-mirrors reasoning put out by the left. Call me a reductionist, if it makes you feel better.

If things were up to the likes of you and John Kerry, we'd have been probably "nuanced" into a nuclear wasteland by now.

Boy!, I wish we could find the guy who caused all this mess. Where is he? I don't know. "After invading a country and creating a state of Anarchy, NOW we know who our enemies are!" What a laugh. Bad job Mark.

Not to mention that in this situation we should stay the course! Hahahaha! It's like 6000th is the high score, but we need to go higher! Hahahaha! I'm laughing for all you Republicans.

But I thought we were winning the war on terror?

Last throes, right?

Posted by: Michael Webb at October 3, 2006 04:36 PM

The number of Muslim terrorist attacks is now up to 5,995. This is a world war. The enemy is the ideology of Islam.

Posted by: Freedom1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 3, 2006 07:32 PM

"I always wade through the obfuscation and smoke-and-mirrors reasoning put out by the left."

Yeah, reality is smoke-and-mirrors. The left has no opposition.

The enemy is not Islam...you should really look into things.
