What Media Bias? Part 68

We've been flooded with polls for a year now about President Bush - the MSM has been generating them fast and furious and trumpeting each one...well, trumpeting each one as long as it keeps to the MSM narrative, which is that President Bush's popularity is sinking. So, its no surprise that when Zogby (second item) came in with a poll showing 51% favorability for the President two weeks ago - the first time in a year its been at that level - no one mentioned it...

As we keep reminding, polls are not that important - we don't govern by means of public opinion polls. Bill Clinton did that, and you can see what it got us - policy dictated by the shifting breezes of political fashion, leading up to a stock market crash, recession and terrorist attacks. But we wish the MSM would at least try to hide their bias - make a stab at fairness...if you are going to push to the limit any poll which shows bad news for President Bush, you should also push to the limit any poll showing improvement for the President.

"What Mark Noonan Bias?" Part 97,826

Um, nice cherry picking on one outlier. But then, cherrypciking is what you Bushicons do best.

But I must commend you for posting the link to pollingrepot.com. If you scroll just a little bit down from the Zogby poll you cite, you'll see a Wall Street Journal poll (no friend of democrats) which shows Bush's "very negative" rating to be at about the highest of his entire presidency. Scroll a bit further down still, and you'll see that the latest Fox News poll (also no friend to democrats) pegs Mr Bush at 39% approval. Scroll down a bit further still, and you'll find CBS polls Bush at 32% approval.

But hey, Mark, go ahead and soothe yourself with the 51% Zogby outlier. And keep on thinking the news from Iraq is all hunky dory.

It might be spun and dismissed for a period of time, but eventual Reality has a cruel way of reasserting itself.

Mark, if we have learned anything over the past 6 yrs, it is that the MSM is as liberal as it ever was in it's zeal to damaged the Bush Presidency.
He knows it, those around him know it, and it's been a long, hard climb to even get a half decent
article written about him. It is fact, that before Bush's Presidency, the Media in all aspect
has been liberal. It is only after his being sworn in, did we see the extent that the liberal,
leftist MSM was willing to go, to damage his time as President. For anyone to also try to deny that
Hollywood has EVER been anything other than, totally Leftist Liberal, is in total denial. It is, and always was liberal/left, and that has also
contributed to the scathing, hateful almost daily,
bashing that President Bush has had to endure. It
became apparent when they even wanted to deny him as the winner of the first election-and at any cost, tried to 'swing the election to Gore'. Mr. Bush, won these elections and there is no doubt that he did. The only ones who think otherwise, are the very hard-leftists, that have been so very
angry, vindictive and obstructionists from day one
of President Bush. If they could not win the elections fairly, then they set out to destroy all
that this President would do on a daily basis. It
lied, twisted to the hilt, it's MSM resources, did
anything they could to smear this Adm. in any ways
it could. To his credit, even after the Rathergate, where a journalist tried to influence
a Presidental election, President Bush, has just tried to keep his nose to the grindstone, and forge ahead. He has never gotten a break from all
the MSM, it's journalists, tv comedians, leftist film makers, leftist editors...it just became a daily "Bush-bashing" even if it meant that all the
MSM was putting our country in jeopardy, and was aiding and abetting our enemies who wanted to kill
Americans-It DID NOT MATTER- The only thing that has mattered to these people, has been a "return to power in their minds, that was taken away from them-including especially their self serving careers, that they feel entitilement to" It has
not been enough to lie, be hateful, and try to smear and destroy anyone in the way of the Adm's
members, judges or positions that were put before them to vote on, as is usually done with new Administrations. It didn't matter, as they ruined
lives of decent people, and anything else that has
been what they feel they just needed to oppose just for the sake of oppossing, because it was of the Bush Administration. How ANY of this, in our fighting enemies that want to kill us, is supposed
to keep us safe, is beyond me. The Dems have made
a division in this country, that we have not seen the likes of since Viet Nam days, and it is just a shame for the sake of all Americans and our country to remain strong, they have chosen to be so divissive. We have been fed so much from the MSM most of our lives, only to realize the biases they have always shown, that we relied for years on their input and output of information. It is only in the last so many years, that with a few radio stations, one tv cable channel, and of course the internet, have we been able to 'hear and see' the other side-to counter the liberalism
we have always been fed. So in closing, for the liberals now to claim, that the conservatives have always held the airways, etc., is again, so very false, as it has always been controlled by the liberal left. They KNOW, that 99% of the Hollywood scene, is in their back pocket, helping the likes of the Clinton's, so while these polls of late, showing Bush's numbers climbing, I don't
think people will hear too much about it in the MSM, as it is something they don't want to have come to light. Most of what they post about Bush
is negative, and that's what they try to perpetuate on a daily basis. If you need to see proof, just look at the NYT, TWP, etc. They never write about anything in a positive light when it comes to President Bush, and thank God, he doesn't need it, as he KNOWS what his job is on a daily basis.

I'll give you two names as to why you don't get to ask to media to "make a stab at fairness" regarding Bush:
Jeff Gannon
Armstrong Williams

the media isn't biased against Bush for ideological reasons (he's gotten more free passes than someone eating a live roach at Six Flags)...it's a credibility issue, which the White House lost all of w/ the media, and those two names are a big reason for that.

Remember when reality cruelly asserted itself the last time the lib's started believing thier own B.S. polls? 2004 wasnt it?

Posted by: LiberalNightmare [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 28, 2006 07:16 PM

A true leader leads. One who governs by polls is a spineless follower. It may take some time for the feckless public to catch up. President Bush has the courage to do what's right (not necessarily what is politically expedient).

The only polls that matter occur every two years. Polling eligible voters in between elections is meaningless and is intended to steer politicians in the direction the LLL MSM wants. Fortunately President Bush, courageous man that he is, doesn't give a fig about these outside influences.

Right is right. And President Bush is definitely right.

Mark, up or down, you should just ignore the worthless "polls." But you are smart enough to label them as they are: media bias (or weak attempts at rigging the game).

Opus Gay, do you have a point?

Posted by: Bob Arctor [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 28, 2006 08:33 PM

bobby,

you up pretty late for a third grader aren’t you?

my point? How can I make it more clearly, the admin has, on numerous occasions, has attempted to manipulate the media...it's obviously worked for you sheep, but those of us in reality have a knack for seeing through gay porn stars lobbing softball questions in the press room and payments to reporters to write favorable articles.

hope that helps, I tried to dumb it down for you, now go brush your teeth and go to bed before mommy finds out your still up...nighty night little sheep.

President Bush, courageous?-7 MINUTES!
pathetic sheep

So Jeff Gannon is a reporter for what newspaper? He certainly still is in the press gaggle is he not? No?

Put on your own footie pajamas, Opus Gay. Daddy's waiting.

President Bush is indeed is courageous, unlike Klintoon he ignores the polls and does what is right. But I realize you don't understand. Penguins aren't very smart.

President Bush has done NO wrong inspite of the critical, hypocritical thinking of democrats. He has stood strong through this struggle to save this Blessed land of people, from those who would do us tremendous harm.. shamefully...democrats have tried beligerantly; to stand in the way of this fight that would save their very own lives, and which...would lead one to think of it in a manner that, perhaps, democrats care nothing for folks who have lived and built this Nation to what it is today losing foresight of what we have accomplished thus far! Could you just imagine what it would be like back in the days of Clinton era of how fast this country was declining in his administration, GOD ONLY KNOWS IF WE WOULD STILL BE HERE TODAY, AND THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE LOOK AT WHAT A MISTAKE IT WOULD BE TO RE-CONTINUE UNDER A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT ADMINISTRATION IN THE FUTURE. FOLKS, DEMOCRATS DON'T CARE ANYTHING ABOUT YOU, THERE CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES AND NO ONE ELSE, AND IT WOULD SUIT THEM GOOD IF THEY COULD COLLAPSE AMERICA, DO YOU WANT TO SEE THAT HAPPEN??? DO YOU WANT TO LIVE BACK IN THE DAYS OF THE LATE TWENTIES AND EARLY THIRTIES, WHEN PEOPLE BARELY HAD ENOUGH TO EVEN SURVIVE ONE MORE DAY ON, I THINK *NOT*!!!!

So, You see what we've come to and most Americans appreciate that, and are proud of what this Nation has become and what has been accomplished, Including All Republicans; And My, We can look back, and see the trials and errors, but, inspite of everything, we have kept our eyes on Jesus - The Author and Finisher of our Faith!!
And He's the ONLY thing that will see that progress is made into the future, for without Faith in God, there is no basis for progress, You see! Everything goes according to plan with God's Will, provided that we Trust and Obey! For there is no other way!!

So don't let some .01% OF THE ENTIRE NATION - liberal biased poll sway you! that if acted upon would lead this country into a direction that would very well set the country back so far in time and direction that we would become vulnerable to the hands of terrorist, because terrorists are like a bunch of drooling wolves waiting for that first sign of weakness to attack with a veangence!

GIVE THE ENEMY NO SIGN OF DEFEAT!!!

LET'S KEEP GOD FIRST IN EVERYTHING THAT WE DO! AND GOD WILL MAKE US STRONG AS THE FAMED BIBLICAL STRONG MAN OF THE UNIVERSE - SAMSON, BUT NOT BODILY WISE CAUSE ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT, NO, STRONG AND POWERFUL IN A PROSPEROUS SENSE!! AND THAT'S *NO JOKE*, I'M VERY SERIOUS!!

Are'nt you thankful America?

God Bless our President and God Bless each an every American, We are Truly Blessed!!

Thank you!

Jeremiah

Jeremiah is one of the smartest commenters here, hands down. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and love of Christ! Your common sense is what makes America the greatest country ever to grace the face of the Earth!

*Chuckles*

If you can't say anything nice...

Sorry Jeremiah, couldn't suppress the chuckle.

ANYWAY...

Once again we bring up polls. Once again I must repeat my oft repeated comment. Who cares about polls? Polls don't matter in any way shape or form. They are merely a sampling of a few people. They're like sticking your finger in the wind, who knows where in the wind you're sticking it, but there you go!

Honestly, I wish folks would stick to the stuff that matters.

I did the first blog on this subject-any idea where it is?

Posted by: Jo at September 29, 2006 12:22 AM

Mark,

Which specific policies of Bill Clinton caused a stock market crash, recession, and terrorist attacks? What policy changes did President Bush make during his first eight months in office that would reduce the chance of a terrorist attack, before he was forced to do something after suffering the worst attack on the U.S. in its history, while under his watch?

Why did the stock market triple while Clinton was president but it has barely moved, in the close to six years Bush has been president?

Posted by: Brian at September 29, 2006 12:30 AM

Gozer, I chuckle when I imagine you telling me to choose the Form of the Destructor.

I think I would choose Nate. I can think of few things less scary.

Jermiah's right, I know I don't want to live like people did in the twenties and thirties, when unregulated markets and robber-baronism collapsed our economy.

That's why we need to elect more Republicans! That way, we can relax more regulations on our markets. Then we can outlaw unions, too, cause workers shouldn't be able to freely organize. Then we can destroy Social Security, welfare, medicare, and medicaid (the very programs installed to help people out of the Depression). Then we can get rid of all government subsidies (except those for corporations, of course.) That's what Jesus would do, right?

Jeremiah, you are an absolute genius. You really should start your own blog so more people could partake in your wisdom.

Brian -

Note that the Clinton years also left us the legacy of the dot.com and telecom busts, which left us in the deepest recession since the years of Bush Sr.

So would you argue that Clinton can take the blame for the recession too? Because the alternative might mean letting Bush off the hook for the current problems in the economy.

"Note that the Clinton years also left us the legacy of the dot.com and telecom busts, which left us in the deepest recession since the years of Bush Sr."

As one who was in the telecom field at that time, it was a disaster. We went from 65 engineers in my department to just 2 in about 6-8 months.

Luckily, I am recently back in the field, but that's after busting my rump for 5 years as a contractor with no benefits.

I always hear how Bill Clinton was great for the economy, etc., etc. What a crock.

As we saw the other day, he will go down in history as the only elected impeached president who will be known for not being able to keep his pants up, and for lying under oath.
