"While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein." - PNAC

They lied to our soldiers and to us, for reasons good or bad. We the people are supposed to decide when to place our loved ones in harm's way, so that we may protect them from being pawns for an out-of-control executive that may not value pawns very highly. Apparently, they may have believed that we wouldn't have the depth of vision to understand that establishing a force presence in the ME was necessary for the good of the world. However, if so, does that justify such deception? If it does, if such deception can be justified, then we must admit, we are not the democracy (government system of rule by an informed, rational electorate of equals under the law) we like to think we are [or hope to become] and that we are on a slippery slope towards totalitarianism, the very thing PNAC claims we are trying to stamp out. I do not claim that every decision would be best made by popular vote, but I do think we should stop allowing ourselves and our soldiers to be lied to regarding such massive things as going to war, at the cost of thousands of American lives, hundreds of billions of dollars (which, if used elsewhere, could save SO MANY lives), and thousands of Iraqi lives.

P.S. If you think the PNAC/Bush crowd cares one bit about ending abortion, stopping homosexual marriages, or securing a special place for the Ten Commandments in our Judiciary, you are sadly mistaken. They only wish to manipulate these issues, and many others, to secure votes and therefore power. For this reason, it is in their best interest that these issues do not get resolved while they make it appear that they are trying to resolve them, so that the issues continue to rake in votes by the millions for them.

To clarify the "Wilson-Plame" nonsense, I suggest
reading today's WSJ, Editorial today, by Victoria
Toensing....She clearly makes one understand the whole "supposed outing of Ms.Plame/Blame". It is curious as she states, the actions, or non-actions
of Mr. Fitzpatrick. This is quite curious, as to
WHY, he would further an investigation, letting all to 'think, there is a Whitehouse coverup, or
instigators in the first place'. Ms. Toensing is
very knowledeable, and states quite clearly, the mess that we were fed up until now. I have felt,
that the "Wilson-Plame pair", were publicity seekers all along, and looking for the "book deals
and movie about themselves" down the road. They should both, be held liable for the costs of this costly trial, when all along, they were trying to
besmerch the President and his Administratin. I
fail to see why Fitzpatrick,(knowing the truth from the beginning, but continuing with the bogus
investigation) would not be held accountable, in trying to "make a name for himself also".

Read Ms. Toensing's article over at TWP, under Editorial- She, should be looked at for a high position in this Administration-extremely honest,
intelligent, and one who can "cut through b.s."

She is one who should be looked at seriously, as yet another woman, who can 'hold her own'..

Attention: Mr. President-here is a very good candidate for a position in your Administration-that would make the cut.

Grenade blast as Muslims protest Pope's 'insult'

"Cairo (Reuters and AFP) - Muslim leaders yesterday condemned Pope Benedict XVI over comments he made about Islam on a visit to Germany and demanded he apologise. A grenade exploded near the oldest church in Gaza City, injuring no one, and hundreds of Muslims in Indian Kashmir held a day-long strike with protests in the capital.[..] The head of the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood called on Islamic countries to threaten to break off relations with the Vatican unless the pontiff withdrew his remarks. Mohamed Mahdi Akef, whose group is one of the Arab world's oldest and most influential, said the Pope "aroused the anger of the whole Islamic world and strengthened the argument of those who say that the West is hostile to everything Islamic".[..]

Jordan's mainstream Islamists warned that the comments would widen a rift between Muslims and the West and revealed hatred towards the adherents of their faith.
*****

This is typical. Iranians can chant, "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel" all day long...and there's no reaction from the Muslim world. British Muslims can demonstrate in the UK over the Muhammad cartoons with signs that read, (pix) "Behead those who insult Islam", "Massacre Those Who Insult Islam" and "Whoever insults a prophet, kill him"...and there's no reaction from the Muslim world. Islamic terrorists can blow up civilians in London, Madrid, Bali, Iraq, Russia, ...and there's no reaction from the Muslim world. But, when the Pope links Islam and violent jihad, the Muslim world explodes in outrage. Pathetic.

Much as I hate the thought of violating a cemetary, I agree. Getting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda out weighs being nice or "pc".
