ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan get a book deal!

September 06, 2006
Faking Leftism 101

James Taranto at Best of the Web Today does the best imitation of a leftwing kook that I've seen for a while. In response to this news story:

The arrest of Hamed Jumaa Farid al-Saeedi, described by officials as the No. 2 leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, was the latest in a series of blows to the Sunni Arab insurgent group, believed responsible for numerous suicide attacks on civilians and other deadly violence. . . .

"The al Qaeda organization in Iraq has been seriously weakened and is now suffering from a leadership vacuum," Iraq's national security adviser, Mowaffak al-Rubaie, said at a news conference. . . .

Iraqi officials said al-Saeedi, an intelligence officer for then-President Saddam Hussein, was captured within the past few weeks as he hid among women and children in an unspecified location just north of Baghdad. (emphasis added)

Taranto apparantly channels this from some DUer or Kossack out there::

This is all lies! All lies, we tell ya! Everyone knows Iraq has nothing to do with al Qaeda. It's just a distraction! Even more preposterous is the claim that "an intelligence officer for then-President Saddam Hussein" would join al Qaeda. Saddam Hussein was a secularist, whereas the al Qaeda guys are religious fanatics. Everyone knows that, except maybe the boobs who watch Fox News! The kind of transformation the Post is describing would violate the laws of physics. It's just another example of the Bush administration's war on science, and it's sad to see the Post drinking the neocon Kool-Aid.

Now, I ask you, if I hadn't ID'd that as coming from James Taranto - had I, instead, fibbed a bit and said I found the comment on DU - would anyone, including you lefties out there, have doubted me for a moment?

Mark, assuming my first attempt at posting has fallen into a black hole, let me emphasize something different. Notice how al-Saeedi "hid among women and children in an unspecified location just north of Baghdad".

This guy is just another bastard who deliberately aims at the innocent, and then hypocritically screams his head off when you accidentally harm the innocents whom he hides behinds. The Hezbigots are good for that, too.

All right, let's see if this one gets through.

So Taranto is as wacky as some of you right wing neo con Bush Republican kooks.

All is well, the world is in balance.

*Chuckles*

I agree, that sounds just like what some of our friends say on a regular basis. Though it's not hard to pretend to be on the other side in one or two posts. I wonder if anyone tries to post as a loonie from the other side on a regular basis?

Probably so, Gozer. We have a few who post as conservatives, and ClearwaterConservative is definitely a spoof...

Stop agreeing with my sockpuppets, Keef.
