Why am I reminded of those Japanese discovered hiding out in the Pacific, still fighting WWII in the 70's because they can't be at peace with the idea they may have been wrong?

Like all the non-starters before her, she has outlived her usefullness to the left-wing, Bush-Derangement-Syndrome crowd, and they've thrown her overboard. She just doesn't seem to understand this fact, however. She just keeps on with her shtick like some rabid code-pink bunny rabbit on Meth...
The "Bush lied us into war" mantra failed.
The "Farenheit 911" media blitz failed.
The "Valerie Plame" fiasco failed.
The "Economy sucks" effort spun wildly into failure.
The "Cindy Sheehan'ing" of the anti-war (read that, "anti-Bush") movement has failed miserably.
The Karl Rove character assassination effort has failed.
The "Armchair Generals want Rumsfeld to resign" effort has failed.
The "Kill the Patriot Act, Kill the 'Domestic Wiretapping'" effort has failed.
The "Cut and Run and call is 'Redeployment'" effort is failing.
The "What International Coalition?" in Iraq effort has failed.
In a nutshell, everything the Democrats have attempted to do in their effort to bring down this President and his Administration has failed, failed, failed...
So what do you suppose they'll come up with for the upcoming election?
I daresay it will follow the well-worn path of their previous efforts... failure...

You guys amaze me. Cruising this blog site is better than cable! I don't think the best screenwriters in Hollywood could come up with better stuff! The way you all try to prop up Bush is a hoot! I would swear the man were a saint if I didn't know better!
Anyway, the irony of this particular string is that, unless you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and have never really experienced a hardship a day in your life, all of you have more in common with Cindy Sheehan than you ever have or ever will with Bush.
Why do you feel that you have more in common with a man who has never worked a day in his entire life, than with someone like Cindy Sheehan? You’re so willing to see things his way, than to empathize with a woman who has lost her child. What makes him your superior in life? For that matter, what makes him your equal? Does he know what it’s like to have to get up in the morning to go to a job that you hate so that you can keep a roof over your head and maintain your health benefits? Does he know what it is like not to have a job and be unable to find one? What has he ever done in his entire life that enables him to see the world through your eyes and understand how you are living? When he had an opportunity to serve his country in Vietnam as most middle class and poor people were drafted to do, he had strings pulled to go into the National Guard, which, unlike today’s National Guard, had no chance of ever being deployed to a war zone. Why didn’t he join the Air Force if he wanted to be pilot? But he would have you believe he understands war and how people who have lost loved ones in war feel.
The fact that he murders the English language daily and the polls say people would love to have a beer with him doesn’t make him an ordinary Joe. He will never have a beer with you or invite you out to Crawford for barbecue and scriptures, people! Get a grip!

Apparently, some Canadians want to cut and run...from Afghanistan. At least one sane Canadian is against this retreat. Peter Worthington at the Toronto Sun.com argues it's No time to cut and run "Casualties are part of worthy mission to destroy Taliban, rebuild Afghanistan"
The cut-and-run crowd are at it again. With five soldiers -- at least four Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) -- killed in what some are calling the biggest battle Canadians have fought since World War II, predictable elements are urging we withdraw our 2,300 troops from Afghanistan.

Ethan;
Bush did serve his country during the Vietnam War. Contrary to Lib TP#23495, the ANG was not a safe place to sit out the war. This lie is a gross insult, not only to the President but to all the ANG members who honourably served, many making the ultimate sacrifice to serve their country. Air National Guardsmen flew some 30,000 sorties logging 50,000 combat hours in Vietnam and several members of President Bushes ANG Unit were deployed to Vietnam when he joined.
I don't know if you have ever been in a fighter, but it is not for the faint of heart. It's like riding a roller coaster without rails where the slightest mistake or error in judgement gets you killed and the F102s that the TANG flew had the worst safety record of any fighter in US history. If the President wanted to avoid hazardous duty, fliying fighters, especially F102s, was the wrong choice and his daddy, who supposedly pulled strings to keep him safe would have known this all too well as a former fighter pilot.

Kahn,
When and where?
I was in the Corps from Oct 73 to Dec 76.
Posted by: A-10 at September 6, 2006 10:34 AM
Well at least you didn't call me a "Moonbat" (What exactly is that, anyway?). So Bush had his picture taken next to a plane during Vietnam and that makes him a war hero. Fine. Whatever. That actually wasn't the point that I was trying to get across in my post. My point is what makes Bush better than you guys or even your equal? What has he ever done in his entire life that warrants all of this praise you guys stumble all over yourselves to shower him with? Is it because he claims to be a christian? Or is it because he is on "your team?"
No matter how you slice it, he is a rich kid who, like most members of congress, has been handed everything in his life. He has no idea what it is like to have to work to survive. He has no idea what average people go through daily because he has never had to go through it. That is a fact. Hence, when I say you have more in common with Cindy Sheehan most of you do, whether you like it or not. She is somebody who can relate to the day to day struggles of trying to make it. She is somebody who, because of her "station" in life would more than likely lose a child fighting this war. Does Bush have a relative in Iraq? Does he have a personal relationship with anybody serving in Iraq? Photo ops don't count. The answer is no. Why? Because people like him and people in his circle don't have to go off to war. They leave that sort of stuff to the poor and what's left of the middle class.
And as far as Bush being a "helluva" lot better than what the "dimocrats" have to offer, wishful thinking doesn't make it true. He isn't even the best man the republicans have/had to offer and you guys know it! You're just making the best of it because your stuck with him until 2008. It will be interesting to see how you guys talk about him after that.

Wow you are clueless. First what does cindy being of the working class have to do with anything? If your gonna call Bush a rich kid what was John Kerry? Did he struggle to survive, i don't think so. In fact, does Cindy Shee"sham" have a job? a real job? Where's she get all this money to go on Bush bashing tours, to build tree houses, etc? Smells fishy to me, i think the the libs were paying her to be a liberal media focal point. What do you think? Also what makes her different than anyother parent EVER who lost a child in war? Casey (her son) knew what he was signing up for, he supported his country, he died honorably and will forever be remembered (at least by the right)as a war hero who died for a cause and helped liberate millions of Iraqi's. Once the lib's stop paying for her ridiculious tours and hate speeches she too will stop.

Ethan;
Most of us think he is a great man because we've seen him in action. He is a decent, honest man who means what he says and keeps his word. This is extremely rare in life and almost unheard of in politics.
People don't get to choose their parents, they can only choose what to do with the life they are given. President Bush took a small inheritance ~ $17,000.00 from his grandfather started a business, and created a personal fortune in excess of $16,000,000.00.
Throughout his life he has served his country, first in the TANG, then working on election campaigns including both of his fathers presidential campaigns. He has run for elected office himself; he is the first republican to win reelection in Texas history. Has twice been elected president. Seems to me he's done quite a bit. I admire him for his success and dedication to public service.
Posted by: Mel Evenson at September 6, 2006 02:02 PM
Anyone who thinks Bush hasn't worked a day in his life clearly does not understand the job of president. It's one of the hardest jobs I can imagine... always people with demands on your time, always the requirement to be properly dressed and looking good, and constantly being critiqued for your every word, gesture, and facial expression. I know I would not want to live like that... I doubt most people would.

'77-'81. After that, I just couldn't afford it.
My little brother was in from '79-'82. He'd just gone to Okinawa when members of his team from 2nd FSSG went to Beirut. Sadly, several died when Hezbollah blew up their barracks. The Marines on the perimeter had empty weapons (for political reasons, you know so as to NOT offend anyone). They watched that truck-bomber plow through and said he was laughing hysterically.
To tell you the truth, as much as I loved Ronald Reagan I never really forgave him for that. We never pursued the trail back to Iran either. Instead, we fired the CIA operative who spelled out the trail for using rough tactics.

Someone had best call up those environmental people... They can build a house in a tree on a lot across from Cindy and protest over all the filth coming out of Cindy’s tree/mouth!!!

With five soldiers -- at least four Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) -- killed in what some are calling the biggest battle Canadians have fought since World War II, predictable elements are urging we withdraw our 2,300 troops from Afghanistan.
axis - "you chickenhawks"? Big words from a Canadian.
I know I'm not the only former marine posting here. My brother was Marine also - Hizbollah killed a bunch of his friends in Beirut a few years back. My niece and my nephew are in Iraq (AF and Army respectively). I regularly send CARE packages to my relatives and neighbors who are serving overseas.
What a pompous jerk you are.
Her idea of just pulling out would be disastrous. She is blinded by hatered. Much like you.
Tell me, are there any Candian blogs I can go polute like you polute this one? On second thought, never mind. Who cares about Canada? You're the nation the refused to stand with us when everyone, INCLUDING YOUR OWN INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES thought Iraq had WMD. You are not our friends. You are America hating cowards with an inferiority complex. God, I am glad I was not born in Canada.
axis...
Do you even know what chickenhawk means????
Didn't think so!!!!!
How about a HAWK THAT EATS CHICKENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just out of curiosity, where IS Cindy Sheehan getting the money for all this? Hugo Chavez?
Ethan;
ETHAN:
Ethan;
Ethan...did you vote for John Kerry in 2004?
You know, the guy worth more than 3X what Bush is worth. The richest of rich...just curious.
