This is the second time I've heard this - now from Robert Novak:
WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush, in private conversation, is talking about trying to revive his tax and Social Security reform proposals after the 2006 elections.Bush stressed those two issues after his 2004 re-election victory, but neither made progress. He campaigned nationwide in 2005 for Social Security personal accounts but never proposed a specific bill. His tax reform did not get beyond recommendations of a presidential commission.
The events of the war can, of course, completely throw any proposed domestic initiative off the rails - that said, reforming SS and taxation are two of the prime domestic-policy reasons we all elected and re-elected President Bush for...and, of course, if there is a Speaker Pelosi and/or a Majority Leader Reid in 2007, we can consider any such reforms DOA.
So, keeping that in mind, perhaps it is time to commit to the GOP for 2006?

You forgot the war with Iran and or Syria on his agenda, which would "completely throw any proposed domestic initiative off the rails".
If there is a Speaker Pelosi and/or a Majority Leader Reid in 2007, we can consider any such reforms DOA,
From your mouth to God's ears!
Radio, get real. A Pelosi and Reid would destroy this country just to "get" Bush because they hate him.
Amazingly, James, we can do the reforms necessary here and fight the War on Terror. Just watch.
