I went over to the MSN Group New Chat where I used to post my thoughts prior to becoming a blogger, and I dug up this, which I think is the first mention I ever made of the Plame Kerfuffle:
10/2/2003
From what I've read around the web today, I've drawn the following conclusions:
1. Wilson, far from being non-partisan, clearly supports the Democratic Party over the GOP (Ed. Note: This was a considerable amount of time before I found out that Wilson was already a Kerry advisor when he wrote the op-ed).
2. Its unclear as to whether or not his wife had been under cover; but as the law states that to be considered under cover one has to have been assigned an under cover job overseas within the previous five years, it seems certain that she wasn't under cover at the time of the release of her name.
Basically, as I expected all along, this is turning out to be a damp squib. Already the Schwarzenegger stuff is making this story third or fourth mention on TV...within a week or two it will be largely forgotten. This, of course, is why the Democrats are calling for an independent (counsel) - not because they think any actual wrongdoing was done (there is only the thinnest possibility of a highly technical violation of the law), but because by so doing this could be dragged out into next year.
Its all, in the end, just partisan political BS.
I sure was wrong about that - It was just partisan political BS, but it sure did have legs. I'll always be amazed that this non-story, which was exposed as a fraud within days of its breaking, managed to survive for nearly three years - and, indeed, some lefties out there are still keeping it going, even at the cost of looking like complete idiots.
This was the real beginning of the BUSH LIED!!!! meme so popular on the left. It was from this false story that the whole conspiracy-theory fabric underlying the pathological hatred of Bush was woven. This is not to say that if Wilson hadn't penned his bogus op-ed that the BUSH LIED!!!! meme would never have happened - far from it. Absent Wilson, the left would have merely found some other fantasy to hang their meme on. Its really been odd - a bunch of lies claiming that President Bush lied...I do sometimes wonder if this has ever been tried before in political history. Think of the level of dishonesty you must sink to in order to make up stuff, and then claim someone else lied about it. Its one thing to falsely accuse your opponent of doing some bad thing that actually happened - it is quite another to accuse him of lying about something he never did.
Where does this leave us? In a diminished state. No matter that Wllson was long ago proven a liar and no matter that we now know for certain that no disreputable act was done by the Administration vis a vis Wilson - the Big Lie has done its work too well: in the minds of a large number of Americans, it is considered a fact that Bush lied. This makes our enemies rejoice, and makes our friends worry - both wonder if America has the staying power necessary to win the war. It is wondered out there if the American left, by a campaign of slander, will undermine President Bush and his ability to conduct the war. Time will tell - but the shame the Plame Kerffufle boosters carry with them will never fade - unless they break down, confess their culpability, and apologise to President Bush, et. al. for what they have done.
I'm not going to be holding my breath.

Mark, they'll treat is just as they treated Rathergate. To quote the great El Rushbo, "With the left, the seriousness of the charge trumps the nature of the evidence."
The left, with the help of the DBM got what they wanted out of this--they drove the Bush poll numbers down and smeared a few Republicans in the process.
Fitzgerald should drop the charges on Libby, and if not, President Bush should make his intentions to pardon Libby crystal clear.
These pukes can't win by playing fair; they'll ruin this country if we let them...

keefer:
I'm not sure that Bush should state he'll pardon Libby just yet.
If Fitzgerald doesn't drop the charges and apologize to Libby; in some way I'd love to see a trial where Armitage, Powell, the unnamed State Department drones who tried to cover up Armitage's role, be forced to testify. Also, I'd want to see the reporters who Fitzgerald used as 'proof' that Libby lied, be grilled by Libby's defense team. Fitzgerald automatically took their word over Libby's.
Libby will always have to live with the stigma of being called a perjurer. A trial would in some small way, salvage his reputation.

Hermie,
I just find it funny how the left and the DBM twists things--they accused Rove and Libby, along with the rest of the White House, with "outing" Plame to get revenge on Wilson, to smear Joe's "good name." Well, what were the left and DBM doing all along? They were running with another concocted story, based on lies and deceit, to smear the Bush Administration.
Culture of hypocrisy...

The Demorats seem very quiet on this issue now. Its like they all went into hiding. First, they tried to talk down the economy. However, most of this past week's data (including yesterday's job numbers) indicate the economy is reaccelearating (as I posted in the other threads); they went on the defensive when Cheney, Bush, and Rumsfeld went on the offensive; and now the Plame affair has collapsed.
Anyone hear about Clintune wanting ABC to re-edit the Path to 911 miniseries?

My favorite thing about the WHOLE STORY is, the moon bats HATE the CIA! They hate anybody who works there, they hate what it does, they blame their agents for everything wrong overseas, and if they had the chance, you know they would post every name of every undercover agent in the NY times!
ohh wait, this can be a political issue, quick everybody stop hating them and pretend you care. Meanwhile we'll go play make believe that she was under cover. Ready, break.

We sure are getting a bunch of crickets chirping from the left on this one, aren't we?
Just were are our lefties? They have been so diligent in their posts on B4B these past few weeks...and now they are nowhere to be seen.

Dead on there Calvin. They complain about the CIA for years and all the "evil" things they do. Wire taping, private jails, assinations, what have you that they think we do overseas they blame on the CIA and condeme. Then all of a sudden they LOVE and CARE about the CIA and one of it's agents. Sheesh...

Mark as amazed at the left as you are, I see you too are still keeping the story going, in fact, as you impatiently jumped the gun to ask in the same day you posted. "Just where are our lefties?"
Do the word you write mean anything real, or is the impression you're try to give all thats important?
Thats a serious question Mark, you express amazement at the left in doing what your amazed at them for doing. Then have to ask where they are. And you quoted yourself on this non-story. Thats just amazing!
Does anyone else notice stuff like this?

I'm trying to figure out what the heck you just said James. It's so round about and convoluted I'm still confused.

Gozer at September 2, 2006 08:46 PM
I am also very confused at what James just said.
"you express amazement at the left in doing what your amazed at them for doing"
!??!?!??!?!??!?!??!?!??!??!
What other reason is there to be amazed but a reason to be amazed? Should he be amazed at them for doing something he isn't amazed at them for doing? Hey look, somebody is eating dinner. It is so totally not amazing that I think I will be amazed!
Actually while typing this I just realised what James actually meant. You see, James, just like the rest of the loonie left, refuses to believe anything real. That is why their "art" sucks so much. So it totally confuses them when somebody does something rational, like expressing amazement at something that they are amazed of.

Calvin & Gozer, Lest we forget, although the criticism of the CIA has continued over the years, six years under Billyboy Clinton yielded many friendlies in the CIA for the libs. I am sure that the house cleaning that came with the new administration did nothing to appease the lefties. So they were FORCED(lol, yah right) to take action, thank you Valerie & Joe Wilson. Their names will go down in the history books as political hacks that couldn't get a single thing right! Poor Libs, life unraveling before your eyes eh......?

The moonbats are silenced by the truth. Bush hatred, at all costs will continue. As they lose the 2006 elections --- it will be because Rove / Cheney / Bush made them hate Bush in the first place.
Nothing can ever be their fault, because they are a "party out of power".

Mark what I said there was that in this post you state you amazement at the left for continuing this story. This post was about the same story, and you are continuing it as well. You also stated it was a "non-story", like that made it not worth writing about, yet here you are writing about it again.
Do you get it yet?

"This was the real beginning of the BUSH LIED!!!! meme so popular on the left. It was from this false story that the whole conspiracy-theory fabric underlying the pathological hatred of Bush was woven."
The fact of the matter did lie, how? Bush said was paranoid to believe Iraq had WMD, and created spin to back up a falsehood, the fact of the matter is Bush didn't know if Iraq had WMD, no one did. And cute little pictures from satelites didn't cut it, but it was enough to get people on the boat to war. Another lie Bush and the Administration proposed was Iraq was a treat, the fact is Iraq was not a treat, but is a real threat to the people who actually go to war, and all those civilians, Mark. You and your philosphy and Bush have created death and destruction, well on your way to commiting as much crime as Saddam. So no, Mark, it's not a conspiracy-theory. It's real life. Real life Mark. Reality, not made up. Real. Factual. So factual you can read it in every newspaper on the planet.
So the Left have real critizism for people, you support, God forbid, who are doing terrible, criminal acts on the innocent. That's enough cause for the Left. And that is why the Left are righteous in thier anger and critisims.
