Yes, it is too bad - Libby's name has been dragged through the mud, as have Rove and Cheney, and they had nothing to do with it.

Fitzgerald gets Libby indicted for 'lying' about a non-crime, for which the perpetrator is already known by the not-so special prosecutor.

Fitzgerald wanted a Bush Administration 'trophy', and didn't care how he got it, or if there was even an indictable offense. Why didn't he indict Armitage when he had the chance, instead of going off on a so-called 'perjury' tangent?

Now the Libby case will fall flat, but Libby's life and career has been ruined by not only Fitzgerald; but especially by the Wilsons and those in the MSM whose BDS led to this abuse of the judicial system.

A few observations:

This might be a case of no crime having been committed - until there was an investigation.

Fitzgerald is as bad as Ken Starr was accused of being. Come to think of it, Clinton's war on Serbia was as unilateral as Bush's war on Iraq is accused of being, but I digress.

After all the times the Democrats during the Clinton years used the "bureaucratic SNAFU" defense (such as in Filegate), we find that the whole Plame game might just have been the result of a bureaucratic SNAFU - an official saying something that he shouldn't. I'm sure though, that quite a few lefies still won't allow for the possibility of an honest mistake coming from the Bush administration.

Armitage may not have leaked the actual name "Valerie Plame", but instead told Novak it was "Wilson's wife". Novak himself claims to have gone to Wilson's entry in Who's Who to find out her actual name.

I find this revelation to be a bit of a let down. No grand conspiracy to smear Wilson and Plame, no deliberate disclosure to counter Wilson's claim that Cheney sent him to Niger, just someone failing to control his big mouth.
